Review: The No Agenda label takes its bow here with a new EP that features a first appearance from the US's Bridget Barkan. Kimono is behind the beats and they are couched in house. 'Waiting' opens with rattling chords that bring steely determination next to the time-keeping hi-hats and echoing vocal swirls that speak of a patient wait. The Aubrey rework is super fresh with daubs of dancing synth and sci-fi details over a barely-there rhythm. Shuffling deep house sound 'Forgiveness' closes out with more slight sound designs, dusty drums and plenty of suggestion rather than in-your-face maximalism.

Review: Koenig Cylinders always kept it hella real with their techno. The pair of John Selway and Oliver Chesler were pioneers of the hard stuff first time around and now that it is back en vogue, why not reissue this classic? 'Untitled' opens with a freaky vocal and eerie synth sound before '99.9' brings a wall of white noise and slamming drum patterns. 'Carousel' is an urgent wall-rattler with cantering drums and rave sires that light up the 'floor and 'Choreomania' shuts down with razor-sharp synths and acid flashes that tickle your brain. Arresting tackle of the highest order.

Review: Kop-Z reveals that he first encountered the term 'A Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamic System' in a book costing L2 in a Manchester junk shop. It is a term to describe humans as systems constantly battling entropy and the world's challenges to survive. "But we're also systems that work together, creating art and music," he reflects, appreciating the contrast between opposites like day and night, love and hate. His work merges autobiographical field recordings, looped vinyl and childhood video games with kinetic programming systems that are all influenced by jungle, footwork, noise, rave, post-punk and reggae. Review: Wiesbaden, Germany-born Florian Kupfer has spent the last decade exploring around the edges of the dancefloor with hugely evocative sounds that are always much more than mere tools. This latest mad-limited 12" is another doozy that opens with the menacing and mechanical rhythms of 'Sidelined' topped with eerie spoken word loops. 'Integrating The Shadow' is a more rugged electro rhythm with hissing hi-hats sweeping through the mix and downbeat chords adding a touch of melancholy. 'Unmasked' gets dark, dirty and messed up for those 5am wig-outs and 'Severed Lines Of Communication' is a hypnotic roller alive with static electricity.

Review: Two standout tracks from Priori's This But More get a stripped, emotional rework from Loidis, which is of course the introspective alias of Brian Leeds aka Huerco S. and Pendant who is known for his minimal, textured approach. Here, Loidis stretches the originals into hypnotic, slow-burning explorations. The rhythms remain intact but feel deeper, warmer, like echoes from a distant rave. It's dancefloor music in slow motion: eyes closed, head lost in the groove. These extended versions don't just remix, they reimagine while blurring lines between ambient and club, motion and stillness. It's a compelling fusion of restraint and rhythm, perfect for late nights and deep-listening sessions alike.

Review: Low Order returns with his sixth EP in five years and in doing so continues his exploration of relentless industrial body music. Things open with immersive noise textures building into the driving bass pressure of 'See The Land' which is reminiscent of Portion Reform's classic sound. Tracks like 'Angel Cycle,' 'Stand Still' and the title track showcase his unstoppable momentum and explain why he and his sound are dominating European clubs. The closing track envelops with dreamlike drones, feedback and distorted vocals embodying a haunting, gritty realisation. Though rooted in extreme styles, this EP keeps its focus on the dancefloor.

Review: Deep techno twosome Lucid Void have only put out a handful of releases since making their debut in 2017, but their productions are not only assured and atmospheric, but also genuinely good. It feels like they need a breakthrough and this mini-album for Turkish imprint Benthic (a belated sequel to their 2021 outing on the imprint) could provide it. There's certainly plenty to set the pulse racing and synapses snapping, from the pulsing rhythm, immersive aural textures and hypnotising vibes of 'Escalate' and 'Transporter', to the yearning dancefloor soundscape 'Quasar' and the ghostly spookiness of 'Inner'. 'Signal' brilliantly blends raw, analogue electronics, locked-in beats and bittersweet chords, while closing cut 'Rhythm' is as pleasingly dreamy and heady as it is throbbing and off-kilter.

Review: For a long time Gary Martin was referred to as an "unsung hero" of Detroit techno, but with the DET 313 label, run with Yossi Amoyal, he's finally cemented a fearsome reputation as one of the Motor City's finest. With such reputations come the exchange of the proverbial "silly money" for the more hard to find recordings, thus the existence of this double 12" which collects eight of Martin's efforts from the mid to late 90s into one package available for a slightly more sensible exchange of currency. Among the highlights are the Latin-enhanced beats of 'Manhattan', two mixes of the sublime 'In Rythem' complete with a gospel preacher in full flow and a seven minute extended remaster of 'I'll Be Back I Promise' from Yossi Amoyal. It's no surprise to see Martin's work picked up and played by the likes of Ben Klock, given his unique take on rhythm, but there's plenty of soulfulness going on here as well.

Review: Roberto Cagnoli began his musical journey in Florence in 1995 and since then has been contributing to the region's rich scene under various different aliases. He has produced for labels like Disturbance and featured in Gigi D'Agostino's Progressiva compilation and now Evasione Digitale has partnered with Cagnoli to reissue his 2000 project 'Megaton - Essence.' It was originally released on Stefano Noferini's experimental techno label, Plate Records and is a superbly hypnotic, percussion-driven sound that perfectly captures the essence of Cagnoli's innovative approach. Highlights include the dizzying leads of 'Bloody Ears' and the more deep and mind-bending sounds of 'Essence.'

Review: Glasweigian producer Modus follows an impressive run of releases on Alien, Communications, Sungate and Outer Zone with his latest effort on the ever reliable Assemble Music out of Portugal. This one is titled Expressions; a four track affair covering a wide selection of expertly engineered techno moods such as the Mills/Hood influenced minimal techno workout 'Drive A' and the futuristic electro beat mesmeriser 'Mako Reactor' on the first side, followed over on the flip with another hypnotising heads-down techno belter indebted to Detroit's second wave in the form of 'Plotting'. Review: Nene H pays her respects to three cities that have shaped and inspired her with three very different tracks. 'Ring the Siran' salutes Istanbul with a salvo of hard-edged minimal firepower and filtered voices opening and closing across it. 'Fukken Lie' features spoken words by Nik Mantilla about the Berlin scene in which she operates, again hard but with a more relaxed, spacious vibe. 'Hold Ud, Skat!' pays homage to the Copenhagen scene - "the city that adopted the lost child in Nene H and inspired her" - with an irresistibly rubbery bassline and static techno stabs. Who says the harder end of techno needs to be grim? This is quite the opposite - tough but lithe and very, very lively.

Review: UK rave pioneers Orbital are revisiting their early 'Brown Album' EPs with the launch of a new and ongoing Orbital LEDs ('Limited Edition Drops') series. These 12"s are being re-issued with newly commissioned artwork by Intro. This one was originally released in September 1992 and is one of the group's most famous because it contains their most iconic track 'Halcyon' which blurs ethereal vocals with hypnotic breaks that define 90s dance music and still get huge reactions to this day. The EP also includes 'The Naked and the Dead' which is a darker techno track, plus 'Sunday' and the previously unreleased dub version of 'The Naked and The Dub.' Essential.

Review: UK electronic innovators Orbital have been revisiting their early roots with Orbital LEDs, a limited-edition series remastering their old greats. Now fully remastered and paired with striking new artwork by Julian House, the latest drop highlights the duo's groundbreaking early sound when tracks like 'Midnight' innovated with a blend of hypnotic house rhythms and minimalist influences from Philip Glass and Wim Mertens. Review: If you've ever been luck enough to attend the Freerotation music festival than plenty about this remix package will make sense. Not least the interpretation by event co-founder and modular synth hero Steevio, here delivering a remix on vinyl for the first time. Bringing in elements of jazz, ambient, field recordings, dub, house music and - albeit barely audible - subtle shades of tech, it's a sophisticated package that fully buys into the theory of electronic sounds being a form of high art. Running the gamut from the stepping, poised but decidedly free spirited 'Lucid' and Deadbeat's tense, drone-y take on'Sam Gimignano', to the lush keys and white noise of Andrea Cicheki's redo of 'Siegfried 2.0' and Dr Nojoke's beautifully blissed out smoky house, it's as dense as it is accomplished.

Review: After four years of work fusing acoustic and electronic sound worlds, Rand finally unveiled the fruits of their labours with Peripherie. The duo of concert pianist Jan Gerdes and minimal techno producer Dr. Nojoke have cooked up urban and sensitive music for piano and electronics that was all recorded live with no overdubs back in 2019 at Berlin's Chez-Cherie Studios. It was made across three pianos with improvisation at the heart of the process. It's a great collision of worlds, from dark and intense pieces of pulsing techno to more light and hopeful and empty soundscapes that perfectly blur the edges between the different tools used. Fans of Nils Frahm, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto will enjoy digging into this one.

Review: Left-of-centre electronic maverick Randomer returns with a new EP on Anetha's label, Mama Told Ya. After what we're told was something of a reflective hiatus, the UK artist delivers five emotionally charged tracks, all bar one of which are solo cuts with the other being one co-produced with Anetha. Thematically these cuts explore life's unpredictability and encourage embracing chaos and randomness. Drawing from his deep study of melodies, Randomer blends techno, trance, techstep and sacred choral music to create a cathartic journey across several different sound worlds here and it all adds up to a powerful, introspective listening experience.

Review: Earlier in the year, James Baker brought his long-running ReKaB project to Andy Vaz and Alessandro Vaccaro's long-running Yore imprint for the first time. This speedy sequel is similarly assured and quietly impressive. He begins by wrapping vintage drum machine beats and an angular, LFO-style bassline in unfeasibly spacey chords, bubbly electronics and woozy vocal samples ('My Inspiration'), before treating us to a warmer and more melodious slab of analogue deep house loveliness ('Soul Brother 88'). Over on the flip, 'Future Times' sees Baker pepper a hypnotic deep house beat in intergalactic, Motor City-influenced synth sounds and bubbly acid motifs, while title track 'Random Fragments' is another classy, far-sighted deep house-meets-deep techno number rich in superbly spacey sounds. Music for the head and the feet!

Review: Boccaccio was one of Europe's most influential clubs back in the late 80s and early 90s. Based in rural Destelbergen, it was a place where new beat, acid, techno and house all collided, and Boccaccio Life 1987-1993 is a deep dive into the electrifying soundscapes of the time. It comes on Music Man Records and is a 40-track compilation that reclaims Boccaccio's legacy beyond the overly reductive new beat tag. Resident Olivier Pieters and club regular Stefaan Vandenberghe are behind it, and have split the full selection into four vinyl parts. Bobby Konders's 'Let There Be House' is the killer here, but all four cuts are deliciously dark and heads down club tackle from a golden era.

Review: Richard Lamb's second album under this alias, Salt Lick, is also most likely going to be his last. It is a special one though, as you would expect from the man born Ricard Wenger. The title tune opens with tribal hand drums and smeared synths next to twanging guitar riffs then 'A Life In Harmony' takes off on glassy melodies and celestial electro rhythms. Further deep space explorations follow as does the downbeat dreamscape 'May I Dance With You.' On the flip side are two tunes from one the most cult remixers in the game - DJ Sotofett, who twist sounds in his usual fashion into a pair of trippy electro skankers.

It comes alive with some bright, sharp acid liens and then gets a more experimental and distorted SID version. Last of all, German mainstay Robert Babicz remixes and turns everything up to 11 with his intense and irresistible rework.

Review: There are plenty of electro overtones to the brain of techno that Savtsenko kicks out here for his latest on Kinetic. 'Auto Pilot; is a raw, textural banger with corrugated basslines surging to the stars. 'Come Again' has hammering kicks and more slinky baselines this time with raw punk energy and 'Seductionizer' also brings great texture and a rather hellish vocal edge to slamming electro-techno low ends. There is no let up on 'Detox' with its slithering synth gurgles. A vivid and vicious EP, for sure.

Review: Scott Grooves is one of the quietly brilliant home artists. The US talent has done it all in his time and brings plenty of musicality to his work, which is mostly couched in-house but for this one-sided and limited edition 7" heads off into techno territory. 'Track 1' is a blistering cut with coarse hits and smeared pads all turbo-powered by some driving drums that are deep but direct. There is a great sense of machine soul to the synths that helps take it even further into the next dimension. Another vital release from this mainstay.

Review: Stefano Chesti aka Stephno has been hella busy this year as this is already his fifth release of 2025. His sound is rooted in techno but with hints of jacked up early Chicago and that's clear again here. 'The Intermittent' is a raw roller with vamping chord stabs to keep you locked. 'Dritto E Tondo' has some brilliantly succulent and pining kick drums powering it along with raw-as-you-like hits and trippy synths and 'Romantic Dub' is just that - warm, zoned out, cavernous dub for late night love-ins. 'Sieben Null Sieben' brings analogue drum sounds and Windy City realness to the fore to close.

Review: Structure has named his new EP after a network of fungal threads that often grow underground and it is fair to say his music joins the dots between different sound worlds with a distinctively subterranean edge. 'Mycelium I' is part broken beat, part magnificent ambient synth work and part techno kicker. It's deft and artful and so is 'Mycelium II' but in different ways - this one is a tightly interwoven and psychedelic mix of underlapping drums and pulsing synths. 'Mycelium III' is similar with a distinctly Millsian vibe and the hyper real, mega futuristic sound design continues on deep space soundtrack 'Mycelium IV.'

Review: New York City's underground stalwart Sweater On Polo returns with the debut release on Signal Route. His Mechanical Confusion EP draws inspiration from early 90s Chicago techno and basement house so it echoes the gritty, raw style of labels that dealt in that sort of stuff, like Dance Mania and Relief Records. Across the six cuts there is an intergenerational dialogue between past and present with acid house, techno and synth punk all capturing a familiar old-school angst and texture but with a fresh twist. 'Land of Code' is one of our favourites with its rising percussive tension, deeply buried bass pulse and dusty analogue drums.

Review: Talk about keeping things on a knife edge. The first, and title track on this powerhouse EP is pretty much destined to whip any venue into a storm of expectation, not-so-much building but rather opening with this full-sounding, heavily atmospheric, space-y, proggy, could be techno, could be electro, could be trance arrangement. The kind of thing where there might as well be flairs firing into the sky warning you how much stomping a floor can take.

It brings plenty of bouncy to the party with elastic opener 'Triple It' layering up big kicks and hits with playful bass. 'Swanky' is another blend of Afro rhythms and UK funky, fizzing synths and heavy bass and 'Gallop' picks up the pace with a more lithe and loopy groove. 'Breath Work' flips the script with Eastern string melodies and percussive beats and 'Twos & Fours' is a fourth and final fantastically inventive sound that will stand out in any set for all the right reasons.

Review: TWR72 is a Dutch techno mainstay who here debuts on the Spanish label Room. His Narrow EP is a powerful dance floor sucker punch with a remix from the up-and-coming Mathys Lenne that shows he is an artist with a textural take on tunneling techno. The original tunes include 'Narrow' which is all hulking great kicks and bleeping synth pulses. 'Generous' then ups the ante with quick and slick Mills style minimalism and 'Exact' rounds out with a hunched-over groove that leans into a stiff wind as howling synths swirl around and the tension continues to grow. Classy and timeless tackle for sure.

Review: Orlando Voorn's back catalogue is up there with many of his arguably more trendy American peers. This sixth outing from the "Classics" division of Nocturbulous Records backs that up by offering some such gems. 'Tronics' and 'Hydrotech' have been remastered and ew repressed for the first time here while 'Alien Interferences' and 'Need For Speed' have never before made it to wax. All four showcase the Dutchman'sstylish blend of supple techno drums and soulful machine sounds. 'Need For Speed' in particular is a fantastically warped stepper with myriad trippy sonics raining down the face of the broken groove.

Review: Strap in for this latest transmission from the fledging French label Loud Pressings. It's a straight-up techno offering with two killer jams from Vromo. 'Jack'd' is a lot of simple things done well - linear drums with a smart design and dusty texture, driving bass that never quits and well-used classic vocal samples to add a little flair while the dubby chords pan about the mix. 'Bodywork' is just as seemingly simple but hard to pull off - a convergence of loops that bring together muscular drums, funky bass, core claps and synth stabs that add some electricity to a classic, timeless techno weapon.

Review: Missile Vintage deploys a sixth sizzling techno weapon here and it comes from the studio of Damon Wild and Tim Taylor who combine in electric fashion. 'Band The Acid' really does that. It is cantering, hi-octane techno with lashings of wet 303 lines that flash about the mix like an untethered hose. Add in some slamming analogue drums and eye-watering percussion and you have pure club dynamite. The DJ Dextro remix does nothing to offer you respite and is just as much of a caustic and timeless acid techno classic.

Review: Bristol-based Will You (AKA Oleeva label founder Will Spence) is finally ready to make his vinyl bow, with fast-rising Berlin imprint Stolar the lucky label handling the imprint. He begins in predictably confident mood with 'Sante', a deeply swirling, psychedelic and immersive slab of hypno-house wrapped in waves of TB-303 acid insanity, before treating us to the unsettling off-kilter tech-house wonkiness of 'Is It 2 Late?' Over on the reverse side, both cuts are given the remix treatment. Lb Honne re-frames 'Is It 2 Late?' as a smoother and more intergalactic-sounding chunk of deep tech-house, while Orion turns 'Sante' into a field recordings and effects-laden ambient techno shuffler.

Review: XXX is back with a steamy 16th EP and it features two original tracks by Anastasia Zems & Radial Gaze on the A-side, with remixes from Chinaski & S.I.R.S. on the B-side. The originals are characterised by dark industrial vibes, sharp kicks, and throbbing yet playful basslines that will persuade any dance floor to get throwing shapes. On the flip side, Chinaski's remix takes an unexpected turn as a trance-like trip that climbs higher and faster with each beat. S.I.R.S. offers a contrasting disco remix with an irresistibly groovy bassline, and just as irresistible is the playful artwork by Gees Voorhees that perfectly captures the eclectic nature of this EP.

Review: A2L were active between 1988 and 1990 and released two albums and several EPs on labels like 1st Bass, Big One and Force Inc. Their sound blended British psychedelic house with elements of new beat, industrial, EBM and early acid house and in doing so captured the raw energy of the UK rave scene. Notably different from typical acid house acts of the time, A2L's music took in machine funk, samplers and turntable techniques to create trippy, infectious grooves. This collection compiles rare underground gems from them from 1989 and features standout tracks like 'Even Though It's Make Believe' and 'Come On.' It's a great look back to the experimental spirit of the late 80s.
