  3. Last Chance Saloon
Review: REPRESS ALERT: Trelik reach into their recent archives with a much needed repress of Whalesong, the label's 2011 debut from UK producer OCH. With a compulsive passion for the dying art of crate-digging combined with a love for modern synthesis techniques the now Sweden based OCH manages to put together a 12" that could easily be described as psychedelic Chicago. "Whalesong" is a pulsating floor work-out which references the US greats whilst building an emotive sub-aqua soundscape. "Blind is The Wind" follows with a sneaky chord driven spoken interlude which creates an air of tension before climaxing into "Last Chance Saloon".

  1. Liquid Earth - "X-Form"
  2. Huerta - "Legwork"
  3. DJOKO - "Copyrighted"
  4. T Jacques - "Voyetra"
Review: The latest collection of wayward floor heaters from Nuances De Nuit takes us once more into a colourful headspace where the possibilities are wide open to make house music with personality. Californian shining star Liquid Earth is up first, although he's better known as Urulu. 'X-Form' is a bubbling metropolis of futuristic synth squiggles with starry-eyed wonder in its heart and vintage techno smarts up top. Huerta follows up that sterling start with the enchanting electro incantations of 'Legwork', which build wonderfully on the sound laid out on his recent debut album for Voyage Recordings. On the flip, DJOKO brings a smart shuffle and some shimmering synth work to the forefront for a seriously smart twist on the tech house template, while T. Jacques opts for space age machine funk with a splash of boogie poured in for good measure.

  3. Nintendeau (Bassline dub)
  4. Destinated
  5. Shaguarmode
Review: Berlin/Amsterdam imprint Lowmoneymusiclove has chosen to begin its 2020 release campaign with a debut, specifically the first release from Low Countries twosome Avos (Roderick Merkx & Tjeerd Wijffels). They begin in melodic mood via the bustling beats, tuneful bass and garage style organ stabs of "Illusive Timing", before drifting further towards funk-fuelled tech-house territory on the sleazy peak-time bounce of "Nafra". Arguably even better is the B-side opening "Bassline Dub" of "Nintendeau", where '80s style Fairlight stabs and 8-bit electronics ride a rapidly vibrating bassline and sweaty drum beats. Elsewhere, "Destinated" is deep, dreamy, woozy and properly bass-heavy, while "Shaguarmode" is a jacking affair blessed with chiming, near crystalline electronic melodies.

Review: Back once again we have the long anticipated 2nd release from Hearlucinate . Based around a party in London where each guest DJ is asked to collaborate on an EP with the Hearlucinogenic host and resident Tristan da Cunha . This time round we have the uber talented Ron Obvious laying down two killer cuts aimed straight at the dance floor . UK attitude mixes with New Jersey style organs , breaks , bass and a bad ass beats... Giving us two tracks that have an old school flavour but super fresh with a modern aesthetic. Once again showcasing his ability to produce timeless , tasteful grooves that make you move . Next up is TdC with his bass driven hypnotic hybrid sound . Picking up where from the last ep with heavy bottom end , driving beats , a spooky groove , all topped off with a dash of sleaze. To Finish the EP we welcome back Freakenstein with his electro funk monster taking no booty prisoner. Dance floor dynamite as always from this exciting new artist . As always it comes dressed to impress with heavy weight 180g vinyl and artwork from the workshop of Atelier Superplus.

Review: While Gianmarco Orsini is already well established as a producer thanks to solo releases on Elephant Moon and Partisan, fellow Italian Jacopo Latini is still in the process of making his name. This collaboration with Orsini as Data Memory Access - their first joint effort - should help raise his profile further. There's plenty to get the blood pumping throughout, from the throbbing, warehouse-ready retro-futurism of "Experience" - where angular acid lines and dreamy chords ride a '90s style Euro-house bassline - and the chunky acid house/tech-house fusion of "Acid In My Mind", to the drowsy electric piano chords, bustling breakbeats and bleeping deep house melodies of "Technology".

Review: Burnski's Instinct outlet continues to bring some serious firepower to the resurgent UK garage scene, and this time he's facing off with 0113 (otherwise known as Kepler.) for two rabble-rousing heaters packed with inventive twists on the 2-step formula. "Apache" is an intensely detailed roller that pivots around a killer vocal take, and uses all kinds of synth flourishes to create a wholly futuristic atmosphere - the garage of the future, but certainly not future garage. "Ignite" has a slightly more old-skool flavour that nods to past masters like Smith & Mighty as well as the pioneering work of El B et al. Classy stuff on both sides of this cool and deadly 12".

Review: Before making his name as St Germain, French producer Ludovic Navarre released music under a number of other aliases. One of these was Deepside, originally a 1992 collaboration with Sub System partner Guy Rabiller that quickly became a Navarre solo project. The "Tolerance EP" (1993) was Navarre's first solo Deepside release and has long been considered something of an under-discussed European techno classic. As this reissue proves, it's lost none of its allure. The EP's undisputed highlight remains A-side "French", a glistening, sun-bright chunk of foundational tech-house positivity shot through with Motor City style machine soul and luscious chords aplenty. Elsewhere, "IL" is warm, soft-touch deep techno at its very best, while "111" is a stripped-back acid box jam.

There's a timeless quality to this stuff, whether it's the late-night swirl of "Sacrement" or the choppy, quirked-up groove of "Every Kind Of People With Any Kind Of Soul". On this 12", Eris Drew delivers the uplifting breakbeat celebration of "See You In Snow", while Edward takes things deeper with the tripped out minimal house groove of "Mind Loop". D. Review: Since establishing the Dote label in the summer of 2018, Junes has released some of his best work to date, including an inspired but overlooked double-album. This EP is nowhere near as expansive of course, but still contains a quartet of quality cuts in his trademark dreamy-but-chunky deep-tech style. First head for opener "Vista Lens", where swelling chords and deep space electronics dance atop a chunky groove, before dancing your way through the percussion-rich, Afro-tech bounce of "Python's Temple". Over on side B, "Dead Set" is another smooth cruise through deep house/tech-house fusion, while closing cut "House of Mirrors" boasts the twin attractions of weighty, thickset bass and spacey, alien-sounding lead lines.

Review: After a relatively quiet start to his career last year, Rossi is ready to move things up a notch via a solo vinyl debut for the popular Eastenderz imprint. He begins with "Kickin' It", a deliciously groovy and energy-packed affair which wraps glitchy electronics and layered vocal sounds around swinging, UK garage-influenced tech-house beats and a killer bassline, before opting for a deeper and more melodious - but no less groovy or punchy - vibe on "Feelings". Elsewhere, "24 Trips" manages to be bass-heavy, spacey and bumpin' in equal measure, while closing cut "Sundown" is the kind of dreamy and tactile tech-house jam that we can imagine would sound terrific at sunset.

The EP is a musical delight formed by three club ready deep house cuts that Ron hs on lockdown. The title track "Builded Mind" has his signature rolling basslines, etheral vocals and lush pads that we've come to love in his music. "Nearly Forever" is a faster bumpy and swingin' number while "Foreground" closes the EP on a light and dreamy note. Review: REPRESS ALERT: The third trip out on Nuances De Nuit brings together another killer selection of ear-snagging club cuts that appeal to the deep-digging community. Kolter's "Don't Kill My Groove" has already been drawing plenty of favourable attention from the likes of Moxie with its deft breaks and electro-funk stylings. T. Jacques' "Control" is a peppy tech house jam with a sleek garage bump that should go down a treat with serious heads and passing trade alike. The real treat here though is Metro's "Here For The Love", a seriously in-demand jam from 1994 finally getting the repress treatment to take it out of the hands of the sharks. Vitess completes the package with "133cc", a dynamic wiggler with enough tripped out elements to take out a tank.

Review: There's never a dull moment with the Albion posse, who continue to search far and wide to present consistently innovative twists on the house music template. This time around they've invited Italian producer Adriano Sorrentino from the DEMUT camp to drop some sparkling jackers with an old-skool palette but a forward-thinking spirit. "Inner Movement" is a sweet slice of melancholic techno rich in the synth department. "Dizzy Freq" is arguably the prize here though - a rough-hewn jacker with heavy sub bass and plenty of freaky analogue delights wobbling around on top. On the flip, Domenico Rosa delivers a funky, equally ghoulish version of "Dizzy Freq" and then the legendary Titonton Duvante lays down a sumptuous deep house take on "Inner Movement".

"Morning Confusion" is their second EP in as many months and once again sees the shadowy outfit join the dots between chunky tech-house, acid and electro. Review: Serenity Records is a new not-for-profit record label, aimed at raising essential awareness on the growing epidemic of mental health within the music industry, whilst also donating all proceeds of its project to various mental health charities. One of the key features of the project is to allow the artists commissioned for each EP to have the opportunity to select the particular charity that their work will support. So for 001, John Shima & Mihail P's EP will support the work of Music Minds Matter - a charity unquestionably leading the way in making a difference to mental health issues in the music industry. The inaugural EP beautifully intertwines between floaty synth work and hypnotic percussion - adequately serving its purpose as a resource for music lovers looking to seek refuge away from whatever problems they may face.
