The stylus is the single most important point of contact between your records and the rest of your hi-fi system, converting the grooves into electrical signals via your cartridge. Styluses – also known as styli or sometimes needles – wear out with use and can be damaged, which means it’s often essential to replace the stylus on your cartridge. A worn stylus is also very likely to damage your records permanently, harming the sound quality even further.
Audiophile brands including Audio-Technica, Goldring and Nagaoka offer replacement styluses for their own cartridges, while third-party brands such as Kyowa and Tonar offer other options. Replacement is a simple process of removing the old stylus and attaching the new one, taking just a few seconds to carry out but ensuring that your turntable delivers optimal performance and getting the best sound from your vinyl.
Notes: All Prestige series styli are compatible; any of these styli will work in any Prestige body. All the Styli; Green, Black, Red, Blue & Silver Styli. The performance difference translates into real sonic improvements; as you move up the Prestige line, the sound becomes smoother, more open and more detailed.
Genuine replacement styli for all Grado Prestige cartridges including black, green, blue, red, silver and gold
A worn stylus can cause serious (irreversible) damage to your records, and provide poor sound quality

What's the difference between Black3 and Green3?
Approximately 15% of the Black3 production run meet higher specifications. These are hand selected from the batch and designated as Green3.
Grado's OTL, or optimized transmission line, technology provides an ideal transfer of signal from the surface of the LP to the generator of the system. This technology rejects unwanted resonances and lowers distortion preserving the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of the music. This also helps keep noise generated by the motor system in the cartridge to a minimum.
Grado's OTL stylus/cantilever design makes records sound quieter, improves the height, width, and depth of the soundstage, and present more detail than previously obtainable.
The Green3 is hand assembled by Grado's team in Brooklyn, with some builders having over 25 years of experience. This updated series of cartridges offers excellent tonal balance, dynamics, and realism, for a most rewarding reproduction of vocals and instruments. The coil winding techniques using ultra high purity copper wire, which were honed during the development of the Lineage Series, have let the electrical circuits achieve unison between the four coils in each phono cartridge. This allows for a precise balance between channels and accurate stereo imaging.
As in all Grado phono cartridges the Green3 is powered by a twin magnet system that optimizes the balance between stereo channels. All internal magnetic circuit parts are held to extremely high tolerances creating the desired stereo imaging. Grado's patented Flux-Bridger design allows the Green3 to have one of the lowest effective moving mass generating systems while creating an excellent balance throughout the full frequency range.
