Review: A repress here of 2019's under the radar 'Box EP by The enigmatic British producer JS Zeiter, who executed more greyscale dub techno excursions of a typically high caliber on this one. After some spookily sensual ASMR action on intro 'The Code' he continues to build the suspense on the beatless Subarctic Soundscape of 'Darkness Falls' before dropping the power on the cavernous and glacial beats of 'On The Moor'. Flip over and take on more of the frozen seascape on the deeply hypnotic groove of "Empty" before one more emotional ambient outro in the form of 'Endgame'.

Review: It is now more than two years since Planet Tapes launched out of Italy and this is only the label's third release, but the wait is more than worth it. IT is Italian Domenico Rosa who kicks off with a brilliantly lush and melodic house workout that has as much old school influence as it does future soul. Deyayu's 'Asthatwhatis' sinks into a deeper, more late night vibe with strident drums and rolling bass but nice crisp claps and heady ambient synths. There is an irresistible playfulness to Two Opposites's 'Tropical Aurora' that really swells the heart while Eros closes down with 'Phased Energy' which is all glassy and celestial melodies over light breakbeats.

Review: Fresh off the acclaimed reissue of his Feuerfalter LP in both parts on Harthouse last year, the legendary Frankfurt label presents another reissue of a classic LP by hi-tech minimalism engineer Boris Brejcha. Die Maschinen Kontrollieren Uns ("The Machines Are Controlling Us"). was the Frankenthal native's second album released in 2007, where the masked crusader presented a whopping sixteen tracks. A true zeitgeist of a golden era in minimal techno, tracks like 'Brainstopper' with its atonal assortment of blips and bleeps underpinned by clipped rhythms will really take you back to the old says, as will the glitchy micro-funk of "Die Maschinen sind Gestrandet" (Second Edition) or the deep tech house of "Wellenreiter (2.0)" could have been played aboard a Sunday boat party along the River Main circa 2008.

Review: Geo Rip is the trio of Aaron Leitko, John Calvin Jones and Mike Petillo who made their debut four years ago with a cassette release on U-Udios out of Takoma Park, MD (USA). Their eponymously titled sophomore effort here on The Trilogy Tapes features four experimental cuts, all said to be improvised live-to-tape. From the wonky electronics and splintered beats of opening track "Drop In Center" leading into the off-kilter deepness of "Nah Press Fake Text", their sound then diverts into more electro (-ish) sounding territory on woozy B2 track "Underwater Bodycam".

Review: DDS presents Shinichi Atobe's new effort titled Love Of Plastic, featuring the enigmatic Japanese producer's distinct style of dub-infused house and deep, textured techno. Atobe explores various moods and grooves across the LP's nine tracks: from the rather upbeat groove of opener "Love Of Plastic 1" moving into more abstract waters on the knackered "Beyond The Pale" and leading up to the hypnotic back room dub of closing cut "Severina". Review: Given that he's been releasing long-players on the regular since the dawn of time (well, 2007), you'd expect Alexander Ridha AKA Boys Noize to know what makes a good album from an artist primarily known for the dancefloor-igniting nature of their work. He does, of course, as his latest album emphatically proves. With the help of a string of eye-opening guest vocalists and collaborators, Ridha deftly navigates between growling, mutilated, club-ready slabs of fuzzy post-electro and techno, and vocal and instrumental workouts that draw just as much inspiration from synth-pop and electro-disco. Review: Back in 2020, hip-hop, breaks and electro stalwart Freddy Fresh decided to turn his hand to vintage-sounding house and techno, self-releasing a set of tracks called The Harvest online. Rawax were impressed, with the popular label deciding to put the pick of the cuts out on vinyl. Title track 'The Harvest' sets the tone, with the veteran producer wrapping a house-tempo, post-electro groove in sustained organ chords, spacey synths and bubbly electronic melodies. 'House-Spanner' sees him doff a cap to The Middle of Nowhere-era Orbital (seriously, it's very reminiscent of the Hartnoll brothers' late '90s output), while 'Misunderstood' is a woozy, delay-laden chunk of early morning U.S deep house. Elsewhere, the deep house dreaminess continues on the interestingly swung 'Twain', and clonking, TB-303 speckled 'Horlywagon'.

Review: Hanna is a somehow rather overlooked or under-appreciated (or both) producer from the states. He had some cult classic outings on some key labels first time round then seemed to disappear only to come back again a few years ago with his superbly fresh and musical house sound more than in tact. He is a master instrumentalist and keys player who brings the jazz, the funk, the class to every tune. That is certainly the case on the warm, glowing grooves of 'Another Flannel Afternoon' with its neat synths and subtle vocals. 'Afraid Of Breakfast' is a more textured track with wet clasp and loopy synth motifs over a rugged house beat. 'In Yo Head' features 90s hip-hop maestro Jeru Tha Damaja on the vocals and gets a remix that is a perfect bit of hip-house.

Review: The Groove Access label kicks on to a third release here and it comes in the form of a split EP between Rob Threezy and Maddjazz. Threezy kicsk off on the a-side with 'Threezy', a panel beating techno workout with leggy drums and elastic bass that will spangled any crowd. His second cut, 'Liquid Metal' is another masterclass in bendy bass and chunky drum funk, this time with vocal stabs layered in for extra spice. Maddjazz then steps up to kick off the flipside in frantic acid laced fashion with all sorts of OG Chicago house ranges over booming techno grooves. 'TR DrumTool' is a final weapon for dance floor destruction.

Review: Kompakt staple Reinhard Voigt returns to the label for the for first time since 2019's 'Was Wir Spuren' (KOM 402) as well as some collaborations with his brother (label co-head Wolfgang as Voigt & Voigt) and of course the minimalist concept series as RV on the KX sublabel. This one is titled 'Cha Cha Club' and it is a dark and foggy club-ready cut that straddles the line between techno and electro. Review: After an incredible inauguration by legend Robert Armani, the second release on Techno Parade Vinyl comes from rising Chinese techno producer TPMP. The Chengdu-based arranger, mixer, mastering engineer and Eurorack modular designer presents eight original tracks on his debut vinyl album, with an extensive selection of remixes by some of the scene's biggest names such as the aforementioned Armani, Samuel L. Session and Waffensupermarkt. Style wise, TPMP goes for that greyscale dub techno sound, counting the likes of Basic Channel and Echospace as influences. Whether it's the locomotive minimalism of 'White Point', the cavernous and glacial body bash of "Gray Point" or the deconstructed EBM of "White Line" - Hardester High Frequency proves that TPMP is one to watch!

Review: Some sonic communities grow even in isolation, in the lonely obsessive moments in the studio as time melts away. Deep inside the Detroit Underground nests a Berlin underground, chasing those resonant shared sounds. DU Berlin draws together some of that love felt through music in the German capital. It's not the wild city of reunification or *Berlin Calling* or tourist-style movies or the easyJet set. This is the side of the city that endlessly romances machines for the sheer joy of it, as The Allegorist titles her track, "until dawn." And with some big names and emerging, ranging from mainstays to veteran agitators, the Berlin DU crew have telegraphed each other through productions and mutual inspiration. The results vibrate and rumble with sympathetic frequencies, but never limited to grayscale or dithered palettes.

Review: 18437 is only four releases deep but is already a revered outlet renowned for its quality output thanks to, in part, a couple of great EPs by the late great Soulphiction. This time out it is Nico Lahs using his NLXLB moniker who takes control with deep, dubby techno for the backroom or late-night hours. The blissful 'Dazed Dreams' is a pad-laced early evening warm-up. 'Dirty Vision' is a little more textured with background drums trying to hurry as lush freeform chords do a slow dance in the foreground. 'Synthetic Wars' gets all squelchy, with hefty, splintered, and wooden drums and hits tumbling in off-grid patterns.

Review: Marseille based Rafael Cerato is known for his emotional techno sound that has been heard on top labels like Diynamic Music, Stil Vor Talent, and his very own Ritual. He's also become quite the staple on Marc Romboy's Systematic Recordings, which back in 2015 released his anthemic 'Sekater', a sublime expression in dancefloor drama which still sounds as good today. Review: Veteran Los Angeles producer Truncate returns on his eponymous imprint with four heavy duty techno tools loaded directly from the factory floor. 'The Drill' follows the same Blueprint of early '90s Birmingham industrial in the vein of Downwards and Dynamic Tension, while 'The Hammer' follows in suit but with the addition of Robert Hood's style of cyclicality: steely hi-hat workouts and claps on the kick. Turn over to side B and you have the pummelling, industrial strength pressure of 'The Closer' followed by the strobey 303-led stomp of the No Gabber mix.

Review: Woody McBride's Sounds label continues to dive back in the archives and revive some absolute gold standard techno for modern diggers. This collab effort between McBride (in his DJ ESP guise) and DJ Skull originally came out in 1995, and it still sounds fierce to this day. 'The Drive' is a stripped down tool with all the right chops to tweak out a locked-in raver, but 'G-Rated' is the real gem on the record. In a blistering hailstorm of 303 squelch you get a definitive example of acid techno at its finest. 'The Power' might well find relevance in the present day trance-techno scene thanks to its unsettling leads and relentless forwards thrust.

Review: Petre Inspirescu comes through to NYC's DisDat with a sly 3-tracker detailing only the slinkiest minimal dub, the techy dance equivalent of Slinky Malinky. Operating only at night, viallike metal clanks and ominous bass booms scour the ambient wastes of 'Foc', the track's name mirroring the utterance we find jumping from our mouths on first listen. 'Si' is comparatively peaceful, while 'Para' is a dubbed-out modular afterthought; all three tracks nail an intense backend of sound, not easily achieved under normal circumstances.

Review: We hope you're hungry for some wiggy proto trance magic, because here comes a bang tidy remix package of Sam Goku's East Dimensional Riddims album, which landed on Dutch label Atomnation last year. The A side finds Lauer taking on 'Far Far Fantastic' and making it into a swirling, acid-speckled epic for full tilt, hands aloft, spiritually charged dancefloor awakenings. Breakthrough Chilean talent Paula Tape is busy on the B side with a glorious, melodious version of 'Earlier Forms' which pushes a tough, early 90s vibe that will get you jacking. Review: There are few more decorated and respected electro artists than Anthony Rother. He has been kicking out the jams for decades and seen many electro trends come and go while doing so. His own sound is in constant flux and next up is an out on Bad Manners that finds him in fine form over four cuts. First is the fizzing and visceral 'Trooper', with bumping drums and robotic vocals firmly nailed to the floor. Review: Berlin techno stalwart Fiedel serves up some more reissues of effective DJ tools on Fiedeltwo. This time around we have a 2021 Remaster of 'Doors To Manual' which was featured originally on Berghain (where he's resident) compilation Funf back in 2010. It's a typically wonky and off-kilter cut by him that showcases a truly singular approach to techno. Over on the flip, Kyiv's Espen Lauritzen contributed 'F/T/S' to Fiedel's very own mix for the esteemed Berlin club's mix series, the eighth to be precise, and it too gets a 2021 remaster. A pounding warehouse techno workout in the vein of classic Djax Up Beats, this one's serious.

Review: .Nimbus Quartet were also known as Moral and featured producers Dave Stevens and Woody McBride cooking up their own slick fusion acid, techno and house. Their 'Chunkafunk EP' from 1995 is one other best and it has now been newly remastered for this nice heavyweight reissue on Sounds. 'Your House Is Yours' is a heavyweight bumper with emotive vocal stabs and off-grid chords bringing the rawness. Then comes part II & III Simultaneously in a more late night and mysterious track defined by its whimsical pads. The epic 16 minute workout that is 'Feel Feel Feel' is high speed cosmic tech house and 'Invasion Of The Touchy Feelies' is a masterful mix of gritty tech loops and hard-edge drum funk.

Review: Mark Broom is a techno veteran, but just because he enjoys that sot of status doesn't mean he has lost his edge. He proves that here with a hefty new record on Radio Salve's mighty Rekids. It bangs from the off with his signature heavy drums defining each of the tracks across all four sides of vinyl. '100% Juice' is peak time tackle with incendiary hit hats and loopy synths, 'Slush' is a head melter with more warped lines and elsewhere 'Wonky Workout' does exactly what says on the tin. There is a brilliantly unsettling and eerie vibe to 'Boxed In' and straight up dance floor fire in 'Wiggle Me This.'

Review: Super janky and watery minimal from Chile's Ruta 5 label, helmed and regularly released-on by local mainstay Dandy Jack. Of course, Ricardo occupies a remix spot: who else? 'The Gay From Ipanema' is the minimal originals lover's choice, channelling a straight, Herbertized palette of found metallic sound. 'Labamola' nods more to bleep, while the remix credited to one mysterious 'R Villalobos' fearlessly ups the tempo to electro velocity, working in no end of sci-fi whooshes and burbles.

Review: Just a year after the last reissue of this one should out, it is back again via a different label. This time American imprint Communique serve up this rare old skool reissue of Woody McBride's 'Basketball Heores' EP. It is a punchy gem from back in 1996 is a fine fusion of acid, trance, and big room techno, with every track from 'The Birdman' to 'Darrin Houston' sounding like something between a Mr. Oizo track and a Drumcode overwhelmer. In short, it's a devastating weapon to have in your arsenal - use it wisely.

Review: The Future Sound of London keep their fans busy with a steady dispatch of music via the fsoldigital.com label, but it feels like there's a sense of occasion around this new album. Rituals E7.001 is purportedly the first part in a trilogy, and it already highly prized by the devoted followers of Brian Dougans and Garry Cobain's music. It's not hard to hear why on listening to the gorgeous strains of 'Hopiate', which harks back to some of the duo's most iconic music (we'll let you guess which one we mean). FSOL have always had a particular touch in their exploration of electronica, ambient and outernational sounds, and it sounds rich with inspiration on this new, expansive album.

Review: This double 12" compilation between Brazilian duo Stekke and producer and DJ Max Underson is a perfect marriage between the emotional aesthetic background of Underson's previous works and the precise floor-filling formula that Stekke has devised. The minimal composition is at the crossroads between deep, acid and tech house, with the wet basslines of 'The Messenger' being paired with ritualistic sub-bass lines culminating in house heaven. A real highlight on this release is side 4's 'Guidance', a smooth, grooving track that goes to show that house tracks don't always have to be cramped to the brim. The negative space used in these tracks, and the way it's used, is an art. Not to turn a blind eye to the two unique remixes on the compilation either, which take tracks to new heights thanks to the abstract re-imaginings by XDB and Melchior Productions Ltd. Universal Law is a schooling in the ways of minimal house, take notes.

Review: Into The Deep Records is a Paris-based, vinyl-only label run by Arthur Lastmann and Step Daw. It presents a reissue of Nu Ambient Grooves by Chris Zippel aka Genuine, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its release. The productions were originally released on Bavarian imprint Ninetysix Sounds back in 1997 and is full of quality downtempo, IDM and acid sounds. Opening up with the psychedelic sunrise breaks of 'Clearing The Past', it soon leads into the sunset on the chilled beats of 'Wandering Around, Lost'. Over on the flip it's all about the emotive electro futurism of 'Playground'.

Review: Rich NXT is one of the super reliable contemporary house producers who serve up functional records with a twist. Here comes another such trio on the popular Eastenderz label. 'Everon' pairs acidic bass and bobbling grooves with a heady sax line that drifts up top to add the all important special ingredient. 'Izbraz' is a much darker tune - a collision of dusty jungle breaks, haunting chords and warped vocals that is brilliantly dense and unusual. Lastly, 'Radian' slips into a freak 4am minimal vibe with a hiccupping hook and crispy 90s tech house beats.

Review: Romanian breakthrough talent Pirvu has been turning heads since 2018 with releases for the likes of Rummenigge, Meander, Understory and more. Now he lands on NorthSouth with a bristling, crafty slice of minimal tech house that subdues the minimal in favour of a detailed and busy sound powered by big basslines and hooky rhythms. 'Amazonia' is a particular standout, as catchy and playful as it is serious and deadly for the dancefloor. At times you can hear a whisper of French micro house influencing his sound, but then bassline and garage rear their heads too when you hear the wild low end flex on 'Time'. The references are relative, Pirvu is doing Pirvu and it's sounding very spicy indeed.

Review: Anonymous label Tartan kicks off with two tracks that should pique the interest of anyone who seeks out unusual swerves to spice up their DJ sets. On the A side, 'Took My Heart Away' fuses uncanny sounds from rolling thunder to South Asian vocals, strapped to a brooding beat that should be compatible with the chugging crowd. On the flip, 'Sun' nudges up the tempo a touch and spaces things out considerably, creating a swirling deepest techno mood which might well herald the odd sunrise given half a chance.

Review: The I Was Never Here EP is said to possibly be the last ever offering from Gameboy, which is sombre news as this has been a superb series that first started 15 years ago. Sakskobing Russia has the pleasure of serving it up and once again, tune tunes from Ibrahim Alfa Jnr, an artist from London, are fresh indeed. His take on electro on busy and melodic, with melancholic and pixelated chords marbling the forlorn and slow-motion electro of opener 'Waking The Others.' 'In Dreams' is another insular cut with crisp hits and glassy melodies like no other and 'Visions & Memories' then gets choppy with busted up beats, scraping perc and all manner of hits.
