Look out for the low tempo seduction of DJ Laurel's 'Let The Good Time', which will get a warm-up slot thoroughly juiced for the night to come. The Lego Edit 'party dub' of 'Party Freaks' heads more explicitly towards peak-time house, but as ever it's delivered with heart and soul thanks to the vintage source material powering the track.

The boundlessly potentiated space between disco, dance and jazz is their game, and 'Tropical Disco Volume 23' proves they can win it time and time again. Four tracks of trumpetting 4x4 glory-buzz dominate this EP. Clean Is Good wipes the floor with disco-edit edge, while Moodena comes through with a mighty mood of motor city madness, and Sartorial and Infrasoul share the B-side with a pair of broken, drum-banging and glass-shattering instrumentals. Review: Considered "the absolute Don of Italo piano house", Don Carlos is up next on esteemed NYC label Razor N Tape with an EP of rare vintage house from the archives - 30 years old in fact. For the uninitiated, Don (Carlo Troya) and S-Tone (Stefano Tirone) released two records on Italian imprint Calypso in the early '90s under the alias Montego Bay. Features the emotive, late-night garage of 'Music All Night' (Deep In Milano mix) followed by the low-slung dancefloor heater 'Keep Dancing The Boogie' on the A-side. The flip offers the life-affirming vocal cuts 'Waited So Long' and 'Gotta Keep Dancing' respectively which perfectly capture the zeitgeist of house music's golden era in the early '90s.

This time around is Dreamcast who are Davon Bryant in conjunction with Swedish guy Sasac aka King Al. Review: Andrew 'Emperor Machine' Meecham and French vocalist Severine Moultin enjoyed working on their first collaborative single, 2021's 'Dance Par Amour', so last year reunited in the studio to record a follow-up. 'Your Own Style' follows a similar sonic template, with Mouletin singing in accented English atop a typically analogue-heavy Meecham backing track laden with bubbly bass, delay-laden electric piano motifs, layered percussion and the producer's trademark synth squiggles (a feature of his work since the days he was working with Dean Meredith as Chicken Lips). The song is presented in three variations: the stretched-out and pleasingly loose 'Alternative Mix'; the sparse, effects-laden and mid-80s influenced 'Dub Vocal'; and the warmer, subtly funkier 'Fun Dub'.

Review: It's been a while since we last heard from Kinfolk, but the broad-sweeping label with cosmic chuggery in its bones is back with this powerful dose from Ess O Ess and Saulrichards. "Totem" is an epic track that rolls around in the muck somewhere between shoegaze extravagance, post-rock heaviness and psyched-out electronics. The "Swamp Crawl" version of the track keeps the guitars bedded deep within the mix, but there's space for more expressive synth work. Hardway Brothers take the track on a similarly rockist journey, but take their time building up to a climax. Otologic wrap things up with a deadly dub that will have low tempo trippers rubbing their hands with delight.

Review: A top value for money opportunity here, as Moiss Music deliver the latest in their sweet and sticky Jam series of various artist 12" line ups, bringing you no less than six bubbling, vivacious disco triumphs from six artists. Khemir's 'Disco Bandit' kicks off proceedings, a production that sounds like it was made by a band of around 45 musicians, a proper cavalcade of strings, brass, brazen disco thump and beautifully bold vocals. Wurzelholz's 'Prince' goes for a bit more economy but with a slinky funk bassline like that - not to mention the occasional exclamation from the purple overlord himself - it's equally devastating in dancefloor terms. Among the other highlights, 'Golden' by I Gemin has the feel of a lost Daft Punk flip tune and Cosmocomics' 'Glamorous Garcon', boasting 70s-style synth bubbles that are as cute as they are retro. Tasty as ever.

Review: Those fine folks behind the otherworldly Multi-Culti imprint have decided to launch a re-edit series, naturally focusing on reworks of weird and wonderful, off-kilter gems from around the world. This first serving of Cult Edits naturally contains some seriously tasty and exotic fare, most notably the parping, horn-heavy shuffle of Manfredas's "Mani From The Block", a stretched-out interpretation of what appears to be a Turkish style funk weird-out. Review: At the time of writing, Britain is basking in what feels like its 79th consecutive day of baking hot sunshine. What could be better, then, than another dose of tropical disco reworks from Sartorial and Moodena's fast-rising Tropical Disco imprint? Certainly, we can see a few open-air parties going wild to the impeccable piano solos and George Benson style jazz guitars of Moodeena's gently housed-up opener "Strawberry Jam", while Sartorial's "Feel It" is an urgent, guitar-laden rework of a familiar disco-funk favourite that should get things going on recognition factor alone. Review: Enjoy Your Self EP 3 is, as the title suggests, a third deep dive into the offerings of Osaka, Japan-based label Chillmountain Recordings. It has a wealth of different producers on its roster, all of whom twist up house, electronica, experimental, dub and Balearic sounds into fresh new grooves for cultured dance floors. It is tribal and percussive dub from Aki Nagase that immediately gets us locked in before Akira Arasawa & Ground combine for the sludgy and slow motion dub of 'Multi Gud Z.' Akira Arasawa's 'Dolphin' has underwater sonar sounds and watery rhythms then the EP closes on what might be the best of the lot - a percolating dub in the form of 'Dancing Pikapika.'

'One For Frida' gets more deep and dubby, with more big horns but a flabbier and more silky groove to sink into. Review: Sahara Band's 'Habibi' is an Italo-disco classic from 1983. It was reissued digitally once in 2017 but now finally makes a welcome return to wax. An original copy will cost you a fair few quid on the second-hand market so do not sleep on this one as it is incredible Egyptian-influenced Italo with Arabic vocals. It has been remade by other artists over the years but this version remains the best with its cultural sounds and worldly grooves set to bring greatness to any set.

Review: Stand by for a big reissue of a classic 1990 single from a couple of bona fide legends here: Junior Sanchez and Dajae combined to beautiful effect on 'Be With U' for the Club Sweat label and now offer a new 2.0 take. The original is included and next to version 2.0 sounds of its time, but then Yolanda Be Cool goes for the main room with more twisted synth work and sweaty, tech tinged drums. The final Dance System remix is pure fun.

This is a fine fifth volume of edits from Sanctuary that tweak some timeless disco sounds for modern dance floors. There is a glorious sense of soul to 'Feelings' with its boogie-fied drums and soaring vocal harmonies perfectly ready to melt your heart. 'Get Away' is a harder edged cut with raw claps and lively rhythms all topped off with impassioned vocals. 'Running' is high on 80s vibes with its male vocal and glossy synths all irresistible to anyone with a beating heart and 'So Busy' closes down with a deeper, more sentimental feel.

Review: Life Classics - the Berlin based edit label run by Sanctuary - is back with four more disco heaters. "Yes Baby" is first out of the blocks with some fat and funky bass riffs, golden chord smears and a vocal that hits a real sweet spot. "Wet" is a little deeper but one that will still get you in a spin with its buttery lead vocal and neat riff work. "So Much TM" is a real soul train classic with big strings and racing 4x4 disco grooves while closer "Feel Inside" is a full loved up jam with heart swelling strings and smooth vocals accompanied by lush sax lines. These are gold standard edits.

Review: Budabeats dropped their first Southern Hemisphere EP three years ago now and it sold out in super quick fashion. They finally back it up with more heat, and this one kicks off with an edit of legendary performer Emilio Santiago. The TropiCals duo flip his 'Revelacao' into a pure summer heater with squelchy synth bass and then Chillum Trio's 'Luuva Acida' is percolating and spaced out disco chugger. Cheb Aarab's 'Law Kan' gets an edit from Karl Planck which is all about the retro 80s chords and lush xylophone sounds and then Balint Boldizsar's 'Scarabeu' is an exotic and hypnotic deep disco snake charmer.

Review: On his new single 'Pacifico Waves', Joel Sarakula takes the scenic route down a pacific coastline, searching for peace, enlightenment and the perfect sunset. Travelling and searching is nothing new to Sarakula: it's almost his default way of being. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia before swapping oceans to live in the UK and more recently onwards to Gran Canaria: "I've been busy making my islands smaller" he jokes. But the music on 'Pacifico Waves' sounds like none of these places: with its easy drum shuffle, soulful guitar hooks and smooth vocal harmonies it distinctly evokes Southern California. It's such a potent portrait of the West Coast that if not for the contemporary lyrics and some modern production techniques, it could be a long lost hit from an early 80s LA studio band.

They're back on wax for this edition with 3 summer-ready cuts. Uplifting opener "Key Me Up" and sexy dancefloor explosion "Dumplings Over Flowers" which features a mad brass section take the A side while on the flip, they call upon Sould Out who gets properly lo-slung on the dirty late-night groove "Vamos Baby!" before the label heads come together to deliver the feel good, jazzy closer "Come Get It".

Review: London disco/funk/house label Tropical Disco returns, with their second edition of edits and disco remixes: courtesy of Cheshire's Simon Kennedy and London's Alex Sartori aka DJ Sartorial. They team up in tandem for a respectful remix of a right classic on "Can't Be Me": featuring the same familiar hook that J.B. Boogie used last year on Springbok. The rest of the way it's all about Sartorial - who flies solo for the remainder of the release; an edit of a classic Saint Tropez track as sampled by Moodymann on "Sunday Morning" and Black Booby more recently on "Know The Times". Finally, there's yet another golden oldie by a certain funk and disco group from the Bahamas entitled "At Midnight" and there's no guesses as to who that one's by.

Review: Disco and boogie crate diggers aside, few have heard of Sass single "Much Too Much", which helped launch NYC label 25 West way back in 1982. Props then to Be With for licensing it and offering up this reissue, because it really is a largely overlooked gem. Head first for the A-side full vocal version, where a loved-up male lead vocal rides a slap-bass-heavy groove rich in glassy-eyed chords, D-Train style synth squiggles and unfussy boogie beats. The flipside instrumental version is if anything even deeper and dreamier, with a little more use of the squiggly synth solos (an effect usually created by pressing the keyboard's LFO trigger button, fact fans) and greater emphasis on the tidy slap-bass part.

Review: Satin Finish started out as a trio of Goldsboro musicians namely Donald Oliver on keys, Joe Exum on drums and Dennis Kornegay on bass. They were all scouted to the Greenback Records label out of New Jersey by two producers by the names of George Greene and Gary D. Jackson. High school graduate Karen Scott was the band's vocalist and here she does a fine job across a pair of stunning and spine tingling cuts of soul drenched, mid tempo disco funk. 'Took A Chance On Love' has great harmonies and dancing keys to get you moving and 'Didn't Wanna Lose Your Love' is the more sentimental slow song for smoochy moments.

Review: Unidisc's 40th anniversary series, which offers fresh editions of sought-after disco and boogie hits, each accompanied by a new remix, continues. This time, they've decided to revisit Saturday Night Band's 'Come On Dance, Dance', which first surfaced on legendary NYC label Prelude way back in 1978. The chosen remixer this time round is Z Records chief Dave Lee, in pure 'Remixed With Love' mode. His EP-opening 'Disco Mix' is a genuine bomb that expertly rearranges and re-EQs the Saturday Night Band's original mix - with the odd dash of delay here and there - in true Tom Moulton style. He also delivers an excitable, largely beat-free 'Reprise' mix and a tidy, dancefloor dub style 'Instrumental'. A lightly edited take on the 1978 original mix completes an excellent package.

Review: XL Middleton is an absolute don of boogie. He can bend his synths and warp his baselines into fresh new forms and make sure than anyone who hears them has to pop their body non stop. He brings that studio mastery to a remix here of 'High Class' by Sauce Lady that is full of withering sci-fi pads, fresh vocal hooks and bright pads. His version is pretty unbeatable to be honest but on the flip the Slynk mix has a fine go of remixing it with a more upbeat and strident groove.

Review: Nobuyuki Suzuki is the Japanese soul and disco master who releases as 77 Karat Gold but also Sauce81. He's done so on the likes of cult London label Eglo before now, but here pops up on Beyond Space & Time with more of his silky smooth party starters. "I Wanna Show You" following this tried and tested path of happy vocals up top and slap bass funk down low. Glistening pads soar to the heavens and leave you feeling dazzled. "Love Is The Harmony (feat Ben Hadwen - 7" edit)" slows things right down, meaning the leggy drums and funk bass do amazing things to your mind, body and soul.

Review: While putting together last year's brilliant Tokyo Nights - Female J-Pop Boogie compilation, Cultures of Soul commissioned boogie revivalist Saucy Lady to record fresh covers of two of her favourites from the set. The Japan-born American has predictably done a bang up job. We're particularly enjoying the vocal and instrumental covers of Minako Yoshida's "Town"; while both contain a few contemporary touches - the beats are naturally closer to house than the '80s original - the synths, vocals and production touches are all faithful to the Saucy Lady's source material. She slows things down a little on the flipside, pushing her vocals to the fore on a gentle and rubbery cover of Toshinobu Kanesaka's "Honey Bee". Superb stuff, all told.

Drawing inspiration from the late 70s Afro-disco movement, the single offers a hypnotic journey through eclectic Krautrock-infused grooves and space-funk textures. Review: Say She She is the psychedelic soul group from Brooklyn that's exploded onto the scene since their debut in 2019. Receiving critical acclaim for their two albums to date, and the pleasure of touring Europe and North America, the Nile Rodgers-inspired female trio even got a video message of approval from the legend himself. Authentic and organic are two words that fit the classically trained troupe to a tea and, in the great soul tradition, covers are a necessity. Jim Spencer's 1979 attempt at foraying into disco 'Wrap Myself Up in Your Love' wasn't received amazingly at the time, but thanks to the adoration of archive label The Numero Group, the song has seen a resurgence in covers and fans. The original vocal is zany and expressive against some jangly funk guitars, whilst Say She She's rendition hones in on the sultry aspect of the track. Guitars are muted down to transform the song into a lovemaking slow jam, wind passages are introduced and the vocal is subtly powerful and sexy. This 7" contains both Spencer's original track and the interpretation by the trio, pressed on white vinyl.

Review: Giuseppe Scarano's musical journey began at a young age, DJing in some of Puglia's best clubs like Clorophilla, Guendalina, Discorama and Heartz Festival supporting top tier DJs before launching NICEPEOPLE in 2018. His latest is on Constant Sound sublabel Cardiology and features four deep and dusty cuts. From the low slung disco loops of 'In Your Own' and the particuarly thumpin' Same For You' on the A side.
