Review: Reissue! Brent Newitt's Vinyl Fanatiks has become a key player in the reload game as they continue to excavate pivotal pieces of wax from the 90s in order to preserve the foundations and make sure the stories of the often over-looked early artists are told. 3rd Rail is a great example; the brainchild of Bournemouth's Ben James - he only released this one record on Delirious in 1992 before getting on with his life.... Only to realise that almost 30 years later, the OG copies of "Look No Further" have been known to fetch over L200! Although you would be better off with this crisp, remastered version instead. With all four tracks, including the original remixes from KZ1, this is a fitting reload of 3rd Rail's short-but-powerfully formed legacy. Watch out for those 4x4s on "Stand By 4 Fast Beats". Woof!

Review: Chicago house newcomer Arsene's 'Jack Shit' is guaranteed to detonate on impact, because its 7" release back in February has already done plenty of damage and got shouts from Luke Solomon, Moodymann and Danny Krivit among more. Now the Chicago upstart finally unleashes the full EP with three other, equally fresh cuts of raw, tracky Windy City house. Crunchy drum machines, hypnotic basslines and that unmistakable Chi-town swing are all present and correct here, with dark undertones but persuasive atmospheres all packed with Arsene's own urgent spark. No weak imitations here - this is a familiar analogue grit with future intent.

Review: After 15 years of live space-rock improvisations and jam sessions around Europe, Bambi Davidson finally got round to delivering their second LP last month. Warmly received by old fans and new, here we find the title track repurposed as an extensive 13 minute exercise in spatial expressionism. Dreamy, deep and full of endless twists and turns, this is the epitome of modern cosmicity. Claremont never cease to surge forward.

Compulsive Response (5:19)
Review: The long-running and influential US house label Moods & Grooves welcomes BitterSuite aka Jon Gray for a new EP that finds him distilling plenty of influences into his Compulsive Response EP, which is perfect for mind, body and soul. The title cut is a light and skipping house sound infused with soul-drenched synth warmth, 'Flash Flood' has a more far-sighted sense of cosmic futurism to it and 'Turbulence In The Valley' slows things right down to a delightfully airy and late-night vibe with languid drums and swirling pads. Shutting down a sophisticated EP is the dusty deep house of 'Compulsive Response' with yet more irresistibly emotive synths and wispy melodies.

Review: Cirkle's Vakandra's Spell delivers four serious techno burners, each track packing its own punch and depth. Side-1 kicks off with the title track, 'Vakandra's Spell,' a sci-fi stomper that echoes the hypnotic intensity of Jeff Mills' Purpose Maker work. It's slightly demented yet profoundly captivating, creating an otherworldly atmosphere that pulls you in. Following this, 'Lunar Orbit' presents a fast-paced, loopy groove that drives the energy forward, making it a perfect fit for peak-time sets. On Side-2, 'Evolving' stands out with its chord-based loop style, offering a deep, rhythmic flow that keeps the momentum going. The EP closes with 'Quantum Shift,' a pulsating techno track where rhythmic hi-hats percolate over a driving beat, delivering a high-class finish to this well-rounded release.Vakandra's Spell is a powerful offering for those looking for deep, intense techno tracks.

Review: This second set of remixes from Paris-based eight-piece Cotonete's "Super-Vilains" album is another heavyweight selection with Alex Attias, DJ Deep and Romain Poncet and Aleq Notal all coming correct. For his part, Attias keeps the jazz-tinged Latin vibes front and centre with a sunny, sweaty jam laced with house goodness. DJ Deep & Romain Poncet dub things out for those more subtle moments in the night, when a slick rolling groove is enough to hypnotise a crowd, and then it's pure bumping and jazzy deep house from Aleq Notal. Elements of 90s deepness, lounge vibes and funk all colour in the airwaves as you bask in the goodness of his work.

Braunschweig (4:36)
Everybody Talkin (5:06)
Bunker (4:15)
Review: Deluka's Mind Games EP on SK Eleven delivers four tracks of pulsating, rhythmic techno that showcases a tech-driven edge. The EP opens with the title track,'Mind Games', a minimal yet powerful techno cut that thumps with primal energy. The seductive rhythm draws you in, building layers of intensity as it moves forward, making it perfect for late-night club sets. Braunschweig follows with a subterranean vibe, featuring intricate, morphing beats and a sci-fi atmosphere. The complex rhythms keep listeners on their toes, pushing the boundaries of techno's sonic palette. On the second side, 'Everybody Talkin' brings raw drums and a rolling rhythm, packed with an infectious energy that makes it an undeniable banger. It's a track that commands the dancefloor with its relentless drive. 'Bunker' closes the EP with a futuristic, techy vibe, driven by broken beats and mechanical rhythms. The track's edgy, forward-thinking sound makes this a sharp record for bold, innovative techno.

MP Soundworks - "Gotta Get It" (4:46)
Review: Samosa Records delivers another funk-fuelled feast with Vol2, a double-vinyl delight bursting with disco grooves. Dirty Elements & Drunkdrivers open with 'Koko,' which is a clavinet-driven, string-laced dancefloor gem and then Macchianera's 'Gotta Dance' gets the De Gama re-groove treatment-soulful, brassy and endlessly playable. Niels F.'s 'Trying To Love' grooves with filtered strings, brass and a slick vocal hook that is nicely enhanced by De Gama's re-drums. MP Soundworks closes with the Afro-tinged 'Gotta Get It,' a tribal-infused banger powered by looped vocals and a bouncing bassline. This is a very useful collection that underlines Samosa's fine ear for cutting talent.

Take 2 (6:57)
Review: US veteran JT Donaldson makes the sort of killer tech house that immediately makes you want to move. This time out the Dallas, Texas resident lands on Dolfin Records with a deeper sound that is raw and heavy. 'Choose' rides on knackered-sounding kick with just deft synth smears for company. 'Don't Sweat' has a double-time rhythm with sombre chords adding the soul and 'Want Her Around' gets the hips swinging with its lovely claps, muted, softly glowing sustained synths and lumpy deep house drums. Flipping the script yet again. 'Sunday Drive' is a more nimble and jazzy dancer and 'Take 2' is a sunny house sound with hints of Metro Area nu-disco synth magic and a big fat bassline.

Review: Myor Massiv operates as a furtive extremity of the larger Dutch publishing house MYOR, owned and operated by none other than Coco Bryce. Though Bryce needs no introduction as an unstoppable force in the modern day breaks sequencing game, we nonetheless must restate the special intent of the sublabel: these are relatively experimental "massives", swapping out functional flathead beats for heavier, pozi-driven drillings. That watery, pitch-warped breaksy mid-90s jungle era is given a full audit on this new 13th addition to the label, and things gets increasingly weird, wet and wild: 'Trouble Yu' especially sounds like a bong-hitter from another universe, its impact unsuspectingly poking through a wacky, radiophonic, space dubbed texture.

So Slow (6:04)
Review: Very unorthodox and textured deep house from Edward with the self-referent 'Eddie Green' EP. The fourth record on Smallville, this one bolsters the label's enduring status as a weirdo's deep house favourite, with A-siders 'Primal Dream' and 'Blue Glue' bringing a kind of Seussian or Carroll-esque adventurism to the genre. All manner of slippery, slimy, verging on post-organic sound effect - be they from chup-chup birds, slerber gerbs, and every other 'nonsense' organism imaginable - are heard on these otherwise mechanistic beats, which, merely between the cracks, sound as alive as a collective fungus' inner mycelial core. Then, on the B, by far the standout is 'Eddie Green', which bowls down a suddenly, seemingly endless speedway of neon-lit whizz-past scenes, yet tempered by a still surreal animism shared on the A.

Review: For their latest trick, Moods & Grooves has decided to introduce the world to a DJ/producer who has long been operating on the Detroit underground, Marvin Panther AKA Eternal Student. His debut 12" is a slick, deep and seductive affair featuring two original productions: the deep, starry and spacey broken house dreaminess of 'Transpose Deep' and title track 'Hear Me Through', a retro-futurist deep house number smothered in jazzy guitar motifs, lilting synthesizer lead lines and tactile electronic bass. That track is remixed twice on the A-side: first by Xander Dominique, who adds a little Motor City techno shimmer, and Deepset. The latter's take is deep, driving and sci-fi-fired whilst still retaining the hazy warmth of Panther's original mix.

Review: Dookuzot is the entrancing debut from Floid & W92 aka Woody92, and it's released on their own Omen Wapta imprint. Across eight tracks, they craft a labyrinthine soundscape full of shadowy textures, tribal rhythms and eerie, dissonant tones that feels both ancient and futuristic-an ambient-techno blend that channels family history into sonic myth-making. Standout 'Maushe' hints at dancefloor tension, while 'Veriyou' is seriously deep and heady as part of what is a haunting, high-definition journey through imagined realms and moody post-human worlds.

Review: Last year Joe Baker took his Forest Drive West project to legendary Dutch label Delsin for the very first time, in the process offering up one of his deepest and most picturesque to date. There's a similarly hazy and hypnotic feel about his latest EP, Dualism, which sees the East Londoner return to Livity Sound for the first time in the three years. He sets the tone via the EP-opening title track, a typical on-point combination of broken techno drums and drowsy dub techno style textures, before opting for more energetic Afro-tech beats and spacey, almost ambient chords on the equally brilliant 'New Day'. He further explores his love of polyrhythmic techno on feverish and mind-altering flipside opener 'Ritual', before joining forces with Lucky Pereira on cumbia-influenced, sub-heavy workout 'Scorpion'.

Review: 'Vision Of Love 002' delivers a vibrant collection of six disco-infused jams that feel both timeless and refreshingly funky. Leading with The Funk District's 'Spiritual River', the EP captures a soulful disco flavour, driven by lush strings and a deep funk rhythm that makes it both dynamic and unique. Monsieur Van Pratt's 'Vem Comigo' stands out as an energetic, vocal-driven party track, perfect for getting crowds moving with its infectious groove and lively Brazilian flair. 'Rhythm Eater' by Clean Is Good takes things deeper with a sultry, rhythmic funk groove and elegant string arrangements that add an elevated sophistication. Meanwhile, The Move's 'Somos Funk' brings late-night heat with its sensual saxophone riffs and addictive beat. Review: The SEVEN label has an 'in-between house and techno' ethos and next to tap into that is Berlin-based Tal Fussmann with some 90s-tinged prog house that radiates feel-good energy. Blending genre fluidity from the off, 'No Disco' is percussive and freewheeling but with a rebounding low-end and a clear dancefloor focus. 'Release' taps into driving techno territory and is infused with shimmering machine soul warmth, 'Sunset Falling Down' is a clubby broken beat with real poppy intensity and 'Is It Real?' Is a buoyant, arms-in-the-air house closer. The 12" is elevated by a standout remix from Swiss maestro Deetron, who brings some trademark depth.

Review: Japan's Keita Sano and Monkey Timers join forces as Gaeg for a three-track blitz that pushes disco into uncharted terrain. 'Vivre' opens the A-side with a cosmic stomp-chunky bass, warped vocals and a pulsating groove that sounds like it's being beamed in from another dimension. Flip it and 'Demi-Glaze' offers a sharper, more percussive take on the formula, laced with off-kilter edits and robotic tension. 'Fvk' rounds out the trip with a sludgier low-end assault, pairing slowed-down filter funk with distorted FX that feel both sleazy and surreal. Built with classic dancefloor ingredients but cooked up into something far more deranged, this is mutant disco with a mission-dance music that scrambles heads.

First issued back in 1997, if you are not familiar with the title track from this record you might as well stop fronting you know about Dutch electro because you bought the last Legowelt LIES release and give it up. Raw, brutal, alien electro at it's finest, "Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass" is a classic that will lift any set, and is of course complemented by three further jammers of the highest order. Matheson's death is said to have left a wanting gap in the music world, and the fact that this was his sole release under the Jewellery name only adds to the mystery. The early 1993 record 'Voices' was a singular gem in its own right, crowned on the equally flash girdle that was Aeoniokinetic Records - in the words of one Discogs digger, "deep and melodic early progressive house on an obscure label with only a single release." For those who like their gems so rare as to be thought investment-grade, listen no further.

Review: Irish-born, Manchester-based artist Kerrie returns to James Ruskin's Blueprint label with her third outing for the label, continuing her evolution through weighty, precision-built techno. A fixture of the UK scene and now a resident at Berlin's Tresor, Kerrie draws on her background in record store culture and over a decade of hardware experimentation to forge tracks that are both rigorous and emotionally charged. 'Act Of Resistance' pairs dub-soaked atmospheres with serrated industrial textures, while 'Validation' rides a more urgent, tunnelling pulse. Flip it for the paranoid spirals of 'In Your Orbit' and the slow-burner 'Natural Order', each anchored by detail-rich production and layered groove. Rooted in classic hardware sensibilities but driven by a personal, future-facing vision, this is heady, unrelenting techno with purpose.

As always with this fine imprint, the sounds are about balancing transcendental synths with deep tech rhythms. They are masterclasses in economical arrangement and on the surface don't do much, but when you tune in properly, they are mind-melting trips, starting with the mystery of 'Granite Monolith'. 'Irradiated Body' has loopy synth sequences unfolding at great pace with pristine accuracy and 'Coming Up For Air' gets a little more extroverted with dubby kicks and the sound of overloaded AI machines getting ever more frenzied. 'Facing The Horizon' is a flickering, optimistic and mildly euphoric sound for dropping when the sun peaks through the blinds and you celebrate getting through another night of darkness.

Review: US army man Mike Grant's Moods & Grooves has been a house music treasure trove since day one. In fact, you might say that a house artist hasn't really made it unless he has tapped them up for his imprint and next to get that honour is New Digital Fidelity aka Scopic label boss. He kicks off with 'Gonna Touch The Sky,' a tom-laced deep house delight finished with a dusty vocal., Fred P reshapes it into something even more smoky and elongated then 'Make Up Your Mind' layers lazy Chicago claps with swirling Detroit pads into something lush and soothing. 'Horizon' is a playful, uplifting broken beat with singing synth leads. Stunning.

Snaporaz (Luca Quirky version) (7:12)
Snaporaz (Luca Quirky Beat) (4:08)
Review: Originally tucked away on a 2020 12", Quiroga's 'Snaporaz' EP gets the treatment it always deserved with this expanded, four-track edition from Balearic archivists Archeo. Based in Naples, Quiroga stretches his original into a languid, Rhodes-soaked jazz-house glide on the A1ifull of crackling percussion, soft-focus pads and a bubbling low end that carries the melodic line into increasingly heady territory. A loose hand drum finale seals it with flair. 'Escorpiao' on A2 is subtler but no less vibrant, a slick fusion jam where keytar and cowbell meet over a featherlight grooveibalancing restraint and virtuosity in equal measure. The B-side belongs to Rome's Francesco de Bellis, appearing under his L.U.C.A. alias. Known for his Edizioni Mondo material, he warps 'Snaporaz' into a dreamlike new age dancer, slowing the tempo and steeping it in hazy atmospheres and woozy melodies. His 'Quirky Beat' version strips it further, letting skeletal drum edits carry the mood alone. Bridging Neapolitan warmth and Roman oddball finesse, this is a limited edition reissue that more than earns its second life.

Say When! - "Save Me" (Souls Groove Revibe mix) (4:31)
Ma Gi C - "Shampoo" (Black Truffle instrumental edit) (7:14)
Review: Reborn Italo-disco label Fulltime Production's ongoing remix series, in which contemporary producers tackle gems from the vaults, reaches its tenth instalment. Da Lukas steps up first, re-imagining Rainbow Team's lightly funk-fuelled, string-laden 1982 disco jam 'Bite The Apple' as an action-packed disco-house anthem, before long-serving Italian producer Massimo Beradi turns Michael Baker's 1983 workout 'Don't You Want My Loving' into a hybrid boogie-soul/deep house treat. Over on side B, Souls Groove successfully 're-vibe' Say When's 'Save Me', an early house era European synth-pop anthem (and yes, you'll know it), while GAMM regular Black Truffle's take on Ma Gi C's 'Shampoo' is a gritty disco-funk delight.

Detroit Driven (feat Bill Beaver) (10:26)
The Part We Dance (7:12)
Far From Over (4:21)
Review: Mike Grant's Moods & Groves is one of Detroit's strongest deep house torchbearers and it has been for years. Raybone Jones has also been turning out the tunes for years but has kept a low-key profile while doing so. It's been a decade since his last outing on this label but that time hasn't diminished his skills: 'Detroit Driven (feat Bill Beaver)' is a dusty and ramshackle opening groove to get you in the mood and 'The Part We Dance' then layers up loopy broken beats and roughshod percussion with wispy pads that bring a future feel. 'Far From Over' brings some diffuse synth soul and jumbled percussive funk to another lush deep house excursion.

Review: Back by popular demand comes this four track revisitation of the famous 80s synthpop classic, which emerged in December 2024 with the kind of slightly Euro twist in the vocal department you might expect from the Netherlands-based Random Vinyl stable. The Master Mix is perhaos the most poignant, given that its airy, lush pads were put together by the late producer Marc Hartman who very sadly passed away in August 2024 at the far too young age of 58. But all four show due reverence to this monolithic moment in electronic music history, without resisting the temptation to add a little new. Grey-t stuff.

Tounan City Breakers (6:24)
Not My House (7:09)
Review: The eponymous Soultape keeps their label moving nicely in its early days with another colourful offering of minimal and stylish techno. It is an alias of Denis Kondraschenko, who has been producing for almost 20 years, and shows his class on the hooky melodies, zippy leads and well designed sounds that bring such life to 'Plastic Pop Memories'. 'Body Control' is more dark and unsettling for those trippy back rooms and 'Tounan City Breakers' rides on an impossibly deft, funky rhythm with neon pads and a gurgling bassline. Last of all is the glitchy, dubby tech house of 'Not My House' which has real force in its drums.

Review: Most dance heads know a thing or two about Donna Summer and 'I Feel Love', but what else do they know about her legacy? Don't get caught off guard by the honorarily-named troupe Dina Summer, whose latest remix EP on 12" here follows up an already-storied full-length LP of the same name. The Berlin synth-wave riders' second LP, Girls Gang, hears a new take on dark disco and EBM, not pioneering or sultry hi-NRG, suggesting a seedy underside to the artist who inadvertently *made* dance music dance music. Contrasting the original, telephone filtered, distorto-diced armageddons heard on the Girls Gang LP, this remix set is a chintzier grab bag of forensic club architectures, with a banging extended version of the title track serving a bright four-minuter in gothic, bodying technicolour.

Review: New York City's underground stalwart Sweater On Polo returns with the debut release on Signal Route. His Mechanical Confusion EP draws inspiration from early 90s Chicago techno and basement house so it echoes the gritty, raw style of labels that dealt in that sort of stuff, like Dance Mania and Relief Records. Across the six cuts there is an intergenerational dialogue between past and present with acid house, techno and synth punk all capturing a familiar old-school angst and texture but with a fresh twist. 'Land of Code' is one of our favourites with its rising percussive tension, deeply buried bass pulse and dusty analogue drums.

I Need You Now (Backup ;)) (8:11)
Review: The T Recs label has another playful funky house offering here on hand-stamped blue wax. The opener is awash with samples you will recognise if you are of a certain vintage and enjoyed chart music in the 90s. The loopy synths borrow from French filter house and the bassline bobbles with a great sense of funk with the erotic vocal coos add the heat up top before some big male vocals finish it in style. The flipside is a backup of the same tune just in case you play out the A-side too much.
