Review: Some of the most promising Swedish artists on this new Moll release. The label is an excellent guideline of today's techno movement. Firm thumping kicks are at the base of these dancefloor monsters. The boys turn out to be full blown bassline engineers, pushing the envelope when it comes to supersonic frequencies.

Review: The Cursory EP is the second collaboration between Italians in Berlin The Analogue Cops and UK bass producer Blawan. It's the debut release on a new label run by another Italian duo, Raw People, but what is more notable is that the release maps out new possibilities for that grey area where house, techno and bass meet. "Aurum", with its loose, organic drums, could be easily mistaken for a Workshop release were it not for the wired vocal sample and interplay between the spacey, ambient chords and the arrangement's cheese-wire percussive licks. "Illy" is straighter and more representative of the Analogue Cops' approach, with its filtered groove and insistent stabs underscored by firing percussion, but it sounds functional when played next to "Quarto". The standout cut on the EP is based on a driving but more offbeat rhythm, while viscous acid lines cosy up to crashing cymbals, creating a woozy, edgy feeling. Put simply, "Quatro" is the kind of track that captures lost moments from late nights without making the listener feel uncomfortable. Finally, "Sickle" sees the trio return to dance floor techno, but with a difference. Blawan's input ensures that the rolling rhythm is fluid and less regimented, while the rasping percussion that tracks the building chord is rougher than a Ryanair red-eye out of Berlin on a Monday morning.

Review: The Berlin-based aufnahme + wiedergabe label elect to revisit Legacy From A Cold World, last year's fine debut album from Black Egg, with the focus on one specific track and one special artist. As the recent remixes of Powell suggested, Michael Wollenhaupt's Ancient Methods project is perfectly tooled to instigate some truly inspirational reworks given the correct source material and his four versions of "Ohne Ha?nde" are the stuff of techno dreams. Wedged inbetween EBM, industrial and techno, the "Maschinendub" version is a wonderfully seedy affair, whilst the Accapella version fizzes with underlying menace. The Fundamental mix will please those seeking some thunderous techno whilst the closing "Pogo Im Saurebad Plural" version veers off into the realm of primitive electronics. Superb stuff!

Review: Drum machines, synths and sequencers are alive and kicking on this various artist EP from, Posthuman's Balkan Vinyl label which features Horror Boogie's Ben Pest and Planet Mu artist Chevron. Mark Archer, a name familiar to Balkan Vinyl, opens the EP with an electrified piece of four-to-the-floor techno funk, while Ben Pest boils down the instrumentation in "Scheduled Acid" for a track that sounds like a cooler version of Mylo's "Muscle Car". Posthuman takes the EP into spacey, Detroit, 909 techno territory with "Don't Rush", while Chevron powers up his 303 to supply a track as cheeky and acidic as what Killekill's Affie Yusuf can muster.

Organic Elements EP (12")

Review: Bari, Puglia based SUBOSC is helmed by producer Kaelan and presents four excursions through the more hypnotic and cerebral strains of techno. Berlin's Artefakt starts off on the A side with with the trance inducing reductionism of "Curvature Of Mind", while Italian Alan Backdrop returns after what seems like a long absence from the scene, but he's back in form on the exquisite sound design of "Quaraman". On the flip there's Kiwi Ben Gibson with the Millsian touch of "Floating Shadows" which will certainly draw you down into the abyss, while local duo Tripsolate & Redundaent offer up something a bit more different on the electro/dub techno crossover of "Akay" and as unusual as this hybrid must sound, it really works and is truly a highlight. Tip!

Review: There's no doubt that ASOK - AKA Liverpool-based producer Stu Robinson - has been one of the success stories of 2014. Following knockout releases on M/O/S Deep and his Scenery imprint, he pops up on Good Ratio Music with two more far-sighted and fuzzy sci-fi-tinged jams. There's a delicious shuffle to "The Fifth Book" - all bubbling Motor City electronics and foreboding chords - while "Probability Drive" joins the dots between vintage techno and sparse, otherworldly deep house. Flip for two tracks from Barcelona-based Good Ratio regular Baldo, who impresses with the fizzing analogue rhythms, Larry heard chords and subtle acid of "Axel Nebulae". His other contribution, "Seventh Dimension", comes on like the soundtrack to a drunken late night jog through desolate, post-industrial landscapes.

Review: Some of the less charitable critics out there referred to Juan Atkins and Mortiz Van Oswald's side-project as 'boredomland'. While the pair's debut album under this name was a largely sedate affair, on the evidence of this single, they will be opting for a more engaging approach for the follow-up. It's not hard to hear both producers' influence on "Riod"; Van Oswald's love of layered textures and hollowed out drums comes up against Atkins's vivid melodies and synths from outer space. On the alternate version they venture even farther down the dreamy route, with hypnotic chords guiding the way.

Review: The Magic EP sees the Aux 88 duo Keith Tucker and Tommy Hamilton return to their Black Tokyo project with the first original material since their eponymous 2010 album. It's difficult not to fall under the spell of the glacier like chords at the core of the title track, their presence complemented by Ice Truck's vocals, typical bass driven drums and thick square synth patterns. The accompanying instrumental version shorn of the Japanese singer only serves to highlight the potency of Tucker and Hamilton's Motor City Utopia arrangement. Complementing this bright production is the much darker and indeed tougher Detroit mix of "Astral Projections" which once again places the bassline closest to your sensory receptors as all manner of rugged drum patterns and arcane bleeps cascade around the channels.
