Circle Of Dust
Review: Formed in 2020, Tommy Paslaski, Ben Paulson and Akeem Asani have evolved their sound as Purelink from dub techno and '90s drum 'n bass to vaporous jazz and post-rock elements. Their second album embraces fluidity by mixing live instrumentation and vocals with their signature ambient and rhythmic experimentation. It also reflects a period of upheaval as they moved from Chicago to New York City and went on to incorporate acoustic and electric elements alongside contributions from Loraine James and poet Angelina Nonaj. Tracks like 'First Iota' and 'Kite Scene' explore evolving, atmospheric soundscapes and the album culminates in the rather more euphoric 'Circle of Dust'.

Review: Three decades (give or take a year or two) since the first Telepathic Fish ambient party in South London, the crew's remaining members (Kevin Foakes AKA DJ Food, Mario Aguera and David Vallande) reunite to celebrate its' sound and legacy via a genuinely brilliant compilation of 90s chill-out treats and accompanying 20-page booklet. As you'd expect, it is packed with genuinely brilliant, mind-altering and sometimes meditative fare, from the deep space ambient dub of Global Communication's 'Incidental Harmony' and the picturesque IDM shuffle of 'Skinned Clean' by Insides, to the dusty Cornish bliss of Caustic Window's 'Cordilatron' (a Richard D James rarity), The Orb's epic ambient techno rework of Keichi Suzuki's 'Satellite Serenade' and David Morley's immersive (and little known) ambient rework of Orbital side project Golden Girls' rave hit 'Kinetic'. Essential!

Review: The long-trusted trio of Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin are now joined by Norwegian guitarist Fredrik Rasten, and Ghosted III hears them push their stripped-down interplay into freer, wispier terrain. Perhaps recalling well the metrically mystifying works of Burnt Friedman, the third instalment in their Ghosted series builds on thier renowned minimal but tactile approach, where tiny shifts in groove and timbre ripple and froth forth like tectonic events, and initial prog-jazz movements open out subtly to become knaps on plenums of post-rock. Ambarchi's decades of experimenting in electroacoustic drift, Berthling's grounding in Swedish jazz and improv, and Werliin's propulsive drumming (notably in Fire! and Wildbirds & Peacedrums) coalesce again, but Rasten's chiming acoustic textures add fresh tension to the group's hypnosis. Based between Sweden and Australia, these players deal in small-scale dynamics with massive effect.

Review: Get ready for another round of Afro-Islamic breaks as sculpted by the genius recluse known as Muslimgauze (aka Bryn Jones), whose storied obsession with Middle Eastern atmospheres and culture writ large, set to contemporary dub and breaks technologies, could be said to have proven both the life and death of the man. On this set of formerly unheard singles, released through Jones' original label-network providers Staalplaat, we've two further Levantine levitations, heard in characteristic widescreen-but-weird surround sound, as 'Track 1' stumbles through tense oud areas and clattering tin barrel breaks, and 'Track 2' blurs hand-drummed darbuka with wheelup-rewind dancehall recalls.

Review: Lo Recordings begins a long-overdue reissue campaign of Susumu Yokota's quietly radical Skintone catalogue, starting with Skintone Edition Volume 1, a lavish 13-record box set on out variegated vinyl. This first volume assorts Magic Thread, Image 1983-1998, Sakura, Grinning Cat, Will, The Boy And The Tree and Laputa, drawn from a run of 14 albums Yokota released between 1998 and 2012. Initially self-released in Japan, they blur ambient, minimalism, house and Japanese folk with a painter's sensitivity, quietly encouraging a resharpening of the ambient genre outside the traditional Western canon (which Yokota was always happy to play on too). Pre-orders include original master downloads (excluding Laputa) and a code for the upcoming remastered editions; and look out for Volume 2 as well, which lands in 2026.

Review: Veteran northern duo Autechre, long associated with the most fractured corners of electronic music, offer something unexpectedly generous and inviting here. It's a new release that feels looser, more exploratory i less about total deconstruction and more about spontaneous sketching. Tracks are shorter, often playful, but never throwaway. 'Altibzz' and 'Rale' shimmer with impressionistic calm, while the stuttering mechanics of 'The Plc' and 'Tankakern' reveal a groove-minded touch that leans into early hip-hop and electro without ever mimicking it. There's real warmth to the sequencing too. Ideas emerge, recede and reappear with fluidity, allowing moments like 'Paralel Suns' or 'Notwo' to hit with emotional weight on repeat listens. For a group known for density and abstraction, this feels unusually personal. The production is still meticulous, of course: fine-grained details in the percussion, depth in the spatial design, layers that unfold slowly over time. Autechre haven't gone soft i they've just made space. And in doing so, they've created something genuinely moving. It's a joy to hear two artists so synonymous with machine complexity turn towards something more human, more intuitive and arguably more lasting.

Review: Released without a hint of fanfare first time round in 2021, this deeply intimate collaboration between Ukrainian vocalist Yana Pavlova and Berlin-based producer Pavel Milyakov continues to command attention, almost of its own accord. Built out of minimal guitar patterns, submerged dub-influenced bass and spectral saxophone contributions from Alex Zhang Hungtai, the LP unfolds through a mix of improv and aleatory algo-synthesis, where rather than smoothing over imperfections, the artists lean into them; mic rustle, background clicks and ambient irregularities all inform on its dark jazzy, trancelike post-humanoid atmos.

Review: Leeds-based group The Sorcerers expand their palette with eight new compositions that draw on spiritual jazz, minimalism and vintage electronics. The material continues their dialogue with the Ethiopique sound, though here it acts more as foundation than frame. 'Echoes of Earth' opens with slow, circular phrasing and a loosened rhythmic centre, setting a subdued tone. 'Ancestral Machines' and 'Abandoned Satellites' layer Mellotron, Jen 73 and Farfisa textures over sparse percussion, edging closer to early synthesiser music without abandoning their core ensemble dynamic. The Great Bell' and 'Beneath the Dunes' both sit lower in tempo, the former driven by low brass and negative space, while the latter hints at ambient structure. 'The Ghosts of the Black Drift' and 'The Infinite' stretch the harmonic language slightly further, with electronics used atmospherically rather than melodically. 'The Last Transmission' closes the set on a more resolved note i slightly brighter, but still understated. The group's refusal to lean into retro stylisation keeps the project grounded, and it's not a radical departure but a carefully measured step into expanded terrain.

Review: Released in 1980, UK synth pioneer John Foxx's 'No-One Driving' stands as one of his starkest, most enduring solo cuts-a vision of cold, mechanised dislocation rendered in chrome-tinted synthpop. Recorded after his split from Ultravox, the track pushes deeper into Ballardian abstraction, where the human and technological dissolve into each other. The re-recorded single version trims back some of the Metamatic album's rawness in favour of crisper detail: squelching basslines, clipped drum machine patterns and lyrics that trace vanishing bodies across concrete motorways. Backed by atmospheric B-sides like 'Glimmer', 'Mr. No' and 'This City', the release captures Foxx at a creative peak, articulating isolation and futurism with minimalist control. It remains a fixture of his live shows-and a touchstone for countless electronic artists that followed.

Review: Capturing the towering electronic composer at peak performance, Klaus Schulze's latest live album hears the electronica idiom-settler deliver put on an immersive show, on one leg of an infamous cross-European tour from France to Switzerland. Recorded in 1977, this live set showcases Schulze's modular synthesis mastery, weaving intricate soundscapes around pulsing sequencers, ethereal pads, and expansive improvisations. The concert reflects Schulze's signature blend of cosmic ambience and rhythmic intensity, bridging Berlin School minimalism with a palpable mood of orchestral grandeur.

Review: This is Sophie at her most unruly and most exacting. Originally released 2019, three years before her untimely death, the Glasgow-born producer disassembles her debut and reanimates it as a 94-minute, two-part odyssey, veering from hydraulic club destroyers to delicate ambient unspoolings. Originally released in 2019, it's not just a remix collection but a wholesale reinvention: self-authored, nonlinear, and often sublime. 'Ponyboy (Megadog)' thrashes through chrome-plated rhythms with chaotic grace, while 'Infatuation (Midnight Zone)' pulls back into pure atmosphere, full of liquid clarity and hushed suspense. There's a tactile, metallic intensity to everything here i especially on 'Faceshopping (Euphoric Reduce Me To Nothingness Remix)', which warps the original's plasticity into something wilder and more abstract. The album's sequencing mimics the logic of a club set, but what lingers most is the emotional palette: euphoric, alien, intimate. Sophie's sound across the project fuses dancetechnoambienthouse into a sculptural, shape-shifting form that foregrounds identity and sensation. At a time when many remix albums serve as filler, this stands apart: fiercely curated, radically personal and technically peerless.

Review: There is a delightful lightness of touch to these deep dubwise explorations on the newly emerging False Aralia label, set up by Brian Foote, who founded US leftfield institution Peak Oil. Drums lap like gentle waves, synths unfurl as softly as passing clouds and smudged, ghostly vocals from Loveshadow's Anya Prisk bring romance. 'Externalism 02' is brilliantly wistful - barely there pads hint at emotional pain but dissipate before you hurt too much. 'Externalism 03' is a more lo-fi and minimal work with shuffling drums and murky low ends coalescing into a tender and bubbling soundscape then 'Externalism 04' is a sonic collage that is always shifting its focus from flickering candles to blurry pads. Hugely experimental but warmly comforting sounds.

Review: Bernard Sumner of New Order and Johnny Marr of The Smiths' second album and the first in five years when it was released in 1996, Raise the Pressure explores more deeply the hybrid of guitar-driven rock and sleek electronic music, often with a club-friendly edge. Tracks like 'Forbidden City' and 'Dark Angel' embrace trance and techno textures while maintaining strong pop hooks and Marr's unmistakable guitar work. Elsewhere, ballads such as 'Out of My League' and 'How Long' show the duo's ability to make melodic hooks and great harmonies. While the album didn't deliver a major hit like their debut, its strength lies in its cohesion and mature songwriting. Often cited as a blueprint for the direction New Order might have taken in the 90s, Raise the Pressure is an underrated gem to most who know it. Previously only available on vinyl in the UK, this reissue is a welcome return to the record racks.

Review: Organic Analogue returns with a rediscovery of Beppu's rare dubbed-out electronica and circuit-bent techno. Andrew Hargreaves is the Manchester-based producer behind this alias which was first making waves back in the late-2000s. Back then it was three limited CDr EPs in 2009, which came with just 50 copies each, that made a stir and still stand up today. As such, the sought-after recordings receive a proper vinyl pressing and have been mastered by Miles Whittaker. Two distinct remixes from Demdike Stare also add further quality and contemporary context to the origins, which blend dub techno and braindance with textured noise. IPOP continues Organic Analogue's tradition of spotlighting overlooked talent having already done so with names like DJ Guy and Jean-Louis Huhta.

Review: False Aralia is a popular houseplant native to Taiwan but also the name of this new experimental label which has got us intrigued. We don't know who or what Iri Gram is but we do know having listened to this that they make intricately designed dub, minimal, ambient and sound art fusions that sound like nothing else but also conjur up familiar feelings and nostalgia for forgotten memories. All four are couched in dub with wispy melodies and frayed edges, smudged surfaces and poly rhythms that range from slow and bubbly to more urgent and fractured. They all endlessly mutate and leave you lost in a whole new sound world but wanting more.

Review: Ryan Coogler's 2025 period horror epic gets a double-barrelled musical treatment courtesy of longtime collaborator Ludwig Goransson, who helms both a star-studded original soundtrack and an original score. The Swedish composer, now LA-based, grounds the first in deep, smoky blues and soul i recorded live with Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, Hailee Steinfeld, Rod Wave and more i while the second is a sprawling instrumental suite full of spectral folk motifs and aching melodic fragments. Both releases came out the same day as the film in April 2025, via Sony Masterworks and Sony Classical respectively. From the soulful chug of 'This Little Light of Mine' and Rod Wave's moody title track, to the resonator-led gothic tension of 'Clarksdale Love' and 'Grand Closin'', the project fuses vintage fidelity with modern production flair. The musicianship is staggering throughout, captured across Royal Studios Memphis, Electric Lady in New York and more. Goransson's use of the same Dobro guitar carried by lead character Sammie Moore adds an uncanny weight to his score i the whole thing is textured, world-building work. This is Southern Gothic by way of jazz, blues, doom metal and chamber music i and a major release in both the soundtrack and score worlds.

Review: Released in 2012 to much comeback acclaim, John Foxx & The Maths' Evidence is one of few 2010s synth records whose brilliance doesn't require an evidence base. The long admired collaboration of Foxx (Ultravox) and Benjamin Davis Edwards (Benge), the 2012 incarnation saw the lineup addition of electronicist Hannah Peel, which is likely the reason behind a good chunk of its exploratory darkness, away from the earlier electropop attempts of Interplay and The Shape Of Things. Foxx's vocals ex-aspirate, in and out, like iron lungs, as modular moods pitter away in sequential automotion.

Everything Keeps Dissolving
Queens Of The Circulating Library
Chasms (part 1)
Chasms (part 2)
Review: Long mythologised and rarely heard in full, this 2000 concert at the Royal Festival Hall marks what many consider COIL's true live debut-a mesmerising, slow-blooming performance that bridges their austere studio experiments with a more ceremonial presence. With the lineup of John Balance, Peter Christopherson, Thighpaulsandra and Ossian Brown, the group traded chaos for control, donning polar fleece costumes and delivering a set that expands upon the tonal vocabulary of Time Machines while introducing a more dynamic, emotionally nuanced structure. 'Everything Keeps Dissolving' opens in murky reverie, before 'Queens Of The Circulating Library' sees Balance offer a restrained yet haunting vocal-less possessed, more meditative. The two-part 'Chasms' closes the set with depth-charge synths and slow tidal shifts, building tension without climax. Less an industrial confrontation than an alchemical unfolding, the performance remains one of the most quietly potent in the band's catalogue.

Deep Breath (An Ending)
Review: New Jersey's DJ Haram returns with a full-length offering that smoulders with fury, grief and defiance. Fusing the frenetic intensity of club music with Middle Eastern instrumentation, noise, punk and spoken word, she steers her signature chaos into darker and more focused terrain. Tracks like 'Stenography' and 'IDGAF' carry political weight in their grainy, serrated basslines, while collaborations with artists like Armand Hammer, Moor Mother and Bbymutha add barbed edges and emotional heft. Aquiles Navarro's trumpet on 'Remaining' lends a cinematic touch, contrasting with the searing distortions of 'Loneliness Epidemic'. Haram's production is consistently dense and vividitambourines crash against Jersey Club kicks, verses collapse into ambience, synths and darbuka blur into one. Yet amid the disorientation, there's clarity in her purpose: this is music as resistance, as rupture, as communal mourning and ecstatic release. From the whispered opening to the haunted final exhale of 'Deep Breath (An Ending)', it's a confrontational, often overwhelming listenibut never less than vital.

The mood stays low-lit throughout, but the range is wide - from the off-kilter shuffle of Sweely's 'AirFrance' and Hostom's dubbed-out 'Beyond The Apex' to Greg Paulus' twilight reverie 'Sometimes It's About Us'. Contributions come from artists scattered across Europe and the Americas, including Parisian keyboardist Paul Cut, Buenos Aires-born Barem, Berlin's Markus Sommer and LA mainstay Adam Collins.

Review: LMFP celebrates the 50th anniversary of You're A Good Sport, Charlie Brown with the first-ever release of Vince Guaraldi's complete soundtrack, set uniquely to 12" 45rpm zoetrope vinyl - the zoetrope extends up from the disc's circumference, animating a scene from the TV special, thus uniting sound and vision in full stroboscopic effect. Originally scored for the 1975 Emmy-winning Peanuts special by Charles Schulz, the record offers 14 soundtrack pieces plus unheard Peanuts cutting floor material, freshly mixed from the original 2" session tapes and mastered in high-bit, pristine sound. Guaraldi's iconic piano patters are heard accompanied by Seward McCain on electric contrabass, Mark Rosengarden on drums, and conducting by John Scott Trotter. Bonus tracks are also included, with unused opening cues and selections from Guaraldi's 1974 film Bicycles Are Beautiful.

Review: In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Naruto, 22d Music top up their excitations with a new, symphonic rendition of the music of the famous anime series. Beginning with a eureka moment shared between musician Jerome Leclercq and licensing company Mediatoon, the initial idea was to recreate the entire soundtrack for a live-streamable cinema concert in celebration of the imminent anniversary. Originally composed by Toshio Masuda, Naruto's OST is at its core a fusion project, blending traditional Japanese folk instruments such as the Shakuhachi and Shamisen with the familiar stylings of pop rock, effortlessly portraying the series' coming-of-age angst and ninja-starring energy and delivering it to an international audience, all while bottling the essence of the musical heritage of Japan. Reinterpreted by a 50-strong orchestra, and accompanied by an original montage of the best moments from the anime, this is a must-have for all the Naruto ultrafans out there.

Review: Before their name became shorthand for widescreen ambient melancholia, Stars of the Lid were two Texan misfits tracking guitar drones and tape murk on a four-track. Originally released in 1995, this debut captures Adam Wiltzie and Brian McBride in embryonic form - lo-fi and unpolished, but already drawn toward the slow dissolve that would define their later work. Tracks like 'Before Top Dead Center' and 'Madison' stretch out into flickering shadow, barely-there melodies adrift in delay and hiss. 'Lid (Live)' and 'Tape Hiss Makes Me Happy' speak to the duo's early collage mindset, rooted more in radio static and experimental tape culture than orchestral ambient. There's no grand arc here, just porous, slow-burning atmospheres that melt into one another - almost ambient in spite of itself. While less refined than later landmarks, it holds its own as a formative document, revealing how Stars of the Lid's minimalism always hinged on texture first, structure second. From Austin's rock heartland came something untethered - a stillness that would eventually ripple far beyond.

Review: Back in 2009, this Canadian synth pop act took the scene by storm with its exciting debut album. Whether it was the lipstick 80s melancholy of 'Mirroir Mirroir' or 'Don't Call or the minimalistic blending of disco and synth wave on the lead single 'If I Can't Hold You', the band's sound helped lead a vintage resurgence in this vein akin to Chromatics or Kate Bush. Led by the sultry vocals and delivery of Megan Louise, the album is a catchy example of underground melodic electronic pop music. This reissue helps meet the demand of one of the premier examples of a female led synth pop band in recent years.

Review: Comprised of saxophonist Sami Pekkola, double bassist Eero Tikkanen, electric guitarist Topias Tiheasalo and drummer Veeti Hietala, a young talent steeped in the country's experimental tradition, Phardah are a fresh yet seasoned ensemble from Finland who merge free azz with a psychedelic edge. Their debut release captures the energy of their raw, collective musicianship. Recorded by Teemu Markkula of Death Hawks, the band channels an expansive and free-spirited sound that swings between intense improvisation and nuanced composition. From the opening moments, the tracks allow the music to breathe, and the group explores vast sonic landscapes, where Tiheasalo's intricate guitar work steers the flow, aided by the groovy, pulsing rhythm section. The material showcases Phardah's signature balance of abstraction and clarity. The music flows with organic ease, moving from frenetic bursts to meditative grooves. Side B in particular elevates this fluidity, as the band captures an otherworldly energy, blending improvisational chaos with deliberate structure. Markkula's mix enhances the sense of vast space in the recordings, allowing each instrument to be fully heard while maintaining the group's united, bold sound. Phardah's live energy, first ignited at the 2023 Odysseus Festival, is palpable, and their sound resonates deeply with the spirit of Free Jazz, evoking both a sense of chaos and catharsis. Their debut serves as a striking introduction to a band that thrives in the moment and pushes musical boundaries.

Review: The second solo release from Hampshire-born singer and producer Alison Goldfrapp - that's provided you don't count her seven Goldfrapp albums - finds her leaning deeper into synthetic shimmer, sharp hooks and a kind of gleaming melancholy that feels both new and oddly familiar. Co-produced with Richard X and Stefan Storm, it's a glossy, laser-cut suite of synth pop that takes cues from her Supernature-era magnetism but turns the focus inward. Where previous work leaned theatrical, this time around there's a crack in the mirrorisomething tender showing through. Lead single 'Find Xanadu' sets the tone with a serotonin-drenched strut, but it's not all mirrorball sparkle. Underneath the high-gloss production lies a kind of emotional tension, most clearly felt in the quieter, slower tracks that trade euphoria for unease. The songwriting is sharper, more vulnerable, even as the sonics remain pristine. It's a brand new release, arriving via her own A.G. Records imprint and one that makes clear she's not coasting on legacy. If anything, the distance from her old duo has sharpened the edges. Still seductive, still in full command, but with less artifice and more acheiproof that pop doesn't need reinvention to feel revelatory. Just honesty, timing and a well-placed synth arpeggio.

Ancient Apparition (Patrick Russell Phantom remix)
Review: Kyntral is a co-founder of the so-far so-sophisticated Argentinian label Danza Nativa and he serves up a deeply immersive trip here. 'Inner Depths' is liquid deep techno in the mould of Neel or Donato Dozzy. Percolating rhythms and dubby undercurrents subsume mind and body while deft little details place you underwater. 'Bloodstone' is a little more lumpy with gentle smattering of percussion of drums that bump. 'Ancient Apparition' is a spacious sound with wispy pads disappearing to infinity, glassy tinkles and undulating drums all getting you into a meditative state. The Patrick Russell Phantom remix is more warped and dark to add a nice counterpoint.

Review: Aura Sonora return with a second release to follow up the fantastic first one, this time it brings together two meticulous studio craftsmen, DYL & Tammo Hesselink. Their Moire Patterns EP kicks off with 'Pattern 1', a deep and rhythmic slice of rubbery techno that rides broken beats with atmospheric pulses up top. 'Pattern 2 slows down to a predatory crawl with icy pads making fro a dystopian vibe then 'Pattern 3' brings a sense of mystic tribal ritual deep in some futuristic jungle and 'Pattern 4' closes down with more fantastically crafted, dubby, broken rhythms that are topped with organic percussion and almost impossible not to move to. Pure rhythm science brilliance.

Review: Leroi Conroy - the studio alias of Colemine Records founder Terry Cole - finally steps out from the ambush with a roaring bang: A Tiger's Tale, a debut LP nearly a decade in the works, was conceived as an alternate soundtrack to Kipling's The Jungle Book, and deals in themes of humanity's conquest over nature: be this done through its snarling brass, lo-fi drum grit, and Hammond cinematics. Much of the rhythm section was recorded as early as 2016 on a trusty Tascam 388, and the first two cuts dropped as a 45 in 2017, which surprisingly did the Wu Tang clan a solid, the latter track ending up sampled by DJ Premier, Raekwon and Ghostface. Now with cameos from Colemine regulars Kelly Finnigan and Jimmy James, and drums from longtime collaborator Rob Houk, this is a raw roar, and a striping, tigrine suite of funk and soul.

Review: Portland-based trio KILN deliver an opulent display of hue and swing across 12 tracks that showcase their finely hewn concoction of visual tones and vital pulse. Drawing from over thirty years of collaboration, they distill immersive sprawl into compact, punchy, and colorful sound. Combining live performance, beatmaking, and waveform sculpting, the trio creates evocative dioramas that continue to surprise and enchant. Riding waves of hi-meets-lo-fi, their work forms a panchromatic daymark designed to biochemically align and stimulate your personal syntax, weaving a tapestry of sonic reveries from the aquarium-on-fire radiance of 'DrnkGrlfrnd', through the garden groove of field-recorded percussion on 'Maplefunk Diptych', to the sizzling guit-noise whiteout of 'Deacon Rayhand'. Expanding on long-explored themes of mosaic texture, subtle melancholy, eroded consonance, and vivid cadence, this release reveals yet another aperture into their unique magnetic universe.

Review: New York's James K returns with her third album and most complete vision to date-a fragile lattice of haunted vocals, ambient shoegaze and dream-state electronics that gently disorient and dissolve. While still rooted in the foggy intimacy of earlier work, these tracks feel more sculpted, like memory filtered through soft-focus reverb and delay. Her voice remains the anchor: breathy, flickering, always on the cusp of vanishing. Tracks like 'Deeprose' and 'Open My Heart' flicker with trip-hop melancholy, while the ghostly pulse of 'Stupid' or the vaporised chamber-pop of 'I Don't Know' suggest a private language unfolding in real time. There's a deliberate softness to everything here-compositions that move like weather, both enveloping and elusive. Long involved in the DIY scenes that trace between New York and Berlin, K distils years of collaborative texture into something singular and uncanny.

Review: "The most personal truths I have explored to date are found within those lines," says Lucrecia Dalt on course to the ribbon cutting release moment of her new record A Danger To Ourselves. Written in early 2024, in the afterglow of touring her last record iAy! and the blush of a new relationship, the album swaps abstract narration for lyric fragments jotted on the move, with decided love declarations shaped through looping rhythms, spare harmonic scaffolds and granular-synthesised voices. The right hand of one David Sylvian is heard co-producing and guiding several of the tracks, lending a kind of spectral ballast, while other of Dalt's fellows and contemporaries such as Juana Molina, Camille Mandoki and Eliana Joy help anchor the record's quieter emotional spikes. With Alex Lazaro again on drums, the skeletal pulse returns, but it's now contoured by string swells and chamber addenda, making for a refreshing detox record.

Review: Finnish guitarist, tech and visual artist Ville Valavuo's Commemoration Songs plays back like a diary scrawled in sound, traversing eight pieces shaped by disillusion, exhaustion and flickers of hope in a world driven by profit and hollow spectacle. Tracing through recordings made over three sessions in 2024, the record layers free jazz sax lines with soft-focus analogue synth and Rhodes motifs, as well as echo-soaked percussion and sinewy basslines. The record's title nods to a darker irony: honouring the architects of a world-system that survives by immanentising its own violence. As if to match the fact, Valavuo handles nearly everything himself, from tenor and alto sax to shakuhachi, clarinet, programming, and even the front cover layout.

Review: Past Inside The Present boss zake, Joachim Spieth and Markus Guentner join forces for a collaborative work that flits gracefully down the seam ambient and drone music. The vision unfolds across eight tracks, from the opener 'Elysium' and its almost hymn-like grandeur and the airy swathes of synth on 'Horizon', right through to the super sustained notes of 'Utopia' at its end. A meditational listen for sure, but one with plenty of mood peaks and troughs along the way.
