Review: Brownswood Recordings is back with Future Bubblers 8.0, the eighth volume of their influential annual compilation the highlights fresh talents as part of Gilles Peterson's network with support by Arts Council England and PRS Foundation. This new volume continues to spotlight unsigned talent and grow the audience for experimental music by helping emerging artists build sustainable careers by sharing revenue directly. Past artists include Yazmin Lacey, KinKai, and Lynda Dawn who have gone on to make their own mark and now this new vinyl features six tracks blending r&b, soul, funk, rap and electronic influences into all new sound worlds.

Review: Portishead's limited edition 10" vinyl release showcases live renditions of 'Sour Times' and 'Roads', capturing the band's signature trip-hop essence. Recorded in 1998 at The Warfield in San Francisco and Norway's Quart Festival, the tracks highlight Beth Gibbons' haunting vocals and the group's atmospheric instrumentation. The minimalist red sleeve with debossed cover adds a tactile dimension, making it a must-have for collectors and fans seeking a tangible connection to Portishead's live artistry.

Review: Vibe is back with more versions of Portishead classics from the mysterious Portishedd moniker. This latest 7" is a green slab with 'Glory' and 'Roads'. The A-side, like the B-side, is a remix from Kero Uno and it brings a swaying Latin feel and broken beats to the classic original vocal which rings out with a pained soul next to the eerie synths. 'Roads' is then a more late night and deep sound with the uneasy vocal whispers unfurling over lurching beats and swooning string sounds. It's a fine rework that is brilliantly atmospheric.

Review: Pancratio's A Run of Streams delves into the "state of flux"-those moments when everything flows effortlessly. Blending downtempo, deep house and acid house elements, it's a raw, unfiltered expression of the artist's journey that encourages you to connect with your own moments of spontaneity. Review: Ultra-vintage reissued psych-pop from Parsley Sound, whose self-titled debut for Mo Wax was one of the label's most prized releases, and yet ended up massively inflated in price due to early sellouts and low pressing numbers. The duo / band made up of Danny Sargassa and Preston Mead are deft emulators of full-band sonics, producing the illusion of a wider ensemble; Parsley Sounds followed the early EPs 'Ease Yourself And Glide' and 'Twilight Mushrooms', but was comparatively much softer on the ears, charming the listener with its herbal pan flutes, downtempo era string segments, and not-too-heavy 70s throwback haunto-pysch cult propulsions. Clearly an early influence of now colossal cognates of the sound like Caribou and Four Tet, Parsley Sounds is essential heads' listening for those who wish to lead a certain uncanny, chintzy still life, yet who also know something of the restless beauty of said life. A5er 'Ocean House' is the expansive ballad that proves this, finding a lo-fi yet cavernous vocal opportunity in an otherwise claustrophobic cranny of sound.

Review: Pacifico is the debut album from Italian-born, LA-based multi-instrumentalist Francesco Perini under the Pearz guise. It tracks a five-year sonic journey through Florence, London and Los Angeles and takes in all the sounds of those places so blends disco, electro, nu-jazz and Japanese City Pop into a rich, genre-spanning sound. True to its name (Pacifico means "peaceful" in Italian) the album captures the reflective calm of travel's end and has collaborations with artists like Kuntessa, VANBASTEN, Natalie Findlay, Jules Apollinaire and others bringing their own depth to the project. The result is a multicultural tapestry of sound that is full of warmth, groove and introspection.

Review: Initially released back in 2007 and now repressed for new audiences as well as enduring fans, Pitch Black's fourth album was possibly their best yet. Rude Mechanicals blends dance music and electronica with their signature mix of echoes, delays and deep basslines to brilliantly alluring effect. Kicking off with the lush 'South of the Line,' it progresses into tracks like the dub-heavy '1000 Mile Drift' and the high-energy 'Sonic Colonic.' 'Bird Soul' nods to Salmonella Dub's influence while 'Harmonia' delivers exquisite electronica. The title track features rapper KP addressing environmental destruction and things close with 'Please Leave Quietly'. Complex rhythms, warm bass and haunting melodies with sharp social commentary all make this a genre-busting bit of work.

Review: To celebrate its 30th anniversary, techno titan Richie Hawtin aka minimal pioneer Plastikman has remastered his influential second album Musik from the original tapes and pressed it up to limited edition bio-vinyl. It was first released in November 1994 via NovaMute and his own Plus 8 and was soon hailed as a masterclass in minimal techno, catapulting Hawtin toward the heights he still enjoys today. Prior to the full album release, the track 'Plastique' hinted at a more dancefloor-oriented sound while maintaining an unsettling edge that characterises much of the ensuing album's abstract and alien allure.

Review: Two of life's great escape artists, Polo & Pan, or Paul Armand-Delille and Alexandre Grynszpan, first bonded in the chronological hinterland of nightlife's operating hours, at the iconic Parisian nightclub, Le Baron. We weren't there, but in our minds they talked about quantum theories, and maybe came up with the phrase "everything everywhere all at once". But nobody can be sure. Apart from the artists. Since then, they've committed themselves to creating beautiful, weird, tropical house-synth-pop-electronica stuff which they say transcends moments and places, people and cultures. 22:22 is their triumphant return after four years without a full length, and it's every bit as good as fans were hoping for. Dive in, the water is lovely - wherever in the time-space continuum it is.

Review: Swiss DJ Princess P presents a new selector's compilation and journey, spanning over a decade's worth of rare lo-fi, post-rocky and indietronic builds, all awash with the blanket buzzes of tape and saturation. Sporting liner notes from Optimo's JD Twitch, this is a wonderfully rare case of a properly yet individually released mix album. The music spans West Coast US dance music, industrial, and kitsch pop effusions from 1980 to the present, sporting a wide array of "file under" tags including rave, retro, space rock, cosmic, introspective, minimal, acid, ambient, and transcendental (to name only a few essential keywords). The full gamut of dreaminess is laid down here, peaking at the Natalie Beridze lo-fi breaks cut 'Forever Has No Shadow'.

Review: Melbourne's Pugilist, known for the compelling 'Negative Space' EP, teams up with fellow Australian artist Pod for Iridescent, their debut collaboration on Of Paradise. Across nine meticulously crafted tracks, the duo embarks on an exploration of contemporary dance music. This isn't just a collection of tunes; it's a shifting soundscape, rich with textures and unpredictable in form. From cavernous dub basslines to ethereal atmospheres, Pugilist and Pod deliver a dynamic, genre-blurring journey. 'Haus' and 'Myriapoda' stand out, blending deep rhythms with intricate melodic detail, while moments of ambient serenity wash over, creating a truly immersive, genre-transcendent listening experience.
