  1. Sedition (6:32)
  2. Crown Of Nails (6:26)
Review: One year later, UVB-76's shadowy collective 4 6 2 5 strike again with two more unique startling schematics. Flexing across the tempo axis, "Sedition" leads with a fast 170 twist as hard pneumatic kicks cut through the dense foggy atmospherics before doubling up the momentum and taking unpredictable twists midway. "Crown Of Nails" maintains the hunchback pressure and that heavy foreboding sense synonymous with each member of the collective, but does so at a cool 105BPM pace giving space for each percussive element to ricochet around your purdy little pranged-out soul.

  4. Pharmacology (5:08)
Review: 4E used to be Khan's apartment number in New York City's East Village back in the late 90's. 4E became the trademark sound for his downbeat acid infused electro work. On his kitchen floor he produced a very unique brand of futuristic funk tracks with only a ROLAND TB-303, SH-101 and the Hip-Hop fundamental SP1200 drum sampler. Besides a couple of 12"s for Force Inc. Music and the "Gentle Killer E.P." on Freddy Fresh's Socket imprint, 4E released the highly acclaimed downbeat electro album "4E4ME4YOU" on German glitch label Mille Plateaux. Back in 1998 4E shared the now legendary 12" with I-F "Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass" on the "From Beyond Series" by Ectomorph's Interdimensional Transmissions. Pills & Thrills" on Temple Traxx is four previously unreleased acid-electro stomper that are as funky and noisy as it can get on an East Village kitchen floor.

  1. Aleph (8:14)
  2. Sent (3:32)
  3. Opferator (6:17)
  4. Thanksgiving (7:58)
Review: If you've been paying close attention to music release on techo's fluid margins, you may already be familiar with the work of Adam Longman Parker AKA Afriqua. He's released a fair amount of material over the last few years, serving up cuts that variously doff a cap to tech-house, techno and booming British bass music. This first EP for R&S Records is similarly hard to pin down. Parker begins with the tumbling music box melodies, subtle Afrobeat touches and rock solid rhythms of "Aleph", before mixing '90s modem noises and enveloping chords on hazy ambient piece "Sent". Over on side B, he serves up a dreamy and melodious take on dub techno ("Opferator" [sic]) and a Motor City influenced chunk of deep house/tech-house fusion (the rather brilliant "Thanksgiving").

  1. Agrippa - "U C Me" (6:27)
  2. Henry Greenleaf - "In Same" (5:23)
  3. Meta - "Fault Line" (6:51)
Review: Agrippa builds on his previous on the likes of Version and Brotherhood Sound System and takes to the runway with his brand new imprint Par Avion. Flight path set to the darkest corner of the known bass universe as the captain lays down another brutal fractured neck snapper in the form of "U C Me", label mate and compadre Henry Greenleaf flips the coin for a more intergalactic mission before Meta brings us right down to earth with the techno shatter jam "Fault Line" that feels like an appropriately venomous and paranoid update on Woolford's classic "Erotic Discourse". Samba (12")
Cat: TTT 079. Rel: 30 Apr 19
  1. Samba (9:27)
  2. Memo (12:46)
Review: Alex is a brand new alias from the artist regularly known as Baba Stiltz - a Swedish producer whose quirky, off-kilter house and techno releases are rarely less than brilliant. His first Trilogy Tapes outing is suitably impressive. The real killer is "Samba", an inspired nine minute workout in which he layers deep, woozy electric piano motifs, sun-kissed chords, child-like vocal samples and rich bass atop a swinging, samba fired techno beat. The deeper and more bass-heavy "Memo" is even more epic; a near 13-minute journey through sparse, crunchy, hypnotic and dubbed-out minimal house rhythms and exotic, snake charmer solos. In other words, it's another top-notch EP from a producer who genuinely can do no wrong.

  1. Cyberspace (6:31)
  2. Rompiente (6:53)
  3. Wake Up (8:07)
  4. Rompiente (In Flagranti remix) (5:01)
Review: Alisu is the electronic project of Chilean producer and graphic designer Jessica Campos de la Paz. Alisu started her career in 1998 by performing live sets of dub, techno, IDM and experimental sounds, not only as Alisu but also in the project Manziping with Rodrigo Rivera and Antonio Diaz, performing at many South American festivals. On her first release for Bottom Forty, Alisu composes three beautiful, purely hardware based tracks for the Rompiente EP with rhythmic vibes that take you from resonant underwater depths up into reflective cosmic atmospheres.

The opening track "Cyberspace" shows Alisu's synth prowess with a driving and building yet ambient electric world that eventually dissolves into different sparkling arpeggiations, while "Rompiente's" fractured vision of a perfect aural reality spreads across a beautiful seven minutes of hyper active arp's and bass rhythms. "Wake Up" has been a club and festival favorite as it's dance floor driving kicks create a solid groove mixed with transcendent pads and spaced out sounds are the perfect formula for keeping a dance floor moving while also elevating the listener to a higher level of emotion. Rounding out the Rompiente EP is a percussive rhythmic remix from one of our all time favorites In Flagranti who give us the deep and disco influenced bass lines we know and love.

  4. Farron - "Cosmic Lies" (6:53)
  5. Kreggo - "La Mia Giungla" (4:44)
Review: Time Horizon's second episode enlists another team of dancefloor snipers delivering 5 brain-dancing tunes crafted appositively for late night use. After his appearance on the first XCPT record, Andrea is back on the label with his unmistakable shuffling drums and a heavy square bassline followed by Anybody Anytime covering the uptempo-zone with a rotative junglistic tool dressed with celestial pads; closing the A side TANS reveals his new robot alias The Sympathizer providing a neurotic electro progression fully based on his modular system. Flipping the records you will find two XCPT homies bringing the audience straight into Matera landscapes: Farron gets a 909 unceasing toms orchestra surrounded by his atmospheric leads while Kreggo illustrates clearly his hypnotic mid-low vision of breakbeat locked by a mystic bass for the whole track.

  4. DJ K-1 - "Erase The Time" (6:36)
Review: From the minds of Direct Beat and Detroit Bass Classics, comes the first initial compilation of electro/techno heat. "Electro In The Key Of Detroit Vol 1" presents 4 proven dance floor dope and record crate staples that provide the hungry ears of masses the groove to move. A Side features two sure-fire steppers - a rare AUX 88 voyage entitled "Phantom Power" and Blak Tony's tempo-pushing "Holla Holla" finally see the light of day on this wax collectable, giving praise to Motor City footwork culture. On the flip, DJ K-1's "Erase The Time" rocked the airwaves and global clubs with its signature thumping style laced beneath alien-like melody and repetitive vocal structure while Posatronix's mutant-rhythm mantra, "Pure Techno Sound" pulls the weight of Detroit's street dance roots down to the origin of how to boogie in space. This collection of re-issued jams and new explorations is the must-have for the electro/techno & bass aficionado.

  5. Retrograde Youth - "Final Days" (4:36)
  6. LVRIN - "Black Tank" (4:58)
Review: Somewhat later than initially intended, Pinkman serves up the second volume in its celebratory "Five Years of Tears" series (the first landed back in April 2018). As was the case with its predecessor, the six-track set is made up entirely of previously unreleased material. This time round, the majority of the material is inspired by EBM, industrial, coldwave and other skewed, left-of-centre electronic sounds from the 1980s. The material is uniformly strong, with highlights including the sweaty, percussive, all-action insanity of "Al Batard" by Jann, sleazy, mid-tempo EBM pulse of Kris Baha's superb "Beatthemachine" and the pitch-black, DAF style intensity of Retrograde Youth's "Final Days".

Review: Following the release of Tolga Baklacioglu & Dee Grinski's album "Your Secret Face", VENT presents a remix package featuring Samuel Kerridge, Svreca, Ryo Murakami, and Isabella, who are some of the artists who have most inspired and supported the duo's music. These exceptional artists' interpretations refract the industrial rhythms and harrowing vocalisations of the original tracks into caleidoscopic tunnel visions with each remixer's individualistic expression.

  4. John Shima - "Gravitron" (6:41)
Review: The first missive from freshly minted Spanish label Tribe is a multi-artist affair, with a quartet of producers serving up some seriously good material. Barson kicks things off via the psychedelic acid lines, bustling TR-909 drums and early LFO mannerisms of "Inertia", before self-styled "ageing B-boy" Freddy Fresh surprises with a stomping, bass-heavy chunk of early '90s techno. Over on side B, Artes impresses via the dreamy but energetic techno-funk of "Chromatic Life", while Sheffield-based John Shima steals the show with a killer slab of intergalactic Motor City techno with distinctive ambient influences.

  4. Phases (feat Eternauta) (6:46)
Review: One of the founders of Uaudio and Sperimentazioni Sonore, Battista has been bouncing his outsider house style around labels such as The Trilogy Tapes and Warm Sounds, sometimes solo and sometimes in tandem with likeminded souls EMG and John Swing. Now he parks up on Florida label SPORTS with some more crooked delights that ably demonstrate the creative potential still to be found in the house realm if you approach it with imagination. "Infinite Possibility" is a weird, jazzy cut that reaches into the cosmos, and it's utterly magnificent. Saverio Celestri does a marvelous job of remixing it too, turning out a smoky, Motor City indebted version. "Let Me See" may have a more forthright beat, but there's still enough individuality in the choice of chords and samples to make this a stand out house record.
