Topping off a project originally conceived in 2012, this is a pulsing sensation suitable for both budding techno enthusiasts and chinstokers willing to let their hair loose for once.

Over on the flip, we have someone by the name of Detroit's Filthiest (quite an accolade!) who is in fact Motor City stalwart Julian Shamou (Motor City Electro Company) known for his work as 313 Bass Mechanics or Digitek, and longstanding hero of the Midwest Freddie Fresh should need no introduction; his contribution here under the Modulator alias is the deep mind IDM journey "Promars".

Review: The Spanish Hypnotic Collective label attempts to capture its take on the Detroit Legacy with what looks like a new series of various artists' EP. There is plenty of Motor City soul in the gorgeous synths of Cignol's muted acid and deep house opener 'Distance' which is a soothing and reverential groove, but then its pure party from Barce, Alex Martin offers up 313 style tech and three further tunes on the flip explore blistering electro with high-speed funk and cosmic intent. Mission accomplished and we're already looking forward to the next one.

Ryan Sadorus brings things to a close with the smoky 'Down Below.'

There is more pace and twisted acid energy to Global Goon's untitled contribution and then old school jungle comes to the fore on the super stylish and atmospheric Gavin Masih cut. Monika Subrtova's 'Alata' is a serene and widescreen ambient synthscape that brings things to a suitably poignant close.

Review: Ever the champion of brains and brawn in equal measure, Maceo Plex makes his debut appearance on Drumcode with this punchy beast of a single. "Conjure Dreams" features plenty of Plex signifiers, from the rounded and rowdy bassline pump to the haunting tone of the synth lines, neatly packaged in a chunky framework of big room drums. "Conjure Floyd" meanwhile burrows into more minimal territory where the tones are amelodic and the percussion takes the lead, calling to mind the restraint and tension of classic M_nus productions where so much could be said with so little.

Their offering is unequal in quantity (2 Maelstrom and 3 Locked Club tunes) but is resolutely equal in heat; 'LA Nuit Est A Toi' is Maelstrom's standout, bleepy and suffocating in its generative, janky fright. Review: Brazil's Marcio M shows that Latin America loves hard techno too, which is not something we necessarily knew before we heard this. His outing on Triple A is triple X rated from the off: 'Deja Vu' is a jacked-up hard techno slammer with snuggling acid lines, caustic pads and dark vocals all trapped in the relentless rhythm. 'GTFO' has undulating loops that lock you in the here and now and unleashes bright, flashy, raved-up mentasm stabs and 'Let's Go MTF' daisy it back to a more minimal but no less driving and destructive mix of drums and synths. 'The Voice' is the final guaranteed hell-raiser with its pacey drum patterns and rusty synth textures.

Review: German artist Martin Matiske's musical journey began under the mentorship of DJ Hell, who introduced him to the decks at Gigolo label nights in Munich in 1999. Inspired by pioneers like Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre, Matiske started producing for International Deejay Gigolo Records and later for Frustrated Funk, Bordello A Parigi, and the Central Processing Unit. His new EP has already had support from Dave Clarke and Helena Hauff, including for the standout track 'Moments', which blends ice-cold snares with celestial pads and retro-future synths. Review: While not the most celebrated house music 'original' by any means, Chicagoan producer Terrance McDonald was responsible for a handful of fantastic releases in the 1990s for the likes of Djax-Up Beats and Dance Mania. However, it's his 1991 debut, Mind Over Matter, that is most revered. Here reissued for the first time since 2010, the EP blends the drum machine-driven jack of early Chicago house with the Afro-futurist electronics of Motor City techno. For proof, check the hypnotic brilliance of 'Mind Over Matter', where looped synth sounds ride a thumping beat and chunky bassline, and the more sweat-soaked 'New Mix' by fellow Chi-Town legend Steve Poindexter. Elsewhere, 'Spaced Out' is deeper, spookier and even more hypnotic - all alien electronics and restless percussion - while 'Back From Canada' is a funkier and cheerier machine jam.

Review: Five years have now passed since Russia-based Stef Mendisis first set out his stall as a maker of dark, intense, lo-fi and mind-altering club techno. In that time he's released just as handful of 12" singles, though all have been spot on. There's plenty to enjoy on the Greek producer's first outing on Mancunian label CLERGY, from the warehouse-friendly, stab-happy stomp of opener "Critical Ratio", to the similarly slamming surge of closing cut "Chroma", where hands-aloft riffs and short, looped female vocal snippets ride a booming, lo-fi techno groove. Sandwiched in between you'll find more rave-ready business, with the clap happy, organ-sporting peak-time sweatiness of "Memorex" standing out.

Review: Hailing from the brilliant, tangled web orbiting Future Sound Of London, Mental Cube was one of Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans' short-lived side projects which found them indulging in the bleep and acid house sound. Given the talent at the controls, it's little wonder this release became such a holy grail - a misfit twist on the conventional formula of club records at the time and yet still as satisfying as any of the more widely played early 90s hits. This is the first time the release has been reissued in its true original form, meaning both mixes of 'So This Is Love' and the 'Santa Monica Mix' of 'Q'. Listen out for the cheeky nod to 808 State on 'So This Is Love' - a respectful tip of the hat rather than a cheeky lift, we'd say.

Side A starts with 'Mutella', a dark, bass-driven electro track with gothic vibes followed by 'Ei Damagea', a hypnotic, otherworldly electro journey with floating rhythms and quirky synths. On the flip, 'Musantropia' shifts gears to a fast 155 BPM blend of IDM, d&b and electro and Picture's remix of 'Musantropia' extends into an eight-minute, techno-infused meditation.

His return to Kontakt brings fresh house depths with opener 'Velo-City' kicking off in urgent fashion with quickened drums and spoiling synths locking you in. 'Traveller' is a dubbed out cut with a fleshy, liquid low end filled with reverb and echoing hits that disappear off to the horizon. Last of all is 'Soul 440' (Vril remix) which ups the pace and brings sleek dub house energy and majestic cosmic synth details. All three of these are nice and cultured cuts.

Review: The Axis Expressionist series, curated by Millsart aka Jeff Mills, is back with a second EP that features a selection of tracks making their debut on vinyl. The music is less focused on the act of dancing and more, says the ever-verbose Mills, "about reflecting on the complexity and simplification of life." The opener 'The Wise One' (Khufu mix) is all steamy and ritualistic percussive sounds and mystic synths over a rolling tribal beat that turns you inwards. 'Wind Walkers' (extended mix) is a beautifully loose-limbed jumble of percussion, off-grid hits and snaking rhythms steeped in celestial charm and 'Don't Ask Me Why' (extended mix) rounds out with another snaking groove richly embellished with ancient cosmic magic.

Review: Jeff Mills has always used the Millsart alias as vehicle for his more eclectic, out there, experimental and hard-to-pigeonhole productions. He's clearly proud of them, as he should be, as he recently inaugurated the 'Axis Expressionist Series' of EPs to showcase a blend of classic Millsart cuts and previously unreleased reworks. Review: DJ Tennis's Life and Death label welcomes Italia pair Mind Against for a new single that comes with a version and remix from the much-loved Ama duo. 'Love Seeking' is a playful end-of-summer jam with taught bass sequences tumbling down the scales, hip-swinging in claps and a nice catchy, breezy female vocal up top that recalls the early sound of Hot Creations. The club mix strips it back a bit, beefs up the drums and bass and adds some more raw synth texture while smudging the vocal into a blur. Finally, the Ame remix ups the melodic feel with epic synths looping up to the heavens while some dramatic percussion and snappy drums ensure a big impact in the club.

Review: Miro Sundaymusiq was behind the first release on E2-E8 and has also turned heads with his scintillating sound designs and full-throttle synth scapes on Carl H's Animals On Psychedelics. He is in searing form once again here with the undulating synth modulations of 'ITWT' which tear up the cold, broken drum machine grooves next to blasts of fizzing energy and trance-like vocal shimmers. On the flip, S O N S 'sindang' remix is a more deep and driving techno workout for mind, body and soul. It's a powerful two-tracker for peak time and big speaker stacks.

Review: Matt Cheon & Co. unearth yet more rare gems from old school electro fiends Caroline Herve & Michael Amato here, on the second volume of Lost Trax. As story has it, after the French duo met at a rave in their native Grenoble in the early '90s, they made music heavily influenced by 80s synth, post-punk and Italo disco. Bored by the techno scene at the time, they set out out to lighten the serious tone and bring a campy sexiness to the dour musical landscape. From the sexy, four-to-the-floor EBM of "Upstart", the Drexciyan style "Love On" with its aquatic bass assault, or the classic Miss Kittin & The Hacker sound of old on the monochromatic" The Building" featuring the former's trademark deadpan vocal delivery.
