100th Monkey & Tristan - "Gobi Desert" (Parallax Deep edit) (7:51)
Four Carry Nuts - "Bunker" (Parallax Deep edit) (9:08)
Review: There is a great backstory to this new one on Blue Hour: when Stockholm producer, DJ and promoter Maya Lourenco aka Parallax Deep was digging for music in the local Snickers Record store, she found two classic goa and psy trance tracks that particularly interested her. As such she snapped them up, took them home and began to work on her own distinctive edits of them, rearranging sections, cutting up bits and adding extra details while never getting too far away from the essence of the originals. Her edits of those two originals - 'Gobi Desert' by 100th Monkey & Tristan from 1995 - and 2000's 'Bunker' by Four Carry Nuts - are pressed up here and both sound brilliant.

Review: New label D59B Recordings takes you on a journey through the deeper shades of electronics on their inaugural release. It's quite a mixed bag yet it still remains consistent throughout, whether it's the deep chug of Canadian Eddie C's meditative 'Winter', TCB's descent into the cosmic hole on 'Spring' or Sardinian hypnotic techno expert Claudio PRC's icy dub techno soundscape (ironically) titled 'Summer' - you will definitely experience four seasons in a day on Fall Winter Spring Summer Vol 1.

Terrence Dixon - "Daily Routine"
Obsolete Music Technology - "Past Virtue"
Plural - "07"
Jamal M - "Fine & Mellow"
Windimoto - "Friday Night: UBQ"
Review: A hefty double 12" from Generator features a slew of basement techno bombs from both sides of the Atlantic (oh, and Australia). From the pounding, relentless throb of Abstract Science's "The Grinder" to the shuffling groove of "Detroitism" by DJ-T 1000, the eight tracks cover the full breadth of techno's rich sonic landscape. Other highlights include the broken beats and woodblock percussion on Plural's "07" and the more experimental vibe of "Fine & Mellow" by Mathematics boss and general Chicago underground legend, Jamal M. An unmissable collection of tracks packaged in highly collectable artwork by Alan Oldham, who was also responsible for the superbly illustrated Defenders Of The Deep House World EP that surfaced on Third Ear a few months back.

Adesse - "Baayi"
Truss - "Redbrook"
Massimo Di Lena - "You Better Hear"
Review: The ever-correct Prime Numbers series is still going strong, this time bringing together a thoroughly eclectic range of producers to lay down some solid club fodder. Adesse adopts the tenderest approach, bringing a soft African lilt to a subtle arrangement of light drums and poignant chords with the whole A side to drape a deep house opus over. Truss is certainly in no mood to chill on "Redbrook", going for a big room techno flavour that favours rigid beats, acid parps and epic swathes of organ. Massimo Di Lena is on a far more twitchy tip, with a snagging assortment of percussion and some woozy synths that leave one feeling wonderfully dizzy.

LCP - "Off Limits" (5:22)
Books - "Cosine" (4:57)
Review: Fresh off the back of Cryptographic's intense 'Echo' release comes this fitting V/A from the ever-intriguing Swiss experimental 170 label Re:st. Music to realign our Covid-ravaged chakras to 'Re:align' introduces three new names to the label; Alternate Current steams out of the gates with a dub techno juggernaut 'Borrowed Language' while Dreadmaul & Tobe:n whip a rhythmic stampede that's screaming to be unleashed on a big system with 'Homunculus'. Flip for two slightly more cosmic tales as label founder LCP gently pats us down with the trickling lolloping loops of 'Off Limits' before Books signs us out with the sparse and skippy 'Cosine'. Refine your alignments.

Amato Y Mariana - "Quieres Bailar" (5:39)
The Sixteen Steps - "Montgat" (6:46)
His Dirty Secrets - "Structures" (6:15)
Further Reductions - "Another Stranger" (4:56)
Review: BOOM! Our favourites, Cititrax, roll the third editions of Tracks out onto our shelves, and the results are unsurprisingly strong on this excellent various artists comp. It's a mixed bag of skills, as per usual, and the sounds are those of a new NYC, fuelled by a new sort of post-industrial sensibility. Amato Y Mariana open with the tight beats and groove of "Queires Bailar", followed closely by the ominous compositions of the EBM-flavoured "Montgat" from The Sixteen Steps. On the flip, His Dirty Secrets bleeps out some morphed acid on "Structures", and "Another Stranger" from Further Reductions churns out a slow, mild-mannered house experiment with its roots clearly planted in the coldest of waves. Sick.

Review: Tommy Four Seven's eponymous imprint returns with more bleak and dystopian techno tools of industrial strength grade. Featuring the always ferocious Ancient Methods and the wonky drones of "System", Berlin duo Oake hypnotise you into submission as always with their esoteric imaginary soundtrack entitled "Anaxamines" before Italian producer VSK delivers the EPs finest moment on the rather Surgeon sounding broken techno stomper "Breaking Symmetry". The man himself T47 closes this fine EP out with the shredding body bash of "Dromod" that's mangled up amongst metallic textures, grinding sub bass and generous servings of clipped distortion; business as usual!

Apparat - "Sayulita" (DJ-Kicks)
Telefon Tel Aviv - "Lengthening Shadows"
Apparat - "Circles"
Review: Apparat's induction into the DJ-Kicks Hall Of Fame proved to be an engaging and at times hauntingly brilliant listen that was not stunted in any way by Sascha Ring's inexperience in the art of mixing two tracks together. The requisite vinyl sampler to accompany the mix allows your senses to fully appreciate the tracks produced especially for the mix by Ring himself and his buddy Telefon Tel Aviv. "Sayulita" is named in homage to the Mexican town Ring called home during the track's inception and removed from the mix the plaintive atmospherics really impress, combined with the organic Hebden-esque percussive 130bpm shuffle. The flipside commences with "Lengthening Shadows", an equally wistful sojourn through electronica from the aforementioned Telefon Tel Aviv that opts to meld the brooding ethereal atmospherics with an almighty industrial half step kick. Apparat's opening gambit from the DJ-Kicks mix, "Circles" rounds things off in equally spooky fashion.

Ben Gibson - "Floating Shadows" (6:46)
Tripsolate & Redundaent - "Akay" (9:50)
Review: Bari, Puglia based SUBOSC is helmed by producer Kaelan and presents four excursions through the more hypnotic and cerebral strains of techno. Berlin's Artefakt starts off on the A side with with the trance inducing reductionism of "Curvature Of Mind", while Italian Alan Backdrop returns after what seems like a long absence from the scene, but he's back in form on the exquisite sound design of "Quaraman". On the flip there's Kiwi Ben Gibson with the Millsian touch of "Floating Shadows" which will certainly draw you down into the abyss, while local duo Tripsolate & Redundaent offer up something a bit more different on the electro/dub techno crossover of "Akay" and as unusual as this hybrid must sound, it really works and is truly a highlight. Review: Some of Europe's finest purveyors of underground sounds come together on this fourth rase from the One Eye Witness label out of the Netherlands. Asphalt DJ kicks off and lays out a steamroller of a techno banger in 'Blades' which is pulsing, hard hitting but supple. RDS gets for a much more minimal and cosmic vibe on the tight and bouncy 'TH Only' then Ste Roberts brings some machismo and texture to 'Tune Pitch Decay' with its industrial tech aesthetic. Tammo Hesselink closes down the EP with the loose and bendy tones, scattered hits and late night minimal eeriness of 'Untitled 42.'

Review: Atom & Tobias combine forces for this superb collection of their previous EPs. Toolbox, which is a name so smart we can't believe no other artists have used it before, brings together the EPs Cuando, Zahlenraum and Enne. All of them were written during the same writing sessions and having been put out separately before they now get boxed up with a fresh cover designed by Dextro. The music is cutting edge tehaon with deep rolling drums and icy drones making for an eerie opener while 'Cuando' (Tool I) has a more heavy low end and sounds like an automated factory floor. 'Aufmerksamkeitsspanne' is a manic machine meltdown that comes as two versions and 'NMHS' is one to warp minds.

Review: Berlin's Sinxergy label has got a diverse EP on its hands here thanks to Spain's Manuel Ibanez, aka Atonism, who is well known to heads for his work on Freddy K's Key label. This release features four distinctive tracks all designed for the dancefloor, starting with '2020' which combines atmospheric soundscapes with finely tuned percussion and nods to Atonism's skill in drum & bass. In 'Enigma,' he demonstrates masterful arrangement skills while the EP also includes 'Action et Reaction,' a collaboration with label head Tehotu. Their track strikes a perfect balance between powerful four-four beats and airy, innovative sound design, all finished with a vocal fit for a warehouse setting.

Review: After the success of their last outing, A New Chapter, from this label, Balders Audio offers up a second various artists 12" with some punchy techno for loud sound systems. Audio Units opens up with the thrilling drum programming and intense synth textures of 'Transmodality.' Linear System then keeps up the pace with '0724am' which is a sleek, linear, heady techno roller marbled with eerie little cosmic details. Review: Belgian imprint PRR! PRR! Follows up some great releases by homeboy Maoupa Mazzochetti and DJ Coquelin with the Battle Break various artists compilation that shows off their new breed of recruits. Expect some nefariously rusty and dust coated lo-fi EBM mutations of the techno battle tools kind; sold already? Take for instance the explosive synth bass funk explosion of B-Ball Joints "Battle Joints 1", the early 90s rave referencing and absurd sample collage that is Bischepiehls' "Dancemix 2016" and Venderstrooik's "Tamahatu Appapa Lagos" which bears an uncanny resemblance at times to the afore mentioned Mazzochetti. Sadly he does not appear on this release but rest assured there's still more goodies: honourable mentions to Evil Grimace and their gabber mimicking and L.A.A.M.'s dusty house workout "Don't LOL".

Review: Staunchly underground and militantly non-commercial vibes abound on this new one from Avinit, and not only from the label name and title. Bad Boy Pete kicks off with turbocharged synths and banging drums designed for a right royal rave up. The Geezer then heads down a deep dark rabbit hole with edgy synth loops and brain frying intensity and Acid Steve lets loose with his 303, which runs riot over big techno drums. Biri N Chris Liberator close things down with 'They have No Right' which is like a soundtrack from early Playstation game Wipeout.

Review: Legendary label Le Disque celebrates its 35th Anniversary with this new various artists EP offering up the sort of sumptuous sounds it is so well known for. Cosmic legend Daniele Baldelli gets first with the driving Italo techno-disco of 'Promeni' while GNMR bangs the box with his leggy 909 drum pings and heady synth swirls on 'Modulo Rmx Downtempo V1.' On the flip, Tagliabue's 'Sogno Cosmico' is a deep and pulsing techno cut that roams at a slower tempo but is no less effective, then Simone Bauer's 'Gigantomachia' is a hyperactive and cutting edge rhythm piece that never sits still and is dark as you like in its ritualistic dance manoeuvres.

Review: The Glasgow-based label Clan Destine Records started the Clan Destine Traxx imprint a few months ago as an outlet for dance floor-focused cuts that tap into their label's DIY musical aesthetic. The fledgling label's first release set the tone with Dungeon Acid, Torn Hawk and Tuff Sherm lining the excellent Dark Acid 12" and this second release in the series is equally good. Optimo Music's Golden Teacher are heavily involved, contributing a track in "Cedar Eels" that feels like an extension of their polyrhythmic endeavours for JD Twitch's label. In addition some of the band appears under the Tropic Of Capricorn banner with the straight up acid techno banger "Helen Gilgrist" whilst Stefen Blomeier might just steal the show with the K'ed up Daphni stylings of "They Have No Place In Paradise".

Hole Driller 3
Review: Bok Bok and Tom Trago's Night Voyage project originated some two years ago after the pair were invited to work together for the Crossover Series, an interesting, shortlived concept cooked up by Sound Pellegrino boss Teki Latex. Initially released digitally, the Night Voyage Tool Kit E was subsequently issued as a 12? that inaugurated the Night Voyage label with a promise of further material in the future. With their respective label, production and Djing commitments, it's little surprise it's taken a while for some new Night Voyage material from Sushon and Trago to surface, though this Get Me What You Want 12" is apparently the first in a series of "next level DJ tools" from the pair. The title track is described quite aptly as equal parts "Jersey Club and Herbie Hancock" with the B-side track "Hole Driller 3? offering a comparatively dark take on broken, dubbed out club sounds in the Night Slugs mould.

Review: The interesting cross pollination of sounds and ideas currently gestating around the Avian and Mira camps throws up its most intriguing proposition yet in Burma Camp. This is the newly adopted alias of Nicholas Wood, frontman of The KVB, a duo recently referred to as "the son and daughter of reverb" and one of this year's breakthrough acts. Wood has previous form with Mira, having collaborated with Ventress on his recent turn as Worn, and Repulsion finds him sinking deep into the realm of droning industrial delay across three experimental excursions. The influence of Downward boss Regis is apparent throughout, with the vicious, industrial techno grot of "Isa" standing out.

Review: Scott Fraser and Timothy J Fairplay's Crimes Of The Future label has had quite the banner year, ushering in various projects from the pair as well as seeking out like-minded contemporaries such as Perseus Traxx. The latest Crimes of the Future release introduces Bulb, another project bearing the label founder's finger prints along with a high profile third colluder in one William Burnett. Apparently laid down at WT Records HQ in the spring of 2014 whilst Fairplay and Fraser were committing Crimes in NYC, Bulb is a bold offering from the trio with two extended dancefloor workouts taking a side each. "Light It Up" pairs ghetto techno breaks with something from wayward Kosmiche studio experiments in deepest Germany, whilst "Dimmer Switch" plunges into a world of psychedelia and cavernous cave dwellings thanks to some dark ambient synthesis and stabbing drums.

Leon Carson - "China Trax" (8:32)
Theo Parrish - "Insane Asylum" (9:57)
Review: Oh yes, we love it when Theo represses some of his most sought after tracks and this one is particularly well-timed. Leron Carson is still an unknown figure, a kid who used to make viciously raw and futuristic techno tracks in the late 1980's! "China Trax", alongside the rest of his tracks on a different Sound Signature double 12", is totally ahead of its time and if it was truly made in 1987 then it is nothing short of amazing. Of course, it's not just the year it was made in that's interesting but also the fact that it's music without an age, able to be appreciated by any generation of techno freaks. Theo's own "Insane Asylum" on the flipside is also pretty monumental; rigged beats, off-kilter grooves and that familiar spontaneity so heavily associated to the label.

Review: The Killekill label rounds out a fine 2013 with another 12" release from the deadly combination of Cassegrain and Tin Man. The trio first collaborated on the Berlin label with last year's Carnal 12" which played out pretty much like you'd expect a record from Cassegrain and Tin Man to sound. The High & Low EP demonstrates the threesome remain on a production wavelength, with three tracks where Tin Man's mastery of acid lines align perfectly with the modern techno sound design of Cassegrain. The title track holds it down on the A Side, using the full ten minute duration to unfurl into a slowly swelling minimalistic acid epic, whilst "Sex Kit" demonstrates they can take it to the dancefloor, albeit a dancefloor well versed in acid tracks with slightly unnerving undercurrents, Final track "Sand Maze" floats through a soundscape of subtle, minimalist acid ambience with only the slightest hint of a kick.

Review: Cassegrain duo Alex Tsiridis and Huseyin Evirgren team up with American acid minimalist Tin Man for a new collaboration on Function and Inland's Infrastructure label, out of New York. The EP is a perfect blend of each of the respective parties' styles and mindsets, where cuts such as "Seduct Seduct" contain that unmistakable 303 swagger in Tin Man's inimitable style but also float more freely and feel murkier than his solo output thanks to Cassegrain's input. The same goes for the rest of the tunes, and our favourite has to be "Ether Ether" for that stomping groove and masterfully moulded percussion. Recommended.

Review: It seems Function is a fan of Cassegrain & Tin man material as he's just signed them up for his next release on Infrastructure New York. For this second Berghain 07 sampler, Function's appetite for boomy, acid techno is whetted by the collaboration's "Oxide". Meanwhile, former flatmate Ed Davenport, aka Inland, delivers "Sca Fell", a subaqueous workout that would get the Mike Parker seal of approval. DVS1 throws down some trademark warehouse beats with some caustic stabs to boot, while Steve Bicknell delves even deeper into the abyss than he did on the first sampler, with a track that's as menacing and frenetic as what Drexciya can be.

Review: Of the three Killekill Megahits, version 3.0 talks the most techno. The Cassegrain duo again team up with Tin Man for a Berghain-y romp well suited for fans of Prologue or Zooloft. Dadub share the darkened power station tip via alarm sounding synths, fluctuating LFOs and a vocal that warns "to leave immediately". Lakker, responsible for the gargantuan Spider EP on Killekill in 2011, step up with "Darcdub", an inky and unlit slice of downtemp electro sludge. Snuff crew also employ their typically cheeky vocals and smashed up drums with their trademark acidic burn on "Go Back".

Tom Ellis - "As A Take" (7:00)
Review: The Welsh purveyors of quality electronic grooves known lovingly as Freero are not just content curating one of the world's best festivals dedicated to exceptional music so they started a label. Their third edition of Freerotation Records presents the legendary Anthony Child aka Surgeon with "Unconscious Fearless Determination", certainly a departure from what we're used to but enthralling as always on this esoteric and slow burning exercise in hypnotism. UntilMyHeartStops mainman Duckett presents yet another exercise in utterly sublime deepness on "Breaks My Heart When I Remember That Day"; it doesn't get any more bittersweet and emotive than this. On the flip, label head honcho Steevio serves up some pure form modular techno with "Pendulum" which really captures those ghosts in the machine, while other core member Tom Ellis delivers the dreamy and immersive ambient house of "As A Take".

The Willers Brothers - "Don't Slip" (7:01)
Review: Since the We_r House label appears to be jointly run by Berliners the Willers Brothers and Cinthie, it seems fitting that both artists make telling contributions to the imrpint's second 12". Cinthie handles side A, serving up both the early Morning Detroit techno hypnotism of "Control" and the chunky and tactile, U.S style deep house bump of "Palm Trees in Wedding". The Willers Brothers' "Goes On and On" offers a return to the locked-in dancefloor hypnotism that marks out Cinthie's EP opener, albeit with a few more dreamy melodic elements to entice the deep house heads, before those tuneful, warm and atmospheric vibes are further explored on the skipping New Jersey vibes of closer "Don't Slip".

Brian Harden - "String Vibe"
Sean Deason - "Beautiful 1"
Review: D3 Recordings offshoot D3 Elements is only three releases deep, but already their releases are reaching "must check" status. Following their recent release of a superb EP from US deep house veteran Brian Harden, the Paris-based imprint offers up something a little different - an EP of gorgeously deep and melodic flavours that joins the dots between head-nodding instrumental hip-hop and floor-friendly 4/4 fare. There are plenty of surprises, too, including techno stalwart Terrence Parker delivering a flute-heavy downtempo head-nodder, some gorgeous beatdown from Detroiter Mike Clark, and a thrillingly string-laden chunk of deep house bliss from the aforementioned Harden. Recommended.

Review: Those with a deep knowledge of electro and techno will be salivating at the prospect of More Than A Machine: Part 1, an EP that boasts cuts from such legends of the scene as Sterac Electronics, The Advent and Christian Smith. All deliver the goods, of course, as does rising star Client 03, whose EP-opening 'Regression Container' brilliantly flips between shimmering, deep space ambient and warming, tactile electro dreaminess. Those looking for more rugged and robust club fare should check Sterac Electronics 'Reinstated', with its' out-there lead lines and machine-gun bass, and the sleazy, up-tempo futurism of the Adveny and Zein Ferreira's 'Seven'. Christian Smith's deep, Kraftwerk-influenced 'Pressure Drop' rounds off a predictably strong EP.

Review: There's a simple yet compelling concept to Berlin label Reclaim Your City, with each release showcasing different techno-centric regions across the globe. Previous editions have canvassed Berlin, Paris, Rome and Barcelona and featured high profile names like Subjected, Zadig, and Giorgi Gigli. Dnepr and Vancouver are the locations here and the standard of artists is just as high and comes with a personal dedication to M_Rec founder Max_M, whose passing this year is still being felt among the techno community. Naturally Dnepr's Stanislav Tolkachev features, laying down a hefty A-side closer in "Follow Me" with more restrained efforts from Subforms and The Automatic Message offering some respite.

Corrugated Silence - "Elevate" (13:41)
Thunderhead - "Golden Eyed" (10:05)
Review: Transmigration return with more brilliantly psychedelic techno sounds which have been carefully dug out from the rich archives of cult UK label Hollistic Recordings. As always, those originals have been remastered and restored and this one features a devastating a-side from Iestyn Polson and Steve Dungey of Projective Vision. Their mind melting and 13 plus minute 'Elevate' is a brilliantly involving mental trip and then on the flip side comes the gurgling and acid laced widescreen prog techno trip of 'Golden Eyed' by Thunderhead aka Polson joining forces with Jason Meherin. Plenty of retro future magic to tap into here.

Que Sientes (Nicola Cruz remix) (6:08)
Que Sientes (instrumental) (5:05)
Review: Phantasy Sound has described Cromby's first outing on the label as an "emergent anthem". Whether title track 'Que Sientes', which boasts a suitably sassy Spanish lead vocal from Tee Amara, becomes an anthem remains to be seen, but there's a lot to enjoy about it. What's on offer is energetic, retro-futurist electro rich in sweaty drum machine percussion fills, stabbing electronic bass and chiming melodies, all topped off with Amara's stylish vocals. An instrumental take is available on side B, alongside an atmospheric, echoing, acid-flecked revision from Nicola Cruz that sits somewhere between electro and tech-house.

John Dahlback - "Wet Summer"
Tom Pooks - "Life"
Review: What does the Swede mean with "Wet Summer"? Rainy or sweaty? When you listen to the track you'd rather say the latter. Colourful, varying and in-your-face, almost like Rex the Dog on Ibiza. Late summer hit for everybody. Speaking of Ibiza. Tom Pooks, who surprised us with Speicher 37 with ecstatic neo-acid fireworks, convinces again through and through. With "Life" he proves again that he is currently the master of most compelling trailblazer breaks. Who's sweating twice stays wet for longer...
