Review: From the grave, Prince is serving up a banger just in time for Christmas fun this year in the form of a one-sided 12" on Warner. It found him working with his trusty New Power Generation and features the 'damn near 10 min' mix of the song 'Gett Off' which is sure to fire up any dancefloor. It was originally a single - also served up as a one-sider - to promote Prince's new band with a cover that boldly declared that "Nothing can stop Prince and the New Power Generation" and was only issued on 1500 copies, so this is a great treat for fans to own all these years later.

Review: The Firm was a UK supergroup that formed in 1984. Singer Paul Rodgers was the man responsible for getting together with guitarist Jimmy Page and the group became one of the most successful rock outfits of their era. They released a brace of brilliant albums - the self-titled debut in 1985, then a year later Mean Business - and played across the UK and US in the years after. One of the best shows they did was at the Oakland Coliseum on 15th March. Their extraordinary energy and fine set list was recorded for live FM Radio Broadcast and now you can listen back to the whole thing on vinyl for the first time ever.

Review: On April 17, 1994, Led Zeppelin's main songwriters reunited for the Alexis Korner Memorial Concert in Buxton, England. In August, they recorded performances in London, Wales, and Morocco featuring Egyptian and Moroccan orchestration of classic Led Zeppelin tracks along with four new songs. These performances were broadcast as a 90-minute MTV special UnLedded which led to a successful tour starting in February 1995. This newly reissued release captures an exceptional performance from that tour and includes both new material and Middle Eastern-influenced renditions of Zeppelin classics like 'Bring It On Home,' 'Ramble On,' 'The Song Remains the Same,' 'Black Dog' and 'Kashmir.'

Review: The chemistry between Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes, caught here live in AL in 1999, produces a dynamic performance that brings fresh life to classic rock anthems. Tracks like 'Celebration Day' and 'What Is & What Should Never Be' are delivered with incredible precision, each riff from Page cutting through the mix, while the Crowes' rhythm section provides a perfect backdrop. Chris Robinson's vocals are raw and commanding, particularly on 'Heartbreaker,' where he channels the energy of the original while adding his own emotive twist. The blues covers, like 'Sloppy Drunk' and 'Mellow Down Easy,' show off the band's versatility, giving a loose, electric vibe that contrasts beautifully with the more structured Zeppelin classics. A live performance that captures both the spirit of the originals and the fire of the setting.

Review: Two-time Grammy Awards winner, MTV Video Award veteran, Brit nominee and icon of the 1980s. Robert Palmer's name may not be as familiar as it once once at the height of music video broadcasting - when his anthem of excess and glamour, 'Addicted To Love', was either fresh off the presses, circa 1986, or still being rolled out as one of the most defining pop clips of all time. Suffice to say, our world - our cultural universe - has shifted since then, and the Batley, West Yorkshire-born, Malta-raised legend isn't necessarily the first artist on your lips when someone asks why the lights are on when nobody's home. That's a crying shame, as beyond that most famous of his tracks there's a big oeuvre to explore. Including 1999's unashamedly sexy, seductive, and slick (perhaps even over-produced) Rhythm & Blues, arguably the most aptly titled record arriving in stock this month.

Review: This magnificent live album captures accomplished West Yorkshire-born singer-songwriter Robert Palmer at his peak. His electrifying performance from the final night of his 1988 Heavy Nova tour was recorded at the legendary Apollo Theatre and was released as his first full-length live album. It's packed with his signature blend of rock, soul and pop and his biggest hits, along with standout album tracks, are performed with both precision while his smooth vocals and charismatic stage presence really shine through on the likes of 'I Didn't Mean To Turn You On' and 'Woke Up Laughing'.

Review: Divisive wouldn't even come close to describing Panic! At The Disco's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. For some, even the band's name was enough to put them off, for others, this record arrived riding on the tail end of the second emo wave, which in itself may have been too little too late (or too much?) to stand any chance of saving the genre from becoming a parody of itself.

And yet in the eyes of many, A Fever remains a landmark release from a band that helped define the sound's resurgence at that time. It's a fraught and angsty ode to the moments in our lives when, for a few at least, hanging out in shopping malls being sarcastic and embracing affectation is the only real way to spend the weekend. Recreate those memories with this 25th anniversary edition of an album you already know you love and want. Or not.

Review: Originally bestowed upon fans and newcomers alike in 2007, Riot! is Paramore's second album and represented a real evolution in sound for the band at the time. While never straying from the emo-punk-pop blueprint that first garnered them love and attention, this iteration saw the troupe explore more experimental and abstract ideas, while still giving us all plenty to pogo-on-about.

Hence the high chart ranking, in the US at least, and multiple gold records from sales in global territories. Music aside, it may or may not have been at this point when many ears began to realise that - even in the most angsty and immature moments - Paramore's lyrics are well and truly a cut above most of the rest. The combination being an irrepressible power that can't help but go straight for the emotional heartstrings, whether that means creating positive energy or inward reflection.

Review: After more than 26 years, Pearl Jam triumphantly claimed the top spot on the mainstream rock airplay charts in the US with the lead single from their latest album. Released 1000 days before the album itself, the single 'Dark Matter' marked Pearl Jam's return to chart-topping glory for the first time since 'Given To Fly' in January-February 1998. The album, now finally released, has swiftly garnered praise from fans old and new. Laden with the band's signature riffs and powerful grooves, every track, including 'Dark Matter,' showcases Eddie Vedder's iconic vocals and confirms they still have what it takes to make a mark in the metal world.

Review: RECOMMENDED
The story behind No Code is one of resilience, rights, and division. First released in 1996, it arrived at a point in time when the band were still reeling from their troubled Vitalogy tour, in which they took a stand against Ticketmaster by boycotting the company, giving a sneak preview of the problematic relationship between bands, fans and ticketing platforms that would grow more visible in the following decade.

Once again, Pearl Jam struck it big here, with the record landing at number one in the Billboard 200 charts, making for the group's third consecutive number one album. However, the success was short-lived. Combining the alternative and grunge rock they were known for with elements of garage, experimental balladry and worldbeat, it's easily their most diverse, but that didn't suit everyone back then. Hit play today, though, and we're not sure anyone could argue against the depth and innovation at play.

Review: The eleventh studio album by prolific American rock band Pearl Jam, Gigaton was originally released in March 2020 and sold out almost instantly. Now getting a re-run on US label Monkeywrench, fans have a second chance at adding this standout release to their collection. Typical of Pearl Jam this release features inventive instrumentation such as the 1850s-era pump organ originally played by Vedder on the 2015 demo of 'River Cross'. Featuring popular singles 'Dance of the Clairvoyants', 'Superblood Wolfmoon' and 'Quick Escape', Gigaton was undoubtedly well worth the six and half year wait. Definitely one you'll need to grab before it's gone.

Review: Sacred Summits were the first to reissue Luis Perez's timeless Mexican hymns, back in 2014, but the diligent Mr Bongo has decided to buy the rights to press some more copies up. To us, that's only good news because we absolutely love this album. First released in 1981, it has been an almost impossible record to get a hold of on vinyl, but it absolutely SHOULD be readily available to anyone - through vast landscapes of subtle electronic manipulations and organic instrument improvisation, we are immersed in an endless world of mysticism, where each new listen will unearth something new and wonderful. What a sublime LP. Warmly recommended.

Review: You'll have to go pretty far to find anyone who doesn't crack a smile at the ever-so-slightly nasal tones of Tom Petty. The late-Earl of heartland and blues rock originally unveiled this record as his second solo full-length, back in 1994, and it earned triple-platinum sales for very good reason.

At times carefree and driven by a celebration of abandon as much as any time signature ('You Don't Know How It Feels', 'Wildflowers') in other moments reflective ('Don't Fade On Me'), and occasionally redemptive ('Crawling Back To You'), it is quite literally packed with the gamut of human emotion. And some very handy guitar work. Here extended (hence the All The Rest bit in the title), you also get an additional four discs of bang for your buck, including rare home recordings, live takes and alternative versions. We'll leave you to explore those, though.

Review: The newly remastered deluxe edition of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 1982 album Long After Dark is a fresh opportunity to revisit the album's classic rock energy. This edition is a 2xLP set pressed on 180-gram vinyl, which includes 12 rediscovered tracks, seven of them previously unreleased, like 'Never Be You'. With new liner notes by David Fricke, it offers context and insights into the era and Petty's impact. This album, featuring classic tracks like 'You Got Lucky', 'Change of Heart', and 'Straight Into Darkness', is quintessential Tom Pettyifull of straightforward, rootsy rock with a touch of heartland Americana. Petty's sincerity and dedication to his craft shine through, and the remastered sound enhances the listening experience, bringing clarity and depth to the instrumentation that was sometimes overshadowed by the production techniques of the early 1980s. The band's tight instrumentation, highlighted by Mike Campbell's guitar work and Howie Epstein's harmonies, reflects a seasoned group delivering Petty's personal and reflective songwriting with conviction. One of the highlights of Long After Dark is how it balances introspective lyrics with rock anthems. The previously unreleased tracks add a new dimension to this album, offering insights into the sessions and creative direction Petty and his band were exploring at the time. For instance, the track 'Deliver Me' has the Heartbreakers firing on all cylinders, with layered guitars and a propulsive rhythm section that underscores Petty's commanding vocal delivery. This remastered edition not only gives long-time fans a nostalgic trip but also introduces new listeners to the enduring relevance of Petty's music.

Review: Long After Dark by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is a standout album that often doesn't get the recognition it deserves. This nearly ballad-free record, released in 1982, is a cohesive, energetic breakup album. While none of its tracks are typically ranked among Petty's top ten classics, six of the ten songs are essential Petty numbers, filled with prime-era vocal performances and engaging musical arrangements. This new remastered versions comes complete with 12 rediscovered tracks, enhances the sound, bringing more depth to the instrumentation. It's essential listening for Tom Petty fans and highly recommended for lovers of heartland rock. Released on turquoise makes this package extra special. Tracks like 'One Story Town', 'You Got Lucky', 'Deliver Me', 'Change of Heart', 'We Stand a Chance' and 'Straight Into Darkness' stand out, showing the band's great musicianship and Petty's songwriting at its peak. Even the more understated songs like 'Finding Out' have a solid rock energy that excites.'The Same Old You' and 'Between Two Worlds' channel a Rolling Stones-like vibe. Overall, this album is still one of Tom Petty's best.

Review: Phish's aptly titled 16th studio album, Evolve, marks their first release in over four years and continues their tradition of fusing rock, jazz, bluegrass, and eclectic sounds. Known for their ever-changing live shows, this album captures the band's essence with a collection of tracks that have been part of their live repertoire for years. Evolve opens with 'Hey Stranger,' an engaging track featuring a catchy staccato beat and minor-key melody, setting the stage for a dynamic listening experience. The album then flows into the bluesy 'Oblivion' and the title track, 'Evolve,' which highlights bassist Mike Gordon's pulsating rhythms and Trey Anastasio's lyrical depth. Tracks like 'A Wave of Hope' show Page McConnell's keyboard abilities amidst driving guitar riffs, reflecting the band's roots in '70s rock. 'Pillow Jets' offers a mix of chaos and calm, while 'Life Saving Gun' delivers a paradoxical title with rock-driven energy. This record and media focus back ond the band, will surely introduce more new people to the masses.

Review: On April 2nd 1998, jam and psych band Phish performed one of their best and most storied shows at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. For the first time, they would perform such later Phish favourites as 'Birds Of A Feather' and 'Frankie Says', and this is a rare case of a show from a
"micro-tour"; this was a band whose popularity bespoke an uncanny ability to tour whenever they felt like it, and for whichever length of time they chose, "because the band were getting bored and wanted to play some shows", according to Trey Anastasio. As ever, with irreverent quaternary glee, the group span neo-barbershop and smooth-tongued improv, crafting yet more fodder for a diehard fanbase's obsessive quibbling over the nuances of each performance.

Review: Pink Floyd's early era is celebrated on this double LP set, Transmissions, It was a time when they recorded some well regarded sessions for FM radio broadcast and was around legendary albums including A Saucerful Of Secrets - the swansong of the increasingly ill Syd Barrett, replaced by David Gilmour during its making - Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother and Meddle. Plenty of highlights for fans old and new can be found here, with raw and lo-fi recordings of tunes like 'Daybreak' next to heady melodies and acoustic steaming on the much more organic and spring-day like 'Nightmare (Cymbaline)'. It all comes sounding great across two limited edition slabs of clear vinyl.

Review: Nerds, gather round, for this brand new edition of Pink Floyd's utmost live performance of DSOTM at Wembley's Empire Pool in 1974 documents the band's best performance in the best possible sound quality yet. Truly, audiophilia is real, and fans of Floyd are among the most avid audiophiles out there; several specially mixed versions of the album feature here, including one specifically made for Dolby Atmos, and another, the Quad mix, made for systems made up of exactly four speakers. Remastered by James Guthrie.

Review: Hi-def mono reissue of Floyd's classic 1967 album, remastered in 2017 from the original analog tapes. Known for its rough, crunchy psych sound that predated the band's later, boundless space rock sensibilities, this is the wall-breakers at their most primordial, and their least beat-around-the-bush. This one's been given an anniversary reissue a whopping three times in a row; of course, we should endeavour not to overlook the more perfunctory, audiophiles' rarities such as this. Make sure you add it to your 'Gates Of Dawn' collection while you can.

Review: The classic - or at least most commercial successful - line up of Pink Floyd, caught in live action in London in 1974 playing their most famous album - come to mention it, almost the most famous album of all time. Often derided by some as preposterous prog rock, the Floyd deflect such criticism by balancing the lengthy instrumental sections and overarching concepts with some immensely catchy songwriting and instantly loveable grooves.

Review: You'd be hard pushed to find anyone with a set of ears who doesn't like at least one of The Police's many hits. Sure, Sting is a pretty divisive figure these days but back in his pomp with this crew he was untouchable. The band was known for bring their love of dub and reggae to their catchy indie-pop sounds and it resulted in global tours, a number of chart topping hits and adoration from fans across the planet. All the best tune are here from the squealing 'Roxanne' to the freaky 'Walking on the Moon' via the funky 'Message In A Bottle.' This 30th Anniversary edition is a real bumper across four sides of vinyl.

Review: The fifth and final studio album by The Police, Synchronicity, released in June 1983, was the band's most successful effort, catapulting them to global stardom. The album featured four classic hit singles: 'Every Breath You Take,' 'King of Pain,' 'Wrapped Around Your Finger,' and 'Synchronicity II.' With over 8 million copies sold in the USA (8x platinum) and 300,000 in the UK (1x platinum), the total worldwide sales by the end of 1983 surpassed 20 million. The album, inspired by Arthur Koestler's "The Roots of Coincidence," garnered five Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year, in 1984. This first comprehensive archival album project for The Police has been compiled with full band cooperation. The expanded multi-format reissue features unreleased bonus material, new liner notes, interviews, rare archive memorabilia, and unseen photographs. The 4-LP set on standard black vinyl includes a 60-page lavish color book with unseen material, printed inner sleeves, and four art print photographs, all housed in a hardback slipcase. The track listing includes the original remastered ten-track LP, a 12-track collection of contemporaneous B-sides and singles bonus tracks, and two discs of previously unreleased alternate takes, out-takes, and instrumentals, making it the most complete and in-depth version of the album ever released.

Review: Whatever your views of what Sting may have become after he left his band, you can't argue that The Police was a superb outfit. They took a love of reggae and transformed it into funky, soul, pop leaning tunes with oodles of charm and plenty of big hooks and kooky lyrics. 1982's Around The World now gets a deluxe and extended reissue on vinyl and DVD with restored picture and remastered audio. It chronicles the band's first ever world tour and takes in some of their biggest hits such as 'Walking On The Moon', 'Message In A Bottle', 'Roxanne' and 'So Lonely.'

Review: The long-awaited 6CD super deluxe edition of The Police's iconic 1983 album Synchronicity is finally here, offering fans a bountiful deeper exploration of works around the making of the album as well as previously unheard material. Review: Pretenders' iconic album Learning To Crawl gets a crystal clear vinyl reissue here to commemorate its 40th anniversary. Retaining the original 1984 artwork and tracklist, this reissue boasts 2018 remastered audio by producer Chris Thomas which arrives on wax for the first time. Following a band hiatus marred by the tragic losses of guitarist James Honeyman-Scott and bassist Pete Farndon, the album features various musicians before Robbie McIntosh and Malcolm Foster joined to solidify the lineup. Achieving Gold and Platinum status in the UK and US, the album peaked at #11 in the UK and #5 on the Billboard 200 and includes beloved tracks like '2000 Miles' and 'Back on the Chain Gang'.

Review: Prince is a name that needs no introduction. The Vault ... Old Friends 4 Sale was originally released in 1999 , a full three years after being submitted to Warner Bros in 1996. Thus, it was recorded in 1994 and 1995 which in many fans' eyes, follows some of the best Prince work when he was known as the symbol. Stylistically, the album has Prince exploring more jazz elements while still remaining clearly a Prince album. Perhaps due to Prince not doing a world tour to support the album and lack of radio friendly singles, the album wasn't the chart success that the label hoped for but to fans it holds a special place in their Prince discography.

Review: The legacy and catalogue of Prince is one which continues to reveal surprises and swerves even this many years after his death. There are a lot of different phases to dig into, but if you want the exhaustive run through his breakout years, look no further than the Hits 1 and 2 collections. Put together by Warner in 1993, as their relationship with the famously strong-willed artist was going south, this pair of compilations feature every hit that matters from 1979 through to 1992. There are stone-cold classics and some deeper fan favourites and rarities included - so many in fact it has to be stretched over two separate volumes.

Review: The Purple One had many different official aliases but in 1995 came one of his best/worst - he was asked to be known by the unpronounceable symbol shown on the album cover of this record. Known amongst fans as the "love symbol" it was credited with this album, The Gold Experience, his impressive seventeenth studio long player overall. The whole record was produced by the legendary singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist himself and as with most of his works it reached the upper end of the Billboard chart. Standouts include the likes of 'The Most Beautiful Girl in the World', 'I Hate U', and 'Gold'. One of many essential albums in his oeuvre.

Review: A series of Prince albums are being reissued by Warner, including this one from 1994. By then the legendary funk artist's relationship with his label was hugely stringed and he had recently change his name, for the first of several times to [Love Symbol]. This album was one of a number that the Purple One wrote in a short space of time in order to free himself from his contract with the major label. Despite those circumstances, it is still a standout record that managed to get to Number One in the UK despite a lack of support from Prince himself upon release.

Review: Prince's early career was marked by a fearless blending of musical genres, provocative lyrics, and an undeniable magnetism that propelled him into superstardom. One of the key moments in this trajectory was his Controversy tour in 1981-1982, which cemented his status as an innovative and trailblazing artist. The live album, Controversy At The Capitol: New Jersey Broadcast 1982, captures a crucial moment during this tour and now offers those who were there, or those who want toffee like they were, a glimpse into his artistry at a time when he was beginning to define his future legacy.

Review: When Prince first formed the New Power Generation - or NPG to fans - it was 1990 and the world was already had over heels with the Purple King. But nobody could imagine what was coming next. Drafting a press release, with typical modesty (ahem), the legendary pop icon described group as the "best band ever". Incredibly, there's a strong case for the fact he was bang on the money. In time, fans would co-opt the label "the funkiest band in the land", which is similarly accurate. This live recording really showcases what Prince, and the public, meant. It rocks out, it's sensationally soulful, and relentlessly danceable. Ultimately, then, it's an incredible listen, but one what also emphasises just how much was lost when this bonafide enigma tragically bowed out, long before his time.

Review: The Purple One did a series of special live shows at the Miami Glam Slam Club in 1994 as part of a residency, and as they were recorded for live radio broadcast we can now relive them again with this reissue. The dynamic songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer was in top form in the mid-90s and used this residency to further explore his blend of funk, rock and soul. With electrifying performances of hits and deep cuts, this album highlights his unparalleled musicianship and charismatic stage presence with plenty of classics all included from 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World ' to 'I Believe In You.' A great slice of pop history.

Review: Diamonds & Pearls was the sound of Prince stepping into the 90s and making it his own, embracing a slick, big-budget production and dabbling in new jack swing and house as much as his more traditional, soulful songwriting. It's fit to burst with classics, not least the huge singles 'Gett Off', 'Cream' and 'Diamonds & Pearls' itself, but there's so many other gems to savour on this seminal album from the purple wonder. 'Strollin', 'Willing & Able' and knockout closer 'Live 4 Love' are but four highlights. Newly remastered and repressed on double vinyl, you can re-acquaint yourself with some of the finest work from a true genius.

Prince shattered all expectations and made music history when he released the album Purple Rain, followed by the hit movie of the same name weeks later. The 9-track LP went on to win two Grammy awards ("Best Rock Performance by a Group" & "Best Album of Original Score Written For A Motion Picture"), two American Music Awards, a Brit Award, and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. In 2012 the Library of Congress added the album to the National Recording Registry, which only accepts sound recordings that "are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States." Purple Rain spent 24 weeks at #1 on the Billboard album charts, sold over 25 million copies worldwide, and appears on countless 'Best Of' polls, most recently achieving the #4 spot on Apple Music's Top 100 Albums Of All Time.

The 2024 Atmos presentation of Purple Rain featured on this Blu-Ray, was meticulously mixed from the original multi-track master tapes by Prince's protege and Best Engineered Grammy nominee Chris James. They were just as important to those who attended as the more celebrated likes of Glasto' and this collection shows the sounds were just as good, too. The sounds - from big names liek Deep Purple, Hawkwind and Alan Parker & Alan Hawkshaw to lesser known acts like Jonesy, will appeal to hippies and bikers alike with big riffs, funky drumming and some psyched-out sounds.
