Review: Tresor is celebrating 30 years in the game with a series of special reissue projects. This one really goes way back to almost the start, when Juan Atkins was already defining the early techno sound. For this one he linked up with Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann in 1992 for a second iteration of the 3 Men in Berlin project. The monumental results join the dots between Detroit and Berlin across a collection of timeless cuts that meld bassline funk, hypnotic minimalism and soulful machine sounds into propulsive, emotive dance floor joy. The unbridled energy and cosmic elegance of 'Jazz Is The Teacher' might just be the highlight.

Review: Since launching in 2013, Jennifer and Lowris' Aeternum Music imprint has established itself as one of the standout labels on the Parisian techno scene. Here, the label delivers its first compilation: a quietly impressive double-pack featuring tracks from seven members of the growing Aeternum family. There's naturally much to admire throughout, from the weird, bass-heavy wonkiness of Cabanne's quirky opener, "Karim", to the woozy, techno-influenced, analogue deep house shuffle of Seuil's "Elevate". Elsewhere, Martinez impresses with a chunk of sub-heavy tech-house bounce ("Minor Box Solution"), and Yakine takes a trip into space via the intergalactic shuffle of "MoonTalk".

Review: Circle Of Live is a collaborative electronic project led by the Swedish techno artist Sebastian Mullaert. It aims to reevaluate the structures of performance, linking artists and their machines for improvised jams. It debuted at Baskerville Hall as part of Wales based Freerotation festival, featuring a revolving cast of musicians, who in this incarnation included such big names as Mathew Jonson, Dorisburg and Johanna Knutsson, alongside festival and label co-founder Steevio. With artists like this linking up, you can just imagine what kind of magic they'd possibly conjure up and we can assure you it's absolutely sublime. These five excerpts from the live performance capture some of their most dynamic and spellbinding moments.

Review: Owen Jay and Melchior Sultana have been a fine production partnership for a while now. They craft a cuddly, heartfelt brand of deep house that is heavily influenced Mediterranean landscapes, colour and ways of life. Their new double album on Batti Batti is another classy, deep and cultured record that open on a lithe elector workout with rich boogie bass. There are also plenty of trademark smoky-deep house grooves, lo-fi beat workouts like 'West Coast' and subtle bumpers for the cosier club spaces out there. The synth interludes like 'Blurred Vision' help this play like a full listening experience, too.

Review: If you were into house and techno around this time a decade ago, you surely wouldn't have been able to avoid Maceo Plex's acclaimed debut album Life Index. The Valencia-based, Miami native finally hit the big time after many years as an underground artist, with this impressive merging of minimal/tech house with disco/soul-funk influences that would go on to be constant throughout his work ever since. This worthy reissue as part of Record Store Day 2021 features all the hits that soundtracked a rather memorable 2011, such as the lo-slung rolling funk of 'Sleazy E', the druggy and sax-led euphoria of 'Silo' and the blissed-out summertime groove of 'Dexter's Flight'.

Review: Maceo Plex has managed to pivot this alias from accessible house cuts with creamy basslines into a far more interesting project that explores astral techno with a range of different influences from sci-fi to wave to the sounds of the 80s. That has never been better exemplified than on '93, his expansive album on his Lone Romantic label. It features emo-anthems like 'Revision', disco-techno stompers like 'Go Back' and chunky robot-tech like 'All Night'. Plenty of guests from Mystic Bill to label mate AVNU Jane's Addiction frontman and alternative music legend Perry Farrell all help add a wide world of sound to the electronic core.

Review: Paolo Macri references self-sabotage in the text accompanying this new album, saying it can be "a devious and deadly mechanism of the mind that creates obstacles on the path to one's goals." He must have overcome this however as this is a record that lock you in from the start. Autosabotaggio is dark and tense minimal and techno with hints of Italo melodies, EBM and dark disco adding to the overall mood. These are cuts designed purely for club deployment and will not disappoint when used right.

Review: Following up great efforts by the likes of Van Bonn & Luis Baltes, Unknown and Shadow-Area, here is the debut LP from Hamburg's Achim Maerz on Berlin-based Freund der Familie. Relief features a wide selections of moods and grooves; from the cavernous and glacial deep house of 'Black Hole', the contemplative ambient journey of 'Dream', plus there's more deepness of the emotive variety offered up on 'Changing Weather', the understated late night mood of 'Memories' and the mesmerising closer 'On The Way' awash in dazzling layers of rich synth tones in the vein of classic Chicago sounds. Review: Having built up his self titled label alongside his sterling work as part of Oscillat, Lazare Hoche and Will & Ink, the one and only Malin Genie delivers his debut solo album. Moving beyond the pure club focus of his singles and EPs, the Genie has seized this opportunity to present a widescreen panorama of his sound, leading in with the subliminal ambience of "You" as a springboard to explore breaks, electro, techno, and especially IDM. There are so many ideas swirling round Anthropomorphic Sympathy, it's hard to know where to begin describing it. A true headphone commute for the deep listener to burrow into.

Review: The South American New Wave revolution pioneered by Matias Aguayo's Comeme label continues apace, this time with an album from Mexican producer Daniel Maloso that is, fittingly, deeply rooted in new wave and EBM. While many of Maloso's contemporaries make music that sits somewhere between new wave and nu-disco, he's nailed his colours firmly to the new wave pop mast. The production is sparse and relatively steely, with forays into tougher EBM territory (see "Steady Rolling (All My Life)" and the excellent "Body Music) and funk-infused electronic disco-pop (superb opener "Shera"). While it's well produced, there's a DIY wonkiness that recalls the early days of '80s synth-pop.

Review: Portuguese house wizard Joao Manata, who goes by the name of Manata, steps up here with his first solo release on the Nugs On Board vinyl-only label, and in the process marks five successful years. Manata has become a prominent name in Portugal's underground scene and so has naturally also expanded out to now perform extensively across Europe. His debut LP features nine tracks with each telling a unique story. The title track transports you to the nostalgic roots of electronic music with its catchy old-school synths and captivating vocals. Other standouts include the deep and pulsating electronic drums of 'Unforgettable Bonanza', outlier acid tech of 'Fastest Plane On Earth' and serene dub class of 'Flamingo Nights.' A quality album, for sure.

Review: The ever-essential deep house super group Mandar make the leap to an album in fine style after a few years of unbeatable EPs on their own Oscillat Music label and elsewhere. The self-titled LP is spread across a whopping five 12"s, but it gives latecomers a chance to catch up on some of their previous smashers such as "La Bocca" and "Delon" as well as presenting some fresh wares from the joint creative forces of Lazare Hoche, Malin Genie and Samuel Andre Madsen. The grooves bump just right, the moods unfurl like toffee-flavoured smoke and with these 12 jams Mandar prove once again why they're at the top of the deep house game.

Review: Manmade Science is producer Michel Baumann (aka Jackmate/SoulPhiction), engineer Nik Reiff and percussionist Benjamin Lieten (aka Phlegmatic). With the feeling of a raw live session, this masterpiece comes along in a variety between jazz and techno, soul and house. It also contains a live track from a Manmade Sciences Concert at the Jazz Open in Stuttgart. There are also collaborations with guest musicians like conductor, musical-director and multi-instrumentalist John Thrower playing the sax on the starter "Chicago Sidewalks" and the last song "Brown Sugar". There are some lovely vocals from Isaiah Femi Awonaike on "Turn down the Lights" and the garage feel comes with the stunning voice of Haldor Laegreid on "Just tell me when...". If you're looking for something with more flesh than just bones check this out!

Review: Long-serving Italian deep house producer Enrico Mantini has been in the game for a long time, first dropping bombs back in the early 90s, but his career has enjoyed a powerful second wind in the past few years with appearances on Half Baked, 4 Lux and more besides. Having released the Inner Heights EP on PURISM earlier in 2017, Mantini returns with an album of immersive, tripped out grooves supposedly recorded live at Tresor in Berlin. The vibe is consistently deep, refined and just a little bit trippy for the minimal house crowd to go head first into.

Review: Three years on from his debut album Stone Breaker, Mark E returns with a second long player for Ghostly offshoot Spectral Sound that finds the house producer look to his homeland for inspiration. Product Of Industry takes it's name from Evetts upbringing in the UK industrial heartland of the West Midlands, and how the current global financial situation led to him losing his job, an occurrence which resulted in Mark E the producer "Here I am, a product of industry, both currently and historically" as the producer himself has stated. Musically, the nine tracks offer a considered development from Evetts debut album, and suggest he's eminently comfortable working within the confines of the all analogue hardware used to create Product Of Industry.

Review: Fans of his Detroit techno veteran Gary Martin's previous releases on labels like Motech, KMS and Exceptional will not be disappointed by this latest offering from one of the Motor City's most underrated talents. The full-length LP Lagarius shows off Martin's knack for blending funk, soul and Afro-Latin influences, with a faster-tempo'ed techno sound. It's heavy on the detail, with arguably only trained ears being able to pick up on all its backing samples and intricacies (that's us, of course). So take it from us; from the sultry swang of title track, to the dystopian grit of 'Situational Awareness', you won't want to miss this one.

Review: Bay Area house hero and Dirtybird co-founder Justin Martin is back following up 2013's Ghettos & Gardens with his new full length LP Hello Clouds, a collection of fine moods and grooves that see him collaborate with some of his fave artists at the moment. He's quoted as saying "I reached out to specific artists who currently inspire me". Highlights include the title track where he collaborates with London pop chanteuse FEMME on this low slung acid groove. More great talents from London appear such as Lena Cullen, lending her fine vocals to the dark futurism of "Odyssey" and Bristolian rising star and fellow Dirtybird alumni Will Clarke appears too, lending his midas touch to "Back To The Jungle" which is bumpy and as bass driven as you could possibly imagine. The Amen break on top is totally killer too.

Review: Danish minimalist Martinez is already an integral part of Leipzig's Moon Harbour imprint. Having already released three EPs for the label, including his 2008 debut and recent jam, Cheesecake," the talented producer has become an important label ambassador at live dates across the world. Now, he delivers his first LP for the imprint, and his third album overall.The aptly titled Paradigm Shift sees Martinez assimilate an abundance of deep house references into his usual palette of minimal and techno. Alongside lush moments of deepness such as the inimitable "Lavender Mist" and polished "Maresias," Martinez treats us to the warm and contented sounds of "Gourmet". Intertwining the record with bursts of funk laden electronics, such as "Solaris," "Kamino" and "Mr Decocco," Martinez is also explosive at all the right times: "Damaged Color's" slinky low bass and the driving beat of "Williamsburg" both point to a more club focused angle, giving the record yet more amiable balance.
