N-Ter - "We Will Emerge" (4:46)
Review: The Spanish Hypnotic Collective label attempts to capture its take on the Detroit Legacy with what looks like a new series of various artists' EP. There is plenty of Motor City soul in the gorgeous synths of Cignol's muted acid and deep house opener 'Distance' which is a soothing and reverential groove, but then its pure party from Barce, Alex Martin offers up 313 style tech and three further tunes on the flip explore blistering electro with high-speed funk and cosmic intent. Mission accomplished and we're already looking forward to the next one.

Kalson - "The Origin Of Energy" (6:26)
Kalson - "Luminous Horizon" (5:38)
Review: Dagobert & Kalson deliver the third instalment of their serial Stellar Mode project, which sticks out like a rogue planet amid a sea of drab and unremarkable stylistic orbiters. This four-track cosmic fulguration consists of two tracks by each artist, and is notable for its ultra-glossy action-packed ambient breaks content; they've just done something wonderfully extra to the sound here, treating each element like exoplanetary objects of study and refinement. As Kraftwerkish sequences and ambient soundscapes collide with planetary ring systems of bass and plucksynth, what's not to love here?

Acid Tounge (4:59)
Review: Two underground artists with many years in the scene behind them in Darwin Chamber and DJ Spun come together for the second in their Episode series on Rong Music. Once again they dig into the sounds of their formative years while also looking to the future as they blend dub, trance and techno into lithe new forms. 'The Revolution' is a mid-tempo and atmospheric roller with hypnotic vocals, while 'The Playa' is a deft bit of electronic minimalism with a deep space feel and ticking 808 sounds. Things get more loose with the warped synths and dusty tech beats of 'Dysfunction' while 'Acid Tounge' closes with trippy designs, a skeletal rhythm and a sense of late-night melodic and afterparty mischief.

Summer La Costa (Mourad remix) (6:47)
Review: American house don Roy Davis Jnr is inseparable from his cult classic 'Gabriel' with Peven Everett but also has many other delightful deep house cuts in his discography. His Black Excellence EP is one of them. It came digitally in 2022 on the P'oe Records label and now gets pressed up to wax for the imprint's first foray into this medium. It features the single 'Hidden Hebrew' which is a percussive deep house sound with soothing piano chords and plenty of drum fills and splashy cymbals. There are two different remixes of it as well as his own RDJ version of 'Summer La Costa' which is a more humid and horn-laced jam with a soulful topline. Last of all is a Mourad Remix packed with wet hand claps and chopped-up loops and violin.

Review: Rome's contemporary jazz maestro Stefano De Santis is back with his 'New Beginning' EP on the esteemed Quattro Bambole Music. Across four stunning tracks, Stefano's musicianship shines as he explores jazz-infused broken beat, boogie, deep house and lo-fi hip-hop. Highlights come thick and fast and include the mellow jazz landscapes of 'Roy,' the lush blend of slow-motion house and broken beats on 'Lie#3', the emotive, piano-driven 'Paths' and the 80s boogie vibe of 'Tokyo 80.' UK producer Sean McCabe mastered the EP but also delivers a deep house dub of 'Lie#3.'

Review: Whatever you were expecting from an album named 'Superflous', forget it. An exploration into all the many paths of light that refract from the prism of house music, Bagarre commands the dancefloor with every track, placing specific emphasis on keys - a side of the genre that the mainstream has fallen out of love with in recent years. The silky smooth jazz house of 'Espirit Coubertin', a more classic NYC brand of vocal house (beset with 80s synth phrases) in 'Truman Flow' and a divulgence into some driving piano acid house with chopped up vocals in 'Annees Folles' to even a more modern, turn of the century approach with the big hit 'Eurovision' - I could go on. A wonderful and tight package, this LP almost feels like a compilation for how varied and versatile the tracks are. The packaging being one of the selling points of course, the carbon impact of the vinyl production promising to be compensated by a French organisation. You certainly don't have to feel bad about dancing to this now.

Review: Best dig out a bona fide gem from the early days of Italian house music - a one-shot hit from the masterful minds of Alex Neri and Marco Baroni that originally surfaced in 1992 on Adriatic Club. This sunkissed classic has everything a deep house cut should - smooth piano, a splash of diva vocals, and feel-good vibes oozing from every pore. For our money the "Deep Jungle Mix" is the one - a smouldering swinger that will draw you in and keep you warm at night, but whichever twist on the '90s styles you prefer this record has got you covered.

Review: Enjoy The Silence, Depeche Mode's standout single from Violator, marked a significant moment in the band's career, becoming their most successful UK single since 'Master & Servant' in 1984. 'Enjoy The Silence' captured both critical and public acclaim, peaking at number six in the UK charts and achieving top spots in Denmark and Spain, as well as reaching number eight in the US. The 12" version is beloved by fans with the myriad of great remixes the song provided. This new yellow vinyl version helps meet the demand of an always desirable dance record. The single's success earned Depeche Mode their first Brit Award for Best Single of 1990. This newfound positivity extended to the subsequent reception of Violator, solidifying 'Enjoy The Silence' as an iconic track in Depeche Mode's discography. The song continues to be celebrated for its brooding, tender qualities, and its ability to resonate with audiences globally as well as the iconic video.

Review: Much loved doom monger emo kids Depeche Mode have always been ripe for remixing by new generations of electronic music artists and so it is that there 'My Favourite Stranger' gets a series of re-rubs here on Columbia. Tech house mainstay Boris Brejcha remixes first and elongates the grooves with mournful pads up top. The Ela Minus remix of the same tune brings some extra textured and darker moods and the best is saved till the last if you ask us. The Lond Island Sound remix is high speed and tinged with electro synth work as the moody vocals echo about the mix to trippy effect.

Review: Presenting "Anticlockwise", on Cadenza, the debut album from Digitaline (aka the Swiss duo of Gregorythme and Laps). Spontaneity and flux are key. Bright harmonics shower everything in sparks and tiny plaintive sounds plunge like diving birds. Drum tuning and delay timing are in constant motion; everything modulates everything else. These aren't the ubiquitous clicks and glitches of minimal, but something far more inspired. Digitaline's beats offer a sense of groove that's frankly irresistible, a classic jacking vibe kitted out in alien tones and melodies that dance on the edge of melancholy.

Review: Dirotta Su Cuba is an Italian jazz / funk / pop band formed in in Florence over 30 years ago. We have another pressing of their 2020 single "Nothing Is Impossible", with the smooth acid jazz of the original complemented by the low slung, Latin influenced funky house on the Cimbamix - which is worth it for the price alone. Fly Free (Jon Dixon edit) (4:38)
Review: Underground Resistance established the 4EVR 4WRD label in mid-2016, seemingly as an outlet for music by the crew's live band, Timeline. This second salvo more or less fits the brief, as it's a solo outing by Timeline member Jon Dixon. The 12" boasts a trio of versions of "Fly Free", an R&B/soul inspired chunk of melodious - but naturally a little spacey - deep house. Dixon's own "Edit" version, which includes a few more stylistic nods towards Detroit techno amongst the deep house sounds and looped vocal samples, can be found on the flipside alongside Al Ester's chunkier but no less dreamy Dub. Perhaps the most obviously energetic take, and certainly the most pumping percussively, comes from John Collins.

Review: DJ Pirna's new EP has a rather unreconstructed title in 'It Smells Like Bootyhole On Mars Bring Me Back To Earth!' but there is nothing wrong with the beats. The six tunes are all sizzling dancefloor workouts that draw on juke, house, footwork and electro and first up is the soulful sound of 'Where You Are Is Not Who You Are' before 'Trashman' gets all wonky. 'Freak Show' is a thrill gin and high-speed electro looper, while deeper atmospheres pervade the slower 'Cleanin' Up', jazzy overtones of 'Real Thang' and then last of all is the title cut with its spinning hi-hats, funky breaks and boogie bass.

Review: Ninja Tune favourite and sometime lo-fi house pin-up DJ Seinfeld continues to prove he was always about so much more with a new collab alongside Confidence Man that he describes as "quirky, naive and an ode to all the summer flings out there". It came about after the pair hung out a few times and enjoyed each other's company and the tun itself has already been something of a mini classic during festival season. As well as the original with its catchy drum loops, pop leaning vocal hooks and lush strings, there is a cheeky UK garage version that has even more irresistible bump and a Carlita remix that reworks into something different but equally essential.

Now Subterranean Playhouse has put together a collection of his most influential works across the juke and footwork spectrum on one vital 12". 'Bang Dem Walls' kicks off in signature style with hard-hitting rhythms and ghetto vocals. 'Like It Raw (feat DJ Deeon - 2002 remix)' is another hardcore dancefloor banger with jittery rhythms and turbocharged stabs and 'On The Low (feat Double AC & DJ PJ)' is exactly the sort of short but sweet and impactful jam that DJ Slufo is such a master of.

Review: Mark Grusane presence on Disctechno brings with it a compilation of five unique house tracks from Chicago and Detroit-based producers, as you will probably have guessed from the title. The A-side features DJ Slush's synth-driven 'Memory Blank' and Deon Jamar's bass-heavy 'AYYYO' which offer different but both killer sounds. The B-side opens with Jordan Zawideh's reverb-drenched 'Axolotls' followed by Grusane's intense, atonal 'The Recoil' and concludes with Thomas Xu's groovy 'School Street.' Review: Inhale Exhale bring six full new circular round-trip breaths to the fold, focusing on heartwarming and soulful summer deep house tunes. Intended mostly for outdoor disco BBQs, 'INEX 017' packs a fruitful punch. Opening proceedings on the A come 'Make It Right', 'Understand U' and 'Tears Of The M1', a power-of-three intro tracking a vibeful descension from crystalline waters, synth organs and high string samples down to the chillest of vinyl-crackly, primal mini tech moods. Then there's the unmissable mirror image on the B, podding 'Everytime', 'Clyde' and 'Keep The Stabs', the last of which is an especially delicious, refractive groove.

Review: Oozing with slippery sound design and euphoric exudate, Andrey Djackonda, Etzu Mahkayah, and TooRare team up for a next-gen talent demo in EP form, well and truly showing any other upstart how trancey-prog-minimal house is and should indeed be done. Said to have been designed to create a feeling of uplift and positivity - and yet in our opinion, the record touches on relatively more neutral and trancier moods, ones which could go either way - the likes of 'Que Le Jour Se Leve' and 'Sunrise In Amsterdam' are highly maximised, entelechic tech-trance progressors, highlt reflective of the verve and dedicated so far enshrined in the work of Saint Petersburg label MixCult.

Review: Dragutesku's deft take on minimal is a mix of the abstract and the surreal if this EP is much to go on. 'Ecliptic' comes first as a vocal mix and is all backlit synth glows, fizzing synths and distant, heart-aching hooks with thumping drum loops front and centre. It is pure passion but also comes as a dub for more late night sets. On the flip is a Traumer mix that rewires the track into a rickety and loopy rhythm fleshed out with smeared pads and last of all is 'Jazzofil', a more downbeat and experimental cut full of weird and wonderful sound sources.

Their Ultralucid Paris EP is an old school house workout that starts with the acid-laced title track with its early Chicago drums and dark vocals. 'Good Morning England' then winds up the energy levels with more wonky synths and brain-frying acid lines and then the EP closes with flip-side jam 'Dramacid' featuring the one and only San Proper. Review: Inspired by "cosmic vibes and alien sounds", Cut Line Records is a freshly minted imprint founded by New York-based producers Majak and Diego Knows. Wisely, they've decided to set their stall out via a multi-artist EP that offers more than a few hints about what we can expect to hear in the months and years ahead. Naturally, they contribute, rounding off the EP via the collaborative 'Electrik Funk', a smooth, spacey and sub-heavy slab of tech-house funk marked out by cut-up vocal snippets, intergalactic-sounding motifs and rubbery beats. There's plenty to set the pulse racing across the rest of the EP though, from the acid-flecked tech-house funkiness of Pedro Goya's 'Celeste', to the star-fall haziness of Digital Pimps electro roller 'Warning Bells', via the electro-goes-breakbeat shuffle of 'Alien Vision' by Frankula and St Xose.

Review: The album that started it all for Daft Punk sure explains why they were one of the biggest acts in dance music for so long. Even now, all these years later, it is still a mind blowing work that blew electonic music wide open. Homework landed in 1997 and showcased astonishing production skills, a dizzyingly wide-array of influences and spawned plenty of stone cold dance classics such as 'Around The World,' 'Da Funk' and 'Teachers' which shouted out all of the French duo's biggest influences.

Review: Daft Punk's defining album comes directly from the horses' mouths, seeing a new vinyl edition in 2022 released via the ex-duo's own Daft Life Ltd. label. With no frills or fluff, every original track on their third album from 2001 appears here in crunching glory, not sounding an inch rougher or time-weathered. Aptly, 'Discovery' was described by the duo as a reflection of their childhood memories, when they listened to music with a more innocent ear; 20 years on, Discovery can certainly be said to have lived up to that original inspiration.

Review: Originally released in 2003, Daft Club was the first official compilation of any Daft Punk material, and they chose to gather together some of their most prominent remixes from the likes of The Neptunes, Cosmo Vitelli, Basement Jaxx and Slum Village along with a few other exclusives and obscurities like 'Aerodynamite' and 'Overture'. It's a must for any fan, especially now we know (or at least assume) there won't be any more DP material to come in the future. Repressed to fox the resellers, you can finally grab this one on wax once more, and you don't need to be told it's packed full of bangers.

Review: We find it hard to believe it's taken Daft Punk all these years to compile all their favourite remixes of 'Homework' onto a single album, but they've finally done it. This up-and-comer remix double album compiles myriad interpretations of three of the helmed robo-crusaders' most iconic tunes - Around The World, Revolution 909 and Burnin', specifically - from artists as unexpected as DJ Sneak, I:Cube and Masters At Work. Don't miss this one, as it's set to be a raucous spinal-scratchy affair.

Review: French game-changers Daft Punk's tours are always some of the most iconic in all of dance music. They took the band around the world at the height of their powers and in 1997 they dropped a live recording from one of the shows in Birmingham on November 8th. It contains a 45-minute excerpt of recorded during Daftendirektour which the band themselves said was one of their favourite ever live gigs. Plenty of their biggest hits of the time make the cut such as Homework cuts like 'Da Funk', 'Rollin' & Scratchin'', 'Revolution 909' and 'Alive' but they all sound vastly different when played live.

Review: Now celebrating its ten year anniversary, there's a sobering realisation to the fact that the swan song LP from French robo-duo Daft Punk is already a decade old. While divisive amongst the fan base, the organic instrumentation and sonic homage to classic disco still feels like a creative endeavour the pair of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo needed to add to their catalogue before graciously bowing out (or powering down) on their own terms. Following the expansive deluxe edition already released earlier in the year, this drumless version strips away any and all notable percussion to allow the velvety basslines, glistening synths and retro grooves to take centre-stage. With re-imagined approaches to hits such as 'Instant Crush' (featuring The Strokes' Julian Casablancas) as well as the myriad of Pharrell Williams collaborative bangers from 'Lose Yourself To Dance' to the once inescapable 'Get Lucky', the project is a unique and vital addition for lifers, newcomers and boogie enthusiasts alike.

Review: The fourth and final studio album from the now disbanded French electronic duo, Daft Punk, Random Access Memory gets a re-release on Sony complete with an exclusive poster and 16-page booklet. This release pays tribute to late 1970s and early 1980s American music, particularly the sounds hailing from Los Angeles at the time. For this seismic album, the band developed and enriched the minimalist production style typical of their previous releases though collaborating with session musicians performing live instrumentation, limiting the use of electronic instruments to simple drum machines, a custom-built modular synthesiser, and their signature vintage vocoders. Spanning an impressive selection of genres from disco, to prog rock and pop, the album also boasts a serious list of chart-topping collaborators - from Nile Rodgers, to Pharrell Williams, to Giorgio Moroder. Featuring hit single, 'Get Lucky', this album is already considered a defining release of the 2010s pop/electronic landscape.

Review: 'Alive 2007' is known as one of the most influential live albums ever, and this new reissue via Daft Punk's parent label Daft Life cements that influence. Performed at the French venue Bercy, we feel much harder, better, faster and stronger as we listen eagerly to the the pair's signature talkboxes, samples and hooks, this time drenched in crowd jeers and natural reverb. In this instance, Daft Punk manipulated their established material, transposing and deconstructing the structures of their studio tracks and paving the way for the future of live electronic music performance.

Review: With each album, Daft Punk threw down something new for their mammoth fanbase to deal with. Never ones to repeat themselves or play it safe, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo ruffled feathers when they followed up the pop-tastic heights of Discovery with the rock-tinted stylings of Human After All. In hindsight, with the world-beating project brought to an end, the album sounds like Daft Punk through and through, not least on lead single 'Robot Rock', but full credit to them for not taking the easy route to give the fans what they want. As we reflect on the legacy of one of the biggest dance acts of all time, it's a fine time to revisit this album with a sparkling new pressing as part of the Daft Life Ltd series.

Review: Phonotheque Records presents Juan Dairecshion (a pseudonym of Juan Bozzolasco) with 'El Metodo' for its eighth release, laying down an extremely well-crafted, tenebrous techno, house and tech house spine-tingler for the sensitive ear come nervous system. The Uruguayan producer is said to possess a broad range, flaunting an ability to indulge both club-ready rhythms and darker, deeper moments, and this is more than laid bare on the exposition 'Low Pression', coining a brilliant new cognate of "pressure" while opting for a kickless, sinister tension, its space-age SFX and eerie percussions landing the tune somewhere between Roswell and a New York alleyway. Things get more orthodox from there, though the record never once lets up on its eerie dance dramatics; 'Nostalgico', 'Re-progre', 'UBM' and 'It's All About Love' are the increasingly ethereal highlights among them, as the record grows weirder and weirder, hollower and hollower.

Infusing influences from Africa, Asia, and Latin America with European techno and house, Dominik's signature sound shines through. The album's inception came after a fateful encounter with Algerian vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Chakib Bouzidi at a festival in Basel. Despite Chakib's untimely passing, Dominik continued the project, honouring his memory by completing the work. Infused with Chakib's voice notes and collaborative recordings, the album serves as a heartfelt tribute and through resilient collaboration and creative influence it emerges as a fine collection of globally influenced dance music.

Originally from Buffalo, NY, the tasteful producer was a pioneer of Deep4Life, a Chicago-based cult label known for deep, dance floor-oriented productions and he is still turning out just that on new LP Wander Being. It's full of smoky pads, cuddly drums and bottomless grooves that hypnotise mind and body while warming the soul to its core.

He mixes up Detroit vibes and minimal grooves and has done for more than 30 years. Back in the early days he worked with the notorious Lowtec and was at the heart of the DIY scene in East Germany. Now some of his best work from that time gets reissued on this fine double album which is a quality blend of emotive house groves, loose-limbed tech workouts and immersive downtempo soundscapes.

Recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic at the legendary G-Son studios in Atwater Village LA, Glossolalia is a timely and uplifting call-to-action that reflects the turbulent times we live in. With its twisted grooves and every song's lyrics in complete gibberish, Glossolalia takes listeners on a complex and nuanced sonic journey that leaves us with as many questions as answers. It is a testament to the power of collaborative music-making and a reminder that, despite our differences, we are united by our love of music and our shared human experiences.

Review: While he's still associated with the club-ready 'French Touch' sound he helped develop in the late 1990s, Etienne De Crecy has always had a much wider musical palette - as the legendary Super Discount series of albums proved. On Warm Up, his first new album for six years, the French veteran has leaned into this, delivering an album of songs designed to be listened to at home during the day. Of course, there are still nods to his dancefloor roots, but more pop hooks, nods to hip-hop, electro-pop and the lower tempo end of the nu-disco spectrum. More significantly, there are vocals throughout, delivered by an impressive cast list that includes Damon Albarn, Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, Sports, Frank Leone and Kero Kero Bonito.

Review: Super Discount was the hugely influential 1996 debut album by Etienne de Crecy. Several more volumes came and helped to define the French scene of the ear and they remain great inspirations to this day as De Crecy's work very much propagated certain other genres, from scratchy filter-house a la Daft Punk to the jazzier house genre of St Germain. This second volume is packed with plenty of names who helped to define the early French electronic scene such as Alex Gopher & Julien Delfaud, Philippe Zdar and DJ Mehdi. It's raw electro house that fizzes and spits with potent dancefloor scuzziness and energy even now.

His debut album in 1996 brought all new sounds and references and set in motion a revolution that spawned everything from classic French touch to jazzy deep house by Saint Germain via what went on to become the Ed Banger-aligned electro house of Justice et al. It all started with the first volume of Super Discount and carried on through further volumes such as this third one which is as searing and vital now as ever.

Including some of the helmeted spectacle's most enduring contribution to the dance music world from the era - including 'Some Chords', 'Animal Rights' with Wolfgang Gartner, 'Sofi Needs A Ladder', and 'Raise Your Weapon' with Greta Svabo Bech - the overall 11 tracks here are a worthy blast from the past, documenting the juncture at which Zimmerman moved on from huge walls of emotive progressive house gush, and segwayed into a techier, more mathematical sound befitting of electro house verging on complextro.

Review: The first Decius album, released back in 2022, was a rare beast: an album by an electronic music 'supergroup' (in this case Fat White Family's Lias Saoudi, Paranoid London's Quinn Whalley and Liam and Luke May of Trashmouth Records fame) that more than lived up to its promise. The simply titled Decius Vol II, a genuinely hotly anticipated sequel, more than lives up to its' predecessor, delivering a suite of songs rooted in nostalgic, strobe-lit acid house, moody synth-pop, clanking industrial funk, red-raw jack tracks and the ghostly minimalism of early bleep techno. It's that rarest of things: leftfield club-pop that sounds as glorious on a gloomy Wednesday morning at home as it does booming out of the soundsystem at Berghain.

Review: Released in 1994, Deee-Lite's follow-up to their colossal hit 'Groove Is In The Heart' and the World Clique album that contained it finds the trio taking a more adventurous route of funky rhythms, electronic experimentation and blissful psychedelic vibes. Tracks like 'River of Freedom' tap into a carefree dancefloor energy, while 'Picnic In The Summertime' evokes sun-soaked nostalgia, its bouncy beat an effortless backdrop to the dreamy, carefree lyrics. Deee-Lite's willingness to explore genres and sounds is evident throughout, with samples from The Orb and Carl Craig, among others, meshing seamlessly with live instrumentation and infectious grooves. One of the album's defining features is its ability to balance quirk with cool. The smooth transition in 'Somebody,' where the track slows down into a human beatbox rhythm, exemplifies the experimental nature of the band. And then there's the entrancing 'Party Happening People,' a track full of playful vibes, layered synths, and an unmistakable 90s energy. This isn't just for fans of the groupiit's a record that captures the essence of the 90s club scene. A perfect soundtrack to the era's fashion and carefree spirit, its sounds still hit fresh today, reminding us of the euphoric, experimental days of early electronic music. For anyone who has ever found themselves lost in the vibe of house, techno, or the club, this collection is essential listening.
