Review: This vibrant 1969 release captures the raw energy of Latin soul and funk, a perfect snapshot of Spanish Harlem's musical melting pot. With tight grooves and infectious percussion, the ensemble delivers tracks that feel alive with cultural and rhythmic vitality. Each arrangement draws from the boogaloo era's creativity, blending soulful melodies with sharp, danceable rhythms. This reissue offers a chance to experience a key moment in New York's Latin music history with its unmistakable blend of genres.

Review: Peddling heavy, sweet subs that ooze out of the scoops like syrup, Portuguese low end maestro 3WA makes his debut on Infernal Sounds with four utterly stinking brouhahas. 'Scavenger' starts the commotion on a deep but stern note and things get more and more twisted throughout the EP... 'Minotaur' grunts and growls with a over-sized toxic bassline while 'Mutt's flips from cosmic and percussive to straight-up deranged. Last but not least 'Wandering' finishes the EP on a last lingering groan. Refreshingly woozy.

Boasting a whopping 19 tracks including an alternative version of 'A.C.A.B.' originally intended to be included on the Oi! Review: 49ers were the fivesome of Gianfranco Bortolotti, Luca Cittadini, Diego Leoni and Pieradis Rossini and vocalist Ann-Marie Smith and 1989's 'Touch Me' came as their second ever single after 'Die Walkure', which did comparatively less well in the charts. Ingenious of the association now often made between Italo house/disco and lewd sexuality, this was an early experiment in the style and came without vocals from Smith. Instead, it sampled Aretha Franklin's 'Rock-A-Lott' and Alisha Warren's 'Touch Me', producing a nebulously sexual sound, in which the samples songstresses are made to sound much... tenderer. For the more squeamish among us, there is of course an instrumental B-side.

Review: Early arrivals don cardboard masks of 5 Seconds of Summer, blown up to thrice their usual size. It's as close as many will get to the Aussie lads tonight, with dry ice and a low stage obscuring them from view. This visual absence, coupled with the venue's steamy atmosphere, creates a pop-punk rave vibe - fitting for 5SOS's pivot to arena-ready anthems on their debut. The set spans their evolution from YouTube covers to teen idols. Wildcard moments like the psychedelic 'Voodoo Doll' and acoustic 'Amnesia' punctuate the night, but new material dominates. Opener 'She Looks So Perfect' sets the tone, channelling Blink-182 for a new generation. 5SOS amplify their pop sensibilities: 'Don't Stop' drives a simple riff to emotional heights, while 'Good Girls' repurposes 80s power ballad synths into tear-stained pop-punk.Despite radio-friendly polish, 5SOS's shift to mainstream pop feels genuine. Their vocals transform them into heartthrob crooners on 'Kiss Me Kiss Me'. This pop pivot suits their songcraft, with melancholy no less affecting when paired with power chords and arms-aloft choruses.their yearning songcraft perfectly, the melancholy heart of 5 Seconds of Summer no less affecting when tethered to power chord orthodoxy and following the shortest laser-guided path to the arms-aloft chorus.

Review: The 5 Seconds of Summer (10th Anniversary Edition) is a nostalgic celebration of the band's pop-rock origins, the infectious melodies and energetic rock vibes that marked their rise to fame. Featuring classic hits like 'She Looks So Perfect' and 'Amnesia', the latter showcasing their versatility with its stripped-down acoustic sound, while deeper cuts like 'Voodoo Doll' and 'End Up Here' remind listeners of the band's growth over the years. The Osaka-based producer blends sparse electronic percussion with dub-style synth bass and pentatonic melodies, while also using steel pan tones that bring an Okinawan or Southeast Asian touch. Fans of Haruomi Hosono and Equiknoxx will find much to love in this record's trans-oceanic textures with sparkling dub processing and thoughtful mixing throughout. Review: Matt Hodgson's 7th Voyage is one of those mid-90s labels that enjoyed cult status almost from the off. Its releases helped to define the sound of the London underground of the time and have since become pricey and sought after. The Return Voyage is a new seven-track collection of back-catalogue gems that pays tribute to the label's fine work. From the deep and atmospheric 'Big Hips Blue Gloves (No Dubs)' by Tactics Of Bass to the squelchy lo-fi hip-hop funk of The Secret Garden's 'Rough Diamond,' this is a vital look back at a hugely influential label.

Review: A special white vinyl edition of a stonker of a UK techno LP. The legendariness of The 7th Voyage's Return Voyage LP is said to outstrip that of others, with the short-lived label and artist moniker of one Joe Smilovitch locking in a "lost album" compiling works by fellows Tactics Of Bass, The Ron Honey Experience and Quadruplex for gem-hunters. That's the cherry on top of two already-wonderful single-EPs from the Smilovitch himself, 'The Predator' and 'The 4 Point', both from 1996. Pariter deem it "an exceptionally rare issue of a highly sought-after classic", and we can vouch for that. Wicked tunes all round.

Review: Originally formed in 1976 and often described as "one of the longest-lived groups of the punk era", London's own 999 are punk rock royalty who have the type of loyal fanbase that were either there to see their classic debut single 'I'm Alive' land them a deal with United Artists around the same time as their peers in Buzzcocks, or astute historians who've studied all of their past accomplishments (and unfair inconsideration) in retrospect. Whichever side of the number you land on, both generational fanbases often intersect at the release of the criminally underrated Death In Soho. Originally released in 2007, almost a full decade on from 1997's Takeover, while it'd be another 13 years until the 2020 follow up Bish! Bash! Bosh!, this latter day output showcases the seasoned veterans playing for themselves and for keeps, combining aged bitterness with classic punk rock sensibilities but with an admittedly warmer sense of production value. Don't let the age-old attitude that legacy punk bands don't deliver late-stage LPs worth of value fool you, Death In Soho is one of 999's best. Yes, we said it.

Review: Widely considered to be "one of the longest-lived groups of the punk era", homegrown Londonites 999 first formed in 1976, before instantly garnering a devout following by way of persistent performances and nonstop gigging. Signing to United Artists (along with their peers in Buzzcocks) thanks to the instantaneous power of their debut single 'I'm Alive', the next two years would see the release of their seminal 1977 self-titled debut full-length along with the excellent Separates LP in 1978, before landing at the iconic Old Waldorf (long since closed down and now a refurbished comedy club) for this fateful night turned newly unearthed live album. Emergency At The Old Waldorf 1979 grants a time travelling, voyeuristic earful of the punk heroes in their snarling prime, ripping through a collection of their most highly revered stompers such as 'Hit Me', 'Homicide', and obviously, 'Emergency', while the pressing arrives complete with previously unseen tour photos plus retrospective liner notes from frontman Nick Cash.

Review: Perhaps one of the most important bands to come out of Manchester ever. Up there with Joy Division, their funky post-punk is the very essence of that genre and possibly why a lot of bands like to call themselves post-punk. They're just wishing they sound as good as A Certain Ratio. For this latest release, the follow-up to their album It All Comes Down To This, they've reworked songs from said album - sensationally - and released a Christmas single. 'Now And Laughter' is described as an ode to "the unsung heroes that are on hand when the pressures of the festivities can become too much to bear." It's awash with sumptuous echoing guitar, a somber lead vocal which makes you want to raise your lighter and gently sway. There's a hint of David Bowie in there and the lyrics appear genuinely emotional and appreciative. This is a song of blissful poignance that can help remind us of what really matters in life as it captures a sense of vulnerability and awe in the magic of the moment.

Review: Firstly, a note about the radical record label Last Night From Glasgow that this album is released through. They not only have a tasteful roster with the likes of TeenCanteen and The Anchoress among its other releases, they are non-profit and ethically driven. It's a reaction to some of the stuff they despise about the music business so well worth digging into what they do. This release, A Girl Called Eddy's debut album, produced by Richard Hawley, is a terrific addition to their catalogue. Blending jazz rock, folk and 60s Baroque pop, it's a majestic work of art, loaded with highs. 'Tears All Over Town' is atmospherically charged, with American singer Erin Moray proving her understated power. 'People Used To Dream' is similarly captivating. It feels intimate and tender, yet leans into her maximalist tendencies and her Baroque pop side truly shines. This is gorgeous stuff.

Review: Louis Johnstone is known for his mischievous and anti-art approach and here he teams up with Trilogy Tapes for Dracula Completo, an unhinged, chaotic release that defies conventional music. Operating under multiple aliases including Wanda Group and A Large Sheet of Muscle, Johnstone's work blends concrete electronics, warped samples and dark, often distorted spoken-word pieces. Dracula Completo embodies his subversive style and is a mix of absurdity, mutant poetry and rebellious energy. Though Johnstone's work challenges norms and provokes, it remains surprisingly accessible and engaging.

This latest 10" comes on red wax and features for wonky and characterful tunes. 'Like I Said' is all low slung and funky bass guitar riffs and slick soulful house drums. 'Jyeah' brings a more cut up rhythm with warped sub and bleeping synths. 'Riiide' is another infectious house vibe with busy chords and daubs of synth, loopy vocals and hurried beats that call to mind French filter house classics and it's the same story with the brilliantly immediate thrills of 'JustCantLive'.

Review: This two-disc compilation serves as both a tribute and a comprehensive dive into the legacy of one of hip-hop's most influential groups. A Tribe Called Quest were instrumental at the start of the 90s for helping the hip-hop genre move into more conscious lyrics that thanks to the members, took storytelling to a new level. Creating some of the most catchy tracks in hip-hop history, the group continue to grow in respect as one of the best acts in the genre of all time. With a mix of career-defining hits, rare B-sides and fresh remixes, this package is a rich exploration of their artistry. Tracks like 'Can I Kick It?', 'Electric Relaxation' and 'Scenario' stand as monuments to their enduring impact, racking up millions of streams and inspiring new generations of listeners. Previously unreleased gems 'Mr. Incognito' and 'The Night He Got Caught' feel right at home alongside anthems like 'Award Tour' and 'Bonita Applebum', highlighting the group's versatility and storytelling prowess. The inclusion of remixes, such as 'Lyrics To Go (Tumblin Dice Remix)' and 'Oh My God (Remix)', adds layers of freshness to timeless classics. The attention to detail in this collection is remarkable. Tracks like 'Jazz (We've Got)' and 'Check The Rhyme' sound revitalised, with crisp production showing their intricate melodies and sharp lyricism. From the playful narrative of 'I Left My Wallet in El Segundo' to the bold swagger of 'Buggin' Out,' every track contributes to the story of a group widely considered to be one rap's all time greats.

Their sound blended British psychedelic house with elements of new beat, industrial, EBM and early acid house and in doing so captured the raw energy of the UK rave scene. Notably different from typical acid house acts of the time, A2L's music took in machine funk, samplers and turntable techniques to create trippy, infectious grooves. This collection compiles rare underground gems from them from 1989 and features standout tracks like 'Even Though It's Make Believe' and 'Come On.' It's a great look back to the experimental spirit of the late 80s.

Review: While much of the material they release is brand spanking new, Phonogramme is not averse to reissuing choice gems from the 1990s. That's the case here, as the French deep house label offers a new edited - pressed to striking pink marbled wax - of Analog Trks Vol 1, a 1997 EP from former Prescription Records artist Abacus (real name Austin Bascom). This edition varies from the original, featuring two of the four cuts and a previously unreleased take of another. Check first 'We Cookin' Now', a deliciously deep, slow-building masterpiece of smoky late night sonics, stripped-back percussion, Chez Damier motifs and subterranean bass, before admiring the tech-tinged deep house bounce of 'Opinion Rated R'. Rounding things off is 'Black Thanxx (Instrumental)', a kind of deep house/deep acid fusion workout rich in spacey chords, analogue bass and prototype tech-house bleeps.

Review: Raw post-punk trio Abdomen trade in the heavier end of the genre unafraid to douse distortion and fuzz onto everything and create music so exciting it would be hard not to want to throw yourself into a circle put for, 'Damage Tool' is a breathtaking way to get things started and 'Numbers' makes Fontaines DC sound like Boyzone. They are capable of slowing down - 'Dazed' has been slowed into a hypnotic Spacemen 3-esque psych/shoegaze jam. The band are relative newcomers and not widely known... yet. But this is going to be one of those albums you'll be kicking yourself for not having a first pressing of. Abdomen is only going to get bigger and it will give the Tapetown studio in Aarhus, Denmark - where they recorded this - more bragging rights for being among the coolest alternative music spaces in Europe.

Review: The Abstract Eye often works live and crafts tunes in one take, and that MO is the idea behind this new collection. It features plenty of hard-to-define sounds from over the last ten years, many of them with a cosmic synth outlook and raw analogue drums. 'Skyfather' is a real eye opener with its sense of mystic cosmic wonder, 'Real Myths' fizzes bring as burning phosphorus and 'A Yearning Feeling' is more paired back and introspective with jittery drums and electro rhythms all soothed by the melancholic synth work.

Along with staple live favourites that have remained in the band's set for yonks - see 'Rocker', 'Bad Boy Boogie', 'Problem Child' and 'The Jack' - there are rare outings for the groovy but more subdued, bluesy 'Gone' Shootin' and, the final encore here, 'Dog Eat Dog' from 76's massive Let There Be Rock album. You can almost hear the collectors' salivating.

Ghanaian trombonist Elikplim Kofi and American guitarist Nathaniel Braddock, who first met in 2017, reunited and were joined by percussionists Nii Addotey Brown and Daniel Tettey Black for these sessions which blend traditional and avant-garde sounds while merging folkloric instruments with free improvisation. The music is influenced by Ghana's diverse modern soundscapes so feels both local and cosmopolitan. The musicians' diverse backgrounds bring a rare, spiritual energy to this most standout record.

As she strikes a candid pose on the front cover, we're left puckering our lips at the pH levels on this one, with 'State Of Consciousness' and 'Lost Highways' sounding off raspy acids, while theming them after a psychedelic, hyperstitious consensus reality. Closer 'Coin Of Heaven' ends things on a wild harmonic layering over the acid sixteenths, with Twilight Zone radio murmurs swirling over the machinations.

Grey Interiors
Review: Actress is one of those names that invokes equal parts notoriety and hero worship. Like so much of the music he is associated with, the producer and DJ, studio experimenter and synth explorer doesn't have a reputation for being the easiest artist to predict. A creator who seems determined to push boundaries, even if that sometimes means abrasive and uninviting to the uninitiated, or anyone who would have preferred to hear something less abstract, if not altogether safer. Grey Interiors is a case in point. Dropping on the always-incredible Norwegian outlet Smalltown Supersound only emphasises the fact this is going to be an exercise in boldly going... Pressed onto a single-sided white 12" reinforces the notion that this occupies a place very much unto itself. The drones, distant sound of stardust falling, and whirs of tech that make up this spacey drone experience confirming we've boarded the shuttle and are now exiting Earth's atmosphere.

Think About You (4:11)
Review: Two tracks, originally unreleased when they were recorded in the late 70s and only surfaced later on the 1993 Ace compilation Greatest Performance, which showcase the exceptional range and emotional depth of this New Orleans artist. Johnny Adams' soulful gem, 'It's You Baby, It's You' along with 'Think About You', finally sees its debut 7" release. On Side-A, 'It's You Baby, It's You' is a positive and uplifting soul anthem. Driven by a strong horn section and a touch of funk, the track radiates joy and energy, with Adams' signature powerful vocals anchoring the vibe. His voice soars, wrapping the listener in its warm embrace. Side-B delivers 'Think About You', equally stunning, featuring big strings that elevate this beat-ballad to stunning heights. It matches the A-side's intensity, with Adams pouring his heart into every note. The arrangement complements his vocals perfectly, offering a lush, emotional experience. This release gives fans a chance to rediscover one of New Orleans' finest, adding a classic touch to the Soul4Real catalog.

Review: Ryan Adams' Wednesday album was released in 2020 and is introspective with songwriting up there with the best Americana. It's a world away from the classic rock swagger of his previous album, Prisoner, but no less powerful. This new album takes the exact same tracklist and reinvents the sound and spirit. It's a novel approach and a refreshing way of thinking about new studio releases for a label. 'Dreaming You Backwards and 'I'm Sorry and I Love You' has more of a more baroque pop with lush string sounds embellishing the fraught emotional tension; 'Dreaming Of You Backwards' is similarly majestic with classical music references guiding it. Compare these takes with the previous record's soulful rock feel - close in some ways to the sound of Hiss Golden Messenger - and it becomes clear Adams has shed that sound completely and achieved a true reinvention.

Initially demoed in 2006 and heavily bootlegged over the years, this long-awaited official release features raw and emotionally charged tracks, including 'Catherine', previously only performed live. The album's creation coincided with a tumultuous period in Adams' life, marked by struggles with addiction, making its release not just a musical event but also a reclamation of a pivotal moment in his career. Adams merged two versions of the albumione reflecting a chaotic vocal performance and another crafted in the midst of his struggles. The release promises to satisfy years of speculation while offering an authentic glimpse into Adams' artistic evolution. With its blend of previously unheard material and emotional depth, Blackhole stands as a testament to the beauty found within vulnerability and fans eagerly await its arrival.

Across 11 tracks, Adja dissects capitalism's influence on intimacy with sharp wit, layered symbolism and soulful grooves whether she's reimagining jazz standards or delivering dystopian vignettes of modern labor. Throughout these tracks her storytelling is bold, critical and playfully mystical. Review: Parsed into its unabbreviated form, title of Florence Adooni's vintage-sounding but brand new highlife record is an endearing reminder that togetherness should not be thought a luxury, but rather a human right and expectation, hence its ordinariness. Rooted in the rich traditions of Ghana's Fra Fra culture and propelled by cosmic production from Philophon Records' visionary Max Weissenfeldt, this release is a bold fusion of hereditary rhythms and fresh productions, proving that the convivialities often associated with traditional West African music need not be lost on the global situation of 2024. The standout here has to be 'Vocalize My Luv', a punchy track, with carnivalesque Afro-dance stylings and a resinous bass breadth charge, as Adooni sings powerfully of the innate human need for expression.

Review: Advance Base makes is the name given to melancholic electronic story songs made by US indie label owner and musician Owen Ashworth. Ashworth can sing the phonebook and has mastered the art of cutting all the fat from his words to deliver succinct, compelling stories to lo-fi Daniel Johnston-ish music. ‘The Year I Lived In Richmond’ doesn’t colour anything in metaphor and it’s a frank tale about a woman who had stabbed a burglar and his experience living close to it. The album title is as apt as could be. Meanwhile, ‘How You Got Your Picture on the Wall’ is heartbreaking in its delivery and has a clever twist at the end. Ashworth under his moniker Advance Base is an outsider hero with a level of artistry and songwriting that's quite rare to find. Absolutely stunning.

Review: In the mid-90s, Lee Rodriguez, known as Mr. Onester, produced some of New York's most iconic, gritty house tracks. Collaborating closely with Steven John Craden, Rodriguez's music embodied a raw, Afro-Latine essence that reflected the culture and vibrancy of working-class New York, yet managed to strike chords far beyond. His sound, from hypnotic organ basslines to jazzy synths, stood out amid the polished vocals and pop appeal dominating dance floors at the time. The duo's prolific output spanned numerous aliases, genres and labels, carving a unique space in house music's golden era. After the release of his masterpiece, however, Rodriguez vanished, leaving only his legacy and a tantalizing mystery behind. Now reissued once again to meet the demand, this album continues to get noticed and find itself into the hearts of all who hear it.

He backs up that reputation with six cuts of "straight up beat tracks for the club." They are inspired by the legacy of early WBMX mix shows and come with a hint of Latin flavour, with hammers percussion, snappy drum patterns and fiery vocals all making for a nice and wonky workout across a range of inviting tempos. A very useful album that has something for a wide spread of dance floor moments.

Review: One of the most legendary trance anthems of all time, 'The Age of Love', continues its reign with a fresh set of remixes that bridge generations of dance music fans. On Side-A, Charlotte de Witte & Enrico Sangiuliano inject their signature techno power into the track, transforming it into a driving, hypnotic beast. Review: Formed in 1982, New York City hardcore pioneers Agnostic Front left a defining impact on the burgeoning scene with their unmatched ferocity and sonic abrasion as well as their intimidating attitude and skinhead aesthetic, which would lead to them incorrectly being perceived by some as racists or neo-Nazis. Coming up in the rundown streets of Lower East Side Manhattan, surrounded by urban decay in an area battling severe poverty, drugs, and violence, they channelled their anger into a new breed of punk that would serve as both a rallying cry for the less fortunate as well as an urgent, abrasive form of catharsis. This blistering compilation contains recordings dating back to the very beginning of their career, featuring demos of tracks that would eventually appear on their 1983 debut United Blood 7", while also offering other recordings from this period originally left unissued at the time; some of these would later be included on the 1995 Raw & Unleased CD, though several of these cuts have never been made available on wax until now. The band would later be featured as part of Showtime's The Godfathers of Hardcore documentary from 2017, while frontman Roger Miret's autobiography provides a deeply insightful yet frightening firsthand account of an already clearly tumultuous yet integral time in punk history.

Review: Parisian house music producer and artist Agoria (Sebastien Devaud) channels his delight at the 20th Century so far into a new album, theming it after illumination and individual self-becoming. In a rare case of an artist penning a short LP-accompanying manifesto - doubling up as a thankful testament to the opportunity to travel the world for the past 30 years, and to experience the richness of diversity in sound and culture - Agoria is quick to wax spiritual: "the metamorphosis is coming", "the light that chases away the shadow". Building on the now towering Detroit-influenced house and techno discography amassed since 1999, Unshadow is a feature-packed compendium, bringing a newfound, downtempo, graceful serenity to the artist's already varied discography.

The album is fierce and vibrant, brimming with heavy riffs, bold distortion and Denise Corales' ethereal, phased vocals that echo the style of Jefferson Airplane. Blending original compositions with dynamic covers of hits by Tommy James & The Shondells, The Beatles and Jefferson Airplane, Aguaturbia infuses these tracks with an intensity that feels fresh and enthralling. Their bold musical expression, combined with provocative cover art, pushed boundaries in Chile's conservative society at the time. The album's raw, untamed energy made it a symbol of artistic rebellion. Guitarist Carlos Corales captivates with his powerful solos, leaving live audiences in awe. His mastery, paired with Willy Cavada's exceptional drumming, is showcased in unforgettable moments like Cavada's thrilling solo on 'Ah Ah Ah Ay', recorded perfectly in one take. Standout tracks include their hypnotic rendition of 'Somebody to Love' and the sultry, electrifying 'Erotica', where Denise's seductive vocals meld effortlessly with Carlos' scorching guitar work. Their version of 'Crimson and Clover' transforms the classic into a pulsating, psychedelic experience. This album, with its raw edge and groundbreaking style, remains an essential listen for anyone delving into the roots of psychedelic rock in Latin America, providing a truly riveting sonic journey.

Review: Agustin Pereyra Lucena's 1980 album La Rana was recorded in Oslo and is a wonderful exhibition of his exceptional guitar interpretations of compositions by Ivan Lins, Antonio Carlos Jobim and his friend Baden Powell, all alongside his own original works including the 15-minute masterpiece 'Encuentro De Sombras.' Featuring bassist Guillermo Reuter, flautist Ruben Izarrualde and drummer Finn Sletten, La Rana blends South American rhythms with Norwegian landscapes and reflects Agustin's warmth, humility, and joyful connection to music and life and the title track is a standout that offers a unique rendition of Joao Donato's 'A Ra' from his 1973 album Quem E Quem.

Review: Yazz Ahmed's latest offering blends the melancholy of her Bahraini heritage with her expansive jazz vision. Tracks like 'The Pearl Diver's Tale' and 'Sandstorm' weave together traditional Arabic instrumentation with modern jazz structures, creating an immersive and dynamic soundscape. Collaborating with vocalists Natacha Atlas and Brigitte Beraha, Ahmed's compositions grow even more poignant, pulling from the sorrowful songs of Bahrain's pearl divers and the rhythms of women's traditional drumming. This 180-gram vinyl 2XLP marks a new chapter in Ahmed's career, combining English and Arabic lyrics to bring an entirely new perspective to her already unique sound.

Review: Finding My Way Home marks the debut of British-Bahraini trumpet player Yazz Ahmed, a project deeply rooted in her cultural and musical journey. The album blends Yazz's Arabic heritage with the classic British jazz sounds that marked her youth. This mix of influences is reflected in original compositions and improvisations that draw on her childhood in Bahrain, as well as the British jazz scene of the 1950s and 60s that her grandfather, Terry Brown, was part of. Terry, a notable jazz trumpeter and producer, inspired Yazz's early passion for music. A highlight of the album is Yazz's collaboration with renowned bassist Janek Gwizdala, a friendship, rekindled years after their teenage brass ensemble days, that led to intimate recordings at the Cowshed in London. These duetsifeaturing pieces like Yazz's Affirmation and the spontaneous Arabic-influenced compositions Embarkation and Al Muharraqiform the emotional core of the album, while it also showcases Ahmed's quintet, performing two original tracks: the tender ballad Conciliation and the Joe Henderson-inspired 'Flip Flop'. Another standout, 'Wah-Wah Sowahwah', features Shabaka Hutchings on bass clarinet, exploring Ahmed's Arabic influences. 'Finding My Way Home' concludes with a self-titled track, merging elements from previous recordings into an evocative journey. This debut not only launched Yazz's career, earning acclaim and praise, but also inspired her to form new ensembles.
