Review: Oraculo Records co-founders Nico Cabanas and Vanessa Asbert have been tweaking and experimenting with daring, post-punk and coldwave sounds ever since their first release under the Synths Versus Me moniker. Since then, we can safely declare that the duo have produced some of the most inspired tunes from the enlarged genre that we have heard in a while, and certainly matching the likes of esteemed imprints like Dark Entries. This new LP, Sex/Body/Touch, manages to encapsulate everything that was right about the early 80s; not one sound is out of place, and they've thankfully scrapped all of that neo-romantic bullshit in favour of some proper, cold-hearted beats. This is an album for fans of italo, post-punk and more, offering the listener a magnificent selection of dance tunes that go way beyond the modern constraints of regurgitated house and techno. Think vast soundscapes, think wavy injections of vocals... think Synths Versus Me.
