  2. Boavista (Innellea remix)
Review: Given that it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the 2021 Stephan Bodzin album that shares its name, it is genuinely great to see 'Boavista' finally get a single release. Nestled here on side A, Bodzin's original version is utterly gorgeous - a smooth, life-affirming slab of picturesque house bliss full of rising and falling synthesizer lead lines, trippy mid-range motifs, drowsy chords and crispy drums. Innellea wisely chooses to focus on the more hypnotic and uplifting elements on the accompanying flipside remix, wrapping elements of Bodzin's original version around a trance-inducing groove. Throw in some bold, rush-inducing, progressive trance style riffs, builds and drops, and you have a genuinely terrific remix.

Review: Techno sorcerer Stephan Bodzin returns with his latest LP. In the last year, he glanced over unfinished material in his musical archive, and while spending time in Brazil, he selected 17 favourites and completed them to present on this album titled Boavista. With the aim of painting 'musical pictures that conjure up very real emotions in the listener', it features the typical style of dancefloor drama you have come to expect from the German producer such as the saucer-eyed epic 'Lil', or the strobe-lit rush of 'Astronautin' to the oncoming sunset euphoria of 'Nothing Like You' (feat Luna Semara) and the bittersweet affair River' towards the end.

Review: The techno bromance between Stephan Bodzin and Marc Romboy feels almost as old as electronic music itself. But this new 12" - which comes on the Systematic label that has housed most of their work - updates the German pair's sound through a series of contemporary remixes. The opener from Ben Bohmer is a deep and icy roller, ANNA & Wehbba bring machine grit and grime to their churning take on 'Ferdinand' and Aera layers in meticulous synth modulations. Last of all is a wide open melodic techno complete with sweeping synths. It's a fine rework by Echonomist that is perfect for enchanting big crowds.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Atlas
  2. Hyperion
Review: Mark Romboy and Stephan Bodzin have one of the longest running bromances in dance music. The two pioneering techno producers come together once more here for a fresh techno platter that brings the best out of each. 'Atlas' is a tense builder, with a buzzing and blistering synth lead rising up and down over tech edge drums. It never boils over but perfectly keeps you locked for the duration. 'Hyperion' then ducks and dives, bobs and waves with a majestic mead melody that is curious and thoughtful. The scintillating drums ensure it all adds up to a fine trip.
