I Gotta Limit

I Gotta Limit (feat Kitty Liv) (3:10)
Summer Sun (David Arnold remix) (4:25)
Review: Having played a slew of inimitable and unforgettable television comedy characters over the past decade or so, from Toast of London's Stephen Toast to Douglas Reynholm in The IT Crowd, Dixon Bainbridge in The Mighty Boosh and Todd Rivers in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, you could be forgiven for expecting Matt Berry to use songwriting and music as another form of hilarious release. That's definitely not the case. There's plenty of release on I Gotta Limit, but this is anything other than satire. The first new music to come from Berry's 2025 album, Heard Noises, the two tracks here are pure joy, authentic and genuinely impressive on a technical level. Exchanging lines in a duet with Kitty Liv for the titular number, the vibe is part Northern Soul, part psych rock, and pretty much all completely captivating.

Review: Completed within six days - always a sign of a unprescribed project, without pretence or conceit, one which just needs to be unleashed - Noah Kahan completed the five-track 'Cape Elizabeth' EP in 2020. The five-track EP, which followed four original CDs already released on major labels, was an instant hit among indie singer-songwriter lovers. Now repackaged for the same audience once more, the towering chart-topper now returns to Republic Records for a first-time aqua vinyl reissue, after its initial digital-only run.

Swahili Lullaby (4:18)
Teekon Warriors (4:27)
Daisy High (4:20)
Swahili Lullaby (Synkro Balearic dub mix) (5:37)
Swahili Lullaby (Talking Drums Redub) (7:22)
Review: First released in 1983, Khartomb's 'Swahili Lullaby' first surfaced on the underground punk and reggae label Whaam! before fading back again into obscurity. In fact their only release, originally a 7", it came backed by the 12/8 wonderwork 'Teekon Warriors' on the B; both tracks established their sound as straddling both a restlessness and a laconism, channelling influences from the Slits to the Raincoats. Legend speaks of an original Peel Session and support from Melody Maker - the holy one-track difecta for breaking artists back then - yet this initial support sadly, madly waned. Now, however, the release comes miraculously back to the fore, rendered concscious again by way of a new-to-vinyl track - 'Daisy High' - as well as two versions of the A1 by Synkro and Talking Drums. 'Daisy High' is a lissome one, its layered contraltos overdubbed to perfection against endless Balearic guitar-swirls amid an overarching 'bossa feel' (in Peel's words). Synkro's dub could just as easily have come from '83 as it did from '24, swelling away into a sweet kickless reverie that happily, barely resembles the original; Talking Drums' version is more loyal to the genesis, yet amps up the dub pressure.

No Presents For Christmas (4:30)
Charon (4:19)
Review: Released almost 40 years ago, No Presents For Christmas was the ultimate anti-Christmas song from metal provocateur extraordinaires King Diamond. Originally landing in time for Chrimbo 1985, this latest 12" reissue immortalises the bizarre piece of metallic eccentricity for new generations to come, and even boasts 'Charon'; a deep cut from the band's seminal debut album Fatal Portrait, on the b-side. Elaborating on the new gaudy cover and reasoning behind the repress, the King himself has decreed: "Livia worked on the glass mansion on the cover - it's a mansion she designed that I just loved and said we must use this for something! The cover came out exactly how we wanted it to, and it looks like something you would find in the Christmas albums aisle alongside Frank Sinatra. It has the Christmas feeling, but with something dark and sinister when you examine it more closely. I look like a ghost - the ghost of trying to destroy Christmas!"

Rock Bottom (B Boy edit) (4:33)
Rock Bottom (instrumental) (3:47)
Review: A chance to own this much loved pre-album classic from King Kruke aka Southwark-raised Archy Marshall on a neat 7". The track, originally issued in 2012 on the Rinse label, has all the hallmarks that would make Marshall famous, namely a lilting, emotionally direct vocal performance, some rather nifty guitar work and some rough cut breakbeats with a lovely whiff of bedroom production about them. The flip, meanwhile, is adorned with an instrumental version, making this quite the all round desirable item.

Review: While reappraisal and retrospect have given The Kinks' 1968 LP, The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society, a well-deserved boost in the court of public opinion, which now rates the record among the finest of its decade, from any band, anywhere, this wasn't always the case. Originally released to a rather subdued reception, sales started poorly and went downhill from there. Some blame has been levelled at Ray Davies, who refused to allow any singles to be released in the UK or US and steered his band away from publicity events to promote the long player. They did, however, perform live on folk singer Julie Felix's Saturday night BBC TV programme, to rapturous applause. Both the songs they sang, and the audience response, are featured on this rare EP.

Review: Few stadiums involve the same level of America-ness as Fenway Park. Home to the Boston Red Sox, whether or not you believe baseball to be pointless and mundane, the fast food equivalent of cricket which is, somehow, also a slow cooked nothing, it's impossible not to appreciate just how much atmosphere there is in heritage sports arenas, and how much these places mean to the town that built them. For anyone to perform a concert at Fenway, then, is a privilege that betrays status. So does the deafening noise of tens of thousands singing along to the anthems on this Noah Kahan tour recording. Born in Vermont, but with strong family ties to the Boston area, the roaring and soaring folk-pop hitmaker - whose roots are as much in rock & roll as country and bluegrass - is quite simply commanding, even heard via the replay medium of vinyl or CD. Something to remember next time you consider tickets to see him in the flesh.

Review: Kaleidoscope's Tangerine Dream stands as a quintessential English psychedelic album, often ranked among the most important and influential works in the genre alongside iconic releases like Sgt. Pepper's, Forever Changes, and The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators. Despite its rarity and collectability, with mint copies fetching hefty prices, the album has surprisingly lacked a proper reissue and remastering treatment for over five decades. However, after three years of determined effort, negotiations with major label executives and stroke of luck, the album is finally receiving its long-awaited official reissue. Thanks to painstaking detective work and fortunate encounters with Universal archivists, the original master tapes, previously languishing in the vaults, have been unearthed. Moreover, Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 fame has meticulously remastered the album from these original tapes in his Lisbon studio, ensuring that it is presented to listeners as intended. This reissue will undoubtedly be a must-have for fans and collectors alike, offering the best audio quality version of the band's early psychedelic masterpiece.

Review: No prizes for guessing the kind of sonic avenues we're invited to explore here. Less obvious is the fact Kandodo is actually Simon Price, a name many psych lovers will recognise from British heavyweights The Heads - a group that have spent the last few decades bending minds to their will, or at least sound, and opening up third ears with far reaching cosmic tones. Here you can expect similar wormholes to open, but dark matter reigns supreme. Introverted to the point of collapsing in on itself, Theendisinpsyche feels sludgy, deep, heavy and all the things that make us look down and then inside ourselves. With the B-side taken up by 22-minute long epic, 'Swim Into The Sun', you should hopefully know just how intense and inescapable things get - which should only ever be taken as a strong recommendation from us.

Review: This analogue-driven masterpiece sets a high bar for exciting music in 2025. The ten-track album, crafted by the Gothenburg duo (featuring members of Fontan and Ultra Satan), blends intricate soundscapes with emotional resonance, offering a listening experience that is both reflective, thought-provoking yet at times, challenging. Vind explores the intersection of rhythm and emotion, creating an atmosphere that feels timeless and innovative. The first single, 'Montilla', embodies the album's ethos. With its downtempo pace and broken beat structure, the track feels like a sonic odyssey. Psychedelic elements and exceptional guitar work add layers of complexity, while leftfield textures make it stand out. The result is a piece that's unique, grounded but also otherworldly. 'Medvind Part 1' is a great example at the ability of the band to create an outstanding blend of various styles of music such as Latin, ambient and folk music along with many others. Vind is a rewarding journey for all who cherish inventive music.

Review: It has been two decades since we last heard a peep out of post-emo triplet Karate. Thankfully, the one thing that hasn't changed in that time is their deft songwriting abilities - striking a sumptuous balance between jazz-blues, unplugged pop-punk-grunge-garage, and some other bits in between. Folk this ain't, but it feels cut from a cloth that's stored close by, at least. Here we are, then, with Geoff Farina offering us ten new tracks with help from long-time partner on this project, Andy Hong. 35 minutes of beautiful songwriting, exceptional guitar work, and a mood that's somewhere between sombre, chilled out, and primed to explode, this might be one of the most re-listenable rock records we have had the pleasure of writing about in some time. In fact, it is.

Review: Kartell's debut album Everything Is Here melds French electronic accessibility with r&b and disco grooves while also drawing on prog rock's esoteric elements and introspective psychedelia. Nostalgic yet forward-looking, it expands on his EPs with dream pop aesthetics and the futuristic allure of the 60s and 70s. Space rock's nebulous textures and ethereal sounds permeate throughout as tracks are anchored by minor-key grooves. The dense, cinematic production weaves a vivid tapestry, integrating live bass, drums, and guitars amid hazy effects and synths to leave you lost in sound.

Review: French electronic duo KaS Product were proper enigmas. Their first decade of activity, from 1980 to 1990, was marked by carving out their own niche within a fertile and noisy corner of music close to punk, early cold and minimal wave, and indie-electro. Compared by some to Kaleidoscope-era Siouxsie and The Banshees, Soft Cell and Suicide, it's no stretch to say that without this pair -the late Spatsz (Daniel Favre) and Mona Soyoc - the likes of Prinzhorn Dance School would sound different. By Pass was up there with their finest hours and most defining creations. Arriving in 1983, it's packed with a kind of dark, back-room-of-a-dive bar venue edge that is at once anarchistic, surreal, and beautiful. 'Tina Town', for example, will raise the hair on the back of your neck, 'W Infatuation' seems to belong in some batshit Broadway musical, 'Mingled & Tingled' is all about groove and seduction. Excellent all round.

Review: It's safe to say Happenings is the least Kasabian sounding record we've ever had, although realising that makes you start to wonder what Kasabian ever really sounded like. Experts at hybridity, they've built an enviable reputation - and huge following - from mixing a kind of lager indie rock with more experimental elements, nodding to synth, post punk, electronica, even nu rave at times. But we can't think of many times they've come as close to sugar-coated MGMT territory as on 'Darkest Lullaby', the second track on this latest outing. Things don't stay there, though. 'GOAT' is a strange mash up of grit and candy floss with guitars and keys blazing, 'Passengers' threatens to take flight with its soaring (and decidedly sing-along) pop chorus, 'The Hell Of It' introduces growing bass music tones, 'How Far Will You Go' approaches a kind of jump up nu-metal.

Review: It's been almost 15 years since Kasabian were awarded the Q Awards 'Best Act in the World Today', and 27 years since the Leicester lads first got together. Rising to fame through their riotous version of boisterous indie rock, informed by electronica as much as Britpop's ferocity, we always knew they would eventually soften and become less swagger-ish, a transition that seems to be in full effect on Happenings, their second record without the presence of lead singer Tom Meighan. Their poppiest effort to date is still powerful stuff - there are choruses and chords here big enough to fill six Wembley Arenas, and other mammoth venues they've packed with lager-throwing disciples. More than enough to keep the old guard onside, Happenings also has plenty to win over new followers befitting the band's new era.

Review: Originally released in 2009 and celebrating its 15th anniversary with this half-speed remaster on lush red marbled vinyl, Night Is The New Day serves as a genre-bending meander through progressive Scandinavian metallic sonics whilst pulling on elements of gloomy doom rock and synth-laden coldwave. Often spoken in the same breath and with equal credence paid to the likes of Opeth, Ulver and Porcupine Tree, the album is a work of sublime, depressive beauty with ever-shifting pieces like the bombastic-turned-mercurial 'Forsaker' offset by the post-folk vulnerability of 'Idle Blood', leading many to consider the eighth full-length in the Katatonia catalogue to be the finest summation of their expansive vision. The work would also notably be the last to feature the Norrman brothers handling rhythm guitar and bass duties.

Review: Mississippi Records' obsession with underground Greek music continues with ten ultra-rare recordings of heartbreak and vice from rembetiko legend Giorgos Katsaros. Katsaros, who by some accounts lived to be over 100 years old, carried the old songs of Greece to the Diaspora in the United States, bridging centuries of music in one storied lifetime. Born in 1901 on the Greek island of Amorgos, Katsaros was enchanted with the songs he picked up as a kid in the streets of Piraeus and Athens. Encouraged by his grandfather, an amateur singer, Katsaros developed a style that mirrored his upbringing - centuries-old Asia Minor songs, island rhythms of his homeland, well-known Athenian songs of the time, and anonymous rebetiko songs. This new decalogue brings a well-selected chronology - sieved from a wider, but still minimal, corpus of just 64 recordings made over the course of Katsaros' life - and melts it all down in a single crucible. The sense of hypnotic intrigue is central to Katsaros' music, and is made obvious as soon as one drops the needle on the record: what starts out from simple instrumentation - mere elegiac voice, and steel-string guitar - ends on a reverent, lulling high (the mechanism behind which effect, we have no idea).

Review: The legendary Giorgos Katsaros, a revered figure in Greek rembetiko, is celebrated in this remarkable collection of ten ultra-rare tracks. Known for his steel-string guitar and powerful voice, Katsaros shaped Greek underground music, transporting it across the Atlantic to the Greek Diaspora in the US. His songs reflect the soul of a bygone era, blending rhythms from Asia Minor, Greek islands, and the streets of Piraeus and Athens. Born in 1901 on Amorgos, Katsaros was deeply influenced by his grandfather and the street music he absorbed as a young boy. His sound captures the spirit of the manges, the rebellious figures of early 20th-century Greece who found solace in wine, hashish, and music. This collection, remastered from 64 surviving recordings, revives the rich, melancholic beauty of his guitar and voice, carrying listeners into the smoke-filled taverns where his music thrived. These newly remastered recordings, pressed on red vinyl, breathe fresh life into Katsaros' timeless work, ensuring his legacy endures. With lyrics translated by Tony Klein and newly unearthed research by Greek historians Stavros Kourousis and Konstantinos Kopanitsanos, this release provides a comprehensive look at the myth and music of a Greek icon. The LP comes complete with extensive liner notes, adding depth to this already essential release.

Building on the success of Jupiter 13 (2021) and The Strange Life of Persephone Nimbus (2022), this album unveils a sumptuous and organic sonic landscape, delving into dark and enigmatic realms between life and death. Steve Kilbey, renowned as the frontman of The Church, infuses each track with emotional resonance and mystery. Martin Kennedy, drawing from his extensive experience with All India Radio, adds layers of sonic complexity, creating an immersive experience. Together, they invite listeners to break out the ouija board, turn off the lights, and immerse themselves in the mysteries of Premonition K. Review: Keshi's new album Requiem is a powerful statement to his growth as an artist. Created across Houston, LA, New York, and Tokyo, this 13-track album showcases Keshi's exceptional talents as a songwriter, producer, and performer, with an ambition clearly aimed at arena performances. Born Casey Luong, Keshi has built a reputation for his unique blend of lo-fi hip-hop and r&b, characterised by soothing vocals and deeply introspective lyrics. Requiem, his sophomore album, follows 2022's Gabriel, which solidified him as a top debut artist. The new album delves into themes of love and loss, particularly influenced by the death of a close friend. This profound experience shaped Keshi's perspective on life and time, culminating in the album's title track, 'Requiem,' which reflects a coming-of-age realization. The album also features the single 'Say,' infused with city pop influences, adding another layer to Keshi's evolving sound. Requiem promises to be a deeply emotional and resonant project, continuing to connect with listeners worldwide.

Review: Studies In A Dying Love is Edmonton-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, arranger, producer, and DJ Aladean Kheroufi's debut full-length album. It finds him crafting soulful, idiosyncratic songs with a melancholic yet optimistic vibe that mix pain and pleasure in musical form. Starting at 17, he toured extensively as a session player, performing with acts like The Velveteins and Marlaena Moore, and opening for artists such as Angel Olsen and Orville Peck, all of which helped him hone his skills. Influenced by Curtis Mayfield and Sunny Ozuna, Kheroufi's minimalist soul sound feels timeless throughout this record which comes after a series of sought-after 7" singles.

Review: David Kilgour's A Feather in the Engine, his fourth solo album, blends smartly crafted psychedelic pop with stunning, off-the-cuff guitar instrumentals. The album opens with 'Sept. '98,' a meditative piece featuring shimmering guitar lines and subtle organ phrases, setting a tranquil tone. Tracks like 'Slippery Slide' and 'All the Rest' showcase Kilgour's knack for quirky, pastoral psych-pop, though his subdued tenor fits perfectly with this relaxed style. Highlights include the upbeat 'Today Is Gonna Be Mine' and the drone-infused 'I Caught You,' which features a captivating bass groove. 'Instra 2 Reprise' stands out with its masterfully arranged string quartet by Graeme Downes, complementing Kilgour's vocals and guitar work. The album closes with 'Backwards Forwards,' a textured, reverb-laden exploration centered around a few central chords. At 38 minutes, A Feather in the Engine may feel brief, but its beauty and charm make it a perfect choice for unwinding after a long day. Kilgour's ability to create a serene, engaging atmosphere is undeniable, making this album a welcome addition to any collection.

Review: Returning with their highly anticipated follow up to 2019's Atonement, while marking the sixth overall full-length to feature original vocalist Jesse Leach (who re-joined following the departure of his initial replacement Howard Jones for 2013's Disarm The Descent), the ninth album from melodic metalcore heavyweights Killswitch Engage serves as a triumphant victory lap of their sonic saga thus far. Self-proclaimed to be their most collaborative endeavour to date, the seasoned veterans deftly balance their complex, chugging anthemics and pioneering lead lines of the incomparable Adam Dutkiewicz with saccharine hooks and earnest bombast, while Leech's frenetic switching from gravel-throated shouts to vulnerable clarity add poignancy to cuts such as the triumphant lead single 'This Consequence' tackling "everything the past five years has thrown at us as a band, as humans, and society as a whole". Be prepared for a glorious return to form from one of the genre's most integral foundation builders..

Review: USA, King Crimson's second live album, originally released in 1975, gets a well-deserved deluxe reissue. This album captures the band's final performances from their 1974 "USA" tour, showcasing one of their strongest line-ups: Robert Fripp, Eddie Jobson, David Cross, John Wetton, and Bill Bruford. The reissue features the original six tracks plus three additional songs from the 2002 30th Anniversary Edition. Recorded primarily at the Casino in Asbury Park on June 28, 1974, with one track from the Palace Theatre in Providence, this album exemplifies King Crimson's live prowess. Highlights include the thunderous 'Larks' Tongues in Aspic (Part II),' the atmospheric 'Exiles,' and the intense 'Fracture.' The inclusion of 'Starless,' from their Red album, is particularly noteworthy, as it's one of their finest compositions. '21st Century Schizoid Man,' a staple from their debut album, and the improvisational 'Asbury Park' add to the album's diversity. The deluxe edition's sound quality is exceptional, with added violin and keyboard parts by Jobson enhancing the experience. This reissue surpasses Earthbound, their previous live album, in every aspect - musicianship, setlist, and production. USA stands as a quintessential live album, capturing King Crimson at their creative peak.

Flight b741 embodies a primal, instinctual feel, as described by bandleader Stu Mackenzie. The goal was to create something raw and gut-drive full of fun and spontaneity. Drawing from the 70s American rock influences of their youth and their garage-rock origins, Flight b741 is a thrilling, dynamic creation. The album's ten tracks feature rough song structures brought to life by inspired improvisations, unique grooves, and a collaborative vocal approach where each band member contributes their voice. Review: The label that's putting this out, Reverberation Appreciation Society, curates LEVITATION (formerly Austin Psych Fest) and anyone familiar with said festival will know that they put on arguable the best curated psych fest in the world. Their catalogue appears to specialise in live releases with the likes of The Dandy Warhols and Moon Duo having had live releases through them. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is another top-drawer 70s-influenced psychedelic rock band with a longstanding relationship with the label. The Aussie band are among the most hard-working on the planet, with a stunning live reputation thanks to their improvisational wig outs, which channel Led Zeppelin at their most exploratory and Krautrock legends Can at their most hypnotic. This live set extends to eight discs because it's recorded over two nights in Queens, New York City, and songs often stretch beyond ten minutes, since they lean into those instrumental wormholes with full commitment. And, to their credit, their sets have that effect on a listener that's most possible when listening to the very best players - that transcendent journey into a parallel world where the ills and woes of the daily grind feel far away.

Their infectious lo-fi tracks are rich in emotion and brimming with funky grooves so make for a catchy listen. This group actually picked up props from Prince himself before the late Purple genius passed in 2016 and since then jazz innovator Kamasi Washington has also annoyed himself as a fan. Review: Following on from Slayer's 2019 farewell tour, (which has now been made semi-redundant by their recently announced comeback festival run), scalp-tatted axeman Kerry King made it clear that he would need to be dragged kicking and screaming from the metal realm, regardless of the activity of his primary project. Hence, we arrive at the endearing curmudgeon of thrash metal greatness on his debut solo affair From Hell I Rise. Not on his lonesome, however, as King has tapped a one of a kind supergroup line-up to enlist him in his continual 40 year effort to melt faces. Accompanied by former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph, ex-Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel, Kyle Sanders of HELLYEAH on bass and Death Angel's Mark Osegueda handling vocal duties, expect breakneck paced mayhem, frenetic riffage and masturbatory shredfests as far as the ear canals can capture.

Review: Originally released in 1996, Ear Candy would serve as the sixth full-length from often unfairly slept on progressive metal-oriented hard rock titans King's X. Following on from the commercial success of their 1994 predecessor Dogman, the album would be the band's last for Atlantic Records as it failed to hit the same numbers, yet that blessing in disguise would eventually give them a new lease on life with Metal Blade. Long out of print, the wonderful people over at Music On Vinyl have given the record its overdue flowers with their reliable numbered 180-gram audiophile treatment on lush purple wax, restoring the highly technical yet accessible fluidity of bangers such as 'Sometime' and 'Picture', with the latter being an updated version complete with new lyrics of an older cut titled 'The Door' originally written under their previous moniker Sneak Preview, while 'A Box' features guest vocals by Glen Phillips of California jangly alt rockers Toad The Wet Sprocket.

Long before they formed Kings of Convenience the pair were in the same class at school, writing comedic raps about their teacher then founding Skog ("forest"), their first joint stab at 'serious' music. Today, the duo have a string of gold and silver certified albums behind them. This is one. Originally released in 2009, 15 years on Declaration of Dependence still sounds as calmly breathtaking as it did back then. Quiet, soft, gentile, yet anything but twee, the sound straddles the line between indie pop and indie folk, and also represented the start of a new era in music distribution - getting its initial release as an exclusive for subscribers of a certain streaming platform, but that's another story.

Review: Nashville based bad haircut sporting, southern-tinged indie rock darlings Kings Of Leon were met with immediate acclaim and hyperbolic levels of high praise across their initial three-album run, yet when 2008's Only By The Night, and to a more specific extent, the 'Sex On Fire' phenomenon transpired, the same hipsters who one summer prior were burning everyone's ears off with endless recommendation were now lambasting the group for their expansive success. This shift in perception was clearly felt internally, as the next decade of output would suffer from aimlessness and a clear lack of spark, until timid signs of reignition would appear on 2021's When You See Yourself, which in retrospect, now seems to have been a sonic toe-dip back into folk-driven, neo-Americana while boasting enough wit and self-awareness to still appeal to their more mainstream followers. Going one further, Can We Please Have Fun feels like a plead to themselves and their core devout fanbase to return to a time before 'Use Somebody' was in every TV advert, when Kings Of Leon were a cheeky, bluesy batch of enigmatic rockers with questionable haircuts and charming southern drawls. They might still look like pop megastars nowadays, but on their ninth full-length, the Followills sound more self-assured, and joyous as ever.

Review: Now 21 years into a hugely successful career, you'd forgive Kings of Leon for resting on their laurels. That they've not done that with Can We Have Fun, their ninth studio album. Instead of dialling in alt-rock-tinged American rock anthems - their stock-in-trade - they've instead delivered a set that's as spiky, unpredictable and infectious as their earliest work, while also making space for moodier, slower and more atmospheric songs. So, on one hand you have recent single 'Mustang', an infectious slab of garage-rock funkiness, and the weighty Foo Fighters riffs and booming bass of 'Nothing To Do'; on the other the slow-motion beats, effects-laden ambient textures, soft-burn guitar solos and dreamy sonics of 'Split Screen' and the country-goes-indie flex of 'Actual Daydream'.

Review: Kings of Leon's ninth album, Can We Please Have Fun, marks a rejuvenating return for the Southern rockers. Produced by Kid Harpoon and mixed by Mark "Spike" Stent, the album forgoes anthemic singles in favor of jangly rock with nuanced lyricism. The band's relaxed and positive mindset during recording shines through, despite themes of tragedy and introspection. Opening with 'Ballerina Radio,' the album sets a noir-like scene with restrained melodies and a hint of positivity. Tracks like 'Nowhere to Run' and 'Nothing to Do' showcase the band's post-punk influences, while maintaining their signature energy. The album's middle section slows the pace with meandering tunes before building up to the angsty 'Hesitation Generation' and closing with the garage rocker 'Seen.' Throughout, Caleb Followill's raspy vocals and the band's dynamic instrumentation create an enjoyable listen. Can We Please Have Fun may not be a complete departure from the Kings of Leon's previous work, but it's a welcome evolution that showcases their ability to craft compelling rock music with depth and emotion.

Review: Movements Vol.12 fills a bag of rare rhythm & blues, mod-jazz, and mid '70s funk. Launching on a note of obscure rhythm and blues from the 60s, most of the tracks heard thence were sifted from "hopelessly obscure" 7" singles; hopelessly obscure, that is, until now, when many a ravenous compilation curator seek to restore their honour. With most of the tracks doused in vocal reverb, and coming filled with oodles of commonsensical wisdom and everyday tootling advice, we segue from deepfunk to big band to mood jazz and then back to funk, the most impressive in the lattermost category having got to be the 4 Dimensions' 'Hipper Snapper' and Gus Brendel's 'Sax On The Rocks'; the instrumental side of the record is especially great.

Review: A fresh version of the 1976 Kiss classic complete on neon orange vinyl, Bob Ezrin, the original producer, has returned to the master tapes, improving the album's dynamic range and depth while preserving its original essence.to be an exhilarating experience, reinforcing the album's status as a cornerstone of their fabled 1970s output. With more drum presence and more audible guitar layers, enriching the original mix. While Bob Ezrin's remix emphasises modernity, adding subtle nuances like additional acoustic guitar on 'Beth' and varied echo effects, it doesn't drastically alter the core experience but really enhances The inclusion of alternate takes, such as the original guitar solo in 'Sweet Pain,' provides intriguing insights into the recording process. Fans will appreciate the remastered sound and the historically significant artwork, making this a worthwhile collector's item that celebrates the album's legacy with a modern twist. Review: The latest album from Michael Kiwanuka continues his exploration of soul, folk and jazz, with production from Danger Mouse and Inflo. Following the path set by his previous work, the album offers a familiar yet comforting sound, blending rich soul vibes with subtle jazz influences. The opening track, 'Floating Parade', sets the tone with its dreamy, nostalgic atmosphere, while 'Lowdown' - a two-part track - channels 70s Afro-rock with a laid-back vibe. Kiwanuka's introspective lyrics reflect themes of self-reflection and gratitude, with tracks like 'One and Only' and 'Stay By My Side' offering heartfelt messages to his family. Musically minimalist, the album emphasises warmth and simplicity, as seen in 'Live For Your Love', where Kiwanuka expresses regret and appreciation for his wife's patience. The album's standout moments draw from 70s soul and afro-rock influences, bringing a fresh twist to Kiwanuka's signature sound. Overall, this album provides a comforting, soulful experience, showcasing Kiwanuka's growth both musically and personally, offering listeners an intimate and reassuring journey through his life and musical evolution.

Review: Small Changes is the eagerly-anticipated follow-up to Michael Kiwanuka eponymous third LP, Kiwanuka. Produced alongside soul, hip-hop and pop production legends Danger Mouse and Inflo, Small Changes was recorded between London and LA, with this core triumvirate nonetheless expanding further into an assembly of session musical delegates, including legendary bassist Pino Palladino, as well as Jimmy Jam of the iconic Jam And Lewis songwriting and production duo. A welcome return for one of Britain's most talented songwriters, vocalists, and guitarists.
