You Find That I Got It (4:45)
Mjuvi (4:49)
Review: The hardest-working man in West London is back! By now we've become accustomed to Kaidi Tatham offering up regular doses of soul and jazz-funk-fired dancefloor goodness, but even by his high standards "You Find That I Got It" is something special. Warm, woozy, groovy and full of intricate musical details - brief synth solos, subtle orchestration and so on - the A-side title track is a wonderfully sunny slice of instrumental boogie-soul. Tatham's world-renowned keys playing comes to the fore on the organic broken beat/jazz-funk fusion of "Mjuvi", a flipside cut that's almost as good as the exceptional title track.

Feeling Happy (4:37)
Sooner Or Later (4:08)
Review: Artist management agency Sounds Familiar has released some terrific seven-inch singles on their offshoot record label, including essential 45s from Sadar Bahar, Danny Krivit, Specter, Kai Alce and Mark Grusane. Here's another courtesy of one-man production factory Kaidi Tatham, who continues to hit the mark with each successive release. A-side 'Feeling Happy' is little less than superb: a languid, slow-motion shuffler rich in sun-drenched guitars, warming Rhodes keys, cascading trumpet solos and the kind of fluid, positive piano motifs frequently found on great jazz records. Flipside 'Sooner or Later' is equally as positive and righteous, with funkier broken beats making way to dancefloor jazz-funk beats and more mazy, sun-ripened piano solos.

Freddie Can't Run Away (5:04)
But You Bring It Up (5:34)
Is Crimbo Really Here (5:41)
In My Life (5:49)
Review: It's already been a great year for Kaidi Tatham, whose summer album "It's A World Before You" on First Word remains one of our favourite full-length sets of 2018. He's in great form once again on this follow-up EP for the 2000 Black imprint he co-helms with pal Dego. All four tracks bristle with his signature jazz-funk focused synthesizer solos and Herbie Hancock style flourishes, as well as plenty of sweaty, floor-friendly broken beats. Killer dancefloor thrills come in the shape of opener "Freddie Can't Run Away" (it's very reminiscent of his 2000s work as Agent K) and "Is Crimbo Really Here", while "But You Bring It Up" and standout "In My Life" both explore slower, deeper and more musically intricate pastures.

I See What You See (5:38)

We All Breathe The Same Air (5:22)
Review: The word virtuoso is thrown around like a rag in a laundry these days but Kaidi is definitely deserving of this title. A mind-blowingly talented multi-instrumentalist who was one of the clearest voices and driving forces in broken beat, Kaidi's skills remain just as slick, smooth and crafted with the fine art of surprise as ever as he follows up his "Changing Times" EP on First Word. "Hard Times" eases us in gently with a smooth jazz funk swoon laced with big orchestral sweeps, "I See What You See" ups the tempo with a superb steppy boogie twist that's loaded with some outrageous p-funk bass fills while "Super Lion" flexes around an afrobeat with full eyes (and feet) on the floor. Finally "We All Breathe The Same Air" closes with big dreamy drama that leaves you hanging for more... Just like all good virtuosos should.

The Extrovert City (6:12)
Mister Seahorse (5:01)
The Shadow Ain't Going Nowhere (5:10)
Review: Kaidi Tatham's busted beats and jazzy house licks have been favourites of ours for donkey's years. The man released a heap of material alongside the mighty Dego back in the early 2000's, and he's still putting out some utter fire in this day and age. Back on Dego's on 2000Black, Kaidi storms though with the bubbly acoustics and jazzy beats of "The Extrovert City", a tune that would have gone down like a nuclear bomb back at the mythical Dingwall's in Camden. "Mister Seahorse" is something else entirely; a tune with a slow, laid-back pace, stoned-out bass tones, and some of that classic Kaidi jazz magic that we adore. A monumental EP, and one which'll surely be a favourite among the Sound Signature fanatics. Recommended.

Two Tens Madam (6:42)
The Moons Falling (5:24)
Not A Thinkage Of Links (4:36)
Review: Freedom School's DJ Series of dancefloor-minded 12" singles has previously showcased material from Eric Lau Commissioner and Rick Wilhite. This time round, killer keys-man Kaidi Tatham is at the controls. The legendary West London producer begins in confident mood, lacing his usual jazz-funk keys over a rock-solid electronic bassline, fluttering synths and head-nodding hip-hop beats on "Two Tens Madam". The hazy, laid-back jazz-funk feel is amplified on "The Moons Falling", with Tatham delivering bouncy organ stabs, jazzy piano flourishes and winding synth lines. Arguably the strongest of the lot, though, is closer "Not A Thinkage Of Links", which sits somewhere between bass-heavy Afro-house, Idjut Boys style dub disco, and Kyoto Jazz Massive-esque nu-jazz.

Review: First Word welcome an absolute musical legend to the fold: Kaidi Tatham has recorded and/or performed with some of the very best names in contemporary funk, soul and jazz from Amy Winehouse to Bugz In The Attic. Also running a fine in silky soothing solo sounds himself, this 20 minute extended player represents Kaidi at his most relaxed, introspective and subtly euphoric. Ranging from the lounge-licking organ-massaging opener "Treacle Manifestations" to the Innervisions-era Wonder fusion frenzy "Shims", this - like everything he's done - is work of pure art. Essential.

Review: After offering up EPs titled "Hard Times" and "Changing Times" in 2017, Kaidi Tatham returns to First Word to complete the trilogy with "Serious Times". Of course, the music contained within the EP's tightly packed grooves is as joyous, rich as intricate as ever. Check, for example, "Don't Cry Now", a samba-soaked, sun-kissed affair that wraps harmonic freestyle vocals, twinkling electric piano lines and darting jazz-funk bass around a seriously shuffling groove. Tatham's much-discussed jazz-funk influences are once again given an airing on "Sugar", while his fine piano work takes pride of place on instrumental hip-hop head-nodder "Zallom". Best of all, though, is opener "Cost of Living", which emphatically weaves together all of these strands and more besides.

Kaidi Tatham back on 2000BLACK needs little explanation really, does it? Anyone who takes broken beat and neo soul seriously should already be slipping this on in their cart, but for the uninitiated this is one of the grandmasters of the sound in full flight. 'Galaxy' is a beautiful, uplifting soul-boogie jam with a stunning vocal turn from Lola Violet, and it comes in two different twists depending on the energy you need to bring to your set - for us the 'Uptempo Mix' is a perfect shot of joy in the arm. 'A Message From Above' cools things down with gorgeous keys, a characteristically snagging beat and sultry horns, and 'Ergonomic Structures' slinks into the sweetest of downtempo funks that'll have you head nodding hard and keeping you chill all in the same beat.

Movement (Kaidi Tatham remix) (6:03)
Review: 12 Senses has been described by Kaidi Tatham as a, "love project". It grew organically out of the West London legend's now annual appearances at the Copenhagen jazz festival alongside friend Peter Stenbaek and some of Denmark's most talented jazz musicians. Here he's gathered the clan for a debut EP rippling with rich musicality and sun-kissed positivity. Opener "Touch" brilliantly joins the dots between warm and loved-up jazz-funk and Tatham's broken beat roots, while life is a bolder and more spacey take on early '80s jazz-funk that sounds like Bugz In The Attic covering classic Herbie Hancock. Turn to the flipside for the slow, fluid and leisurely vibes of "Movement", which is then given a jazz-funk-fired instrumental hip-hop revision by Tatham himself.

Review: For the first missive on their limited-edition, vinyl only offshoot, the Eureka! label has secured two secret weapons from broken beat mainstay, future jazz-funk hero and all-round don Kaidi Tatham. He's in typically fluid form on A-side 'There's Something in the Water', a loose and languid chunk of immersive bruk-up warmth full of sci-fi synth sounds, liquid electric piano solos, rubbery bass guitar, crispy drums and classic-sounding flute solos. 'Coffee Time (Kaidi Tatham Remix)' is a vintage rework from the vaults whose distinctive rhythm includes vocal samples, crunchy snares and jazzy cymbals. Throw in his usual fine instrumentation and you have another luscious broken beat gem.

Review: First Word Records thrill us with a brand new album from present-day jazz legend Kaidi Tatham. Miles Away marks his sixth solo full-length for the award-winning London label, with ten fresh tracks all performed by the multi-instrumentalist himself. This is a masterclass in forward-thinking, genre-blurring electronic jazz; Rhodes keys, pianos, synths, strings, horns, and flutes flow floridly over roomy percussion and drum intricacies, representing Kaidi's unmistakable sound. From the smooth funk of 'Misty Garden' to the infectious 'Sweet Cherry Punch', the album redshifts a kaleidoscope of styles: bruk, boogie, soul, and even reggae-steppers on the closing 'Ku Deh'.

Since then, he has of course gone on to greater critical and commercial success, but as this timely reissue proves, "In Search of Home" still hits home hard. Like much of his work, it deftly showcases his Herbie Hancock-like jazz and jazz-funk keyboard skills within tracks that variously join the dots between broken beat, hip-hop, deep house, Latin fusion and sumptuous slow jams. Colourful, rich, jazzy and impeccably performed throughout, the album remains one of the high points of Tatham's career and is well worth adding to your collection.

Review: In our eyes, Kaidi Tatham can do no wrong. The long-serving keyboardist barely seems to sleep and releases a high volume of collaborations and solo records, but his quality threshold is so high that there's barely a duff track in his catalogue. Over the last few years he's developed a trademark sound that wraps Herbie Hancock style jazz-funk keys around crunchy broken beats, while also drawing influence from hip-hop, '80s electro, boogie, Latin jazz and slick deep house. An Insight Into All Minds, the veteran musician's fifth solo album, is naturally rooted in this trademark style, offering up a collection of cuts that bristle with positivity, pack plenty of punch, and are as well produced and life-affirming as you'd expect. It's a high bar, but it could well be his single best LP to date.

Further confirmation of this elevated status can be found throughout "It's A World Before You", a staggeringly good album that marks the musician-producer's first solo set for some seven years. While rooted in the kind of warm, rich and life-affirming jazz-funk-fuelled broken beat workouts with which Tatham is most readily associated (and they're naturally superb), there's plenty of killer diversions dotted throughout. These include a couple of spacey, soul-flecked ambient rubs, a sublime collaboration with hip-hop/modern soul fusionists Children of Zeus, and a fine head-nodding hip-hop jam featuring rapper Uhmeer. Patrick Forge, the much missed Domu, Dego and Rainer Truby are amongst the dozen names in the series so far and another legend of the West London scene now joins them in the shape of Kaidi Taitham. An integral part of the London Broken beat scene with a more than slightly overwhelming Discogs to show for it, Taitham uses the invitation from ESP as an opportunity to showcase his finest funk selections, taking in cuts from Quincy Jones, Esther Phillips, Ramsey Lewis Trio and more before ending on a double dose of vintage Dilla. Review: Broken beat hero Kaidi Tatham steps forth with the first in a series of all-star remix albums of the Reel People Music back catalogue. Percies include the sweeter-than-molasses opening flip of Sebb Junior's 'All My Life', his sassy, stripped-back version of Daz-I-Kue and Hadiya George's 'Pedigree' and a dazzlingly technical re-run of the Monkey Brothers' 'Losin my Head.' With this anthology, Tatham proves that London's broken beat scene continues to flourish, and his boundary-hopping style is as relevant as ever.
