Review: There is a great backstory to this new one on Blue Hour: when Stockholm producer, DJ and promoter Maya Lourenco aka Parallax Deep was digging for music in the local Snickers Record store, she found two classic goa and psy trance tracks that particularly interested her. As such she snapped them up, took them home and began to work on her own distinctive edits of them, rearranging sections, cutting up bits and adding extra details while never getting too far away from the essence of the originals. Her edits of those two originals - 'Gobi Desert' by 100th Monkey & Tristan from 1995 - and 2000's 'Bunker' by Four Carry Nuts - are pressed up here and both sound brilliant.

Review: Oscuro Femenino is the first release for both Desiree Falessi and Influencia Records, an EP is blending of up-tempo styles like electro, techno and trance. 'Inaccesible' is a powerful, driving, keyboard driven anthem, te main synth line harkening back to classic electroclash of the late 90s - think International Deejay Gigolo Records - with a darker, new wave underlying influence as well. 'Desmadre' is more of an 80s influenced electro that has more of a street breakbeat to it but still sounds fresh and new. For the second side, 'Matrix Dance' is primed for dancefloor destruction. This very catchy track builds to a dramatic crescendo. Lastly, 'I've Been Watching U' ends the record on perhaps our favorite of the bunch. This spacey track finely walks the line between electro and breaks while the bassline draws you closer in. Overall, a great debut dance record for this artist and label! Looking forward to hearing more!

Review: According to Craigie Knowes, this label debut from rising star Fasme is full of "trax to soundtrack your voyage through time and space". It's certainly an emotive affair, with opener 'Creeping Plant' smothering a throbbing, trance style bassline and crunchy machine drums in cascading synthesiser melodies, rushing piano motifs, swirling chords and suitably psychedelic acid lines. Fasme's love of TB-303-powered techno comes to the fore on 'Unlimited Fun' (an accurate title), while 'Lezgo' doffs a cap to the more melodious and progressive end of late 1990 trance. Fasme cools things down on the flip, tiptoeing towards the chill-out room via the head-nodding beats, ambient chords and bubbly bass of 'Snake Venom', before conjuring up some stellar ambient dub in the shape of 'Melted'.

Review: Cor Fijneman and Mark Norman are now touring the globe with a unique and fresh concept "Around The World In 80 Days". As the title says, this is done within the course of 80 Days. Both DJ's have started their tour at the main stage of the Trance Energy event (15000 people!!) and are doing performances in countries as Japan, Russia, Hong Kong, Aruba, Belgium, Greece, Turkey, the UK, Canada and the US. For this tour both DJ/producers created a special theme song, each with their special touch to it. Both themes are featured on the double disc "Around The World In 80 Days with Cor Fijneman and Mark Norman" and are heavily pushed by both DJ's during their tour. Above all this 12" is pressed on limited vinyl with the beautiful artwork which is used for the tour. It's a very special 12" for the Black Hole, Cor Fijneman and Mark Norman fans.

Review: Only the most delicate of deep house sensibilities is explored on this latest shared exquisite from Forest Witches and Sun Choi & Sons, both hailing from South Korea. Review: Where dub and ambient house meets tense techno, Sascha Funk has us covered. The prolific Berlin DJ and producer has here created a monument to a nearly lost cultural artefact: the Germina Speeder, the only skateboard made in East Germany before reunification in 1986. Known for their unwieldy quality - likely the result of technical limitations faced by the chocolate factory improperly tasked with making them - the title track on this record rolls much more smoothly than the Speeder, its trucks comparatively loosened and boardside waxed. But most skateboards out there would likely pair well with this glorious, wind-in-your-hair dance EP; 'Bo Knows' and 'Master Mind' are easy-rolling, manual cascaders of equal calibre.

Review: J.D. Twitch's Optimo Music never fails to impress. Discovering or unearthing some of the most obscure and quality electronic music and this is no exception. This time courtesy of the mysterious Rita Furstenhof. The cosmically Italo vibes of the title track features one of the most awesome arpeggios and some truly epic synth atmospheres overall. "Disco Flamingo" is a sublime slice of slo-mo deep house featuring some gorgeous melody with some soaring and soulful synth leads that have just got to be heard. Also on the flip is "Aa Viatel" which delves into the darker realms with yet another amazing arpeggio on a more sinister John Carpenter vibe complete with angelic choir chords gone to the dark side. Review: The fresh World Of Trance label follow up their excellent debut release from Trevor McLachlan with another equally crazy 2 tracker. This time it's the turn of Future Disciple for the offerings. "Explorers" on the A-side, is a pumping track from the start, building with huge energy soaked synths. On the flip, "Broadlands" again pumps nicely with a strong synth hook and an energetic bassline to lift the crowds. 2 good strong tracks for the second instalment from World Of Trance.

Review: The brand new Hyperdrive label kicks off with a mix of the old and the new - some tracks made recently, some that date back to the 90s, all of them top quality. Liquid Earth opens up with the spaced-out synths and electronic house sounds of '1_HP_D' then Art Of The State gets a little more tranced out and cosmic on '2_HP_D'. Dan Piu's '3_HP_D' is a tech house exploration with wispy sci-fi leads and a playful rhythm then Luis Malon & Seb G combine for the turbo-charged tech of '4_HP_D.' The legendary Freddy Fresh closes down with a high-speed sound on '5_HP_D.' Says the label, "Hyperdrive is dedicated to preserving the rich history of electronic music," and on this evidence, it will do so expertly.
