Review: Ignore the typically self-depreciating title - when the 'same old bollocks' in question happens to be a set of songs that changed the world irrevocably, they can have all the reissues they want. Capturing the notorious London punk monarchs on their first foreign live outing, to Paris in September 1976, this double album presents pretty much the whole of their only studio album Never Mind The Bollocks thrashed out in adrenalin-fuelled fashion, with the addition of three other lesser spotted tracks. This trio, namely a suitably snarling cover of the Monkees' 'Stepping Stone', plus originals 'Did You No Wrong' and 'Satellite', are worth the admission price alone, with the latter's delightfully nihilistic polemic ("Lookin' like a dirty lavatory/There ain't no bid for your chastity") proving unmissable. Review: This Record Store Day 2025 exclusive marks the vinyl debut of First Love, Last Rites-the 1997 indie film soundtrack composed by D.C. alt-rock band Shudder To Think. The album features collaborations with Jeff Buckley, Liz Phair, Billy Corgan, John Doe and Robin Zander among more. Notably, Buckley's rendition of 'I Want Someone Badly' stands out as one of his final recordings and finds him delivering an emotionally charged performance. The soundtrack's blend of indie rock and poignant lyrics in fine vocals captures the film's introspective tone and now this limited edition release makes this '90s classic available on vinyl for the first time.

Review: Offering up a fly-on-the-wall earful of the legendary punk spoken word songstress at the peak of her prowess, First We Take Manhattan is a live LP captured at New York City's iconic CBGB's on August 11th 1979, whilst touring in promotion of the Todd Rundgren-produced Wave, which would mark the third and final album billed under the Patti Smith Group. Whilst receiving somewhat of a mixed reception upon release due its more radio-friendly oriented sound, longtime staples such as 'Frederick', 'Seven Ways Of Going' and 'Dancing Barefoot' all make appearances, exuding Smith's unbothered stance towards critical reception, while also making room for Easter deep cut 'Space Monkey', as well as a reliably hefty dose of material from her classic 1975 debut solo LP Horses, including 'Redondo Beach' and 'Kimberly'.

Review: Tim Barnes, Marco Fusinato, Aaron Hemphill, Brad Laner, Katsura Mouri, Ralf Wehowsky, and C Spencer Yeh are drafted to collaborate with Sissy Spacek for this new outing from the Los Angeles experimental outfit. Now 26 years young, the group originally emerged from the very anti-Tinsel Town sounding noise and grindcore scene in Southern California, but to say that was just the beginning of their journey would be an understatement. Quite where we've ended up now is anyone's guess, mind. Entrance seems to be a noisy place that has little by way of structure but plenty in terms of ideas. Concerned with at least some of musique concrete's principles, one of the best ways to describe what's here is by asking what's not here. This is the sound of a loud world full of clangs, bangs, whirs, bolts, brittles, emotions and fantastical masterplans. A place that's about the atmosphere and feeling, rather than the tune.
