Review: When Cymande gathered to record A Little Act of Faith, it marked their first combined studio session for 40 years. Given the high esteem in which their 1970s material is held, it was a risky move. It seems, though, that they've lost none of their skill for crafting decidedly cosmic, fragrant blends of dub, reggae, jazz, funk and soul. While there's nothing here to topple classics such as "Dove", "Fug", and "The Message", it's still a hugely enjoyable and pleasingly blazed set. Highlights are plentiful, from the soulful, dub-influenced, deep jazz-funk loveliness of "Everybody's Doing Alright", and heart aching piano lament "No Weeping", to the glistening guitars, chanted vocals and trademark hazy horns of "Everybody Turn Rasta".
