Noise Engineering also made configuration simple via the front-panel USB connection and the easy-to-use Univer Inter section on the Noise Engineering Customer Portal. Record. Mangle. Destroy.

Nebulae is a granular sampler and DSP platform. Its phase vocoder audio engine provides elastic audio, which can be time stretched, granularized, and mangled to no end. With independent control over pitch and speed, and granular controls such as overlap, window, and density, finding new sonic territory is only a knob turn away. Nebulae can use live audio input, a recorded buffer, or audio files as the source material for its powerful audio manipulations. The live input buffer can record up to five minutes of stereo audio at 48kHz, 24 bit. In addition, up to 75 MB of stereo audio can be loaded simultaneously through the USB port. No naming convention or special formatting necessary; just plug and play.

Nebulae lives a double life as an open source DSP platform with an extensive library of off the shelf alternate instruments. You can turn the module into a lush reverb, spectral delay, or tape-style looper simply by loading a new file onto the flash drive. Do you want to tweak one aspect of an existing instrument, even the default functionality? No problem. No prior coding knowledge is necessary to tweak and refine existing firmware to your liking or start with one of our templates. Alternate firmware files can be written with Pure Data, Csound, SuperCollider, and even bare-bones C programs.

Notes: Dizygote is an A-side/B-side digital oscillator with a built-in envelope generator. The A-side builds harmonies with a square waveform and frequency modulation. the b-side distorts a sine waveform with phase modulation.

Notes: Monolith is a pitch-shifter reverb inspired by west coast synthesis techniques. It utilizes a time-domain based FM algorithm that acts as a shimmer.

Shape - knob and CV for controlling FM modulator oscillator shape. Shape wavetable transitions from sine wave (8 o'clock) to triangle wave (12 o'clock) to square wave (4 o'clock).
Clock - CV gate for tempo syncing modulator oscillator period.

Notes: Cleverly designed melodic looping sequencer/sampler, offering four pattern banks each with 16 steps, aiming to bring 'DAW-style' workflows to Eurorack - sample reversing, pitch shifting, and so on.

Suppliers notes:
Torus is an overdub looper for harmonic playback. It offers four, 16-step pattern banks for sequencing as well as other sample manipulation techniques. It was designed to bring daw recording workflows (sample reversing, pitch shifting, sequencing, etc.) to eurorack cases.

Inputs:

A, B, C, D - buttons for choosing the current pattern. When combined with chain, these buttons can be used to sequence a pattern chain. Individual chains can be support 16 steps and are kept in sync with torus's global clock.

Chain - button for chaining behaviours. Chain + A, B, C, D can be used to sequence a pattern chain. Chain + record can be used to record multiple patterns in series and then chain playback. Chain + clear can be used to clear all recorded patterns. Chain + tap can be used to reset the current pattern when it contains recordings.

Mix - knob and CV used to blend between the input signal and the recorded pattern.

Record - button and gate in for turning on and off recording. When a pattern is not recorded, record will turn on and in sync with the clock. When a pattern is recorded, record will immediately turn on and off overdubbing.

Oct - buttons for octave shifting pattern buffer playback. Oct buttons can be used to clock divide/multiply an input clock signal.

Reverse - button and gate in for reversing buffer playback.

Harm - knob and CV for choosing harmonic pattern playback speeds. Playback speeds include both integer clock multipliers and perfect intervals.

Tap - button for tapping in tempos for the internal clock. Tap will repeat the current note when the current pattern contains recordings. Combine with chain to reset the entire pattern when the current pattern contains recordings.

Clear - button and gate in for clearing the current pattern. Combine with chain to clear all recorded patterns.

Clock - gate in for clock syncing

In L and in R - audio input, left will be converted to stereo if there is no right input.

Outputs:

Harm out - gate output mapping to harmonic playback resets. This gate output will range from 1-16x the clock out frequency depending on the harm knob/CV value.

Clock out - gate output for the global clock. The output gate frequency will be 0.25-4x the input clock speed based on the oct button state.

Reset - gate output when the current pattern has reset.

Notes: Uni is a triple attenuverter utility module designed to give cases gigantic macro control knobs.

Inputs:

CV inputs 1 and 3 - CV input for bidirectional attenuation. When input cables aren't plugged into these jacks, 5v reference signals will be used.
CV input 2 - CV input for either unidirectional or bidirectional attenuation. When an input cable isn't plugged into this jack, a 5v reference signal will be used.
Switch - toggles CV input 2 between unidirectional and bidirectional attenuation.

Outputs:

CV outputs 1, 2 and 3 - attenuated CV output. If no cables are plugged into an output jack, it is summed into the subsequent output jack.

Notes: Altar is a 3-pole state variable discrete filter.

Its discrete core is a brand new design made of modern discrete transistors. The filter can morph continuously from Bandpass to Lowpass to Highpass via CV.

By changing the input gain the character of the filter can go from very clean and vocal to a more distorted acidic sound.

Notes: Following in the tradition of Evolution and Morpheus, LINNAEUS represents yet another Dave Rossum innovation in filter technology.

LINNAEUS is a stereo state variable filter that provides the unique ability to linearly modulate its resonant frequency through zero into negative frequency, while maintaining stability. With extensive voltage control of nearly every parameter, Linnaeus lets you manipulate the filter's natural response curve in new ways, to create both subtle and dramatic timbral effects. And with a "one-knob-per-parameter" interface, LINNAEUS inspires sonic creativity that invites (and rewards) real-time interaction.

LINNAEUS's cutoff/resonant frequency is exponentially voltage controllable from sub-audio to ultrasonic frequencies, while its resonant gain (Q) is exponentially voltage controllable from 0dB to greater than 60dB.

LINNAEUS's channel output response characteristics are independently and continuously variable from Lowpass, through Bandpass, Highpass and Notch, to Low and High Shelving characteristics. Voltage control of the response characteristics are independently selectable for each of the two channels.

The linear thru-zero modulation is provided by an integrated modulation oscillator and/or an External Linear FM modulation input.

The voltage-controllable modulation oscillator can track the filter's exponential frequency or operate independently. The modulation oscillator's output waveform is continuously variable from Off through Sine, Triangle, and Sawtooth, to Square. The modulation oscillator output is summed with the external linear FM input and applied to the modulation index VCA, which controls the linear thru-zero modulation index from zero to 8X. The modulation index is, of course, also voltage controllable.

LINNAEUS features include:

- Ultra-wide frequency range, exponentially voltage-controllable from sub-audio to ultrasonic via precise 1V/OCT and attenuverted CV inputs.

- Thru-zero linear frequency modulation via an internal modulation oscillator and/or an external linear FM input.

- Variable linear modulation index, voltage-controllable via an attenuverted CV input.

- Resonance (Q) exponentially voltage-controllable from 0dB to greater than 60dB via 6dB/V and attenuverted CV inputs.

- Continuously variable response characteristics independently selectable for each of the two channels via individual Response Enable controls. Characteristics include Lowpass (12db/oct and 6db/oct), Bandpass, Highpass (12db/oct and 6db/oct), Notch, and Low and High Shelving.

- Voltage control of response characteristics via an attenuverted CV input. Individual Response CV Enable controls let you independently enable or disable CV control of response for each channel.

- An integrated modulation oscillator with continuously variable waveform from Off through Sine, Triangle, Sawtooth and Square. Its frequency can be exponentially voltage controlled via an attenuverted CV input.

- A Track control that lets the modulation oscillator precisely track the filter's exponential frequency.

- Stereo inputs and outputs. LINNAEUS can process a stereo signal or two independent mono signals. While the two channels share the filter's cutoff/resonant frequency, the filter response characteristics can be independently controlled for each channel.

- The solid, high-quality construction you expect from Rossum Electro-Music.

What's with the egg?

The functional description above describes LINNAEUS as originally conceived and designed by Dave. However, late in the beta testing process, Rossum's tester, Chris Meyer, raised the possibility of alternative behavior that would let LINNAEUS function as a self-contained (i.e., no input required) stereo oscillator and/or FM percussion voice with some really powerful timbral capabilities.

While Rossum were initially hesitant to try to shoehorn the new functions into the existing interface, once Dave had prototyped them, it was clear to us all that they were just too cool not to include. So, Rossum have provided them in the form of alternate firmware accessed by pressing and holding the Egg button.

MIDI Setups can be configured with assignment modes including Dynamic, which intelligently cycles through Assimil8or’s channels to easily create polyphonic patches, Multi assignment modes ideal for playing multitimbral Assimil8or patches with MIDI sequencers, SP-1200 modes designed especially for triggering Assimil8or with SP-1200’s MIDI output, and more.

Locutus’ MIDI OUT port can be used to optionally transmit program messages when presets are changed and/or to send MIDI CC data based on the analog control voltages patched to Assimil8or’s 24 CV inputs. Using the new CV-to-MIDI options, Assimil8or and Locutus can be configured to control and modulate MIDI equipment using a eurorack modular system.

Notes: With the MORPHEUS digital filter module, Rossum are finally able to unleash the full power of the 14-pole Z0-Plane Filters that Dave invented for the E-mu Morpheus synthesizer.

The MORPHEUS Eurorack module includes over 280 filter configurations, which are called Cubes. Each Cube is composed of up to 8 complex filters that you can picture as being at the corners of a three dimensional cube (hence the name). Morpheus gives you the ability to smoothly interpolate between those 8 filters within the cube's three dimensional space.

Due to processor limitations back in the day, the original Morpheus was capable of real-time morphing in one dimension, but interpolation in the frequency and transform dimensions were set at note-on and remained static for the remainder of the note. But even with that limitation, Morpheus offered sonic capabilities that are unmatched to this day.

With the MORPHEUS filter module, you now have simultaneous real-time CV control of all three dimensions, for dynamic timbral effects unlike anything you've ever heard before. In stereo.

Like all Rossum Electro-Music digital modules, all parameters are available for adjustment with a single button press. No menu diving.

Notes: The Serge GTO is a newly designed, complex multi-functional module which can be patch programmed to provide various slew and sample functions both for audio and CV signals, but also act as a (dual) oscillator or filter or bitcrusher or ... It is one of the essential Serge modules. The GTO is an offspring of the famous Serge SSG.

The Smooth section will place a positive and negative slew on input voltage transitions for lag effects, voltage controlled portamento and for low frequency filter applications. In Cycle-mode (cycle jack patched to the input), the Smooth side “will oscillate yielding a voltage controlled triangle wave LFO. A high level into the HOLD input will enable the Smooth Function to be used as a track-and-hold circuit with voltage controlled slew rate.

The Stepped function can be used as a sample-and-hold with voltage controlled slew rate limiting. In Cycle mode, a pulse applied to the Sample input will generate complex staircase waveforms for control voltage applications and for use as audio signals.

Each side has a temperature-compensated 1V/Oct input for use as an oscillator with a frequency range of up to 20kHz (left) and 8kHz (right). Each side tracks over 5 or 6 octaves.

The Coupler is an internal comparator which compares the output levels of the Smooth and the Stepped Generators. This output is useful for generating complex control voltages or random voltages.

LP1lightplane is an expanded, tri-dimensional LS1 lightstrip. The same functions are exposed on either axis plus pressure (z) for three times the fun!

Notes: The SoundForce Chorus 6 is 16HP Juno style BDD chorus with plenty of CV inputs. It is using the Xvive MN3009 and the same audio path as the original circuit. It can do the classic Juno I, II and I+II modes. I+II modes are available from both the Juno 6 and Juno 60, each in mono (as the original) or stereo, giving you 4 I+II options. But the manual and external modes can take the module away from sweet and pretty sound territories right into weird and noisy soundscapes.

Some tech-talk:

A chorus effect is created by mixing a dry signal with a delayed signal. The delay time is modulated by an LFO to create more movement. To create some stereo width, the left and right modulation are 180 degrees out of phase. Exactly like the chorus in the Juno 6/60/106, the delay is made with MN3009 BBD chips. Also as in the original design, filters are added both before and after the BBD chips in an attempt to hide some of the artefacts of this very crude IC.

To get the audio "moving" through the chain of MOSFETs in the BBDs, driver signals are needed. This used to be done with the MN3101 BBD driver chip. Unlike the MN3009, there is no clone available of this ancient IC and this was a chance to add some modernity to the design. The drivers were replaced by a modern STM32 micro-controller along some extra ICs to convert the 3.3V logic to the negative voltage needed by the MN3009.

In order to recreate a genuine Juno-type modulation, the BBD driver signals of my Juno-106 were sampled over a few periods. Using the timer peripherals of the STM32, a replica of the BBD driver signals can be sent out to the MN3009's. Although the driver signals only follow a very basic triangle LFO shape and could have been generated using direct synthesis in the firmware, this method gives an exact copy of the original driver signals including all the potential imperfections.

Implementing a digital programmable chip also allows a digital-style interface with tactile switches and LEDs as in the original Juno interface. The last used mode is saved and loaded when the module powers on. The CV inputs (with the exception of the MIX CV) are acquired by the STM32 ADC and can modulate the BBD driver signals based on parameters in the firmware.

Features:

The SoundForce Chorus 6 has 4 main modes: I, II, I+II, MAN for manual and EXT for external. I and II are the classic Juno modes available in the Juno 6/60/106. Press both I and II to enter the I+II mode. While holding down I and II, press the OFF button to cycle through the 4 I+II options:

- Juno 60 mono - 1hz - 8% depth
- Juno 60 stereo - 1hz - 8% depth
- Juno 6 mono - 8hz - 25% depth
- Juno 6 stereo - 8hz - 25% depth

In I, II and I+II, only the mix controls can influence the sound, all the other parameters are fixed and CV inputs are not active.

Mix control:

Using the slide pot (fader) or the CV input, the mix between the dry input signal and the BBD delays output can be set. The orignal Juno balance is reached when the slide pot is in the middle (without CV connected). The mix control is a VCA-based crossfader and is 100% analog which means it can withstand really high audio rate frequency modulation.

MAN mode:

The manual mode gives you the opportunity to control every parameter of the chorus and gives you acces to the LFO that modulates the BBD delay times. Here is what you can tweak:
- time slide pot: sets the start delay time
- rate slide pot and CV input : sets the frequency of the delay time modulation
- depth slide pot and CV input: sets the depth of modulation around the start time
- mix slide pot and CV input: see above
- LFO wave: selection of different waveforms to modulate the delay time
- range: selection of 3 different frequency ranges for the LFO (S: 30Hz to 500Hz | M: 1Hz to 100Hz | L: 0.016Hz/1min to 10Hz)

In manual mode, the EXT IN CV input can be used to change the LFO wave, range or add additional modulation of the delay start time.

EXT mode:

In external mode, the BBD delay times can be modulated using an external signal through the EXT IN cv input. Plug in a CV source from your eurorack case into the EXT IN, set manually the starting delay time using the time slider and use the EXT ATT slide pot to attenuated the incoming CV signal (equivalent to setting the depth). In external mode, the depth/rate sliders and CV inputs are not active.

Stereo inputs:

The Chorus 6 can be used with either mono or stereo input signals. When the right channel is unconnected, the left channel is sent to the right jack so it can be used with mono signals. When using both inputs, each input signal is going through its own BBD delay line.

BBD delay time range:

The Chorus 6 gives you in the MAN and EXT modes a delay range that it is about doubled compared to the I/II modes. The original Juno chorus was using only a very limited range of the BBD chip and really stayed in the sweet spot. Extending to the full spectrum of the MN3009 yields pretty horrible high pitch noise at audio rate modulation, so the range has been limited to a usable section. When you apply high frequency modulation with great amount of depth, the delay time will be pushed in the extremities of its time range and quite nasty artifacts will appear in the form of squeaks and whines. Please note this is a characteristic of the BBD. If you want to reduce those artifacts, reduce the depth of modulation. On the other hand, if you are looking to add characteristic and vibe to the sound, audio rate modulation and plenty of depth will help you to get there.

Input levels:

Both Eurorack and Line level signals can be used as input for the Chorus. A small slide switch between the 2 PCBs can switch between Euro and Line. In Euro levels, the input signal is attenuated to an healthy level that is well below the BBD distortion point. Some headroom is also needed as the chorus is a sum of the input signal and the modulated delayed signals. For that reason, when the chorus is turned off the output attenuation is about 50% of the input level. When the chorus is on, the resulting output amplitude is similar to the input level. Line levels are also accepted by the module when the switch is on Line. Please note that Line levels input will be amplified to the Eurorack levels range at the output of the module. So the output levels are Eurorack in both Euro or Line input ranges.

OBEY is a dual-function module: one half envelope follower and one half attenuverter / offset generator.

Envelope Follower:
The OBEY takes an audio or CV signal and uses it to trigger an envelope or gate for use in a Eurorack system. It is designed to work with a wide variety of input levels: plug a Eurorack module, passive microphone, piezo, guitar, drum machine, Game Boy into your Eurorack system.

Attenuverter / Offset Generator:
Attenuvert your voltage sources up to two times in the positive or negative! The offset generator provides up to 5 volts in the positive or negative.

Notes: The classic ADSR envelope with CV control for all parameters

The ADSR module offers the classic four-stage envelope (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) that is not only loopable (patch the end output into gate input) but also accepts CV control over each of the stages! For the time values (A, D, R) the value set by the knob can be increased to five times the duration by the corresponding CV value. For the Sustain value the knob and CV value are simply added.

Notes: The CVSHIFTER module is the AE version of the well-known analogue shift register modules that are around in the modular world since a long time. It works like this: The CV input is sampled with each trigger input signal and this CV is sent to the CV 1 output; at the same time, all CV outputs 1-4 are shifted by one.

Compared to the "classic" circuits, this module is digital based and therefore doesn't suffer from drift as some analogue ASRs and S&Hs do. The result is, that you can e.g. control the pitch of up to four oscillators which is a first step into polyphony.

The CVSHIFTER module offers three modes:

Classic: Each trigger shifts the CV outs by one position, the new CV goes to output CV 1
Cycle: Each trigger sends the CV to the next output channel, restarting at out 1; additionally a gate signal at the according output.
Random: The CVs are sent in random order to one of the four outputs, plus a gate at the according output.

Notes: The DIODEFILTER is an adaption of the well-known diode ladder filter that became most popular by Roland's TB-303 bassline. And here it is for the AE modular!

Notes: DRONX is a special mixer designed especially for the DRONE38 module; if has 6 input channels (so you can connect two DRONE38 modules) and offers some sound processing capabilities: A tone control with bass and treble control, a distortion, and finally a dual delay with different algorithms. Two insert points allow to add up to two more audio effects to the internal signal chain. Together with the DRONE38 module(s) you get a quite nice drone synth for dense, dark soundscapes.

Of course, it can be used with any other sound sources!

Notes: Unique, vintage reverb sound.

The SPRINGREVERB module brings the unique sound of this quite old (introduced in the 60's) technique for creating reverbs to the AE modular.

The reverb works by sending the audio signal to a set of 3 springs; at the other end of the springs the sound is picked up by a transducer, converting the mechanical movement of the springs back into an electrical signal. When the audio signal arrives at the end of the springs, the waves are reflected several times; these reflections create the reverb sound.

The spring "tank" (a metal box containing the springs and transducers, size approx. 24 x 9 x 3.5 cm) is connected externally by a cable.

The product contains all components: The module itself, the spring tank and the connection cable.

Note: The sound of a spring reverb is quite unique and has a strong vintage character; if you are looking for a more "clean", natural sounding reverb please take a look at the MULTIFX module.

Notes: With the STOMP-IO module, you can integrate guitar effect pedals and similar devices into your AE modular system! For output (send) and input (return) return there is a mono minijack socket; two minijack to 1/4" socket adapters are included as effect pedals usually work with the latter ones. Send and return levels can be controlled with separate knobs.

Notes: XMIX is a swiss knife for signal mixing and attenuating, offering four(!) mixers and two attenuators in a 1U module. It is designed especially with very small AE systems in mind.

Notes: The module was named Kuzmin Filter in the past as a tribute to the developer of the Polivoks, Vladimir Kuzmin. For certain reasons, the module will now be called GRUNGE Filter (due to the sound), with the circuitry remaining unchanged.

The Polivoks was a Russian synth that was produced between 1982 and 1990.This module is the AE version of the filter that gave the Polivoks a unique, rough sound.

Beyond the basic design, this filter offers some additional features:

Two different resonance characteristics, hard and soft
An FM function, that adds the input signal to the modulation of the filter
An optional overdrive for the output, making the sound even more rough and untamed.

Notes: Designed with versatility in mind, MapVolt is a dual-channel Universal Voltage Processor built for flexibility in handling audio and CV signals.

With only 6hp, Mapvolt is a multipurpose tool for voltage-controlled scaling, inverting, offsetting, subtracting, and mixing functions.

Each channel of MapVolt can operate in either Polarizer or Attenuator mode, allowing manual control via knobs or CV signals. In Polarizer mode, it functions as a Voltage Controlled Attenuator-Inverter, granting control over signal level and polarity. Additionally, it can be used as a Four-Quadrant Multiplier or Ring Modulator for audio signals, with the processor input serving as the carrier signal and the polarizer's CV input acting as the modulator.

In Attenuator mode, MapVolt operates as a VCA, providing control over signal levels. Its VCA CV input range of +5/-5 makes it well-suited for amplitude modulation (AM) with other +/-5V waveforms.

MapVolt is equipped with dedicated Voltage Offset knobs for each channel, which can be controlled via CV. If no input is patched into the Processor input channel, the Voltage Offset knobs can be used as Offset Generators.

With its dedicated mixing stage, MapVolt enables the combination of both channels into a shared output. Furthermore, if one of the processor channels is inverted, it allows for the subtraction of one signal from the other.

It is a completely original circuit inspired by the singular nature of Vactrols and their fluid and natural character.

The Filter section provides the three fundamental filter types: Lowpass, Bandpass and Highpass.

A Resonance knob with voltage control input is available for improved modulation flexibility. The feedback knob interacts with the Resonance path, tempering it from creamy resonance to wacky self-oscillation.

Filter and VCA run in parallel, both are controlled by the Freq/Amp knob and it's associated voltage-control input. The combination of both signals can be crossfaded with a dedicated knob.

The Freq/Amp is also controlled with direct touch control on the panel via the 3 lines below the knob.

The filter frequency control can be inverted by the Inv Freq switch, providing the possibility to change the filter direction. This feature allows the filter to "close" when the VCA is "opening" or the other way around.

The Ping input allows to generate the well known vactrol filter percussive sounds if a gate or trigger signal is provided. The Ping frequency if controlled by the Freq/Amp knob, ranging from low kicks drums to high pitch bongos.

There is also a Drive knob to take care of your saturation needs. The Overdrive range is wide, from soft textural clipping to heavy distortion.

SkipLog is a 3-channel rhythmic probability processor designed for inventive rhythmic exploration in modular setups. Introduce unpredictable rhythmic possibilitis to your creative flow.
SkipLog's basic operation is simple: when a trigger or gate is received at one of its three channels' inputs, the same channel’s Probability knob allows you to control the likelihood of these triggers or gates reaching the output. This inputs are internally connected .

SkipLog continuously captures the binary outcomes of its use, storing them for potential sequences. Activate the Loop function to break from pattern creation and loop the recorded sequences. ART QUAD QUANTIZER is a four channel CV to ART Quantizer to play ART oscillators from CV sequencers, LFOs and anything that outputs CV. This is Tiptop's second ART controller option and is designed for those of us playing ART without a computer or MIDI source. The inputs take in positive, negative, bipolar CV voltages.
