Conceptual - "Selva Oscura" (4:31)
Orbe - "Thorax" (5:00)
Sciahri - "No Fear" (5:08)
Farceb - "Dex31" (5:02)
Dario Duegra - "Noir" (5:03)
Uun - "Out Of Time" (4:49)
Review: If you like your techno murky and subterranean then Node has got another doozy of a 12" for you. It is a six track various artists EP that comes on silver marbled vinyl and opens with the sleazy underworld sounds of 'Selva Oscura' from Conceptual. Orbe's 'Thorax' then goes down a deep, dark late night techno tunnel in mind melting fashion and Sciahri's deft loops on 'No Fear' leave you feeling utterly in the moment. The hypnosis continues on the flip with darker drum rumbles from Farceb, constant suspense from 'Dario Duegra' and magnificently weighty minimalism from Uun.

Clergy 10 Years
Cat: CRGX 4. Rel: 15 May 25
Norbak - "Sinto" (5:40)
Hemka - "The Dust" (5:09)
Sciahri - "Antartide" (5:36)
Sera J - "Conciso" (4:54)
Phara - "Faint" (5:39)
Measure Divide - "Green" (4/10 remix - Cleric remix) (5:09)
Review: The Clergy Ten Year anniversary celebrations continue with a fourth special instalment of their various artists series. It's packed again with the sort of high-functioning techno that DJs always need to construct powerful sets, and that dancers will respond well to thanks to its detailing. Norbak opens with the moody minimalism of 'Sinto', Sciahri explore a more uptempo sound with grainy, gritty loops on 'Antartide' and Phara's 'Faint' gets more twisted with hellish effects and caustic textures all getting you on edge while the pummelling drums bounce out their muscular rhythm. These are evocative cuts for techno storytelling.

Corpora Part 1
Cat: SUB 201. Rel: 15 Apr 19
Nuel - "Intarsia" (5:12)
Sam KDC - "Skirmish" (7:49)
Sciahri - "Linfa" (6:26)
Review: Sublunar Records, the label run by Sciahri and Dagdrom, starts 2019 with his tenth re- lease. "Corpora" is a new trilogy project whose elements will see the light throughout the year. Part I involves Nuel, known for his collaboration with Donato Dozzy on the Aquaplano project and author of for two genre defining album on Further Records. His contribution "Intarsia" is a polyrhythmic mixture of ascending synth spirals where every element is tuned for maximum clarity and impact. Then Sam KDC, an integral part of ASC's cutting edge Auxiliary label and regular on Geoff Presha's Samurai and Samurai Horo, comes in with "Skirmish", a ritualistic experience where a memorable melodic figure is surrounded by delicate drum patterns. On the B side cofounder Sciahri releases all the tension with "Linfa", pushing his signature sound into heavy atmospheric disturbances where distorted grooves bounce among skittering bits of percussion.

No More Time (5:19)
Near The Bar (5:42)
Two Letters (5:30)
Hit & Run (5:30)
Review: There's a raw, no-nonsense energy running through this release from the Florence-based techno producer, who continues to sharpen his sound on his own Sublunar label. It's a record that doesn't bother with pleasantries and instead goes straight for the gut, full of tight programming and tension you can feel in your chest. The opener, 'No More Time', wastes none of it. Heavy rhythms hit like a warning shot, pushing things toward a peak that feels both forceful and controlled. It's big-room material, precise, aggressive and locked-in. 'Near The Bar' follows with a more shadowy approach, sliding into tribal patterns and murky textures. The groove works just beneath the surface, subtle but with a pulse strong enough to carry a floor. Side-B digs in even further. 'Two Letters' builds around percussive momentum and clipped patterns, keeping everything tightly wound. Then 'Hit & Run' lands with a different kind of pressure. There's a ghostly melodic thread running through its stripped-down warehouse rhythms, nodding to early underground techno but with a modern polish. It's lean, effective and full of character.

The Dream Is True
Mysterious Love
Mind
Emblema
Review: Ilian Tape continues to be code for "absolutely killing it mate" with the Zenker brothers introducing us and you to the production talents of Sciahri with the Mysterious Love 12". Spend some time with the sound clips here and you'll be hard pushed to believe this is Sciahriar Tavakoli's debut 12" as Sciahri, such is the standard of productions. Tavakoli's stated interest in the loop techno pioneered in 90s era Birmingham is very much evident on a cut like "The Dream Is True" but there's some nice little touches slipped in that give it some true personality such as the spin back in the breakdown. The title cut is a stern faced dubby number that just tunnels and tunnels away, whilst there's a cheeky strut to the way Tavakoli implements the filters on "Mind". The final track "Emblema" is the kind of techno number you want to drop right when everyone has forgotten their names.

Atonement (5:55)
Atonement (Pessimist remix) (5:47)
Enemy Sound (4:18)
Departure (4:44)
Review: Illian Tape was responsible for releasing Sciahri's debut EP a couple of years back, so it's fitting that he's returned following a brief flirtation with Black Opal. The Florence-based producer is in a feisty mood, too, as can be heard on sparkling opener "Atonement", which sounds like the mutant offspring of West London broken beat, Detroit futurism and abstract techno. Its' pleasing positivity is removed on the accompanying Pessimist Remix, which brilliantly turns it into a grouchy, moody, bass-heavy shuffler. Flip for the tantalizing creepiness of clandestine ambient shuffler "Enemy Sound", and the deeper, heads-down broken techno grooves of "Departure".

Vortex (5:08)
Roven (5:27)
Infatuation (5:17)
Glow (5:30)
Review: Florence-based Sciahri launches Sublunar once more for an excursion into psychotropic techno that keeps the energy up without forsaking delicacy. Even in its loopiest, thunderous peaks, there's a certain sensitivity of sound which keeps the sound energising and uplifting rather than oppressive. It's no wonder Sciahri has recently been spotted on the likes of Non Series and Semantica - labels which equally value the balance between power and poise in big room techno. There's space for synthetic drama on 'Infatuation' and 'Glow' strafes its de-saturated pulses across the stereo field for a hypnotic end result, but at all times the drums will keep you locked and limber like you'd expect from a proper techno record.

Hypnotism (5:39)
Plastic Rain (5:19)
Ava (5:02)
Dead Waves (5:57)
Review: Trauma Collective go out all guns blazing with a fierce offering by ascendant Italian producer Sciahriar Tavakoli aka Sciahri (Sublunar Records/Unknot). The Trauma EP is at once an obviously loyal tribute to the imprint platforming him, while being a visceral soundtrack to the gradual setting in of early morning lights. Wasting no time in exercising his sonic assault, opening cut 'Hypnotism' will affect you much like its name suggests on this punishing, splintered- beat body basher, before pummelling you into submission on the strobed-out warehouse techno epic 'Plastic Rain'. He then ventures into the more abrasive shades of texture and gradient on the experimentally minded 'Ava' until getting off-the-grid once more with a descent even deeper into the void, on the knackered closer 'Dead Waves'.

Eremite (7:04)
Ambiguity (5:33)
Sublunar (5:34)
Paranoia (5:59)
Review: There's something wonderfully deep and atmospheric about "Eremite", the opening track from Sciahri's first EP for Black Opal. Its' spacey chords and bubbling electronics sound gigantic, and work in perfect unison with his steppy, broken techno beats. There's more of an old school Italian techno feel to "Ambiguity" - think restless rhythms and wonky, acid-influenced electronics - while the Florence-based producer doffs a cap to the industrial-inclined fuzziness of the L.I.E.S and The Trilogy Tapes labels on the relentless "Sublunar". Finally, he draws all these strands together on brilliant closer "Paranoia", which sounds like it could induce a state of panic in certain circumstances (and that's just the bleep melodies).

Ritmo Oscuro 1 (6:11)

Ritmo Oscuro 2 (LDS remix) (4:13)
Ritmo Oscuro 3 (5:42)
Review: Hailing from Spain's Non Series label, Ritmo Oscuro' offers a diverse techno exploration. Sciahri / Conceptual join forces to delve deep into the title track and evolve it enough to make alternate versions stand on their own. The original track oozes sci-fi ambiance with its heavy beat and eerie atmosphere. 'Ritmo Oscuro 2' shifts towards a more aggressive, energy-building tech sound. LDS' remix brings broken beats and distinctive sound effects. Finally, 'Ritmo Oscuro 3' transports listeners to the 90s with its ravey, linear techno. If you are looking for some percussive, sci-fi techno then look no further then this.

Drifting (5:36)
Entropia (5:27)
Silent Pulse (5:43)
Review: 'Axis Mundi' is the latest offering from label head Sciahri and Hertz Collision and it follows on from their acclaimed collaboration on Clergy. For this one, the Italian duo returns with a textured, nuanced techno journey starting with the title track which opens with razor-sharp sounds and driving rhythms setting an electrifying tone. 'Drifting' follows and weaves hypnotic grooves and floating synths into a slick voyage. On the B-side, 'Entropia' introduces a mind-bending synth that launches the track into another realm, while 'Silent Pulse' closes the vinyl edition with minimalist elegance-a refined piece suited for any moment of the night.

Orbital Resonance (5:25)
Luna Echo (5:35)
Glowing (5:19)
Echoes Of The Void (5:29)
Echoes Of The Void (Kontain remix) (5:10)
Review: The Echoes Of The Void EP by Sciahri and Hertz Collision on the Clergy label delivers a potent collection of hard-hitting techno tracks. Side-1 starts with 'Orbital Resonance,' which channels the energy of early 2000s techno, reminiscent of the likes of Bryan Zentz, Danilo Vigorito and Hardcell, with its tribal and forceful vibe. 'Luna Echo' follows with relentless loops that maintain an aggressive edge. Flipping to Side-2, 'Glowing' taps into the deep, underground essence of techno, with a sound that feels as if it's emerging from the depths of a dark, subterranean world. The title track, 'Echoes Of The Void,' continues the journey with a powerful groove, while the Kontain remix amps up the intensity, offering a more driving and dynamic version. This EP is great for those who crave intense, finely crafted techno that resonates with both energy and complexity.

Species 2
Species 2 (clear vinyl 12" in die-cut sleeve)
Cat: 47041. Rel: 23 Jul 24
VSK - "HD1" (6:15)
Sciahri - "Divisione" (5:12)
Finalversion3 - "Genuflexion" (5:13)
Mystics - "Magnetism" (4:32)
Review: The 47 label is back with a new project, Species. It is a various artists series that looks to explore the deepest realms of techno with plenty of contemporary talents of the genre and always with a distinctive focus on the dance floor. VSK's 'HD1' kicks off with paranoid synths searching across the face of thudding kick drum patterns. Sciahri's 'Divisione' sounds like a factory floor in meltdown, and Finalversion3's 'Genuflexion' is a jostling, physical brew of restless kicks and squealing machine sounds. Mystics closes down with 'Magnetism', a more sparse and eerie but no less effective cut.
