Vibe With Me (6:12)
I’m So High (5:46)
Dried Fruit (5:43)
Powder (5:58)
Review: Nail is one of UK house music's most vital contributors. His raw sound pioneered a new style of tech house in the 90s and here he reappears under a different alias, AM Vibe. 'Vibe With Me' kicks off with nice loose drums and perc and jazzy keys adding the warmth and soul. 'I'm So High' brings some loopy and filtered fun and phased vocals for a sleazy feel, then 'Dried Fruit' gets more upbeat with lush synth swirls and effortlessly cool drums and rich r&b vocal samples. 'Powder' closes out with some thumping kicks and more tender vocal stabs. As always, this is brilliantly heartfelt and effective tackle from Nail.

Metropolitan Soul Museum - "Negative Mouth" (6:13)
John Beltran - "Canarias" (6:57)
Nathan Kofi & RDS - "Bankastraat" (3:22)
Tramic - "Lanterns" (4:14)
Review: Kulture Galerie has got off to a superb start with a release that got the attention of big names such as Laurent Garnier, Midland and Vladimir Ivkovic. The pressure is on, in that case, to follow that up with a second release that makes just as much impact and the label passes the test with flying colours with a various artists' collection featuring some big names. Chief amongst them are Detroit don John Beltran with his scintillating hi-tek soul workout 'Canarias', and Bohm with the densely woven synth layers and dusty drum programming over the gorgeous 'Tactical Options!' Add in the more hard edge drums of 'Metropolitan Soul Museum's 'Negative Mouth', the melodic elegance of 'Bankastraat' and the acid madness of Tramic's 'Lanterns' and you have a vital 12".

Bubbles The Pimp - "Winterunamerican" (5:48)
Nelly Wilson - "Trapped & Confused" (4:47)
Pierre Pressure - "Love & Beyond" (5:58)
Review: The Dessert Island Discs series continues with yet more arch remixes from across the disco and boogie spectrum. Bubbles The Pimp kicks off the A side with a tasteful treatment of Gil Scott Heron's "Winter In America," which gets rustled up into a sweet and sassy house number with a cheeky acid b-line underneath. Nelly Wilson whips up a storm on the tightly clipped, peak time-oriented "Trapped & Confused". Pierre Pressure's "Love & Beyond" takes it easy on the B side with plenty of fluttering synth wobbles to offset the choppy funk of the guitar - it's a cosmically enhanced floor burner to get you all astral under the collar.

Nnatn - "Magia Du Samba" (7:01)
Review: Some V/As are dubious in their length, seeming to span both EP and mini-compilation length in equal measure, but not this one, which definitely seems to know what it's about. Moiss Music are no stranger to this format, here presenting their second vinyl release 'Watermelon Jam' after the first EP-length four tracker, 'Strawberry Jam'. Nu-disco, funk and house is the name of the game once again, and the tone is set by C Da Afro's 'That Funky Horn' via sample-filtering soul and raucous trumpets. The vocal cuts on this record are among its highlights; Disco Endeavours' 'So High' carries Brandy-esque chirps along a funking house backdrop, while the best of the bunch - 'Feelin's Mutual' by Pookie Knights - channels Carmen or Sylvester in its syrupy refrains and jet-set arps. Even a samba house bit closes it off - a swell all-rounder.

Review: It's been a while, but finally Dessert Island Discs is back with another batch of feel-good party cakes hot and steaming out of the oven. There's a bunch of highly skilled patisserie chefs on hand to whip up the goods, from James Curd with the ludicrously steamy acid funker "This Girl Is Hot" to DJ Confit with the heavy looping disco house of "Yellow Day". Nelly Wilson is bringing some sassy disco edit business to the B side with the utterly infectious "Hapenis & Pleisure", and then Herb Flavor seals the deal with the fierce stomp of "Para Dice". If you want four full fat treats to get people popping, you can't go wrong with this one.

The Way It Was (Ralf Gum beat)
Review: Be prepared for something fresh and special when Ralf Gum signs a track just to put out own remixes. When he heard "The Way It Was" he got into the brilliant, spiritual vocals of Inaya Day. Unfortunately the music of the original version, produced and recorded back in 2001 by DJ Nativeson, got lost. Fortunately the vocal tracks still existed on his hard drive. Hence Ralf Gum and Crisp got onto it and added their own stamp of musicianship. This is an amazing Gogo music release.

Mathew Ferness opens this one with 'Paradisio' which has plenty of inspiration taken from late afternoon dances somewhere like Ibiza. 3kelves & We Are Neurotic get you working your feet with the busy percussive grooves and squelchy synth funk of 'Laguna Reservoir Funk' while Naux brings lots of loopy fun and throwback vocal goodness to his steamy 'Foxxy Cleopatra.' Review: Mark Francis teams up with Nimiwari to deliver a soulful house gem in 'Exclusively', a track that brings the Newark DJ's signature sound to the forefront. Known for his residency at Club Shelter, Francis expertly crafts a lush soundscape, with Shawn Lucas on keys adding a rich layer of depth. Nimiwari's vocal performance, blending soul and house influences, elevates the track with emotion and finesse. On remix duties, Detroit legend Alton Miller steps in with a groovy rework, featuring his trademark keys and a bassline that glides effortlessly. Miller's take is an elegant nod to his deep roots in the scene, co-founder of The Music Institute club and a key figure in Detroit's house history. Both the original and remix are backed by instrumentals, offering DJs ample space to work with on the floor. Francis and Nimiwari have created something special here, a soulful, timeless track with just the right amount of modern flair. It's a testament to their artistry and the production skills of everyone involved, especially in how the music flows so naturally from one version to the next.

Just Get Over It (Dale Anderson & Anil Chawla remix)
Review: Fresh from the success of their last club stomper & Radio One Essential New Tune "Discotech", Timo and the Catz come back with a belter of a track. Originally written as a Balearic chillout track by Timo and singer songwriter Niki (Release Yourself), it wasn't long before the guys put their electro singed house stamp firmly on it. Tough drums and electrifying synths are perfectly complimented with the vocals in the original mix, with Anil Chawla & Dale Anderson (Saved Records) delivering an epic piece of main room action on the flip. Reactions: Tall Paul "Kiss FM Playlisted! Review: MN2S drop a split EP of soulful boompty business with stalwart Nick Moss at the helm for the A Side, revisiting his irregular Groove Assassins project for an excellent track featuring the vocal talents of legendary house warbler Pete Simpson. The Groove Assassin's vocal mix of "Make It Right" is perfectly poised to fully utilise Simpson's soulful tone with a subtle backdrop of warm chords ripping over muscular rhythms, whilst the dub mix does what all good mixes of this ilk should -looping and stretching Simpson's vocal out and giving the driving rhythm more emphasis. Not to be outdone on the flip, Neil Pearce drops an equally fine vocal house groover in "Outta My Head" filled with deep piano flourishes and a excellent dominating turn from Dawn Tallman - check the Muthafunkaz remix for deeper vibes!

Review: Sean McCabe initially launched Good Vibrations a few years ago as a regular party in Bristol, with the assistance of local soulful house legend Deli G. This 12" marks the debut of the freshly minted offshoot label and sees McCabe join forces with regular collaborator Nathan Adams. Predictably, it's another superb slice of dancefloor soul music, with Adams' impeccable vocal a snug fit with McCabe's skipping drums, sumptuous Rhodes chords and bubbly electronic bassline. Arguably even better is Louie Vega's ten-minute Roots Mix, which replaces some of McCabe's electronics with more traditional instrumentation for an even richer and warmer dancefloor experience. McCabe's Nostalgic Dub, complete with fresh paino and synth solos, is also superb.

Review: Invisible Inc's latest compilation EP, Mondo Ritmo, is a rhythmic exploration that spans the globe, featuring diverse influences from Latin and Afro to dub, dancehall, and acid. Building on the momentum of last year's Mondo Organico, this release places a strong emphasis on percussion and rhythm, making it a compelling addition to the label's catalog. The EP kicks off with 'Cabasa Loca' by Mytron & Balam, a track that's already proven its dancefloor prowess, with label head GK Machine spinning it regularly at his Wrong Party nights. Tom Chasteen's 'Wicked Can't Run,' a house and dancehall fusion, also stands out, featuring Jamaican legend U Brown and mixed by the iconic David Harrow. While the remaining tracks might not be peak-time anthems, they offer something for the more adventurous listener. Thomass Jackson, Thomash, and GATS, as Changa Boys, deliver a rich percussive experience with Senegalese drummer Ndiaxo dal Jaam, while Congo Caveman assists on the mysterious Machine's contribution. Mondo Ritmo is a vibrant, eclectic compilation that promises to captivate both seasoned dancers and rhythm enthusiasts alike.

Ron Trent's remix of "Can't Change Me" masterfully combines the acutely rhythmic energy of house with N'Dambi's resoundingly evocative delivery. His last offering was an Asian orientated EP, but here it is ethno-inspired dance from Africa that provides the stylistic overtones. "Cassiopeia" originally appeared on a compilation on Warp, but now it gets a full side of vinyl over which to unfurl its arcane 90s magic. Entrancing synth cascades and stuttering sampler mantras, throbbing b-lines and jacking claps all make for a holy grail deep techno track from the good old days, and Nail has given it a 2019 remix on the flip which brings the spiritual shenanigans of the original into a different kind of meditative, house-oriented context.

Review: Atlanta's Nikki Nair debuted only in 2018 but has amassed a fine discography since then, collecting plenty of top label credits with the likes of Lobster Theremin, Dirtybird, Breaks N Pieces and now Sweden's curveball captains, Studio Barnhus. 'Can't Wait' is a gloriously off beat ditty that is part Balearic, part downtempo, part dance-pop gem. The melodies are innocent lullabies for soothing late night listening while the spoken vocals are processed through, maybe, a talk box, to give them a retro-future feel. It's superbly curious then Peder Mannerfelt remixes it into a dubby, high tempo techno banger.

Patron (4:57)
Review: A warm welcome back to the shadowy NANN imprint, whose debut release -the brilliant 'Cog in the Wheel' - sold out in record time earlier in the year. There was a good reason for that, of course: it brilliantly turned a dusty chunk of modern soul into a driving, ear-catching deep house delight. The three tracks here are similar cut-and-paste, sample-heavy affairs, each utterly inspired. 'Love Issues' is a bubbly, rolling acid jam rich in TB-303 lines, wild electrofunk synth flourishes, chunky drum machine beats and elements lifted from an old French boogie jam, while 'Burning Hot' is a rolling number rich in chunky, hip-house style beats, toasty organ chords and undulating acid bass. 'Patron', meanwhile, adds weighty, bass-heavy house bounce to the Godfather of Soul with predictably impressive results.

And with a name alluding to the careful manner by which docking ports interlock in aerospace, a common sci-fi trope, this is a wicked first entry to the game by Naone. Sullen percussions mark the opening two tracks, while the B-side offers the most meat on the bone, with 'The World Is A Fire' igniting our desire, trailing an especially musky exhaust trail of dreamy spurts and little melodies behind it.

Spring Ball (Simon Haydo rework)
Review: Polish studio boffin Naphta seems to be a producer on the rise. His most recent EP, Solar Empire, created memorable deep house tracks out of humid instrumentation, loose percussion and curious South American influences. Here he's at it again, offering exotic, sun-ripened grooves for Axel Boman and company's Studio Barnhus imprint. "Palm Trees Love" has a little more lazy disco flavour, with glistening guitars, snappy handclaps and a warm, dub-influenced bassline helping to create a particularly Balearic mood. There's an even more humid, South American feel to the choppy "Spring Ball", which is also turned into an hypnotic chunk of heads-down tech-house - complete with Batucada drums and intoxicating electronic noises - by remixer Simon Haydo.

Waiting For You (Dave Whelan & Di Scala remix)
Review: Yoshitoshi with another massive anthem on their hands from hit makers Narcotic Thrust (the guys behind "Safe from Harm.") Plenty of mixes on this double pack release, with enough beats and vibes for any party-moving DJ out there. Dave Whelan & DJ Scala’s mix utilises the uplifting feel of the original while adding a droning bassline and electro stabs, along with an enormous breakdown. Steve Mac’s dub chills out the groove with a more electro and acid flavoured rub, while MYNC Project’s mix delivers a more pumping peakhour mix with a cool 80s synthy feel. Round things off with more dubs and versions, as well as the powerful, dreamy original mix. A big summer track without a doubt from one of the best labels in the game.

Juju Beat
Review: The Africanism saga continues with another beauty of the ethnic house nature. This is the first release from this act on the label, but they are no strangers to these pages with a string of releases on labels such as Soulfuric and Project. Title track comes in two mixes in a true Aficanism style with the original being slightly along the lines of Gregory's Balearic classic "Elle" with a rich acoustic guitar line running over some rich tribal beats. There is also a dub, which has been compared to the live version of a certain Lil Louis classic. B side "Juju" is another tribal based bonanza filled with perky synth hooks and big room drums.

Review: Having slipped out a few choice drops on tape and vinyl for No Bad Days and Fruit Merchant in the past year, Native Cruise charts a course for Paesaggi Records to deliver the label's second release. The music has a humid quality that it's oh so easy to get stuck into, from the laconic house roll of "Late Nights" to the moody sundowner "Desert Theory". Things get even dreamier on the flip as "Bermuda Clouds" unfurls a dazzling polyphonic cascade of digi-synth work before low-slung closer "Whispers" brings the ship into dock in oh-so smooth style.

Review: Justin Long's Dotbleep label keeps on the hot streak in a BIG way with this killer release from Natural Rhythm. Already getting canings from Heather, Derrick Carter and Swag, 'Mumble Mouth' and the flipside tracks are just what you'd expect from NR; twisted beat tracks dripping with lots of funk, jackin' Chi-town beats and raucous bassline pressure.

Dark Tower Dub
Beat The Cheat
Review: Dotbleep are have a lot up their sleeves in the months to come and the "Chicago Tower" EP from Natural Rhythm is the first of many bombs to come! This, their 10th milestone is truly a slice of Chi-town madness. First on deck is the title track "Chicago Tower" a track that is very much in the same vein as Natural Rhythm's collaboration with Freaks and Swag on the Wash House "Lovehate", pure jacking deep shuffling house action with a quirky vocal sample, slick swinging beats, deep bass and an infectious synth stab that gets nicely sustained. On the flip is a darker, more twisted dub and rounding off the EP is "Back To The Cheat", another brilliant slab of jackin' Chi-town gear.

Review: Balearic house maestro Kiko Navarro has a long and winding career through funky house which has graced the likes of Pacha, BBE, Wonderwheel and many more besides. He inaugurates his Afroterraneo label (named after his 2020 album) with a glossy vocal cut draped in all the feel good style points he's made his own over more than three decades. As well as the original mix, Navarro also offers up a clubbier rework for those who want to take the party deeper. On the flip the mighty Kerri Chandler offers up a signature slice of warm, mellifluous New Jersey gear and Tuccillo slows things right down with a backroom diversion that could well be the standout joint on this sparkling 12".
