Back In This Shit (12" 再プレス)
Cat: NDATL 019. Rel: 13 Dec 19
Deep House
  1. Sheed's Move (6:28)
  2. Jam Tight (5:03)
  3. Back In This Shit (5:24)
  4. Not (5:23)
Review: Over the last few years, Kai Alce has shied away from releasing material on NDATL Muzik under his own name, preferring instead to produce or promote other artists. Here he finally returns to the imprint he established a decade ago for the first time in nearly three years. Predictably, he begins in fine form via "Back In This Shit", a sublime, soul-flecked chunk of late night/early morning deepness that cleverly combines elements of hypnotic deep house and stargazing Motor City techno. Those looking for more straightforward deep house positivity should check the rich musicality and mazy synth solos of "Not" and the flute-laden flutter of "Sheed's Mood", while closer "Jam Tight" should suit those who like their drowsy deep house jams underpinned by bustling, jazz-fired drums.

  2. DJ Kemit & The Lounge Lizards - "Wake Up & Stand Up" (KZR vocal) (8:20)
  3. DJ Kemit & The Lounge Lizards - "Wake Up & Stand Up" (unreleased Hardubb) (4:44)
  4. Malik Alston - "Promise Me Love" (feat Laronn Dolley - Kai Alce remix) (9:28)
  5. Wipe The Needle - "Rise Up" (feat Lifford - Kai Alce Distinctive remix) (7:47)
Review: Most of the cuts showcased on the latest EP from Kai Alce's NDATL label - released in cahoots with Makin' Moves - have previously only been available digitally, while the others have never appeared at all. For that reason alone, the 12" is well worth checking out. Alce begins by offering up his warm, soulful and groovy vocal revision of Emdee Brown's "Again", before treating us to two versions of DJ Kemit and the Lounge Lizards' "Wake Up Stand" - a righteous vocal take and a "Hardubb" that brilliantly recasts it as a rolling late night bumper. Over on side B you'll find the broken beat/deep house fusion of Alce's rub of Malik Alston's "Promise Me Love" and a baggy, soulful and lilting rework of "Rise Up" by Wipe The Needle.

Deep House
  1. Be With You (5:47)
  2. One Less Struggle (6:34)
  3. Deep Concentration (6:15)
Review: NDATL continues with an new EP from upcoming deep connoisseur Ed Nine from Chicago. The EP starts off with the energetic "Be With You" snappy beats and uplifting chords, next up "One Less Struggle" takes u into the sublime with it's deep bassline and plush chords. The B side holds the title track "Deep Concentration" which exemplifies just that, a concentration on what's deep.

Deep House
  1. Here For It (Justin Househeads original) (7:20)
  2. Here For It (Deep Tech remix) (7:14)
  3. Here For It (Deeper Tech Rub) (7:00)
Review: NDATL is proud to announce the return of KemeticJust to NDATL after it's first 2010 hit "I Got Life" for our 25th release! We couldn't be more satisfied with result. "Here for It" starts of with the Original Househeads mix feat the lush vocals of Terrance Downs snappy drums & light guitar swing that immediately catches the listener. Then KemeticJust takes us into a chord laiden deep tech remix, which hypnotizing and soothing at the same time. The B Side see the Deeper Tech Rub which take us into territory unknown, sparse piano and vocals surrounded by an entangling bassline to take any dancefloor into the stratosphere! We hope you'll enjoy this as much as we do!

Who Do You Love (12" 再プレス)
Cat: NDATL 023. Rel: 08 Jan 20
Deep House
  1. Who Do You Love? (Ricky Cape Verde club mix) (8:10)
  2. Who Do You Love? (Josh Honeycomb mix) (8:12)
  3. Who Do You Love? (Josh Honeycomb mix extended Basement dub) (8:53)
  4. Who Do You Love? (Josh Honeycomb instrumental) (7:01)
Review: NDATL's latest release is something of an all-star affair, with the brainchild of blind Cape Verdean keyboardist Ricky Corey being joined by a studio collective that included producer Kai Alce and lead vocalist Anthony Pearson (AKA Chicago house legend Chez Damier). On "Who Do You Love?" the assembled cast gives us their version of Bernard Wright's synth-soul classic, re-imagining it as a shuffling chunk of gentle Afro-house/'80s boogie fusion. Remixes come from Blaze man Josh Milan, who first offers up a squelchier, warmer and richer boogie-house interpretation (the "Honeycomb Mix") and a slightly heavier Dub mix rich in D-Train style kaleidoscopic synth solos that segues straight into a loose and groovy Instrumental take. While technically two tracks, it plays straight through as one wonderful 17-minute workout.
