Review: One look at who's involved here should raise any drum and bass head's eyebrows. All genre A-listers, it's one of those release schedule entries that's guaranteed to get everyone excited, and thankfully the pudding is just as tasty as those ingredients. Break & Kyo lead the charge with 'Past North', a summertime anthem-in-the-making opening on acoustic guitar chords that wouldn't sound weird on a Me One record. Definitely one for festivals, boxfresh percussion ensures it fully fires off once the poppier elements temporarily subside. That said, DJ Marky's 'Hard Hands' trumps it for crisp drum work, delivering some typically exotic vibes. Ill Truth and Satl's 'In Your Soul', or at least its Lenzman remix, keeps the sexy and smooth warmth alive, with '3 Way' closing out on a dub-influenced tip courtesy of Total Science and FD.

All national badmen, all remarkably forward thinking in their dynamics and uncompromised weight, label boss and Finnish jungle OG Fanu takes the lead with a smoky, slower jazzy cut "Aura Eleven", newcomer HMR keeps the spacious mood going with "Prophecy" where more tidal wave breaks are soften by smoky horns and sci-fi soul. Flip for the ruffage as the mysterious DDOG gets wild on the clattering breakbeats and Infader closes with the most militant track of the record "Marble Madness". What a celebration of homegrown talent. Let's hope this becomes a series.

Review: Four firing ragga jungle versions from French skank-shakers Psychodynamik. First up; Ed Solo adds some serious turbo juice to Freestylers & Stereotype's 2013 bubbler "The Coming Storm", Turnable Dubbers follow with a similarly satisfying twist on Protoje's "Who Knows", retaining the full vocal but adding a warm, rugged bass flow beneath. Deeper into the 12" we hit a dancehall-minded twist on Isaac Maya's "King Of Jungle" while Benny Page does what he does best on MCD's Ragga Twins-fronted "Alright". Jungle filth!

Review: Off the back of his remarkable second album, and a live show that features no laptops whatsoever, Icicle sits back and let's his equally talented peers do the hard work... Phace's remix of Icy's 2011 roller homage "Dreadnaught" has been discussed in hushed tones for years now, and the neuro don hasn't disappointed. Joe Ford turns into a suitably metallic, slippery twist on "Neutralize" while Dutch demons BSE give "The Edge" such a filth-over you need a hazmat suit to mix it. Finally Ulterior Motive get mucky on the already breath-taking vocal roller "Will You Be Mine". Four on-point remixes of an artist who can do no wrong right now. Essential.

Review: The much-acclaimed Shuriken series might as well be the current pinnacle of drum n' bass V/A releasing - and it's all thanks to the experts over at Shogun Audio, who have their fingers in all the pies. Save for the B4, this ninth addition to the series is by and large a release for the drum n' bass establishment; Commix, Icicle and DBridge all feature, the first of whom gets a special unreleased remix from the late legend Marcus Intalex. Generally, and as ever with Shuriken, the bucking of sonic trends is a cornerstone. Icicle's 'Arrows' trumps all in our view, with its screeching prehistoric sound design and glacial feel.

Review: Icy's Entropy imprint hits its second outing and he's brought along his equally talented and uncompromising cousin Proxima for the ride. "Outer Planes" (with ex Pendulum MC Ben Verse) kickstarts the adventure with grainy, scratchy bass while Icy goes solo for "Dust Me Off" with a lolloping, technoid hypnosis jam and Proxima gets squelchy and savage on "Retrace". "Deep Dreaming" maintains balance with a final colab between the two... And it does so with serious wind tunnel harmonic drama. Feel the burn.
