Review: Bobby Donny's ongoing ACE series of vinyl releases has thus far delivered some genuine deep house treats. This is particularly true of the Dutch label's sporadic, compilation style EPs, which tend to showcase tracks previously released on digital-only EPs. There's plenty to set the pulse racing on EP number four, with highlights including two fine collaborations between label founder Frits Wentink and fellow Amsterdam scene stalwart Malin Genie (the sub-heavy peak-time bounce of 'Ambrosia' and the techno-tempo hypnotism of 'Exopaq'); the ultra-deep two-step house shuffle of 'Comet (Deep mix)' by ZZ Banks; the Italo-house influenced colour of Clovis Chilwell's 'Don't Let The Night End'; and the deep, hazy and dubbed-out brilliance of 'Slow Burn' by Rico Scott.

Review: This second instalment in the Spring Revisited seriesia collaboration between Acid Jazz and Ace Recordsioffers two expertly handled edits from across the Atlantic rooted in the fertile legacy of 70s New York soul. London's modern disco institution Dave Lee reinvents The Joneses' 'Love Contest' with his trademark finesse, giving the track a full-bodied groove-up without losing its bittersweet heart. The strings soar, the rhythm section locks tight, and Lee's decades-deep knowledge of disco and boogie shines through in every detail. On the flip, New York-based Coleen 'Cosmo' Murphy brings lush new life to Street People's 'I Wanna Get Over'. With sun-drenched keys, crisp hand percussion and subtle delays, she transforms heartache into late-night liberation. Both sides feel like love letters from DJ to danceflooriclassic soul refracted through contemporary ears, pressed on wax that looks and feels like it just time-travelled from 1979.

Review: Nicola Conte and Nico Lahs, both Bari-born producers pushing the boundaries of underground Afro-Latin and jazzdance, hear the warmest of intros through their friends over at Schema Italy, their sound pivoting a careful Newtonian balance between presence and nostalgia. The roomy but distant highs of 'Macumba De Oxala' contrast strongly yet subtly to the hifi plinks and percs of 'La Danse De L'Esprit', on the latter of which we hear visiting production fellow Oaklandian Lalin St Juste add an ancestral vocal magic. This first EP is only a start, with a second 12" and a resultant double LP planned.

Review: We're still a little way from summer but Franck Roger already has an eye on house music for the warmer months. His 'I Can't Wait' comes with a vocal from South African Ree Morris whose smoky tones bring classic deep house vibes to a nice smooth instrumental. Review: Making a long-awaited return this autumn, The Lemonheads are set to drop their first long player - Love Chant - in nearly 20 years. Ahead of a run of Australian shows, they've dropped 'Deep End', a wiry jolt of punk pop with Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis tearing through the choruses and Juliana Hatfield lending backing vocals. Co-written with Tom Morgan, it's full of scratchy charm and late-night cigarette haze, squarely in line with Evan Dando's long history of pop melancholy and ragged sincerity. Review: Secret Soul Society aka Cal Gibson backs up his already assured reputation for being something of an edit maestro here. 'Julians Cabbages' kicks off with dubby downtempo drums and some lovely twinkling arps. 'Make It All True' then refracts a shimmering vocal and some nice musical percussion around a lazy groove and 'Finally Got My Life Together' has a dreamy feeling and widescreen synth architecture. 'Next To You' shuts down with more textured bass and another weird yet wonderful vocal sample.

Haunted by the echoes of jungle's past, Domu steps away for good, he says, with this final outing, which leaves behind three deeply personal tracks. Review: Three Es would be some trip, and EEE also symbolises guaranteed good times in the club. The mysterious label and eponymous artists keep on rolling out essential tech and minimal cuts that are smartly designed and authentic, but also with anthem potential. Maybe that's why each one is a one-sided 12", to really allow the tune room to shine. In this case, dusty drums with a hint of garage swing and shuffle are paired with melodic baseline motifs and colourful synth patterns. It's a good time groove with plenty of heart.

Review: Hailed by RA as a "true connoisseur of music" - and so far with a spectacular trail of festival appearances behind them, apparent between Ireland, New York and Vienna - Island Times Deejay has kept up a staggering career so far. His new EP now drops as an inevitable testament to his ability not just to select but craft and cut grooves of his own; the lead track works through an untraceable disco source sample of fiendishly obscure proportions, despite its brilliant hookline: "set your mind free, you can't fight it, you'll be delighted, destiny". The A-sider is equally obscure, though it sounds to be quite a loyal and forgiving redo of an equally graded disco-soul crooner, awash in lyrical reminders of the operant genre: "disco!"

Review: Like his Windy City compatriots Mark Grusane and Rahan, Cratebug specialises in high-grade, razor-and-tape style re-edits subtly re-framed for 21st century dancefloors. The Chicagoan has released many fine collections of reworks over the last decade and this two-tracker is another high-grade treat. Up first is 'Fiyah', a heavyweight tease-and-release loop jam built around low-slung disco grooves, layered vocal samples and subtle effects trickery. While he appears not to have add any beats, its' Soundstream-esque construction makes it perfectly suited to house dancefloors. Over on the flip, he gives his take on one of the most beloved disco classics of all time: Diana Ross's incredible 'Love Hangover'. He extends the upbeat sections, paying more attention to hear vocalisations, the infectious instrumentation and killer groove.

Review: Demi Riquisimo and The Trip join forces to launch Tessalicious, debuting a collaborative project, splitting partly off from the former artist's own Semi Delicious imprint. The new four-tracker evidences a shared talent by the pair for producing a twisting, winding dance finesser mood, blending melodiousness and functionality so that we almost can't tell the difference between them. Intended to captivate festival-goers, the likes of 'Don't Go Away' and 'Rock The House' offer sensorial and distant vocal samples, though their rare audible moments - "how do you say... you're gorgeous!?" - manage to leave us feeling all fuzzy inside.

Review: Micky More & Andy Tee's Groove Culture hits the notable milestone of 30 releases with another healthy dose of funky disco fun. Stepping up for this one is Shabi, a new name emerging from Berlin with a sound that defies the city's usual techno moodiness. 'Get Up' rides on big loopy drums with silky chords adding colour to clipped vocals and noodling baselines. 'Dream Funky' is another bouncy jam peppered with diva cries and horns, 'Ghetto Beatz' lands a little more heavy with with plenty of ass-wiggling groove and 'Keep It Burnin' rolls deep with sustained chords and plenty of big licks to energise any party.

Deep House
Review: A decade after it was first released (credited, back then, to Detroit Swindle), Dam Swindle's 'Figure of Speech' EP returns on vinyl in freshly remastered form. It remains one of the Amsterdam duo's most respected and much-loved EPs, and for good reason. Opener 'Figure of Speech' is an infectious, rolling and impressively groovy workout which combines African vocal samples, layered percussion and tidy house breaks with warming deep house chords and tech-tinged electronics. 'Victoria's Secret' is a woozier and more analogue-sounding deep house groover with deliciously positive synth melodies and fizzing riffs, while 'Live at the Cosmic Carnival' is a more percussion-rich slab of jazz-flecked, Batacuda-inspired Latin house heaviness that could well be the EP's most potent moment.

Review: Recorded live on September 10, 1993, for BBC Radio 1, this set strips back the studio polish in favour of raw, surging energy, breathing new life into core tracks from their Brown Album era. Review: Detroit's Robert Hood returns to vinyl with a techno triptych that distils his vision into something sharp, agile and impossibly refined. Though long synonymous with minimalism, he hasn't sounded this raw in yearsi'Art Form' arrives like a jolt, all jacking 909s and acidic flickers that feel urgent and alive. It's his first straight techno release since 2024, and it pulses with a kind of stripped-down euphoria, framed by Hood's ear for clean lines and stark rhythmic discipline. 'Art Class' deepens the tone, winding through heavier acid modulations that buzz beneath a more spacious arrangement, less confrontational but just as potent. On the B-side, 'Art School' leans into the cinematic mode, pairing sci-fi synth washes with grinding low-end pressure, rolling somewhere between introspection and propulsion. Though the tracks first landed digitally earlier this year, hearing them sequenced here offers a deeper read into Hood's blueprintiacid as method, groove as design. In his own words, M-Plant is about "only what is essential", and these three cuts prove just how much feeling can be encoded in that minimal frame. It's a statement of intent, executed with absolute clarity from one of techno's true architects.

Review: German scalpel specialist Daniel 'SIRS' Klein rides in with a quartet of typically refined edits here, each track fit for discerning floors thanks to some gentle tucks and studio finesse. The bittersweet soul of 'Love Theme' is one for the lovers out there, with its emotive vocal, dramatic strings and heavy groove, while the tropical disco flex of 'Amigo Da Nova York' is built for peak-time floors, with stirring horns, sexed-up vocals and limber percussion. The gloriously camp 'Love Fever' continues the driving tempo, before closing jam 'Tokyo Fantasy' lifts the roof all the way off, with its impassioned singalong chorus and irrepressible groove.

Review: With Pattern Gardening, London-after-Leeds imprint Wisdom Teeth yank out an extra gnasher we didn't know we had. As has always been the case, label heads Facta and K-Lone could be said to have curated and curetted a new compilation from the joint dentist's chair, exacting a 22-track root canal with periodontal precision, nearly doubling the size of their V/A ambit since 2024's Club Moss. But on this selective six-track sampler for wax, we've only a further sanding down of a much larger minimal, micro and tech house selection; here's gummy textures and maxillary moods by Polygonia, rRoxymore, Lurka, Sub Basics, and newcomer Jichael Mackson. Clarity and sound design are top priorities, as is the ideal of whitened teeth flashed by the poolside. Snappy, Rhodesy, watery.

Review: Vinyl only record label Purple Print mark an impressive selection with 'Lanao Izany', a fresh EP from the Hungarian artist Daniel Meister, whose snappily produced but well-balanced mixes help bring a reinvigorating freshness to the easily mishandled world of minimal tech. We're not sure what "lazao Izany" means, but the track *is* zany: unmistakable synth santoor and crying vocals make for a mournfully mobile mix on the A track. Meanwhile, 'Delight' and 'Different Places' continue to goosebump us with low bandwidth static SFX and relentlessly snappy hits.

Review: Texan deep house stalwart Ben Hixon has been very busy of late, variously serving up EPs of his own and guesting on one by pal (and fellow Dallas resident) J.T Donaldson. Hixon is particularly good at combining analogue electronics (especially vintage drum machine beats) and more organic sounds with lashings of trippy effects and curious samples. He does that masterfully on this four-tracker, skipping between the deep, rolling bass, looped vocal snippets and crunchy beats of 'Get In The Mood', the deep tech-house DJ tool that is 'Drumloop 1', the dusty, minor-key shuffle of title track 'Hustle', and the ultra-deep hypnotism of 'Scared of June'.

Review: Dallas-based Ben Hixon has long been one of the key contributors to the catalogue of hometown label Dolfin Records, most recently co-producing a swathe of cuts on fellow Texan J.T Donaldson's most recent EP. Here he returns to solo action with a typically assured two-tracker. Check first A-side 'Cuming Inside', where warming Fender Rhodes motifs, squelchy synths, cut-up soul vocal snippets and warming bass cluster around a crunchy drum machine beat and jammed-out melodic motifs. He opts for an even deeper and more alien-sounding construction on flipside 'MMM!', an early morning workout that sounds perfect at that point when minds and bodies are entering the hallucinatory realm.

Review: Sub Basics's Temple Of Sound is back with new music from Henry Greenleaf who appears under his new moniker, Greenteeth. It is a project he is clearly using to cook up smart back room minimal sounds going off this evidence: 'Loxton' is a slow motion and prowling groove but one with deep, menacing bass and nice louche percussion. 'Jungle Love' is another subversive sound with a snaking rhythm and dubby low ends, dusty hi hats and late night mischief. Last of, 'On & On & On' plays out over all of the flipside with shuffling drums that are light and airy and topped with wispy drones. It's delightfully hypnotic.

Review: David Morales made a lot of great house records in the 1990s, but few were quite as commercially successful as 1998's 'Needin' U', a gargantuan disco-house slammer that made liberal use of elements from classic tracks by the Chi-Lites and Rare Pleasure. On this Groove Records reissue, the 'Original Mistake' version - the familiar, filter-heavy disco-house looper that formed the basis of the radio edit - is joined by what many believe is the greatest mix, the 'Boss Anthem' take. Strangely omitted from the UK release in 1998, it's ten minutes of tough, DJ Sneak-inspired drums, restless piano stabs, righteous disco samples and oodles of energy. It's undoubtedly one of the best disco-house slammers ever made and more than worthy of a place in your collection.

Review: Back by popular demand, this reissue from one of techno's true originators reminds us just how vital these tracks still sound. First released in 1992 and briefly reissued in 2000, these four cuts showcase a unique hybrid of Detroit precision and early European rave energy that continues to inspire. Review: This new one from Stefan Ringer on his FWM Entertainment combines two distinct releases in one: 3 tracks from his 2021 Meta Music EP and his darker alias Black Sued's 'Rogue' EP. It's a yin-yang journey of sound that shows his range and quality. 'Monotone' pairs signature deep chords and soulful vocals and distorted bass with minimal drums, while 'New Plan' is a driving, rhythmic workout of persistence and groove. Review: US veteran JT Donaldson makes the sort of killer tech house that immediately makes you want to move. This time out the Dallas, Texas resident lands on Dolfin Records with a deeper sound that is raw and heavy. 'Choose' rides on knackered-sounding kick with just deft synth smears for company. 'Don't Sweat' has a double-time rhythm with sombre chords adding the soul and 'Want Her Around' gets the hips swinging with its lovely claps, muted, softly glowing sustained synths and lumpy deep house drums. Flipping the script yet again. 'Sunday Drive' is a more nimble and jazzy dancer and 'Take 2' is a sunny house sound with hints of Metro Area nu-disco synth magic and a big fat bassline.

Review: After recently singing to Ministry of Sound, Wh0 - Robert Chetcuti, formerly of Rhythm Masters- continues his ascension in the dance music world with a 12" for esteemed label, Rekids. The original mix is a polished club weapon that blends sensual grooves with deeper house textures. Wh0's ability to layer catchy vocal hooks with finely tuned production helps the overall sound and the intricate changes. With over 30 singles to his credit in less than a decade, he keep the volume up as well as the quality. Adding firepower to the release is the remix from Catz 'n Dogz, who take the original into more intense techno territory. Their rework simmers with suspense before breaking into a charged, kinetic drop. Where Wh0's version leans into flirtation and bounce, Catz 'n Dogz opt for a tougher, warehouse edge. Together, these two versions provide a versatile one-two punch for DJs.

Review: Slovenian producer Zeta Reticula (Uros Umek) collides with fellow floor electro-lighter Helga Neuer (Damjan Bizilj) across four galaxy-crossing searers. Though the latter artist is a relative newcomer on what could reasonably be called the Eastern European electro mesh network, both have nonetheless already enjoyed a dual release on Berlin label Mechatronica, smushing the competition with the piezo-powered hydraulic press, 'I Am Mensch' (2022). Now they return phoenix-stylee with 'Firebird', whose title track trails bolide fireballs behind its fizzling arps, and whose later tracks carry a ridiculous energetic half-life, 'Distress Signal' and 'Investigate The Signal' seeming to logging the same inspirant radio burst at different frequencies.

Review: German techno DJ and producer Tim Engelhardt takes a bold steps toward ascendant progressive techno with 'My Joy', his latest for Habitat. Nodding to the many sun-drenched euphorias personally experienced in Ibiza, this is a true live-it-up house record. Panned organs and subtle vocals take centre stage on the A1, while the B 'Love Triangle' complicates things with a beachside love involution. Review: Dublin's techno master steps out with a release that feels both emotionally charged and technically razor sharp for his own label Xistence. Balancing precision with heart, these tracks echo the roots of Detroit techno while reaching boldly into the future. 'The Fear Of Failing' leads with a crystalline melody that feels like it's been beamed in from another dimension. The production is slick and spacious, but there's warmth in the detail, and the main motif is hard to forget. 'Homecoming' drifts in with a deep rolling groove that's part celestial drift, part afterhours love letter. Everything about it feels smooth and elevated, like watching the sunrise from orbit. Claude Young steps in on remix duties and delivers something raw and gritty. His take on 'The Fear Of Failing' strips things down to a lean acid framework. It's a trip back to techno's skeleton while still sounding sharp in the now. 'Mirror Reaction' rounds things off with pure Detroit class. Built with intent and clarity, it's the kind of track that moves both head and body. A graceful, thoughtfully crafted EP from a producer clearly in control of his sound.

Review: Birmingham's Jossy Mitsu and Bluetoof join headsy forces on their new collaboration for Tempa, colliding the former artist's rinsed, globetrotting UK-troit DJ sets the world over and the latter's "drum specialisms" formerly lent to labels the likes of Shall Not Fade. Transcending the one-forties for a deeper-shades descension, 'Metamorphic' and 'Acid' establish a mood of nightclub meets human biostasis facility, as sci-fi zaps meet brooding, high-sustain bass cues. 'H20' is the sole tune to heighten the mood, its stop-start rollerblade bass and necksnap 808s proffering a jammier digestif.

Review: Paris-based artist Alex infuses his latest 12" with emotional clarity and cinematic weight, charting two personal chapters across a vivid stylistic spectrum. 'Colors in the Rain' unfolds slowly, stretching over nine minutes with plush chords, detuned synth spirals and muted percussion - evoking a kind of romantic unease that teeters between beauty and disorientation. It's club-ready but drenched in feeling, moving with the pacing of a memory. On the flip, 'Drama Major' leans further into a kind of pop-noir introspection: melodies rise, fragment, then reform with aching insistence over blown-out kicks and heavy low-end. Mastered at Dubplates & Mastering and distributed by Yoyaku, the record is technically pristine, but its emotional core is what lingers. Club music, yes, but made from the same raw material as heartbreak. Alex doesn't just score his own past here but offers a blueprint for others to make sense of theirs.

Review: Claus Voigtmann's Life Miles LP was another fine bit of work from the London-based German, and now two of the singles from it get served up on a new 12" next to remixes from a pair of tasteful underground producers. First up is LA-based Liquid Earth who brings some low-end wonk to 'North Of The Sun' next to acid-soaked grooves and driving 909s. The original pumps a bit harder with a Leftfield cosmic edge. Then comes Youandewan on the flip. He twists 'Lowrider' into a murky and late-night dub cut with warped bass and a signature sense of crispy tech funk. The original is a more high-speed and silky, electro-inspired space cruise with lovely broken beats.

Review: Decoder brings his deliciously dark take on drum & bass to this new one from Over/Shadow. It drills deep into the heart of a smoky, strobe-lit dance floor while also offering plenty of mental soundscapes to explore with your eyes closed. 'DT103' has crisp breaks and warped bass under shards of broken, glassy melody and 'DD1' then floats on a more skeletal rhythm with grazing background pads and apocalyptic bass. The Technical Itch remix brings even more in-your-face textured percussion and 'MB29' shuts down with a cosmic exploration and skittish drum patterns.

Review: Skatebard and Lauer are Trollkraft, a sure-to-be iconic Norwegian-German partnership that has a famous love of synths and have already put out vast reserves of quality sounds across various styles. Here their collaboration gives rise to a pair of electrifying cuts. The title track features rich drum layers, lush strings and a throbbing bass undercurrent which has elements of disco, house, indie and Italo all adding to its charm. 'One Night In Geilo' channels 90s house rhythms with a brilliant two-stepping melody that smartly reimagines rave with playful, effervescent energy. These two wizards bring great character to this music with strobe lights, bongos, and trance all making for a full on heart-of-the-party experience doused in euphoria.

Review: Back on his own Somov Records, Amsterdam native Ignez shares a quartet of tightly wound, emotionally-charged techno lapsers, polarising stripped-back propulsion and moments of spectral calm. Since launching the label in 2019, he's explored a range from full-bodied percussion workouts to spacious ambient drift, and this latest four-track drop continues in that mode, club-focused but spiritually canted. The release trades in memory and atmosphere, evoking the echo of shared moments rather than spelling them out: 'Satindancer' and 'Skies We Share' make literal titular allusions to fabric and atmosphere, evidencing the acuity and sensitivity of the artist to ideas of both materiality and spirituality.

Review: Wild breaks from the wild west; Welsh beat sculptor Abstract Drumz gets busy on the mighty Over/Shadow. Four cuts heavy, each one designed to slap your rave silly. 'Just A Ride' opens the EP with atmospheric aplomb. Brisk pads and live jazzy breaks set the scene, hitting hard in all the right places. Elsewhere 'I Like The Rain' galvanizes AD's Celtic status with unhurried charm before 'Ethereal Remix' gets a lot more frenetic. Finally 'Culture '24' closes the EP with some of the heaviest chops of the set. Wallop!

Deep House
Review: Raw but slinky Chi-style deep house from Boo Williams, a key fixture of the Illinois city's nightlife since 1981. Originally released on Relief in 94 'A New Beginning' and its sequelae 'The-B-W Groove' and 'Phasis' are surprising contrasts here, providing affective sonic snapshots of the city's many blocked, narrow streets. The former of these two tracks serves steam-trailed strings and gulping chords down below, whilst the later jacks up the high knob to enclose an FM-bobbing bounce, around which spitting 909s, tuned cowbells and overdriven kicks collect.

Review: With more than two decades of output behind him, French producer Okain continues to carve his own path through the deeper ends of dance music. On this latest EP, he folds elements of acid, sci-fi and Goa trance into a rich and forward-moving four-tracker. The experience leans much more toward interstellar techno exploration. 'Acid Spin' kicks things off with propulsion. It's not overly fast, but the drive is undeniable. Electric squiggles and sharp synth lines dart across a steady rhythm, giving the track an urgent yet sleek atmosphere. 'EPR Paradox' is just as tightly produced, letting its groove build gradually with layers of texture and restraint. On the 2nd side, 'Wavefunction' drops into a swirling, cosmic descent. It feels like tumbling through a wormhole, where the lines between gravity and sound begin to blur. 'Computing Force' rounds off the journey with a deft hybrid of Goa trance energy and techno structure. The melodies shimmer with a nostalgic rave glow, yet everything remains clean, spacious, and functional. Altogether, the EP is a bold statement from a veteran still pushing boundaries. It's deep, physical, and built for futuristic dancefloors. This EP could change minds when it comes to what psy-trance is...

Review: Javier Marimon returns with a set of amb-immersers shaped by architecture, memory, and the shifting continguities of sound and physical space. Made during his time in Saigon in 2018, the tracks lean into absence, with subtle, bass-free constructions predominating over a musical space that exists to be inhabited. A further remix from Vand , meanwhile, reinterprets the original material through a thinner lens, offering a contrasting perspective without overwhelming the source. A quiet but affecting punctuation mark in an already rather grand artistic discography.

Review: South London's Tom Esselle returns with a standout EP on Rhythm Section that cements his place at the core of the UK underground. Building on past successes like 'Praise Bes' on Wolf Music and 'Lou's Groove' on Rhythm Section, this release shows off his wide-ranging house influences which have all been refined through collaborations with Chaos In The CBD. The A-side delivers club heat with 'Baddies' featuring a killer mid-2000s r&b sample, and the techy 'Plaything'. The flip is breezier as 'One Of These Days' shines with Dave Koor's jazzy keys, while 'Harmonise' closes things with dreamy warmth. A mature, versatile offering from a producer hitting his stride.

Review: British producer BufoBufo makes profound electro tunes that are as much defined by their storytelling synths and their fresh rhythms. He draws on acid, breakbeat and classic house on this new EP, which though cosmic and journeying also retains a real human soul. 'Celandine' glistens with rueful pads and taught basslines that rise and fall next to lush synth outbreaks. 'Bittern' is more dark and prickly with a menacing undercurrent and 'Quantum Tunnel' shuts down with a slower, more reflective sound, beautiful arps and languid drums. Our favourite is the open though, 'Petroglyph', with its nimble basslines and widescreen psychedelic synth explosions.

Review: Dom Angas has come a long way from his Moving Shadow singularity 'Can't Punish Me', which soon saw(tooth) an enviable career in techstep well underway. The nominally double-taker artist now issues 'Reimagination', throwing back to another shadowgraph from the MS era, 'Imagination'. This tune appealed best to the dystopian rollage crowd: there's no drop, but rather a straight barrage of hyper-crunchy cybergoth Reesework and parched beats. His new 'Reimagination', from now, continues to channel the mood but this time with added hope and angelics, shortly before a forget-me-not VIP of the original track reveals a wicked Star Trek sampling darkside version: "There are times when I find myself transfixed by a shadow on the wall, or the splashing of water against a stone. The hours pass, the world around me drops away, replaced by worlds being created and destroyed by my imagination."
