Review: This album was recorded in 1979 at Sound Ideas Studio in New York City with some heavyweights of the time all involved. Cedar Walton was on piano, Curtis Fuller on trombone, Bob Berg on tenor saxophone, Sam Jones on bass and Billy Higgins on drums and between them they had a finely tuned jazz sound that brought to life six strong tracks, all composed by Cedar Walton bar their jazz interpretation of the classic standard 'Never Never Land.' The dynamic interplay between the musicians makes this a tight, impactful collection.

Review: Huge guitar solos, a not-so-subtle hint of seduction and romance, rousing choruses and an attitude that screams: "I'm gonna make that heavy metal hand signal every five or six minutes." Warrant may not be the first name on everyone's lips when it comes to the heyday big room, sexually charged glam metal, but when all is said and done they did pretty well during their seven years in the game.
Emerging from the Los Angeles scene of the mid-late-1980s, a city that has a lot to answer for in these musical ends, by the time they packed up their Fenders and called time more than 10million albums had been sold, with the double-platinum Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich the real gem of the lot. Dog Eat Dog came along a little later, in 1992, and by this point the group had really got into gear. Don't expect the same tangible hunger and impact as the inaugural effort, then, but in many ways this is far more complete example of what they were gunning for.

Review: American fusion group Weather Report were only active for just over 15 years but amassed a fine discography and assured their legacy in that time. Saxophonist Wayne Shorter is the most well-known of the band's members and after starting out as an experimental and free improvising outfit they eventually got more funky and edgy with hints of r&b creeping into their sound. The band always made use of the layettes synth technology and were one of the defining acts of the jazz era of their time as a result. Their eighth album, 1978's Mr Gone, is one of their most loved and ended up at Number 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums Chart.

Review: American jazz fusion outfits don't come much more venerated than Weather Report. Fronted by leader Joe Zawinul, the ensemble evolved subtly throughout their career and it was in 1974 that they dropped this album, Sweetnighter. It proved to be a little more funky and influenced by the emerging t&b of the day than its predecessors and it is also noted for being the last long player the band cut with original bassist Miroslav Vitous, as well as being the band's first album to make it into the Top 100 in the US charts of the day. It sodas as good now as ever on this nice heavyweight vinyl pressing.

Review: WHODINI's Open Sesame album is a perfect example of the best of 1980s hip-hop. It showcases the group's pioneering blend of catchy beats, slick rhymes, and infectious energy. Originally back released in 1987, the album features iconic tracks like 'Funky Beat' and 'Rock You Again (Again & Again).' With its innovative production and charismatic performances, 'Open Sesame' solidified WHODINI's status as one of the most influential groups in the genre. From start to finish, the album exudes a sense of excitement and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on hip-hop music which means it might sound of its time but it remains a classic and an essential listen for any fan of old-school rap.

Review: This is the sole album from soulful vocalist Bobby Wilson, and it was originally released in 1975. A vibrant mix of early 70s East Coast soul styles, the record blends upbeat tracks inspired by the burgeoning club scene with tender, heartfelt ballads all recorded across Detroit, Philadelphia and Miami. It was produced by Vernon Bullock with orchestration by Paul Riser and features the UK soul hit 'Deeper and Deeper' which fantastically captures the warmth and spirit of its era. Now reissued for the first time since 1975, this classic album debuts on coloured vinyl and is sure to appeal to soul heads from across the ages.

Review: Worlds Collide Tour is the sixth live album from Dutch symphonic metal legends Within Temptation, taken from their largest home-country show to date on November 29, 2022 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, marking the band's first time headlining the iconic venue. A co-headline tour with Evanescence, the run would be delayed four times due to COVID before finally taking flight across 2022, with the incomparable Amy Lee even joining Sharon den Adel for a powerhouse performance of 'The Reckoning' each night. Boasting a career-spanning catalogue up to and including 'Entertain You' taken from last year's latest full-length Bleed Out before the album had even been announced.
