Notes: Compact Analogue LFO & VCO

The 'Pip LFO' is a compact 4HP all analogue low frequency oscillator with a wide frequency range, voltage control, numerous outputs, reset input and a VCO mode.

LFO speed is set via a manual control and voltage control input. There is a unipolar square wave output along with both bipolar and uni-polar triangle, saw and sine waveform outputs.

When VCO mode is activated, the frequency jumps to audio range and will track V/Oct for approx 5 octaves. A reset input allows the LFO waveform cycle to be reset and produces hard sync functionality in VCO mode.

Filter cutoff is controlled via both knob control and dual CV inputs with a built in attenuverter.

Resonance is manually controlled and will reach into self oscillation with rough V/Oct tracking.

A trigger input allows the filter to be pinged for percussive plucked type sounds. Finally, a built in VCA (normalled open) allows for additional independent amplitude control of the filtered signal.

Review: Legendary London label and record shop Rough Trade is celebrating its formative years from 1978 to 1993 the only way it knows how - with music. Founded in 1977, Rough Trade has consistently championed innovative artists from Metal Urbain to its current roster including Amyl and The Sniffers, Pulp and Jockstrap, always capturing the DIY spirit and musical daring that have defined its legacy for over 45 years. This limited-edition 7" singles boxset was curated by co-MDs Jeannette Lee and Geoff Travis and feature some of their favourite singles from the label's early days, from reggae king Augustus Pablo - who launched the label - to Subway Sect, Stiff Little Fingers and on to Cabaret Voltaire. The collection is accompanied by new sleeve notes for added context and offers a personal reflection rather than a standard back-catalogue overview by highlighting hits, hidden gems and overlooked classics.

This device takes a standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. EQD always recommend pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies. Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through unwanted noise. DO NOT RUN AT HIGHER VOLTAGES!

Review: This has been described as Shelflife for Calibre's 120-140 material. If you know the means, methods and magic of Dominic Martin, you'll already have this in your basket. But in case you need a little extra info or new to the abyssal vaults of Calibre, the Shelflife series is a regular collection of projects and unreleased material he's made over the years. While best known for his d&b, his house, techno and dub material is just as prolific, deep and mesmerising. As is the case here as we range from steppy, curmudgeonly techno ('Front Loader') to funky electro style breaks ('The Saki') to bumping shufflesome house ('Ukrained') to vast spacious dub ('Come With Me') Complete with many other deep and reflective shades between, this is yet another fantastic body of work from one of electronic music's most unique and revered artists.

Notes: Module A-145 is a low frequency oscillator, which produces cyclical control voltages in a very wide range of frequencies.

Five waveforms are available: sawtooth, inverted sawtooth, triangle, sine and square wave. The LFO can be used as a modulation source for any number of modules - for instance modulating the pulse width or frequency of a VCO, modulation of the cut-off frequency of a VCF, or amplitude modulation with a VCA.
