Review: As the four-year anniversary of Frankie Knuckles' death approaches, Trax has decided to reissue Ultimate Production, a re-titled collection of some of his finest Chicago-era moments that first appeared (with a slightly different track list) in 1991. All of the Godfather of House's early must-have cuts are present - think "Your Love", "Baby Wants To Ride", "It's a Cold World" and "Waiting on an Angel" - alongside a smattering of lesser-celebrated gems and his essential remixes of Dancer's "Boom Boom" and Kevin Irving's "Children of the Night". Crucially, this time round they've decided to stretch the tracks across two slabs of wax rather than one, allowing for louder re-mastered cuts.

Review: There's an embarrassment of contemporary house riches to be enjoyed on the second edition of Music Is Love's Lovebox series, with a sizable contingency from the UK stable of deep house troopers. There's soothing funky tones from Mr KS, nifty broken beat delights from Cassio Kohl and Tuccillo, and rough-shod party-starters from U Know The Drill and Jackson Ryland. The diversity across the four sides is pleasing to see, and there's no shortage of fresh ideas from the likes of Liam Geddes with his distinct shuffle on "Untitled" to Oli Furness' off-centre approach to rave tropes in house music.

Review: Eight further sonic spirits are conjured on the seventh edition in Damian Lazarus' annual compilation series. Emphasising deep house and techno grooves with a hypnotic flavour, the procurement here is exemplarily brooding; Dino Lenny's 'I Have Sampled Father' marks a sure turn away from the openers' cleaner-cut mesmerisms with a smoky, funk-inflected haze, bringing rhythm guitar and paternal murmurations to a surreal montage. The monologuing mood continues on the equal highlight that is Upercent's 'Where Are You', whilst Enamour's 'Jackpot' rounds out the show with the record's only brightly-lit minimal triller. The record is marked by sensuous, distant, familiar voices throughout.

Review: Project Indigo opens its doors with a superb various artists EP here that comes rich in lush deep house flavours. The artists are all relatively new to us but come with well formed sounds, not least the opener from 'Soenne.' It is a delicate, dreamy, ambient laced deep house vibe with a well placed vocal sample from neo-soul queen Jill Scott. Untitled Gear then offers 'Say Goodbye' with its chunky but gentle drums and more balmy melodies. Further gems come from Boaksi with another superbly escapist and heady vibe then the flips side continues in a sleepy but seductive vein to great effect.

Review: As the title suggests, this essential double-pack offers up a quartet of tracks from Glenn Underground's 2009 album "Silent", a set that has never been released on vinyl. Epic opener "CVO's Prelude" is one of the Chicago veteran's most fluid and life-affirming tracks, with extended jazz piano solos and positive chord sequences rising above a sumptuous Latin-house groove. "Negro Muzic" cleverly combines groovy deep house with jazz-funk flourishes and '70s funk style studio party samples, while "7 Minutes Of Funk" is a warmer and more organic sounding dancefloor jazz-funk workout. Those looking for some bumpin' beats should check closing cut "Shake It", where tasty lead vocals sit atop a classic deep house backing track.

Review: Chicago house mainstay Glenn Underground is as good at crafting neat edits of the classics as he is serving up his own superb original house compositions. It is the former which he does here on his own label and first up on the A-side he adds his signature smooth grooves to a track but the late, great funk master Amp Fiddler. The B-side begins with his Retro mix of beatmaker extraordinaire Mos Def which has loose-limbed drums and soulful pads that reach to the heavens, then he looks to acid jazz innovators Incognito and their 'I Can See The Future' and flips it into a nice funky and drawn out house groove for vibrant dance floor fun.

Review: New York-based DJ and producer Antonio L Ocasio brings his deep house expertise to his own label as the latest release. On Side-1, 'Meant To Be' by Unified Spirits, is a smooth builder led by gentle guitar riff and enriched by lush strings. Its house groove is both soothing and uplifting, unfolding with a natural, unhurried progression that draws the listener in. On Side-2, Ocasio himself delivers 'La Fiebre', a stunning example of tribal house mastery. The track is spacious and deep, with ominous chords and a subtle tech edge that creates an immersive, almost cinematic feel. There's a beautiful balance between rhythmic drive and atmospheric depth, showing Ocasio's knack for blending soulful elements with intricate production. Altogether, this release maintains a polished and timeless quality - like his Tribal Winds label now verging on 30 years in operation.

Review: You'd think that Danny 'Legowelt' Wolfers wouldn't need another recording alias, given that he's already used more pseudonyms than the average international con artist. Still, he's decided to use a new one here - UFOCUS - for a double-album set that explores the paranormal themes that were once a major part of the early '90s ambient techno scene. Musically, much of Guidance For The Puzzled recalls those halcyon days, with Wolfers drawing inspiration from a mixture of classic Detroit techno, intergalactic electronica, intelligent techno, stargazing ambient house and - on the fine "Archetypes & Myths" - dreamy deep house/acid house fusion. While Wolfers arguably releases far too much material, this is actually worth checking; it could well be his strongest collection of tracks for some time.

Review: Glenn Underground's 1996 debut album, Atmosfear, has recently become a sought-after item amongst a new generation of deep house DJs. Happily, Peacefrog has responded to this growing demand and delivered this track-for-track reissue. Listening back, it's impressive how well the material has aged. "Entercourse of the New Age" - a near perfect combination of warm Chicago deep house, new age melodies and dream house sounds - sounds particularly current, while "Rising Son" and the impeccable "Midnight Groove" have lost none of their Chicago-meets-New Jersey edge. The jazzy and wonderfully melodious "Israelee Night Falls", undoubtedly one of GU's most spine-tingling moments, is almost worth the admission price on its own.
