Last Dayz (USB)
Cat: 708464 Rel: 07 Dec 18 • View all Memory sticks & SD cards

USB memory stick containing 'Last Dayz' EP by Plata + encrypted additional tracks
Notes: Circadian Rhythms releases thus far have embodied conceptual formats with this latest offering being no different, tackling the issue of mental health that is becoming alarmingly frequent within today's world. This being in the form of a USB EP from Spanish producer Plata (inspired by his own battles with bipolar), a follow up to his rapid sellout collaboration with Missing no for CR's first ever release.

However, this is more than an EP, the track listing initially advertises 3, when in fact there are 30+ tracks, encrypted in a file format designed by the artist. These will be distributed on and offline (through QR codes) and can only be extracted with software on the USB, as a ploy to encourage physical engagement with music as opposed to streaming in mass consumption.

This product contains a licensed Plata Solutions extractor available only with purchase of physical release. All supporting media is provided in Plata format. When undergoing file extraction, always use the correct file format to avoid corruption. Unauthorised sharing or distribution of this tool is strictly prohibited.

Contents of Box:

- 512mb USB CARD
- Last Dayz EP (WAV)
- Last Dayz EP (MP3)
- Plata Solutions software (For Windows/Mac/Linux)

シングル
Words (12")
Cat: IFS 012. Rel: 04 Dec 18
  1. Words (feat Dutchie) (4:34)
  2. LAX (5:07)
  3. Words (Sax cut) (4:35)
Review: While Infernal Sounds' releases often come from little-known or previously unheralded dubstep artists, their latest EP is the product of two very experienced producers: sometime Moonshine Recordings regular Bukkha and Californian duo Subtle Mind. Sweet soul vocalist Dutchie lends a hand on A-side "Words", providing a dreamy, emotion-rich focal point above the trio's crunchy rhythm, dub-wise flourishes and booming bass. On the flip, jaunty, flute style melodies flutter around warm chords and an exotic rhythm track on loved-up workout "LAX", before the North American threesome add some snaking sax and clarinet solos to a slightly reworked instrumental take on "Words".

  1. Reptilian Bitch (4:41)
  2. Wob (3:47)
  3. Reptilian Bitch (LSN remix) (4:40)
  4. Rollin' (4:40)
Review: Like a many Britons, Chad Dubz doesn't have much time for Prime Minister Theresa May, who was, at the time of writing, still just about clinging on to her job. He's not only included a demonic painting of the "Maybot" as a "Reptilian Bitch" (his words, not ours) on the record's centre labels, but also made a thrillingly angular and heavy dubstep smasher as a kind of artistic two-fingered salute. LSN's flipside remix of the title track ratchets up the distorted analogue bass and mind-altering electronics, while also adding some suitably exasperated and sweary vocal samples. Elsewhere, "Wob" is a deep stepper powered by a gargantuan wobble bassline, while "Rollin'" not only does exactly what it says on the tin, but also includes the EP's deepest, heaviest bassline.

Sly (hand-stamped 10")
Cat: CVWL 002. Rel: 11 Jan 19
  1. Sly (5:15)
  2. Teardrops (5:51)
Review: Following last summer's scorching anonymous first CV white label "War / Fan Dem Off", RDG's label returns with another mysterious never-to-be-repressed doublet. Fittingly cold and wintry for this time of year, both "Sly" and the much-coveted "Teardrop" are taken to glacial places. Deep, smoky, spacious and foggy, both cuts burn long smouldering fires both at home and in the dance. Grab them while they're ice cold.

  1. Jah Hear Me (5:31)
  2. Missing Link (4:40)
Review: For the latest sub-heavy missive on his fast-rising Navy Cut label, Jack Sparrow has turned to his friend in bass, Fiend - and the shadowy producer has duly delivered. The real killer - to our ears, at least - is A-side "Jah Hear Me", an ultra-deep affair where reggae vocal samples echo across the soundscape and creepy ambient chords slowly pulse above a hushed rhythm track and rubling, super-low sub-bass. It's one that we could see appealing just as much to ambient astronaughts and deep dubstep heads. Over on side B, "Missing Link" offers up a sturdier rhythm, heavier bass, alien effects and a serious deep space atmosphere.

Bluefoot (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: IMRV 025. Rel: 11 Dec 18
  1. Bluefoot (4:43)
  2. Choose Life (4:26)
Review: Since 2015, deep dubstep explorer Corin Bornoff AKA Karma has put out one EP a year. This year's was delayed, it seems, but it has finally appeared - just as 2018 is wheezing its' last, scarlet-faced breath. Opener "Bluefoot" was arguably worth the wait, though. Built around a skewed but still stepping, reggae-fired dubstep "ridim", the track shuffles along on a wave of hushed shakers, ultra-deep sub-bass and intergalactic dub-wise effects. Over on the flipside, "Choose Life" is surprisingly positive, with Bornoff wrapping ear-catching synthesizer melodies, alien electronics and UK steppas style bass around a punchy drum track.

  1. She Saw The Whole Thing (5:36)
  2. She Saw The Whole Thing (Fill Spectre version) (6:41)
Review: Denver don Malleus dials up the emotions once again. "She Saw The Whole Thing" sways with his now signature pensive, poignant crawl. Smoky, unhurried and laced with layers of instruments, there's a barbed soul humming throughout... And some deliciously bulbous subs in the mix, too. Fill Spectre joins the fray on the B with more of a gnarled remix that contains some additional sampled elements that punctuate the beat in a way that's kinda reminiscent of Pretty Lights. One for the head, the other for the soul; both for the deepest of dances, Gourmet feast us once again...
