Antonio - "We Sang We Laugh" (5:34)
Antonio - "Danca Danca" (6:15)
Pir - "Mighty Blue" (6:12)
Pir - "Glass" (5:10)
Review: Off Topic builds on its early momentum with a third outing if deep tech class from Antonio and Pir. Antonio get first with a cute vibe on 'We Sang We Laugh' which repeats the title's refrain over elastic and nimble drums. 'Danca Danca' its more heady with reverb-rich kicks and echoing vocals that bring a curious edge and then it is Per who takes care of the flipside. 'Mighty Blue' layers a smoky jazz line over weighty house kicks and 'Glass' shuts down with more sample madness.

Ilija Rudman - "Dub 4 Love" (Secret Weapon mix) (5:59)
Review: This third volume of instrumentals continues the faultless Isle of Jura label's deep dive into dub versions and beyond. Side one takes in references from UK street soul and reggae and features two late-'80s tracks by Howard Hill with machine-led rhythms, rudeboy reggae skank and soulful pads. Protek's 'I Love to Dance With You' is a proto-house gem featured in a Jura Soundsystem mix and here it gets a loving re-edit by The Nightlark. Side B includes an instrumental-driven track with spacey FX from The Cool Notes' and Ilija Rudman's 'Dub 4 Love' which is a knowing nod to acid house's golden era.

MostWanted - "Juanas Addiction" (4:44)
Philipp Boss - "Lockdown Light" (6:57)
Car Crushers - "Fine" (feat Tabi) (6:10)
Review: The third release from this emerging Frankfurt label is a compact showcase of their boundary-pushing ethos, fusing a variety of styles into each track without ever feeling disjointed. Side-A kstarts off with Aurelien's 'Les Yeux', a hypnotic slice of 90s techno nostalgia. Trancey flourishes shimmer across a sturdy techno framework, giving it a futuristic yet warmly vintage feel i an addictive opener that immediately pulls you in. MostWanted's 'Juanas Addiction' follows with a raw, electro-clash inspired workout. Rough edges and a cleverly placed samples create a gritty, 80s-flavoured rush that feels spontaneous and alive. Side-B opens with Philipp Boss' 'Lockdown Light', a tight tech house roller that threads a wiry acid line through breezy house rhythms, maintaining a lightness despite its driving momentum. Closing things out, Car Crushers' 'Fine' (featuring Tabi) bursts with cheeky energy i a bouncy 90s club spirit laced with hints of Euro house fun. Tabi's vocals add just the right dash of playful charisma to seal the deal. This compilation is a strong statement of intent, proof that the label isn't afraid to stir genres together in creative, dancefloor-ready ways. Every track brings its own flavor, yet the cohesion across the release feels effortless and full of personality. An EP that is full of fun.

Review: Jackies Music Records celebrates a successful first year with a new special edition vinyl record, featuring five iconic numbers from the back catalogue. Retrospectively looking back, we're met with five still-fresh ones from their ambitious 2024, includeing handpicks from Todd Terry, Piem, CASSIMM, Angelo Ferreri, and DJ W!ld. Embodying the mood of mid-dance tension, at which point we're likely well into the mix and sweating our glands off (such paradoxes are not impossible), the best of this pick have got to be Terry's 'Heartbeat', a swarthily knocking groove complete with an angelic, cardiovascular vocal, and W!ld's lo-fi hip slip, 'Underdog', the lyrics on which we'll be spending at least a good week trying to decipher.

Review: Colkin from Raw Soul and Mauke Club sets the tone on this new FUTUR compilation, which has been curated by Benedikt Meger with a spherical acid house meditation. Peter Seiler's track, a standout from the reissue of his debut album Flying Frames, features Sheryl Hackett's soulful vocals and merges song structure with jazz improvisation. Eoism from Pulse Drift, Undersound, and Inch By Inch delivers low-swung electro flavours perfect for sunset vibes while the B-side opens with Voertuig of Tonal Oceans and Cobra Club who presents a seriously raw acid jam followed by an experimental, jazzy piece, reminiscent of the 90s downtempo era. 'Eoism' closes things with a floating, futuristic banger, going to make a well rounded (in more ways than one) and ultimately very useful piece of vinyl.

Review: Rhythm N Vibe treats us to four different and equally brilliant garage cuts here from four different and equally brilliant artists. Marc Cotterell opens up with the slinky and dusty drums of '96 Is Back' powered by a rasping bassline. Jason Ward then brings some fresh 90s sounds with a neon baseline and diva vocals on 'The Meaning' while J Erazo keeps it deep and paired back on the sublime 'The Pulse' which is a real late night warmer. Paul French then layers up nice fresh and bumping drum funk on his lovely number 'Jump' (unreleased dub). There is lots to love here on a very useful EP.

Review: It would be fair to say that Roy Davis Jr and Peven Everett's "Gabriel" (originally written "Gabrielle" on early pressings) has become a timeless dance music classic - a track that both soulful house and UK garage DJs reach for in times of trouble. Should it not be in your collection already (and it should be), Large Music has decided to re-master and re-press the original 1996 12". It does, of course, contain the now ubiquitous "Live Garage" version - the groovy two-step, trumpet-laden mix that became popular with early UK garage DJs - plus a trio of lesser-known remixes. The Tambourine Dub, in particular, is something of a tough, warehouse-friendly deep house treat.

Pinto - "Watercolors" (7:05)
Review: The Spas label is only three releases deep but has already stood itself out in the world of minimal and tech. This latest various artist real is another doozy with classy oozing from each beat. Direkt opens up with the speedy and silky tech briskness of 'Hubble' and VincentIulian's 'Brokenh' then gets a little more trippy with a broken beat pattern and woozy chords adding some late-night seduction. Alvaro Medina's 'St1' is a glistening mix of knife-sharpening hi-hats and succulent drum loops run through with some suspensory pads that keep on rising. Pinto's 'Watercolors' is one that locks you into its smooth, frictionless loops where bubbling synth motifs, distant vocal sounds and liquid chords all subsume you.

Review: House Cookin''s series House Cookin' Wax serves up a sixth delicious collection of trad house sounds here, all from a range of fresh names. DJ Merci's 'Just A Groove' is perfect 90s revivalism with golden, soft focus chords and nice woody beats and hits. Bruno Bar's 'A House Of Music' layers in some pensive spoken words to a nice chord-driven groove that is deep but dynamic. Pat Lezizmo continues on this same deliciously deep tip with more analogue excellence on 'Not In A Hurry', all with a nice dub underbelly, then Reagan Mian's 'Caracole' closes out with a little more bump and grind

Spanning everything from firmly driven nu-disco to scratch n' sniff garage house to Chi-style stompers, we're more than enthralled by this well-rounded resonator. The best of the bunch has to be Demuir's 'Vibez High', which moves unabashed and stringy, its clawing claps, freeze-locked funk licks and scraping open hats painting a vivid street scene set outside the house.

It kicks off with 'Congalizer,' a high-energy track driven by a frantic guitar line and dancefloor-ready loops from The Funk District which create an irresistible vibe. Review: 'Suite For Chick' is a heartfelt tribute to the late jazz legend Chick Corea. This 12" was assembled to reimagine classics like 'City Gate, Rumble,' 'Time Track,' 'Hymn of the Heart' and Return to Forever's 'Romantic Warrior.' It finds Bangkok-based Maarten Goetheer collaborating with Thailand's jazz virtuoso Pong Nakornchai and blending Wurlitzer chords, Moog basslines, ARP leads and Rhodes phasings. Inspired by his jazz-pianist father, Maarten fuses classic jazz with modern genres like techno, cosmic disco and ambient for a fresh take on jazz fusion. These electrifying interpretations honour Corea's pioneering legacy in jazz and fusion from his groundbreaking work with Miles Davis to founding Return to Forever.

Review: There is a distinctly old school feel to the dark moods of this new deep house outing on Fruit Merchant from Hidden Spheres and Private Joy. 'Hold On Me' takes you back to the days of Adonis, Hercules and Tax Records with it intense emotion, humid atmospheres and menacing bassline. The drums are raw and jacking but the vocal brings a vital soulful and human edge. After that club mix comes the paired back instrumental, a deeper mix that smooths the edges and makes this more soft focus and cuddly. It's a gorgeous tune for loved-up floors.

Armand Van Helden & Mark Knight - "Down To Earth" (6:37)
Review: NEM 100.1 Vol 1 isn't your standard deep house compilation. With heavyweight contributors like Danny Howard, Nicole Moudaber, and Armand Van Helden, this release feels like a meeting of minds with a shared purpose: to push familiar boundaries into unexpected places. Danny Howard and Eli & Fur's If You Were sets the tone with a blend of understated house rhythms and finely layered vocals. There's nothing overblown here - it's precise, refined, and confident in its restraint. PAX and Rui Da Silva's Touch Me follows, reviving the iconic anthem with modern production sensibilities. The track is driven by its deep, chugging bassline and stabs of melody that feel like a nod to the original, but also refreshing in their approach. Nicole Moudaber brings a more atmospheric element to the fold with Rise Up, featuring the London Community Gospel Choir. It's expansive, combining gospel depth with Moudaber's signature techno edge, resulting in a track that demands attention without feeling heavy-handed. Closing things out is Armand Van Helden and Mark Knight's Down to Earthia production that melds classic house tropes with a contemporary spin. Its punchy, syncopated rhythm and laid-back groove avoid the typical tropes, instead offering something warm, slightly off-kilter, and entirely captivating. This is a collection that doesn't fall into the trap of overused house formulasiit's bold without overstating, intricate without being pretentious. A strong reminder that these artists still have a few tricks up their sleeves.

On the A-side, Human Aventura, making his second vinyl appearance, delivers the raw, jacked house of 'Local Warming' while Corsican producer P.O brings some wiry, twitchy tech house. Review: Intrallazzi and Dario Piana have been friends and Milanese scene contemporaries since 1981, when they both fell in love with the distinctive Afro-Cosmic sound of local DJ (and later Piana collaborator) Daniel Baldelli. Since then, they have both made records aplenty under a variety of aliases, but this EP on Leng marks their first joint release. The headline attraction is opener (and lead cut) 'Out of Control', a dubbed-out cosmic disco chugger propelled by echo-laden percussion and a deep, low-slung bassline, smothered in psychedelic synth and guitar sounds. Fellow Italian producer LTJ Experience remixes, offering up a stripped-back and acid-flecked interpretation. Elsewhere, 'Lazise' is a TB-303-sporting cosmic shuffler and 'Saocraffen' is a Baldelli-influenced fusion of Afro-cosmic funk and ethereal Balearic sounds.

It has everything that made the genre great from the start - the deep, pulsing drums, the melodic bassline, the lush synth strings, and most importantly meaningful vocals with a social conscience. We shall nerve tire of hearing it so we are happy it gets rereleased here as part of a new 12" on DJ International that pairs it with an equally emotionally enthralling and impact early house cut, namely 'It's All Right (House mix)' which also has epic synth strings, a heart aching falsetto and chord vamps you hope never end. With each original artist and track title on the record respectively lent a three-letter and N-letter abbreviation, we'll leave it to you to piece together the puzzle as regards to whose source material is being reworked here. On this occasion, the hired hands are Massimo Voci, M.B. Funk, Wandevogel and Legowelt, each of whose takes on the various steam-downs and sweat lodgings of the genius genre that is Italo amount to four farther, slammingly sexual condensations of the sound. Our fave has to be Vandevogel's version of 'PRNDLCS', which starts out dramatically downcast before launching into a well-placed implantation of baritone sax and *bonne brisse* vocals.

Review: Sometimes, the right track just lands in your lap. That's exactly what happened with Mamacita's 'Tu Amor', a Chilean cover of Jamie Principle & Frankie Knuckles' 'Your Love'. Originally released in 2012, it started making waves after being played in sets by the Idjut Boys, catching the attention of DJ Steve KIW, who passed it on to Mr Bongo. It quickly became a favorite. While playing in Barcelona, Luke Una dropped the track in his set, and it instantly clicked with him. The track's raw, DIY vibe, paired with its quirky arrangement, made it a perfect fit for E Soul Cultura, and now it's getting its first vinyl release. The song was created by Chilean DJ Mamacita (Carolina Vallejos) and producer Persona RS (Sebastian Roman) on lo-fi equipment, channeling a DIY energy that recalls early Chicago house. It became a hit in Chile's underground scene, though it didn't receive much attention outside of Latin America and the US. For this release, Luke Una and Luke Solomon re-edited it, extending the track and emphasising its wonky synths, while still keeping that unique cosmic feel. Both the original and the re-edit are included in this vinyl release, bringing new life to a previously overlooked gem.

Review: Visions returns with another sharp collection of future-facing house, opening with a luxuriant, mid-tempo glide from Sean McCabe. A long-time figure in Bristol's soulful house scene, McCabe is known for his richly textured arrangementsiand this one, built on warm keys and featherlight percussion, leaves plenty of air in the mix. 'Rawai' from Alex & Stephan Attias moves in deeper, with Sohan Wilson's Rhodes work lending a dusty, meditative energy that simmers beneath the surface. The Attias brothers, both key players in Geneva's jazz-not-jazz underground, remain fluent in groove and restraint alike. Patrice Scott, a cornerstone of Detroit's second wave, brings both heft and elegance with 'Movements', arguably his most hypnotic production in recent memoryislow to unfold but rich with detail. Finally, Eva May debuts on the label with 'Test One', a slinky, electro-leaning cut bristling with sinewy funk. Based in Paris and new to production after years of DJing across Europe, she keeps things stripped-back and sharp, with a promise of more to come.

Review: Two Balearic musicians with no relation beyond chemistry, Kiko Navarro and Pere Navarro debut as a duo with three tracks that stitch together house and jazz with an intuitive ease. Kiko's Mallorca-honed sense of deep, groove-led house is given new colour by Pere's nimble trumpet work, rooted in his training and practice across Ibiza's jazz and club scenes. 'Byrd's Groove' opens with dusty swing, its crisp drum programming softened by Pere's sunny phrasing and melodic asides. 'Keepn On Loving Me' is the standout, built on a chunky low-end and looped vocal that moves like classic New Jersey house, with trumpet lines that smoulder and lift. 'Blown Flow' closes on a dubbier, more headsy tip i less peak-time, more sunrise session i giving a stylish finish to an impressively coherent first outing.

Peter LC - "We Were Alright" (5:28)
Habibi Grooves - "Groovebox Grooves" (5:12)
Review: Small Great Things' ninth release continues its dedication to deep, soulful house with a richly curated compilation, highlighting standout moments from a variety of talent. Luca Olivotto opens with 'Let Me Go', a track layered with emotion, where delicate piano chords and a steady groove intertwine, setting the stage for what follows. His ability to blend sentiment with danceable structure is unmistakable, making it an elegant opener. Next is Quadrakey's 'Do It Right', which is as smooth as it is groove-laden. Tight percussion and a gently insistent bassline keep the energy high without ever overstepping. It's a track that works in both intimate settings and larger roomsicrafted with precision but delivered with ease. On the flip side, Nephews offer 'Between Your Soul', a deep vocal cut that showcases their knack for texture and atmosphere. Warm pads and driving basslines anchor the soulful vocals, creating a rich, immersive experience. Peter LC's 'We Were Alright' brings a heartfelt touch, with smooth chords and poignant vocals that hit in all the right places, leading to a subtle but powerful impact. Habibi Groove closes the collection with 'Groove Box Grooves', the rhythm driving home the essence of this release. A masterclass in restraint, it's a track that speaks to the compilation's overarching cohesion, leaving a lasting impression.

1973 (7" mix) (4:58)
Review: REPRESS ALERT!: New York has long had a rich deep house history and now adding to that is new label PS7 which opens up with a pair of delightfully dusty cuts from P-Sol. This tidy 7" kicks off with 'Get Ta Steppin' (7" mix) which is a low-key and delightfully downtempo cut with organic claps and noodling jazz keys all coated in warming vibes, playful melodies and muttered vocals. On the flip, '1973' (7" mix) is another low-slung gem with layers of lo-fi sound and sunny keys rising up through the mix. Both of these are heartwarming soul sounds for good times only.

Review: P3RF3CT STRANG3RS is a dynamic collaboration between Mexican artist Paurro and New York City vocalist Steven Klavier. Their new track for the red-hot Toucan Sounds is 'Run Away!' and it mixes up slamming drums with chopped-up vocals and high-energy grooves that draw inspiration from iconic club divas. The original comes with a Midland Flow State remix that is bass-heavy and lively, and then comes the second original 'Against' which is slower and more percussive with a tribal twist. This one comes with a remix from Tata Sumo & Lakuti who layer in more colourful synths, swirling dub undercurrents and a sense of soul while paying homage to the golden era of house music.

Heavenchord - "Grisha (Soe)" (4:22)
Review: After a near two-year break, the shadowy CUE Point label - an imprint based in Valencia, Spain - returns to stores. To reintroduce itself, the imprint has decided to offer-up a multi-artist EP featuring cuts from new signings, old heads and friends of the label. Pad Union kicks things off with the deep, dusty and gently jazzy 'Holodnaya Para' - all rich Rhodes chords, languid bass guitar and crunchy drum machine beats - before storied producer ScruScru joins forces with Guydee on the acid-fired, funk bass-propelled house bounce of 'Nesting Down'. Over on side T, Negroove's ghostly, slipped tech-house jam 'Smoked Jazz' (a track blessed with Villalobos-influenced percussion programming) is paired with EP highlight 'Grisha (Soe)', a chunky and organ-rich slab of peak-time tech-house by label regular Heavenchord.

Review: Ravanelli Disco Club has assembled a selection of remixes of Palavas and this first instalment of them comes from the likes of deep house master Jimspter, disco king DJ Rocca and the melodious Musumeci. It is the Freerange boss Jimpster who goes first with his version of 'One Night Is Not Enough', a lithe and soul drenched sound with horns, chords and vocals that all melt the heart. Musumeci brings a more direct and soulful techno sound, and the DJ Rocca remix is a sparkly one full of cosmic energy. 'Chevauchee Fantastique' (JKriv remix) brings some classic string-laced Philly sounds and Dicky Trisco shuts down with Metro Area style nu-disco.

Review: "Are You in Heaven?" Is a phrase immortalised by Roxy DJ Eddy de Clercq during one of Amsterdam's earliest house parties and it captures the spirit of what was a transformative era. Arnoud Winkler and Jochem Peteri (later known as Newworldaquarium) dropped this EP back in 1991, and it explored a then-new mix of euphoric energy with youthful, clever charm. Drawing inspiration from the booming European dance scene of the time, it's a passionate Dutch interpretation of American house music that very much stands up. Featuring blissed-out pads, dub textures and peak-time vibes, the reissue includes a new Gerd Janson edit of 'Ulysses Horizon' that brings it right up to date, plus the dreamy melodies of 'Flowerdale Beach' and the title track, and all three are timeless cuts that still radiate magic and meaning.

Review: Ukrainian selector and producer Lola Palmer makes her first appearance on Get-Traum with a blend of groovy, vestibular, and deep sonorities, blending the very best of lo-fi and progressive house motifs to produce a slickly recalled dream. Backed up by a filtrating titration of flicky acid funk by Alci, the bulk of the EP can be best qualified as a lurch through liminal space. Best in this category is 'Be Sure', a warming buildup not to be belied, if only for its creep-up pads and automatic, deep-mind, reflexive bass lines.

Review: The exceptionally named Panty Soaker Sound System bursts onto the scene here with a powerful debut EP on their own self-titled label. 'Hormones' marks the inaugural outing and is a track that ignites the floor while exploring self-empowerment and inner desires. It has picked up early praise from Honey Dijon and is a full-throttle and steamy, erotic house sound that is sure to become a bit of a winter anthem. The EP includes three acid-infused original mixes, followed by the Prosumer HorMoans Remix which is a dark stomper with prickly 303 lines and a heavy groove. For those craving a harder vibe, the LUXE Dark Room Remix delivers a broken-beat reimagining with high-energy that takes you to new heights.

It's a knowing mix of golden era house and progressive influences with a contemporary twist from the back-to-the-wall prog-trance-techno of 'Three Of Hearts' to the unrelenting machine drum sounds of 'Hyperdrive'. With the A-side totally taken up by 'Keep Rocking' in two versions, we've a modish street style version in 'Casa Nova' form and a 'Hip House' breakbeat rendition. Then come the underside dread ones: 'Fearsome' tilts in the direction of ever more raviness with tuned, sandstorming stabs and gated voxes, while 'All Night' takes a dash of speed garage to the mishmash, air-raid sirens sounding through held chords all around.

Review: Paperkraft displays a careful ear for dance stylistic fusion on their latest four-treacker 'Elfi Delight', fusing the contemporary taste for tech-funk with the rawer, more classic sounds of rave, German hardcore and acid. The Osaka-based producer builds on much behind-the-decks experience in Europe; the EP's multifaceted wax visage testifies this width of experience, with Paperkraft fronting a different sonic character depending on where the needle lands. Best among the bunch in our opinion is 'Elfin Delight', with its offhand, open hi-hat knacks and delicious high-reg organ usage, though the EP's post-breakdance, part-hardcore whooper '33 Ways To Do It' is also a favourite of ours.

Side-1 kicks off with the Extended Radio Version, a nostalgic, high-energy euro house anthem that still captures the magic of its 1996 chart-topping success. The 2Fabiola Ibiza Remix follows with a trance-infused twist, adding a deeper, more euphoric vibe while retaining the track's catchy core. On Side-2, the Discoteca Drums Mix brings a tribal, percussion-heavy focus, creating a more rhythmic, dancefloor-driven version. Finally, the Ritmo El Mas Locomix delivers a melodic remix, injecting a smooth, hypnotic energy into the track. Each remix brings its own unique flavor, making this trip down memory lane a great one.

Review: Spencer Parker delivers a masterclass in unadulterated house, stripping back the excess to focus on raw, direct energy. The opening track pushes forward with a tight rhythm section, a pulsing bassline, and crisp percussion, all working in seamless sync to create a groove that demands attention without overcomplicating things. The vocal sample on 'You're A Cool Girl' is looped into a hypnotic motif, evoking a sense of urgency and repetition that doesn't wear thin. Later, the mood shifts with a darker, more industrial tone, where staccato beats and metallic edges add an intensity that builds steadily. There's no fluff here, just focused, dancefloor-ready rhythms that get straight to the point.

This time, the track is reborn as a full vocal version, with Tee Amara providing heartfelt and soulful vocals in both English and Spanish versions, adding emotional depth. If you love your house raw and deep with an intensely driving organ, hi hat and the call and response of pumped up choir and preacher, be transported by this next level house track, his first release in eight years! Each track a joy, the soulful and destined for dance floor greatness 'Tonight We Love' provides an array of brass and bassline that breaks and builds with percussive claps and syncopated cymbals united in weavings of voices and instruments. Then, the gorgeous 'I Love You (More Than You Know)' brings an endearing vocal over a driving and deliciously relentless techno back beat and organ refrain that winds up and down throughout. Enjoy too the instrumental version of A1, harder, deeper and more analogue in feel. Spoiling us, this EP on Parker's Intangible label, illustrates the infectiousness that deep house produces when in exceptionally loving hands. A total must for all who love house and beyond...

Review: Second time around for Terrence Parker's 'Real Love' EP, a gorgeous chunk of tunr-of-the-90s style deep house that the Detroit great first released on his Intangible label in late 2017. We get full and instrumental takes on two decidedly different variations. On the A-side you'll find the 'Slave Key' mixes, where tight, early 90s style synth stabs, dreamy chords and eyes-closed vocal snippets dance atop a chunky bassline and typically tough house drums. Over on the flip, it's all about the 'Piano Parkside' versions, a pair of brighter and more life-affirming takes in which piano stabs and solos ride a chunkier house groove and weightier bassline. All four versions sound like Parker probably recorded them early in his lengthy career, though whether he did or not remains a mystery.
