Party Bombs Vol 1
Cat: BOMBS 001. Rel: 05 Nov 21

Techno
Oshana - "Everlast" (7:32)
DJ Stroboscope - "Party Bass" (4:57)
Obsidian - "Hall 46" (6:52)
Magic Doz - "With You" (6:09)
Review: The System Errors label branches out with a new series here, but there are absolutely no prizes for guessing what Party Bombs Volume 1 is about. Oshana kicks things off with a nice throwback techno sound that is fulsome and fast but with plenty of funk. DJ Stroboscope immediately steals the show with his 'Party Bass,' which combines backward bass stabs with 2-step tinged percussion, naught vocals and a generally over-the-top sense of dance floor fun. The flip side features the nimble neon lights and the glossy electronic house of 'Hall 46' and a rave-tinged piano banger from Magic Doz to close out. Useful tackle for sure.

Party Bombs Vol 3
Cat: BOMBS 003. Rel: 16 May 25

Techno
Parchi Pubblici - "Perfect Vacuum2Disco" (6:03)
Lanzieri - "Twisted Tango" (6:53)
Raku - "Valle Dei Templi" (7:04)
Phill Prince - "Indigo" (7:36)
Review: As you can tell from the title of this ongoing series, System Error likes to serve up only 100% party bombs. The third volume lives up to that once more with Parchi Pubblici kicking off with the acid-laced bumps of 'Perfect Vacuum2Disco' complete with zippy synths and snappy percussion. Lanzieri's 'Twisted Tango' hits just as hard with an electro-techno fusion that rides on psychedelic synth loops with jacked-up drums. Raku's 'Valle Dei Templi' has a more pared-back sound with a menacing and rubbery low end and creeping synths that keep you on edge. Phill Prince's 'Indigo' shuts down with something tripped out and retro with 90s techno vibes colouring the drums.

Ages Of Loneliness (5:19)
Organ For The Dead (5:17)
Speed Crack Pastis (5:27)
DJ (5:25)
Review: Retro techno in the vein of Art Of Dark, Libertine and Time Passages et al courtesy of Giacomo Robbenspierre. He's an Italian producer based in Cuneo, who presents the sophomore release for System Error - the Berlin-based label run by Moses Mawila. On The Age Of Loneliness EP you can venture into late night madness with the euphoric rave energy of the title track, then feel the power of the splintered beats which fuel the second Summer Of Love vibe of 'Organ For The Dead' and likewise on the blissed-out sunset breaks of "DJ".

Unknown Paths EP
Unknown Paths EP (limited 12")
Cat: HAUSTIERE 01. Rel: 13 May 24

Minimal/Tech House
Free Your Mind (7:02)
Seductive Room (6:15)
Unknown Paths (5:47)
We Nevermind (5:09)
Review: The new label System Error kicks off with some proper good underground house vibes from Sisto. 'Free Your Mind' has a sunny West Coast disposition with some nice muttered words, sparkling keys and frictionless drums and snares. 'Seductive Room' has more of a stripped-back bump to it and a more introspective feel to the minor chords, while 'Unknown Paths' is an uplifting and jaunty groove that rides through the cosmos on soulful waves. Last of all is the heavier and off-balance late-night house sounds of 'We Nevermind.' A top EP and surely signs of good things to come from this label.

Face Five EP
Cat: ERROR 107. Rel: 22 Jan 25

Electro
Teru
Comprando
Single Phase Flow
Direxion
Review: Uruguay's Two Phase U have been crafting electro rhythms since the 90s and are early pioneers of their national scene as a result. They have since made their make on the wider underground and once again bring some class here for System Terror. 'Teru' kicks off with lithe rhythms and the sound of seagulls adding an organic edge to the crisp drums. 'Comprando' pairs a poppy, playful sense of melody with glitchy perc and acid stabs for something effective yet fun, then 'Single Phase Flow gets a little more serious with acid stabs and crispy electro before 'Direxion' is a dubby, dynamic electronic sound that is sprinkled with cosmic detail.
