Circle Of Dust
Review: Formed in 2020, Tommy Paslaski, Ben Paulson and Akeem Asani have evolved their sound as Purelink from dub techno and '90s drum 'n bass to vaporous jazz and post-rock elements. Their second album embraces fluidity by mixing live instrumentation and vocals with their signature ambient and rhythmic experimentation. It also reflects a period of upheaval as they moved from Chicago to New York City and went on to incorporate acoustic and electric elements alongside contributions from Loraine James and poet Angelina Nonaj. Tracks like 'First Iota' and 'Kite Scene' explore evolving, atmospheric soundscapes and the album culminates in the rather more euphoric 'Circle of Dust'.

Cosa Rara (feat David Sylvian)
Cosa Rara (En La Playa)
Cosa Rara (Matias Aguayo Dopamine dub)
Review: Described as a "limitless" musician by RVNG International, Colombia-born sound artist Lucrecia Dalt has done well to align herself with this description so far. Since 2012, she's produced an average of one album per every other year or so, and that's not to mention her various electronic pop and sound designer EP detours for stopover outfits like Hanson and Deceptions Order Blank. The now Berliner suggests the emergence of yet another LP with a prefigurative two tracks, shared on the B-side by multi-instrumentalist Mabe Fratti. Also with covetous guest prod by ambient pop legend and former Japan-fronting icon David Sylvian, Dalt brings a strange distillation of Latin lyricism and breathalysed electronica on 'Cosa Rara', with vacuumed handclaps and surreal ghost-post-prod, proferring a "thrilling escapade of sound and psychology".

Review: London experimental and deep/minimal house innovator-continuator Matthew Herbert teams up with drummer and vocalist Momoko Gill - a self-taught musician with ties to Coby Sey and Tirzah - for a rawly real new record, Clay, as ever drawing on not just the textures of daily life, but also unconventional sound sources. As is typical for Herbert and his discog-wide interest in domestic sounds, we hear everyday foleys and realist samples utilised with efficiency, from kotos to basketballs, as Gill's voice carries across the eleven tracks a disarming clarity, from the layered arrangements of 'Mowing' to the up-close harmonies of 'Heart'. The pair previously collaborated on 2024's 'Fallen' and Gill's remix of Herbert's 'The Horse Is Here', but this is their first full-length release as a duo.

Review: Formed from the ashes of Throbbing Gristle in the early 80s and later based in Weston-super-Mare, Coil remain one of the UK's most enigmatic experimental outfitsicombining ambient electronics, industrial rhythm and spoken-word surrealism into something ritualistic and deeply unclassifiable. This 2xLP reissue revives their final studio work, first issued in incomplete CD-R form in 2004 before being completed by Peter Christopherson and Danny Hyde in 2006 following the death of Jhonn Balance. Compared to the sprawling mysticism of their earlier catalogue, these tracks are leaner, sharperishaped by the influence of live performance and Christopherson's then-new fascination with digital production. 'The Gimp (Sometimes)' creeps through looped distortion and narcotic drone, while 'Teenage Lightning (10th Birthday Version)' refracts a prior track into a marimba-laced polyrhythmic pulse. The two-part 'Sex With Sun Ra' threads jazz reverence through throbbing synthesis, balancing paranoia and humour. 'All the Pretty Little Horses' is perhaps their most unexpected coveria whispered lament based on a traditional lullaby that closes the circle on Coil's fragile, feral grace. This isn't an archival exercise, but a document of Coil's transformationiwhere live-band muscle, software trickery and deep emotional currents pull their sound somewhere new. The result is bleak, bold, and eerily accessible by Coil standards.

Mixes Of A Lost World
Cat: 758644 2.
Review: More than four decades after he first appeared in smudged eyeliner and a mop of jet-black hair, Robert Smith is still finding new ways to pull his music apart and stitch it back together. This new remix collection i assembled and curated by Smith himself i feels less like a victory lap and more like a restless dissection of a legacy he's still actively shaping. The collaborators here are hardly incidental: Four Tet, Orbital, Ame, Chino Moreno, Mura Masa, Trentemoller, Mogwai. It reads like a list built by someone still hungrily tuned into the present, not stuck in the past. And true to form, the results are all over the place i a feature, not a flaw. Some tracks lean into grandeur: Paul Oakenfold's take on 'I Can Never Say Goodbye' opens with all the sweeping melodrama you'd expect, while Daybreakers stretch 'WarSong' into widescreen synthwork. Elsewhere, Shanti Celeste and Ex-Easter Island Head bring a strange intimacy to 'Alone', teasing out its ache with a different kind of spaciousness. At times, you wonder if Smith enjoys seeing how far his work can be bent before it breaks. But it never does i even filtered through others' hands, his sense of tension, drama and deep emotional unease holds everything together.

Review: Veteran northern duo Autechre, long associated with the most fractured corners of electronic music, offer something unexpectedly generous and inviting here. It's a new release that feels looser, more exploratory i less about total deconstruction and more about spontaneous sketching. Tracks are shorter, often playful, but never throwaway. 'Altibzz' and 'Rale' shimmer with impressionistic calm, while the stuttering mechanics of 'The Plc' and 'Tankakern' reveal a groove-minded touch that leans into early hip-hop and electro without ever mimicking it. There's real warmth to the sequencing too. Ideas emerge, recede and reappear with fluidity, allowing moments like 'Paralel Suns' or 'Notwo' to hit with emotional weight on repeat listens. For a group known for density and abstraction, this feels unusually personal. The production is still meticulous, of course: fine-grained details in the percussion, depth in the spatial design, layers that unfold slowly over time. Autechre haven't gone soft i they've just made space. And in doing so, they've created something genuinely moving. It's a joy to hear two artists so synonymous with machine complexity turn towards something more human, more intuitive and arguably more lasting.

Review: Released without a hint of fanfare first time round in 2021, this deeply intimate collaboration between Ukrainian vocalist Yana Pavlova and Berlin-based producer Pavel Milyakov continues to command attention, almost of its own accord. Built out of minimal guitar patterns, submerged dub-influenced bass and spectral saxophone contributions from Alex Zhang Hungtai, the LP unfolds through a mix of improv and aleatory algo-synthesis, where rather than smoothing over imperfections, the artists lean into them; mic rustle, background clicks and ambient irregularities all inform on its dark jazzy, trancelike post-humanoid atmos.

Review: A collaboration rooted in intuition, Clay finds UK experimentalist Matthew Herbert and South London drummer-vocalist Momoko Gill stepping into strange, emotionally vivid territory, stretching the song form into new shapes on their first full-length collaborationi a record that's as textural as it is emotional. Built from improvised sessions and strange source materialiJapanese kotos, basketballs, domestic clatterithe music feels both homespun and futuristic. 'Calm Water' opens with uncanny stillness before 'Need To Run' and 'Mowing' introduce a kind of fractured longing. Gill's voice dances above the dust-clouded rhythms of 'More And More' and 'Heart', sometimes like a jazz phrasing exercise, other times like something closer to prayer. Even the more dancefloor-leaning momentsi'Babystar', 'Show Me', 'Someone Like You'iremain intimate, the spaces between notes stretching wide. On 'Animals' and 'Circle Shore', they seem to hover in slow-motion, guided by instinct and restraint. It's a record with no interest in genre boundaries, powered by instinct and a quiet refusal to settle.

Review: Originally issued in skeletal form as a CD-R in 2004 and completed posthumously by Peter Christopherson and Danny Hyde in 2006, this reissue captures Coil's final studio-era transformation i leaner, sharper and pulled into strange rhythmic shapes by live performance energy and Ableton-era experimentation. The Weston-super-Mare collective, once studio-bound, now wrangle blown-out beats, sampled horns and hurdy-gurdy into ceremonial, fractured pop. 'The Gimp (Sometimes)' and 'Teenage Lightning (10th Birthday Version)' hum with unstable joy; 'Sex With Sun Ra (Part One - Saturnalia)' becomes a dense, writhing invocation; its sequel folds in eerie pipe drones and Christopherson's heavy edits. The 'Wraiths and Strays' pair trace the evolution from rehearsal to stage, adding field recordings, live vocals and modular sprawl. Even their lullaby cover, 'All the Pretty Little Horses', feels raw and revelatory. This is Coil at their most vulnerable and direct, embracing rhythm and song form without compromising strangeness i a defiant, dreamlike document of a band pushing forward even as time ran out.

Review: Welsh duo ddwy - Naomi and Ronan - continue their slow-burn rise with a luminous four-tracker that fuses ambient shimmer with dubwise propulsion. 'Beaming Backwards' opens on a melodic tip, weaving arpeggiated pads around a restrained but propulsive groove. 'Stars Stars' leans hazier, its synth textures and soft-focus rhythms blurring the line between dream pop and deep house. On the B-side, 'Peak Smile' introduces low-slung bass and echo chamber FX, pushing their sound into more dubbed-out territory. Final track 'Heuldro'r Haf' (Welsh for "summer solstice") floats in beatless form - misty, delicate, and grounded by a sense of melancholic stasis. Having previously appeared on Munich's Public Possession, ddwy now offer their most balanced and evocative work to date, signalling a quietly assured presence in the continuum of melodic, leftfield UK electronica.

Things We Never Had
Review: This clear vinyl edition offers a new window into Coil's final evolutionary phaseibased in Weston-super-Mare during the early 2000s, their output here feels tighter and more tactile than ever. What began as a limited CD-R release during the 2004 "Even an Evil Fatigue" live series was ultimately completed in 2006 by Peter Christopherson and Danny Hyde after Jhonn Balance's death, turning what was once described as an "album-in-progress" into a posthumous masterwork. Unlike Coil's early abstract work, this material pulses with live-band energy and digital precision. 'Sex With Sun Ra (Part One - Saturnalia)' slinks through throbbing synths and sci-fi mysticism, while its sequel, 'Part Two - Sigillaricia', filters York's pipes through glitching software landscapes. Thighpaulsandra's signature synthesis courses through 'The Wraiths And Strays Of Paris', now reborn from live tapes, while 'Teenage Lightning (10th Birthday Version)' spins its ritualistic rhythm into something surprisingly euphoric. The clear pressing suits this materialitransparent, crackling with ghosts, and shimmering with light. It's Coil at their most direct and perhaps most emotionally affecting: a group confronting mortality and rebirth through sound, retooling their vision with software, breath, and loss.

Review: New Jersey's DJ Haram returns with a full-length offering that smoulders with fury, grief and defiance. Fusing the frenetic intensity of club music with Middle Eastern instrumentation, noise, punk and spoken word, she steers her signature chaos into darker and more focused terrain. Tracks like 'Stenography' and 'IDGAF' carry political weight in their grainy, serrated basslines, while collaborations with artists like Armand Hammer, Moor Mother and Bbymutha add barbed edges and emotional heft. Aquiles Navarro's trumpet on 'Remaining' lends a cinematic touch, contrasting with the searing distortions of 'Loneliness Epidemic'. Haram's production is consistently dense and vividitambourines crash against Jersey Club kicks, verses collapse into ambience, synths and darbuka blur into one. Yet amid the disorientation, there's clarity in her purpose: this is music as resistance, as rupture, as communal mourning and ecstatic release. From the whispered opening to the haunted final exhale of 'Deep Breath (An Ending)', it's a confrontational, often overwhelming listenibut never less than vital.

Review: This is Sophie at her most unruly and most exacting. Originally released 2019, three years before her untimely death, the Glasgow-born producer disassembles her debut and reanimates it as a 94-minute, two-part odyssey, veering from hydraulic club destroyers to delicate ambient unspoolings. Originally released in 2019, it's not just a remix collection but a wholesale reinvention: self-authored, nonlinear, and often sublime. 'Ponyboy (Megadog)' thrashes through chrome-plated rhythms with chaotic grace, while 'Infatuation (Midnight Zone)' pulls back into pure atmosphere, full of liquid clarity and hushed suspense. There's a tactile, metallic intensity to everything here i especially on 'Faceshopping (Euphoric Reduce Me To Nothingness Remix)', which warps the original's plasticity into something wilder and more abstract. The album's sequencing mimics the logic of a club set, but what lingers most is the emotional palette: euphoric, alien, intimate. Sophie's sound across the project fuses dancetechnoambienthouse into a sculptural, shape-shifting form that foregrounds identity and sensation. At a time when many remix albums serve as filler, this stands apart: fiercely curated, radically personal and technically peerless.

Review: London-based Erased Tapes stalwart Rival Consoles crafts electronic music with an emotional core, bridging the human and the synthetic in a way few can. His ninth album channels a renewed creative energy, emerging from a period of detachment to produce some of his most immediate and affecting work. 'Catherine' flickers with a stripped-back intimacy, its exposed melody riding skittish drums, while 'Known Shape' lunges into unfamiliar rhythmic terrain. The title track, a euphoric closer, marks the point where hesitation turns into catharsis. Elsewhere, '2 Forms' bends and fractures under its own weight, and 'In a Trance' locks into an off-kilter, hypnotic pulse. Field recordings and unconventional techniquesidrums dampened on a sofa, tape loops capturing shifting room acousticsilend a tactile quality to the album, reinforcing its sense of place. Each piece feels like a snapshot, an artefact from a restless journey, where nostalgia and forward momentum collide in vivid bursts of colour.

Review: Kyntral is a co-founder of the so-far so-sophisticated Argentinian label Danza Nativa and he serves up a deeply immersive trip here. 'Inner Depths' is liquid deep techno in the mould of Neel or Donato Dozzy. Percolating rhythms and dubby undercurrents subsume mind and body while deft little details place you underwater. 'Bloodstone' is a little more lumpy with gentle smattering of percussion of drums that bump. 'Ancient Apparition' is a spacious sound with wispy pads disappearing to infinity, glassy tinkles and undulating drums all getting you into a meditative state. The Patrick Russell Phantom remix is more warped and dark to add a nice counterpoint.

Review: This album from Bernard Parmegiani, a pioneering French composer and key figure in electroacoustic and musique concrete, finally gets a full issue from humble origins as a 1992 radio braodcast and then a CDR-only release in 1994. Though this collection is part of fellow Frenchman and film director Emmanuel Raquin-Lorenzi's larger Lac Noir project - an expansive multimedia work inspired by a mythical Transylvanian 'snake-woman' - every piece here is entirely Parmegiani's own. Across nine tracks, he sculpts vivid, shape-shifting environments where texture and motion take precedence over conventional melody. 'La Traversee' and 'Le Cercle' unravel with an organic fluidity, while 'Tsiganie' and 'Rouge Et Blanc' introduce fragmented rhythms that pulse beneath layers of manipulated sound. A pioneer of musique concrete, Parmegiani's work has left a lasting imprint on artists like Aphex Twin and Autechre, and here, his command of electroacoustic space remains as striking as ever-an intricate, deeply immersive listen that continues to influence generations of experimentalists.

Review: Comprised of saxophonist Sami Pekkola, double bassist Eero Tikkanen, electric guitarist Topias Tiheasalo and drummer Veeti Hietala, a young talent steeped in the country's experimental tradition, Phardah are a fresh yet seasoned ensemble from Finland who merge free azz with a psychedelic edge. Their debut release captures the energy of their raw, collective musicianship. Recorded by Teemu Markkula of Death Hawks, the band channels an expansive and free-spirited sound that swings between intense improvisation and nuanced composition. From the opening moments, the tracks allow the music to breathe, and the group explores vast sonic landscapes, where Tiheasalo's intricate guitar work steers the flow, aided by the groovy, pulsing rhythm section. The material showcases Phardah's signature balance of abstraction and clarity. The music flows with organic ease, moving from frenetic bursts to meditative grooves. Side B in particular elevates this fluidity, as the band captures an otherworldly energy, blending improvisational chaos with deliberate structure. Markkula's mix enhances the sense of vast space in the recordings, allowing each instrument to be fully heard while maintaining the group's united, bold sound. Phardah's live energy, first ignited at the 2023 Odysseus Festival, is palpable, and their sound resonates deeply with the spirit of Free Jazz, evoking both a sense of chaos and catharsis. Their debut serves as a striking introduction to a band that thrives in the moment and pushes musical boundaries.

Review: Aura Sonora return with a second release to follow up the fantastic first one, this time it brings together two meticulous studio craftsmen, DYL & Tammo Hesselink. Their Moire Patterns EP kicks off with 'Pattern 1', a deep and rhythmic slice of rubbery techno that rides broken beats with atmospheric pulses up top. 'Pattern 2 slows down to a predatory crawl with icy pads making fro a dystopian vibe then 'Pattern 3' brings a sense of mystic tribal ritual deep in some futuristic jungle and 'Pattern 4' closes down with more fantastically crafted, dubby, broken rhythms that are topped with organic percussion and almost impossible not to move to. Pure rhythm science brilliance.

Review: There is a delightful lightness of touch to these deep dubwise explorations on the newly emerging False Aralia label, set up by Brian Foote, who founded US leftfield institution Peak Oil. Drums lap like gentle waves, synths unfurl as softly as passing clouds and smudged, ghostly vocals from Loveshadow's Anya Prisk bring romance. 'Externalism 02' is brilliantly wistful - barely there pads hint at emotional pain but dissipate before you hurt too much. 'Externalism 03' is a more lo-fi and minimal work with shuffling drums and murky low ends coalescing into a tender and bubbling soundscape then 'Externalism 04' is a sonic collage that is always shifting its focus from flickering candles to blurry pads. Hugely experimental but warmly comforting sounds.

We don't know who or what Iri Gram is but we do know having listened to this that they make intricately designed dub, minimal, ambient and sound art fusions that sound like nothing else but also conjur up familiar feelings and nostalgia for forgotten memories. All four are couched in dub with wispy melodies and frayed edges, smudged surfaces and poly rhythms that range from slow and bubbly to more urgent and fractured. They all endlessly mutate and leave you lost in a whole new sound world but wanting more.

Review: "The most personal truths I have explored to date are found within those lines," says Lucrecia Dalt on course to the ribbon cutting release moment of her new record A Danger To Ourselves. Written in early 2024, in the afterglow of touring her last record iAy! and the blush of a new relationship, the album swaps abstract narration for lyric fragments jotted on the move, with decided love declarations shaped through looping rhythms, spare harmonic scaffolds and granular-synthesised voices. The right hand of one David Sylvian is heard co-producing and guiding several of the tracks, lending a kind of spectral ballast, while other of Dalt's fellows and contemporaries such as Juana Molina, Camille Mandoki and Eliana Joy help anchor the record's quieter emotional spikes. With Alex Lazaro again on drums, the skeletal pulse returns, but it's now contoured by string swells and chamber addenda, making for a refreshing detox record.

Review: Finnish guitarist, tech and visual artist Ville Valavuo's Commemoration Songs plays back like a diary scrawled in sound, traversing eight pieces shaped by disillusion, exhaustion and flickers of hope in a world driven by profit and hollow spectacle. Tracing through recordings made over three sessions in 2024, the record layers free jazz sax lines with soft-focus analogue synth and Rhodes motifs, as well as echo-soaked percussion and sinewy basslines. The record's title nods to a darker irony: honouring the architects of a world-system that survives by immanentising its own violence. As if to match the fact, Valavuo handles nearly everything himself, from tenor and alto sax to shakuhachi, clarinet, programming, and even the front cover layout.

Review: WA guitarist Stephen O'Malley pushes his guitar sound higher, hanging it from newly hoisted electroacoustic wires. But Remember What You Have Had recalls dense, multiphonic textures curled about a well-tested acousmatic form, made millicent by past works with SUNN O))) and KTL, yet now with a newly cackly and electrical quality. O'Malley's new dialect speaks in polyphonic tensions, microtonal gerunds and furry semaphoria; tones stretch over overlapping strata, like a replicated tectonic drift. An arresting new chapter in a towering, conceptually crammed discography lent to the likes of Editions Mego and Drag City.

Review: After a year spent adrift, Rival Consoles - Ryan Lee West - returns with his ninth full-length, Landscape From Memory, and with it, a rekindled spark. Having stepped away from his self-built studio in Hackney amid the comforts of routine, West embroidered this record from scraps: demos recorded on the road, acoustic sketches caught through a laptop mic, grainy textures brass rubbed against lustrous synth tabula rasa. Leading light 'Catherine', a dedication to his partner, is bare and buoyant, following renewed processive energy. 'In a Trance', 'Known Shape' and 'Gaivotas' further flex West's fondness for propulsive rhythms and irregular sonics.

Review: Now expanded to a quartet, Kerala Dust trace a winding path through techno, Krautrock and smoky Americana, but this latest collection feels less like a genre exercise and more like a document of restlessness. Recorded across Tuscany, Austin, Berlin and Rome, it captures vocalist and chief electrician Edmund Kenny's songwriting at its most exposed: 'How The Light Gets In' is stripped and direct, drawing more from Springsteen than club culture. Elsewhere, 'Ours Are The Only Eyes That See' builds tension through repetition, like a Morricone score on a Berlin comedown. 'Pulse VI' and 'Future Visions' dial up the trip-hop unease, while 'April, 1992' feels like a half-remembered dream, sliding between synth murmurs and broken memories. There's an undercurrent of romance throughout, but it's haunted rather than hopeful. It's not all bleak though-the band sound looser, less mannered, with new members Tim Gardner (keys) and Pascal Karier (drums) helping stretch the group's dynamic. It's the sound of a band detaching from any fixed identity, and finding more clarity in the blur.

Review: New York's James K refines her ghostly, intimate style with a third full-length that feels like the clearest articulation of her vision to date. Shifting between whispery dream-pop, spectral ambient textures and flickers of trip-hop, the record sketches emotional states in soft, translucent layers. Tracks like 'Open My Heart' and 'Stupid' showcase her fluttering vocal delivery, drifting somewhere between presence and memory. 'Deeprose' works in slow, distorted waves, while 'I Don't Know' melts guitar lines into padded synths and downcast drums. The production is tactile but restrained-every detail placed with intent. Long affiliated with scenes between New York and Berlin, K has always moved obliquely; here she leans into clarity without surrendering subtlety. It's deeply personal music that never demands attention, but earns it slowly and fully.

Review: New York's James K returns with her third album and most complete vision to date-a fragile lattice of haunted vocals, ambient shoegaze and dream-state electronics that gently disorient and dissolve. While still rooted in the foggy intimacy of earlier work, these tracks feel more sculpted, like memory filtered through soft-focus reverb and delay. Her voice remains the anchor: breathy, flickering, always on the cusp of vanishing. Tracks like 'Deeprose' and 'Open My Heart' flicker with trip-hop melancholy, while the ghostly pulse of 'Stupid' or the vaporised chamber-pop of 'I Don't Know' suggest a private language unfolding in real time. There's a deliberate softness to everything here-compositions that move like weather, both enveloping and elusive. Long involved in the DIY scenes that trace between New York and Berlin, K distils years of collaborative texture into something singular and uncanny.

Review: French composer Michel Colombier's 1973 score returns in full force via Paris-based label Transversales Disques. Known for his outre hybrids and collaborative range, Colombier here locks into a particularly lush, cinematic strain of space-funk and downtempo psych. 'L'heritier', 'L'usine' and 'Kidnapping' pulse with wah-heavy guitars and serpentine Rhodes work, driven by a heavyweight rhythm section featuring Jannick Top and Claude Engel. There's something of Lalo Schifrin's cool undercurrent to the grooves, but Colombier leans more into mood than motif-letting restraint do the heavy lifting. The B-side takes a turn toward occult atmospheres with selections from his rare 'Tarot' score, including the eerie synth-led 'Incantation' and closing tension spiral of 'Tarot'. There's a kind of smoked-out paranoia across pieces like 'Blind Luck' and 'Reading The Cards', balanced by playful moments such as the loping clavinet of 'Doggie Style'. The inclusion of five unreleased cues only deepens the trip. This is vivid, textural music that glows with analogue heat and open-studio experimentation-jazz, prog, funk and giallo-noir threaded into a loose, hypnotic whole. Reissued with care, and rightly so. A gift for fans of vintage library sleaze and haunted groove.

Review: Cate Brooks continues her elegant exploration of imagined geographies with a suite of glacial, slow-blooming compositions that feel suspended between reality and dream. Built by the British musician primarily on Synclavier, Prophet and 808, these pieces evoke the hush and expanse of a far northern landscape with uncanny clarity-despite Brooks never having visited the region that inspired it. Tracks like 'Like Breathing Statues' and 'Aspect from the Window' suggest weather systems forming in slow motion, their textures layered and precise but never clinical. 'In the Blue Hour' moves with a quiet internal rhythm, almost ecclesiastical in tone, while 'Polar Night' closes the journey in dusk-lit stillness. There's something deeply solitary about the whole record-each sound shaped and weighted, but never forced. Brooks's background in synthesis lends a tactile, handmade feel to every element, creating something less like a travelogue and more like a lucid dream of place.

With 'CB Music' being previously available only on CD back in 2006 and a host of other unreleased edits and remixes, this is a juicy package of exclusivity and the music is indicative of their experimental, rule-breaking techno sound, full of life and imagination. 'The Pitch' kicks off with rugged drums and haunting synth notes, 'Radio Tirana' then layers spoken words into eerie synth modulations and moody drones and 'CB Music' is a slithering and minimal sound with retro-future chords. 'Broadcast All Electronic' shuts down with another wiry arrangement, bleeps, squeaks and the sound of muffled vocals and radio interference all adding an occult edge.

His counterpart solo project Hawksmoor incepted eight years ago as an imagined soundtrack to London’s six iconic Hawksmoor churches: great baroque houses of god, designed by famous English architect Nicholas Hawksmoor. But this new one breaks from the first’s particular focus for an absolutist toying with form: Experiments in Tape is his second release on Lunar Module and it continues to hear the artist forge burbling, modular sublime-scapes.

A rare, feral document of noise at its most combustible: no edits, no overdubs, just raw signal to collective destruction. Incapacitants - Toshiji Mikawa and Fumio Kosakai- open with a wall of full-spectrum chaos, sharp and seismic, whence as the intensity peaks, Mary enters, slicing through with her signature burn of texture and dread, pushing the set into new extremes. Less a blend, more an escalation into dread and void.

Review: Originally released in 2005, the northerm duo of Sean Booth and Rob Brown's eighth album was a return to the techno and electro roots that helped define them, after the way out experimentalism of Confield and Draft 7.30 gained a mixed reception This album featured beats that were hard, relentless and typically jittery and to many, this was the pinnacle of IDM beats. Experimenting with sound is what Autechre is truly about and Untitled is another stop along the way in what is one of electronica's greatest discographies.

Review: American avant torch singer Little Annie collects over four decades of collaborative drift on this unusually cohesive set, pairing with Marc Almond, Coil, Swans, Bonnie "Prince" Billy and others. The project balances Annie's broken-glamour vocal intimacy with the distinct language of each guest - from the choral unease of 'Some Things We Do' to the fragile synth-shadow of 'Things Happen'. 'Yesterday When I Was Young', recorded with Almond, is gorgeously undone, while Kid Congo powers 'The Weather The War' into a ghostly blues lurch. Two tracks with pianist Paul Wallfisch - 'The Soul Of August' and 'Isle Of Weeping Ladies' - find Annie at her most elegiac. What binds these pieces is mood: weary, smoke-curled, and cracked with grace. Mastered by Martin Siewert and wrapped in Little Annie's own paintings, the collection captures a singular voice moving through a lifetime of subcultural sound without ever retreating into pastiche or posturing.

Review: The first recorded meeting of Pierre Bastien (compositeur Parisien) and Casper Van De Velde's (Belgian drummer known for his outings on Qeerecords) documents two days of lowkey live-performed regalia at Werkplaats Walter in Brussels. Set up by Blickwinkel, the residency saw Bastien's "miniature mechanical orchestras" - trumpets, motors, Meccano arms, all of which make up the former artist's trademark live machinic draw - click into orbit with Van De Velde's loose-limbed, textural percussion. Both artists work in detail and gesture before volume, moving gently but unpredictably, index finger tracing part-clockwork, part-creature pattern cuts.

Review: For their inaugural release, London-based Vysyon presents Mercuri: an enchanting EP of enigmatic techno featuring music by Swiss artists Varuna & Mateo Hurtado, with artwork by Jin Synth. Having developed their brand of abyssal club music through releases on Amenthia Recordings & their own imprint A Walking Contradiction, Varuna dive into the void on 'Remote Pulsar'. Driven by a disorientating polyrhythm cloaked in opaque atmospherics, the trio's otherworldly approach to sound design is on full display. By contrast, the pounding 4/4 kick & propulsive acid bass of 'Uvez Echos' entrance the listener into a state of dancefloor reverie. Mateo Hurtado casts his own unique magic over the flip, showcasing his archetypal mystic sound established via an album on Annulled music & remixes for Space Drum Meditation. The mesmerising flute melody of 'An Invisible Fire, Working In Secret' casts a spell of hypnosis, while the flowing, amorphous pads & twisted bass of 'The Eternal Mirror' conjure visions of worlds unknown.

My Flickering Gift To You (feat Tujiko Noriko)
Review: New York's Rachika Nayar and Philadelphia's Nina Keith join forces on a striking collaboration that blurs neo-classical precision with post-rock vulnerability and glitched-out dream pop. Across ten tracks, the pair drift through a liminal zone of memory and reinvention - where tactile textures and diaristic flourishes brush against more abstract emotional spells. 'Give-upping', with Julianna Barwick, sets the tone: slow, swollen, and gently disintegrating. 'Blue Rags, Raging Wind' and 'Serpentine' echo the drama of Nayar's Heaven Come Crashing, while 'No More to See' and 'It's Change' bend indie-folk vocals into digital forms, aided by Katie Dey, June McDoom and Willy Siegel. Elsewhere, tracks like 'whole30 Fight Club' and 'Disiniblud' play with rhythm and fragmentation in more unstable ways - not so much deconstructed as quietly mutating. The album's most moving moment, 'My flickering gift to you', with Tujiko Noriko, offers a kind of closure without resolution. The result is a shared soundworld that feels emotionally precise yet formally fluid: vulnerable, glitched and alive with luminous detail.

Review: After a year of creative stagnation, Ryan Lee West returns with music that pulses with renewed spirit and emotional clarity. Rather than retreat to well-worn methods, he ventured outside his Hackney studio, crafting this album from a collection of salvaged fragments and half-formed sketches. The result is a record that constantly shifts between introspective ambient passages and vibrant electronic bursts, always grounded by West's keen sensitivity to emotion and movement. There's a tactile, almost handmade quality throughout. Tracks like 'Catherine' unfold with disarming simplicity, just a bare melody and shifting drums, yet feel deeply alive. 'Known Shape' straddles the boundary between club and dreamstate, while 'In a Trance' bounces with uncanny charm, pieced together from disjointed rhythms and airy textures. '2 Forms' distorts synths into something raw and turbulent, and 'Nocturne' quietly explores shadowy spaces with ghostlike piano and reverb. West's background as a guitarist subtly informs the record's structure, and he often treats electronic elements with a sense of physicality. Acoustic guitar loops thread through 'In Reverse' and 'Gaivotas', blending digital and organic worlds with ease. Details like muffled percussion on 'Coda' or room ambience on 'Tape Loop' give the album a feeling of lived-in warmth. Landscape from Memory plays like a sonic diary, full of fragile reflections and sudden clarity. It's a rich, nuanced journey shaped by West's rekindled connection to creativity, and his gift for making the inanimate feel human.

Review: Released in 1972, this turning-point work from German duo Cluster sees them move away from the abrasive chaos of their Kluster origins into something more controlled, spatial and tonal. With Conny Plank now focused on production rather than performance, the pair hone their approach into six named pieces-more concise, but still rich in mood and texture. 'Plas' and 'Georgel' simmer with soft modulations and bubbling loops, while 'Im Suden' stretches into blissfully uneasy territory, evoking desolation and calm in equal measure. 'Live in der Fabrik' is the set's centre of gravity, a longform pulse of metallic resonance and oscillating feedback that swells into kosmische abstraction. Less confrontational than its predecessor, it remains an essential document of early 70s electronic drift-weightless, eerie and always on the edge of collapse.

Review: With A Danger To Ourselves, Lucrecia Dalt builds on the momentum of 2023's iAy!, although it also hears her disrobe the experimental trickery of her earlier outings for a clearer songwriting sensibility. Written during tour limbo and the early days of a relationship, the record discards her usual fictional cloaks for autofiction, threading narrative, quotidian daily life fragments through a careful production needle, productively bar-mounted to the machine by the mythical production hand of David Sylvian. There's less melody here, more gravity; Dalt's voice cuts through the mix with new sharpness, as Spanish and English blur across tracks like 'Divina', where sensual dread meets forensic sound design detail.

Review: Composed in New York by the Baltimore-born minimalist Philip Glass and released in 1971, Music With Changing Parts was the album that put his vivid, colour-rich sound on the map, marking a shift away from the ultra minimal 600 Lines (1967) and Two Pages (1968). Performed with free instrumentation, the piece allows musicians to switch between eight staves at specified cues, generating abrupt shifts in texture and timbre. Though its melodic material remains tightly looped and minimal, changes in orchestration continuously refresh the sonic landscape. Most striking is the psychoacoustic illusion Glass observed during rehearsals: when multiple players repeated the same short patterns, sustained tones seemed to emerge on their own. He eventually formalised this in the score, permitting long notes to enhance the effect. What results is a hallucinated resonance that pulses and flickersian early indication of the harmonic depth he would later bring to works like the miestone Einstein On The Beach.

Review: On his latest album, Denver, Colorado musician and self-styled "former USAF baby-catching medic turned hippie abstract sound bath architect" Patrick R. Park enrols in the Berlin school, breaking from his premiership of the wondrous Ethereal Mother Tapes to lock down a decadal, decadent LP's worth of cosmic-not-cosmic loops. Echoing post-punk and glam-synth of the kind that might soundtrack a Stranger Things spinoff - but more maximal, glued together with the Pritt-stick of soft-clipped compression - the likes of 'Terror', 'Quantized' and 'Paramount' pin down the floating pappuses of true crime docu-music, platform video games with their pitchy arpeggios, and coulombs of dungeon-crawling aeration, the latter motif especially repeated on near-closer 'Zenith'. Use this record to soundtrack your next trek through Shadow Labyrinth, Evergrace or Wizardry 5.

Review: There isn't much info out there about this new and super limited ambient excursion from Mystery Circles, which leaves us only with the music. It's a charming and organic world of sound with lingering trumpet notes stretched out to infinity over textural motifs and sustained chords that are both melancholic and tinged with danger. Sometimes it's abstract sound design like on 'Glass & Steel' that gets the attention, at others more sweeping and traditional ambient like on 'Sounds From Light, Still In Darkness', but either way, this one is seriously arresting.

It is a dazzling plunge into otherworldly realms of sound and sensation that fires every synapse in your brain and blends warped electronics, tribal percussion and surreal texture into something that is ever-evolving and hugely absorbing. This most immersive musical world has lush tracks that describe fevered landscapes filled with mystical energy, deep space eeriness and enchanting futurism. Each piece is a psychedelic maze where logic dissolves and emotion reigns from glitchy bleeps to pulsing bass swamps. Perfect for late-night headphone listening or lying back in the sun and losing yourself in the disorienting sounds, it's as unique an album as you will hear.
