Review: The Deeptrax series has so far turned out many delightfully head techno sounds for those who like to have their brains as busy as their heels when in the club. This one Deep Series 1.3, kicks off with Caim's impossibly smooth and cool electro-tinged trip 'Straight No Chaser' with its mellifluous pads and deft drums. Review: New label Loopaina keeps impressing here with a split EP that offers up the talents of Swedish artist Lakej and Madrid's Biorc. The collaboration brings together the creative visions of both artists who weave together elements of Swedish and Spanish electronic sounds into rich, detailed soundscapes. 'Readjustment' is a rollercoaster though static-laced techno, 'Null Particle' is stripped back and eerie machine techno minimalism and then a Biorc mix brings more snaking synths and unsettling open space to his version of 'Readjustment' and Lakej's remix of 'Null Particle' is like being trapped in a storm in the arctic, and it sounds great.

A name like Lazer Worshippers gives off vibes of a apparent machine cult with a penchant for building sonic monuments to our AI-mech overlords. Review: Good friends Arnaud Le Texier and Antonio De Angelis have been collaborating for many, many years now. Both long time veterans of the scene, each time they get together, fans get a big treat hearing the results. Peer to peer producer influence drives them to the same high level of what being competitive DJs also does. The Split EP, aptly named, has each producer taking a side of vinyl to themselves to express their current direction. Arnaud Le Texier's 'Chocked' is a no-nonsense warehouse techno banger. Fans of artists like Surgeon or Sandwell District, this is right up your alley. The track 'Discover' has a great liquid groove to it reminding us of classic 90s material off Primate Recordings. For Antonio De Angelis's side, 'Sicario' adds a bit of house elements to this big techno sound while 'Destination' has a great melodic approach to it. For those that say techno is safe and boring, tell them about this record.

Review: Lea Porcelain, the new wave retroverts from Frankfurt am Main could very well be the next big thing that you've never heard of. The original version of "Loose Life" itself is quite difficult to locate on the interwebs but we're sure it's hard to compete with local legend Roman Flugel's slow burning remix on offer here. Darmstadt's finest Benedikt Frey is onboard too, giving "Similar Familiar" a makeover that's as unique as pretty much all his other work: part techno, part cosmic or even industrial. It's brooding, wall of sound guitars and vocals drowned in reverb battle it out against pounding 909 snare attacks and screeching synth leads. Awesome!

Review: Who doesn't love it when new Legowelt music drops? The Dutch is one of the most prolific producers in the game but he never sounds the same from one record to the next. This time out he lands on Hotmix with a two-track 10" that kicks off with 'DRUMCOMPUTER GLORY.' It's a warped track with acid tinges, mirky synths, weird vocal samples and jacked-up drums that are raw and proudly old school. On the flip side is 'CASIO CTK630 HOMEKEYBOARD', a snaking groove with hissing hi-hats and more smeared, smudgy synths that make for an unusual but alluring atmosphere.

Review: Is there anyone out there more profile that Legowelt? The Dutch wonder producer has got almost as many aliases as there are days of the year and nearly as many releases out in the world as there are grains of sand on a beach. And importantly they are all excellent, as is this new one which finds him turning on his machines and cooking up fine fusion of electro and techno that head off to the edges out our known universe. Colourful, characterful and potent for DJs and dancers, this is another essential 12" from the indefatigable synth king, not least because of the great track titles.

Review: Legowelt is one of the most prolific producers in the game and his back catalogue is packed with gems across several sounds and scenes. For that reason, Clone Records have been digging in them and now offer up 'Slam Jack Deep Chicago Ghetto Technofunk' tracks from the archives and have remastered them for the occasion. Originally crafted in the early 2000s as a tribute to the Yamaha DX synth, these tracks now sound better than ever and will jack any set. 'Dx Days' is a deep and mystic one, 'Bayville Cove' has swirling cosmic pads and chattery drums and 'Colorado Snow Music' is atmospheric and menacing.

The title cut 'Vael Method' opens up with squealing electronics and scruffy techno drums all wired up with some elastic synths. The brilliant 'Routine Procedure' is another heavy roller that is run through with paranoid pads and sci-fi bleeps while 'Self Hitting Anvil' is another spitting, menacing mix of rusty sound designs and malfunctioning electronics over linear beats. Review: Lenny San debuted on Planet Rhythm earlier this year with Fern Der Matrix EP, an impressive opening salvo of dub techno from a hitherto unknown name. Now Lenny is back with a follow up drop which leans into a thumping, crucially funky kind of peak time sound that holds true to the best kind of techno. 'Expansion' in particular is a bouncy workout of the highest calibre, while 'Disruption' is a straighter plug into the cavernous techno abyss. 'Eruption' brings that swing back in a subtle fashion, coming on like some of that early Skudge heat, while 'Dispersion' has a leaner sound palette and its own cheeky strut which offsets the steely sonics perfectly.

Review: Belgian-based producer Ilario Liburni brings some great sophistication to this new blend of techno, acid and bass. 'Tivoli' has a polished aesthetic - an air of serenity exudes from the bouncy drums and sleek synth pules that bring to mind the crisp Alpine air of the European Alps. 'Agree' is another smooth but not overcooked sound with more sonar-like synth pulses, dusty hi-hat adding a counterpoint and rubbery drums propelling things on. 'Wonderful Transmission' has a grubbier acid line and wonky leads while 'Haunted' is dubby, fulsome house with techno futurism and daubs of molten melody.

Review: First released in 2001 on the German label Phono Elements, this classic dreamatic house rendition from Christian Linder leaves us just a stone's throw away from the sea. Just two tracks - whisking, psyching, yearnsome sonic washes - yarn a careful narrative thread of beatifics and intellect, marking out a sexy sixth outing in the equally impressive discography of the Dusseldorf producer. A-sider 'Ultramagnetic' polarises things as much, through piezoelectrically pressurised yet still hair-let-down trance arps and faint vocal cries. Review: Frustrated Funk is one of the very many labels out of the Netherlands that offers up house and techno music with a through line to the Chicago and Detroit foundations. It is top tackle with a timeless edge and that proves to be true again with this one from Lost Trax. '23' is both dreamy and cancerous but groovy. 'And Or' is more wonky with mad acid, 'It's All Good' is a downbeat synth interlude, 'Grib' is lo-fi and experimental with Omar S style aesthetics and 'The Watcher' closes with more dusty and brilliant depths.

Review: Louis The 4th made something of a splash in 2024, delivering a string of well-regarded EPs on TH Tar Hollow, Prima Materia and Planet Rhythm. He begins his 2025 release campaign with a typically assured return to the latter label, taking us on an imaginary climb up Mount Agung in Indonesia. Hints of this loose theme can be spotted on opener 'Balinese Morality', a pleasingly melodic (but undeniably tough) techno workout in which rising and falling synth loops dance atop a punchy rhythm track and deep, booming bass. The struggle onwards up the mythical volcano is reflected in the dark, breathless and percussively layered techno stomper 'Drive System'. Elsewhere, 'Memoir' explores similar sonic territory to 'Balinese Morality', while 'End of June' tiptoes a fine line between lo-fi techno hedonism and melody-rich peak-time hypnotism

Review: Carnedd Llewelyn (Llewelyn's Cairn) by Luis Luchetti and Richard Rozen is a compelling 12" release on translucent violet vinyl that offers a refined blend of techno with a late-night appeal. Side-1 begins with Luis Luchetti's 'Jeilalou,' a deep late-night groove that gradually introduces soft, beautiful chords, adding a layer of warmth to the track's atmosphere. 'Encantado En Conocerlas' follows with a smooth and airy techno vibe, characterised by its atmospheric and flighty blend. On Side-2, Richard Rozen delivers 'Spell Two Fifty Four,' a track that combines melodic tones with a high-tech rhythm, creating a hypnotic and engaging sound. The EP concludes with 'The Legend Of The Son Of The Perlman,' a catchy, late-night house track that merges subtle energy with an alluring groove. Carnedd Llewelyn is a another excellent record out from this strong label.

Review: The second release - and second compilation - from this label dives into the realms of spacey, futuristic techno, delivering a riveting journey across four distinct tracks. On Side-1, Lucretio opens with 'Crystal Maze', where a deep, grooving bassline anchors a melody that feels both otherworldly and futuristic. SELA's 'Sex Work' follows, unfolding a sci-fi-inspired soundscape with eerie, ominous tones that create a haunting atmosphere. Side-2 shifts into heavier territory. Review: Luca Mortellaro's Berlin-based label Stroboscopic Artefacts rose to prominence in 2010, with the coining of the term 'compressed dub' to describe SA's unique mastering process becoming a talking point among the heads down techno fraternity. Here we see the label chief, operating under his Lucy pseudonym, release a remix 12" in anticipation of his debut album due out in March. Beelines For Working Bees sees a nice mix of established and nascent techno talent - namely James Ruskin, Tommy Four Seven, Peter Van Hoesen and Truss - rework four album tracks with considerable aplomb. Ruskin turns the album's most epic moment, "Bein", into a deeper, more sedate roller, while Truss and Van Hoesen offer bruising takes on "Eon" and "Lav" over on the flip.

Review: DJ Nobu's avant-garde Bitta label looks to fellow Japanese great in Osaka-based Erik Luebs for its next trick. As always with this fine imprint, the sounds are about balancing transcendental synths with deep tech rhythms. They are masterclasses in economical arrangement and on the surface don't do much, but when you tune in properly, they are mind-melting trips, starting with the mystery of 'Granite Monolith'. 'Irradiated Body' has loopy synth sequences unfolding at great pace with pristine accuracy and 'Coming Up For Air' gets a little more extroverted with dubby kicks and the sound of overloaded AI machines getting ever more frenzied. 'Facing The Horizon' is a flickering, optimistic and mildly euphoric sound for dropping when the sun peaks through the blinds and you celebrate getting through another night of darkness.

Review: The tasteful folks at Nous'klaer Audio are offering up the new sounds of Erik Luebs here, and you'd do well to tune in. He's an American techno producer based in Japan who fuses late-2000s minimalism and harmonies with razor-sharp sound design, syncopated rhythms and intricate production. Erik's self-released catalogue is vast but he rarely lands on other labels, which makes this one even more notable. It delivers atmospheric sounds that are meticulously crafted yet impactful, from the layers of delicate textures and rich detail in 'Beat The Lifeless Heart' to the sleek, synth-heavy rhythms of 'An Embrace'.

Review: Spaced Repetitions is a new label by veteran producer Manuel Tur who has always been known for his deliciously deep sound. For the imprint's fourth outing, he serves up two versions of a tune by Ingrid Lukas taken from last year's album ELUMELOODIA. The Estonian-Swiss singer, pianist and composer's angelic vocals remain in place up top as the dubby drums roll down low and all manner of icy synths and gassy melodic tinkles pepper the groove and get you into a celestial state of mind. The dub version allows that to come to the fore even more.

Review: Adam Beyer's esteemed Drumcode resurfaces this week with the next installment in the A Sides series. We're already up to Vol 11's sixth part, and this one seriously means business. Take for instance Hungarian techno hero Jay Lumen's 'Astronaut' featuring the pummelling cyclicality of its muscular bassline that's reinforced by truly visceral kicks. Elsewhere, Dutchman LAAT (Elevate/Tronic) is sure to have you reaching for the lasers on the steely and acid-inflected power on 'Call Of The Tribes' while the enigmatic Zimmz will properly elevate you to maximum euphoria on the trance-influenced energy of 'Qualia'.

Review: The ever-popular and always innovative Dark Entries welcomes Lust Pattern for more deviant electro explorations here and i isn't the first time the artists has graced the label in such fashion: Ryan Armbridge has previously done so as Linea Aspera many times before, exploring coldwave revivalist sounds alongside Zoe Zanias. With this alias, though, he looks to post-punk and electro-funk for inspiration. Opener 'Forming Lines' is redolent of Drexciyan squelch with plenty of live drumming powering it on. 'Choreography' has a similarly aquatic feel but with faster drums and more urgent funk and 'It's Right There In Front Of You' then slows to a predatory and menacing crawl. 'No Floor' is a motorik workout with the squelchiest of mutant synth sounds and rickety rhythms.

Review: Since delivering his vinyl debut on Tdsr in 2021, Lewis Williamson AKA LWS has established himself as one of UK techno's genuine rising stars. His dark and twisted trademark style comes to the fore on this Can You Feel The Sun label debut, starting with the dystopian brilliance of title track 'Palloon' - a polyrhythmic techno epic marked out by doom-laden, end-of-days motifs, twisted stabs, weighty sub-bass, trippy electronics and shards of fleeting sonic bliss. 'Steady On' is a more robust and forthright slab of distorted techno insanity - all stomping kick-drums, bouncy beats, rumbling low-end pressure, creepy melodic motifs and leaping one-note stabs. Elsewhere, 'Faster, Dryer' sounds like Autechre and Peverlist stuck in a lift, while 'Unstuck' is a bittersweet, end-of-days delight with added peak-time weight.

Review: Electro monarchs Maelstrom, Locked Club and RLGN return to EP-making with a four-track array of acid bangers, happily working together on a split record to celebrate the pan-European electro scene. Their offering is unequal in quantity (2 Maelstrom and 3 Locked Club tunes) but is resolutely equal in heat; 'LA Nuit Est A Toi' is Maelstrom's standout, bleepy and suffocating in its generative, janky fright. Locked Club and RLGN follow up, 'Kill Me' being the best and most suicidally pushy techno track to soundtrack our nightmares.

Review: 59 Bel is back with another transmission from its HQ in Paris and again it's an interesting take on techno. Ian Maur opens with a minimal cut that is urgent and hurried yet barely there. Deluka brings some sci-fi imagery to the loopy sounds of 'My Underground' and Louis The 4th takes off on dry, glitchy minimal beats on the serene 'Ongoing Motifs.' Model HZ's 'Render' is a more synth-laced bit of classically inclined techno and Askkin's 'Life Spectator'' comes full circle with another eerie, sparse sound for freaking out late-night dancers.
