The Advent - "Passive Aggressive" (4:54)
The Advent - "Passive Aggressive" (Truncate remix) (4:21)
The Advent - "Remote Viewing" (5:01)
G Flame - "Ignacio" (7:09)
Review: Long-time hard techno champion The Advent is back with more of his mind-melting work on Truncate's self-titled label. Title cut 'Passive Aggressive' opens with a loopy mental workout that is underpinned by nice dubby low ends. Truncate remixes and layers in some icy, fizzy pads and pressured drum grooves, then 'Remote Viewing' brings some uneasy peak time anxiousness with its wonky lines and prickly synths. Also included is a bonus by G Flame, which brings a direct and delicious Detroit house vibe that goes deeper.

Nico Babylon - "Drum Major" (10:03)
The Jak & Nico Babylon - "This Nasty Possession" (9:30)
Review: The Jak and Nico Babylon have been busy and have two split EPs dropping on the Dirty Blends label this month, and both are grimy house workouts. Dirty Blends presents a loose early house 12" with two standout tracks. First up is new associate Nico Babylon with a hypnotic, conceptual production built around vintage synths and syncopated rhythms that push jakbeat to the next level with meticulous craftsmanship. On the flip, 'This Nasty Possession' is a collaboration between The Jak and Nico, rooted firmly in the mid-80s Chicago underground sound, inspired by the Gherkin and Gene Hunt era. Every element was handcrafted with no samples used, thereby preserving the authentic, old-school vibe to perfection.

Technique (4:55)
Beyond Time (4:51)
Junction 12 (5:10)
3AM (4:49)
Review: North West-based techno head Tom Carruthers throws it back to the deep and dusty analogue thrills of the late 80s with this retro house pouting for the Netherlands' peerless Clone Jack For Daze. Opener 'Technique' is a steamy and lo-fi jaunt with mysterious lead. 'Beyond Time' has a classic old school bassline beneath curious, drifting melodies and tidy drums. 'Junction 12' has a little more punch and brings to mind the melancholy of Dream 2 Science and '3AM' layers in some hope and optimism in its brighter melodies, though a gurgling baseline still nags away down low.

Ciron - "Villain" (6:55)
Sasha Zlykh - "Ketamine Chic" (7:01)
Local 23 - "Electrofornication" (7:44)
Ciron - "Data Transparency" (6:16)
Review: Four tracks on the debut release from this emerging French label, and four tracks that leave their mark on the electro landscape at the get go. Ciron's 'Villain' is a moody, prowling cut that sounds like a neon-lit detective theme, then Sasha Zlykh's 'Ketamine Chic' follows, psychedelic and a bit cheeky with off kilter melodies and trance-tinged textures injecting fun energy. Flip it over and Local 23's 'Electrofornication' brings a nice sense of space and movement, as if cruising through a digital city at night, before Ciron's 'Data Transparency' ends proceedings with its vintage sounding 80s synths. Helping to take that VHS graphic aesthetic and vapourwave style into the electro genre, Plazeg's debut is impressive enough to make it a label to look out for in the future.

Drivetrain - "Persuasion" (7:09)
DJ Cent - "Send Me" (5:49)
DistantLover - "Green Eyes" (5:48)
Marshall Applewhite - "Front To Back" (4:10)
Review: 'Resilience' captures the unmistakable energy of Detroit's streets, signature high-tech soul and underground grit into one essential release on the long-essential Soiree label. Drivetrain's 'Persuasion' kicks off with churning mechanical funk, equal parts seductive and relentless. DJ Cent's 'Send Me' follows with a sub-heavy rhythm barrage built to shake foundations and Distant Lover's 'Green Eyes' injects disco-infused heat aimed squarely at the dancefloor with infectious string loops and a hella funky bassline. Marshall Applewhite closes with 'Front to Back' a fast-paced, no-holds-barred techno assault that pushes BPMs and boundaries, but remains warm and supple. This is Detroit distilled into rough, resilient and futuristic sounds.

Bogey Hole Boogie (7:35)
Review: London's Fraise Records signs up Elijah Something & Wilba for their debut EP, which was written over the end of last year on the Clovelly coastline in the West Country. All of the tunes offer something interesting and way above standard loopy folder, with opener 'Hazelnut Hustle' mixing up spaced out pads with gritty tech beats. 'The Diamond Heist' has lovely synth sequences unfurling over the razor sharp hi hats and mid-tempo drums and then 'Off Duty Brian' gets more smooth and paced with an uptime house trip layered with balmy chords. 'Bogey Hole Boogie' shuts down with hefty kicks and jacked-up claps for some raw workouts.

The Deepshakerz, Divine, Nhan Solo - "Hey Now!" (4:59)
Swing Original Monks, Ordonez - "Caminito" (5:58)
Sllash & Doppe - "Bekaboo" (6:31)
Review: After three years spent offering up digital download releases, Berlin outlet Neighbourhood (frequently styled NBHD Music, fact fans) has finally made its vinyl bow. Their first wax missive is a pleasingly taster affair featuring a wealth of gems from the imprint's digital catalogue. Fex kicks things off with the SOS Band-sampling nu-disco/deep house fusion of 'Fall In Love', before The Deepshakerz, Dhivine and Nhan Solo join forces on 'Hey Now', a bouncy, percussion-rich tribal house take on Nigerian favourite 'Iko Iko'. Over on side B, Swing Original Monks and Ordonez combine on the sweat-soaked, drum-heavy Latin house heat of 'Caminito', while Silash & Doppe unleash the slow-build, bass-heavy pressure of late-night loop jam 'Bekaboo'.

Get Fucked - "Charlies Knickers" (remastered version) (7:35)
Nils Hess - "Alcohol Is My Favourite" (The Staggering Fools mix) (7:17)
Review: Get Fucked might be one of the best DJ aliases ever, and the music the London pair of Nathan Coles and Nils Hess kicked out is also top draw. Now two of their early naughties classics are being reissued starting with a remastered version of 'Charlie's Knickers' which is super tight and kicking tech house with a fat bassline and mystical pads swirling around an alluring vocal. Also featured here is a previously unheard version of Nils Hess' 'Alcohol Is My Favourite' (The Staggering Fools mix) which is another archetypal tech house vibe with physical drums and perfectly weighted bass. Two bona-fide bombs.

Wait A Minute (6:36)
Wait A Minute (G&D remix) (6:19)
Wait A Minute (Relative Peaktime mix) (6:51)
The Prince (GN mix) (5:26)
Review: Italian trio Joyfull Family is composed of Chico Perulli, Guido Nemola and Cristian Carpentieri and they all deliver timeless house heat on their Wait A Minute EP. The original 'Wait A Minute' has the characterful musings of the late great Gil Scott Heron over a fat bassline and vamping chords that are full of promise. It's a roller that's perfect for warm-ups. G&D's remix adds raw, grinding drum funk and vintage loopy and soulful vibes that feel fresh. Relative's Peaktime Mix cranks up the energy with chunky kicks and intense build-ups and 'The Prince' (GN Mix) has a more clean and synth-laced sound that nods to acid.

Tech This Out (part 1) (7:39)
Tech This Out (part 1 - Atjazz remix) (8:56)
Tech This Out (part 1 - Yoruba Soul mix) (10:31)
Review: Karizma's latest offering proves that simple ingredients assembled with love and skill often yield the best results. There's nothing over-egged about Tech This Out, but its compelling less-is-more approach impressed label boss Atjazz so much he heralded the release as one of the "best underground house records ever made." Karizma, who hails from Maryland, has always been a master of rhythm and he proves it here as pulsing chords glide over loose-but-locked drums, rolling toms and sub-rooted bass. Pure and timeless, it grooves beautifully i and it's easy to see what got Atjazz so excited. His remix sounds mighty fine too, naturally leaning into the OG while adding some percussive depth, while the Yoruba Soul version strips things back further, with harmonic overdubs taking the arrangement for a meandering walk.

Midnight Groove (6:07)
Easy Gold (6:33)
Walkman (6:43)
Direct Disko (6:08)
Review: Sounds label continues to impress with its reissues, and this release from 1998 is no exception. Kicking off with 'Midnight Groove' on Side-A, the track offers a minimal beat layered with a warehouse-style funk and the signature filtered house sound that defined the era. Its smooth yet gritty feel brings back the vibes of late-night warehouse parties. Following that, 'Easy Gold' brings a more upbeat, tech-house vibe. With clean production and a funky edge, this track is catchy and radiates a feel-good energy, perfect for those who love a solid, uptempo groove. On Side-B, 'Walkman' offers a nod to 80s electro funk, infusing the release with a nostalgic touch while still feeling fresh and funky. The veteran producer brings a depth and precision to this track, highlighting his experience in the genre. Closing out the release, 'Direct Disko' unleashes a dynamic, ravey energy, packed with high-octane tech house elements that propel the track forward. This reissue encapsulates the golden era of 90s house while remaining timeless.

Review: Emerging Italian producer Mama lays down his anticipated 'Sottopasso' EP, building on Exarde's now longstanding vision in neon-steeped dance music set to white inner labelled vinyl. Each track has a personal resonance with Mama's experiences and memories of noughts Italy, and with cover art by graffiti legend Gkoner, we've a a mysterious, eerie entrancer on our hands, tempered by the allure of graff culture. In our opinion, 'Toti' and '20875' are the funnelling accelerants of choice here, blazing noxious exhaust fumes in their similarly speedy future techno wakes.

LSI Dreaming (5:09)
Review: Japanese producer Mayurashka makes a thrilling debut on Rhythm Section International with LSI Dreaming, a genre-warping trip full of surprises. 'Parents and God' opens with a pounding Chicago house beat a la Mr. Fingers before veering into soulful organ solos and electro chaos that's disjointed yet hypnotic. 'Notango' dives into tribal psychedelia, while 'Vat Murmur' lifts us with disco urgency and a bassline fit for Larry Levan. The title track, 'LSI Dreaming,' defies categorisation by melding tech-house grooves with surreal, lysergic intensity. Mayurashka's genius lies in her fearless experimentation for blurring genre lines to deliver music that's weird yet danceable.

Make The Trip Work (Pure Science remix) (7:35)
Stole A Car (6:34)
Stole A Car (Oshana Grand Theft remix) (7:37)
Review: The Molecule is a collaborative project from E-NUMBERS label heads Bobby O'Donnell, a much-loved scene legend in Leeds, and Quixano. It is a 12" of deep, UK-rooted club music that combines tech and minimal into futuristic new forms. 'Make The Trip Work' is a nuanced groove with a kinetic rhythm and masterfully designed breakbeats that make your body pop. Pure Science strips things back to a wavy deep tech cut with mumbling acid and diffuse synths that bring that sense of first morning sun after an all-night session. 'Stole A Car' is eyes-wide, peak-time trip tackle with wriggling bass, jacked up hits and occult spoken words all rewiring your senses. 'Stole A Car' (Oshana Grand Theft remix) is more reflective with meaningful synth work over cool broken drum patterns.

Powerful Play (5:35)
Powerful Play (Andhim remix) (5:51)
Review: After 'Mesmerized', tech prog Berliner Monolink evolves further with 'Powerful Play', also released through Embassy One; again uniquely fusing live instrumentation and electronica progressions. The track delves into themes of impermanence and presence, with an accompanying video directed by Vasco Alexandre and produced by Copenhagen's Franzi, exploring fraternity through surreal and haunting imagery. The track itself is a bubbly one, with impulse-responsive phonetic FX contrasting to super-calming, layered sotto vocals from Monolink himself.

Ness - "Labritex" (7:15)
Review: The Gods Planet returns for the second collaboration with LDG on Chronoscope Vol. 2 and, like the first time around, delivers four expertly crafted cuts of refined techno and minimalism. Side A sees Us mainstay Mike Parker at his most focused and offering two relentless tracks defined by his trademark precision and hypnotic, tunnel-vision aesthetic. On the flip, Yuta/O-MA opens with a stripped-down, bleep-forward minimal piece that's both subtle and razor-sharp. Ness rounds out the EP with a deep, atmospheric techno trip rich in tribal textures and immersive groove. A cohesive and forward-thinking, no-compromise techno outing.

Got Me Down (7:52)
Review: Danish producer S.A.M. returns to Chris Stussy's Up The Stuss with a pair of razor-sharp weapons that have already been doing serious damage in clubs. 'Hit You With My Phone' is a chaotic belter-all warped vocals, shuffling hats and gnarly, bass-driven swagger. It teeters on the edge of collapse but never loses control, the kind of track that grabs dancers by the collar and doesn't let go. An acapella version appears alongside it, primed for adventurous DJs. B-side 'Got Me Down' dials things into a sleeker, heads-down mode: slinky bass, swung percussion, and an undercurrent of tension that simmers just beneath the surface. It's a less manic foil to the A-side's energy, offering versatility for deeper sections of a set. With support from Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler and Rey Colino, this third UTSOFF drop confirms S.A.M.'s ability to hit both peak-time and after-hours pressure points with equal force.

Review: V.I.C.A.R.I. hails from Sheffield and has spent many years in the scene dancing, collecting and experimenting. His sound is very much of the now but devoid of any fads. 'Live In Holland' kicks off with tight, clipped drums and rasping bass phrases with subtle melodies and wordless vocals add the character. 'Morning, Noon & Night' rides on crisp, crunchy drums with whirring machine tones and 'Partial Disk Recovery' is a digital day dream with glistening pads and chunky drums that bounce while 'Show Me That You Care' shuts down with an old school twist and killer sample that really tugs at the heart. Four well made, deadly effective jams.

Review: Wade Watts and Sir Rizio step up with this standout new EP, their debut for the label after a warmly received appearance on the always interesting Greyscale. They hail from the suburbs of Jo'burg which is where they have cooked up these seriously flavoursome and stripped-back sounds. 'Atlas' kicks off with rolling drums and widescreen dub chords that sink you into a warm world of fluid groove. 'Limitless Progression' keeps the depths coming with rattling and classic dub hits and smoky pads, while an EmmaSoul dub mix on the flip heads into heady territory and 'Innermost Existence' brings some wisps of melodic light to the fore.

Bang To The Beat Of This (5:42)
I'll Be Careful (6:13)
Welcome To The Future (6:09)
Santa Cruz (6:21)
Review: UK producer Wodda assembles four speed garage and house hybrids that reflect a slow-burning evolution in his sound. 'Bang to the Beat of This' opens with filtered sirens and detuned chords, cutting into a tough, swung rhythm that leans more peak-time than previous outings. 'I'll Be Careful' switches pace with a more upbeat palette: bright chord stabs, clipped vocal chops and a rolling low-end that nods clearly to early 2000s UKG. On the flip, 'Welcome to the Future' maintains the same rhythmic density but strips back the melodic detail, focusing on percussive drive and stabbing bass pressure. 'Santa Cruz' closes the set on a looser, more playful note i 90s-referencing synth lines sit above swung drums and a rounded, slightly overdriven bassline. The sequencing shows range without stretching too far and the mixdown keeps things functional without feeling raw. A direct and well-balanced outing from a producer who's clearly refining his tools.

Review: This hefty slab is a deep, spacey homage to the pioneers of the Muzik Box era - those who redefined dance music through fearless innovation and some real emotional truth. This atmospheric cut channels the spirit of underground resistance and reverence and is a message to those who truly understand and respect the roots of Jakbeat. This is no throwaway genre, it's sacred ground. On the flip, 'Psycho Pipe' sees Kincaid and The Jak pay tribute to Marcus Mixx and the twisted legacy of Sabre Records. A warped, mental ride into 'Psychousic,' it's built strictly for the heads who remember the old-school freakzone.

Review: Petre Inspirescu (Radu Dumitru Bodiu) delivers a pair of 12" discs as part of a single album release, each devoted to a single expansive, pastorally inclined track. The singular LP, his fifth so far, explores minimalist and classical influences with a slowly vibe-accruing, methodical approach, reminiscent but not fideistic of serialist music. The result is subtle: 'Those That Tremble' recalls the willowing boughs of a great glen as we skip and prance through it, while 'For Very Hard It Is' moves deeper in the low end and makes great use of tuned organs, refashioned gourd sounds and buxom woodwinds. The release continues the exploration of patient, intricate sound design by the Romanian DJ and producer.

Review: Cocoon's iconic compilation series returns with its 22nd volume, and it soon becomes clear Sven Vath's label still knows how to curate forward-thinking electronic music with precision and style. While Cocoon has long been associated with quality techno and electro, this series has become its true hallmark. Presented on a deluxe vinyl edition where each track gets its own side, the sonic fidelity is pristine and gives each production the space it deserves. Superpitcher's 'Dream B' is a futuristic techno voyage that swells with melodic elegance and otherworldly textures. DC Salas shifts the mood with 'Escapism'. a track steeped in Goa trance vibes but grounded with a modern, polished edge. Marcel Fengler delivers 'Aura', a euphoric and high-energy techno track. Joe Metzenmacher's 'Da Freak' brings funky flavor into the mix, with an infectious bassline that demands repeat listens. Joseph Capriati surprises with 'Cosmopop', leaning into a lush 80s-inspired synth pop and electro pop. Matthias Schildger's 'Distorter' closes with pounding broken beats, injecting grit and tension into the collection.

Review: Sheffield producer Tommy Vicari Jr. offers us a vicarious opportunity to join him on a trip across the UK and beyond, through his chosen vehicle of organic tech house. For some reason he's named his latest compilation LP after the Middlesex pianist Adrian Snell, although the connection between him and releasing label Curtea Veche is difficult to ascertain - the eponymous track on the B1 could provide a clue, as it sounds as though it samples the pulchritudinous piano playing of the great Snell himself. The likes of 'Heart Not Head' and 'Play Misty For Yourself' also espouse great philosophies in the track titles, complementing each of their freewheeling, spiritual tech house attitudes, replete with jiving string movement and lighthearted tonality.

Drums Are Dangerous (Todd Modes Full Moon mix)
Where Were U In 92? (Colter Carson mix)
Review: Three years after launching their collaborative EP series, Eden Burns and Christopher Tubbs return to Public Possession with volume four. The headline attraction is clearly 'Dangerous Drums', which is presented in a trio of takes. Two of these come from the duo themselves: the TB-303 flecked original mix, which sees them explore the trippy and mind-altering potential of tech-house via wayward electronics, dead-eyed spoken word snippets and undulating synth sounds, and a more hypnotic (and melodically picturesque) 'Heads Down Dub'. Detroit producer Todd Modes delivers his own interpretation to open side B, delivering a fiendishly percussive interpretation that sits somewhere between tribal house and low-slung dub disco, before Colsten Carsen provides a nostalgic, warehouse ready re-fix of the duo's 2022 cut 'Where Were You In '92?'.

Review: Back on Craigie Knowes with his first EP in three years, Glasgow's The Burrell Connection brings four studio and live recordings steeped in murky pressure and off-world melody. 'I Waste My Time So You Don't Have To' opens with 'E Before I', a long-circulated roller fired in Berlin's late hours and recently aired live at Tresor. The live version's stripped propulsion sits in contrast to the dubbed-out sprawl of 'Celestial' and the gauzy synth layers on 'Ensemble', each pushing at different ends of the palette without loosing the thread.

Notice Board
Hello, Acid Dathera (Retake)
Review: The agenda-setting Sushitech has a just as influential sub-label, Pariter, which welcomes the one and only tech house instigator, Terry Francis, for a rare and essential reissue. Francis was there at the birth of original tech house with his killer Wiggle parties and fabric residency and now kicks off what will be a limited series that digs into his archives. These first offerings were originally released on Eukahouse 25 years ago, with opener 'Notice Board' bringing a thumping low end and wiggling bassline that is topped with smooth chord work. 'Hello, Acid Dathera' (unreleased retake version) is a busier sound with a tribal edge and restless drums and bass with acid daubs and crisp hi-hats, making it a full body workout.

Review: Two decades deep and still pushing, UK producer Huxley lands on Rekids for the first time with the four-track 'Mind G%mes' EP. A former Rinse resident with releases on Aus, Hypercolour and 20:20 Vision, the tracks here make up a bling ringing blur, dealing in the same lineaments of dark, garage and funky he's been immersed in since the start. 'Club Sh%t' sticks out for it lightfooted, faux cowbell turned tuned blips; 'Fear N%thing' is equally salient for its slurping textures and cascading sprays in the surround sound, as they bed a chirruping vocal line.
