Review: Originally released in 1999 and celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Still Life served as the fourth full-length from Swedish progressive metal titans Opeth, while marking their first project with bassist Martin Mendez (the second-longest-serving member after primary songwriter Mikael Akerfeldt). Another concept album following on from 1998's predecessor My Arms, Your Hearse, the narrative details an anti-Christian sentiment of a man ostracised from his village due to a perceived lack of faith, only to return years later to be with his love. It's here where things turn very grim and complex, whilst the narrative is further bolstered by the compositional intricacies, weaving frosted Scandinavian death metal around lush prog-folk harmonies. Reissued on splattered vinyl and spread across a double LP set, the album remains a strong favourite across the devout Opeth camps of the world.

Review: Originally released in 2005 and celebrating its 20th anniversary, Ghost Reveries would serve as the eighth full-length from Swedish progressive metal legends Opeth. Following the 2002/2003 two-part project which showcased their most malevolent form on Deliverance and then a resolutely pleasant prog rock opus with Damnation, this follow up sought to rectify one side with the other; coalescing into a masterwork which simultaneously was regarded by longtime fans as a career height, whilst the expanded distribution from signing with major label Roadrunner opened them up to an entire new wave of unsuspecting ears. Marking their first album since 1999's Still Life to not be produced by Porcupine Tree's Steve Wilson, instead duties fell to Jens Bogren (Katatonia, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir) who helped Mikael Akerfeldt and his cohorts to rediscover their death metal origins yet channelled through their more melancholic sensibilities. Boasting some of their most vital pieces from the epic 10-minute opener 'Ghost Of Perdition', to the even lengthier fan favourite 'Reverie/Harlequin Forest', as well as the equally adored 'The Grand Conjuration', the album has long since been held aloft as the perfect modern entry point to the world of Opeth. The project would also be the first to include keyboardist Per Wiberg as a "permanent" member while serving as their final endeavour to feature both drummer Martin Lopez and long-time guitarist Peter Lindgren.

Review: Led by the incomparable Sami Albert "Witchfinder" Hynninen (Reverend Bizarre, The Puritan, The Candles Burning Blue), Opium Warlords are the lo-fi, sultry, genre-less playground where all of the sonic auteurs most insightful and bizarre predilections come to life. Described as an audible melting pot of "pussy techno, sludge, industrial pop, hardcore punk, drone, shamanistic pulse, noise, heavy metal, old school gothic rock and march music", Strength is the sixth full-length from the mysterious project which essentially guarantees from the outset that you're entering into an utter mess of ideas, yet reliably reigned into one cohesive vision. While compared to the oppressive gloom of 2020's Nembutal, the material here benefits from brighter synths and glossier production yet underpinned with a macabre and alienating dissection of Machiavellian and Nietzschean philosophies of strength and elitism. That's when the lyrics aren't directly pulled from the back of shampoo bottles. Confused? Good, that's the only requirement for entry

Review: Reel People Music expands the fizzing dynamic between highly accomplished label associates Opolopo (AKA Peter Major) and Angela Johnson with the release of their brand new album Best of Both Worlds. The nine-track record is an impressive merging of soulful souls, building on the pair's previous 'track-by-track' collaborative approach, and calling on influences from Quincy Jones to The Isley Brothers. From the twizzling decrescendos of Buffalo, which hears the pair summon the bruk maestro Kaidi Tatham on recording and co-prod duties, to the sparkly, sparky whetstone electro-disco track 'The Ones You Love', we really do get the best of both worlds here; we get nine worlds, in fact.

Review: Or Bareket is a bassist and composer who is recognised for his great lyricism and rhythmic dexterity. Y?M on Enja Yellowbird is a new work which adds to that reputation and features a vital ensemble of jazz talent including Godwin Louis on alto and soprano sax, Jeremy Corren on piano, Savannah Harris on drums and production by vibraphonist Joel Ross. The LP is something of an evolution for Bareket as a leader and composer as it serves up energetic, focused and emotionally diverse music that reflects the personal and collective reckonings of navigating a post-COVID world.

Review: Returning with their first album in six years, homegrown stoner/psych metal legends Orange Goblin follow up 2018's filthy The Wolf Bites Back with their tenth full-length LP Science, Not Fiction. The project marks the first of their tenure to not feature original bassist Martyn Millard, who amicably departed in 2020, with founding vocalist Ben Ward, guitarist Joe Hoare and drummer Chris Turner now joined by Harry Armstrong, making his on-record debut with the goblin, while their newly penned deal with reliably excellent metal imprint Peaceville, appears to have lit a major fire up their arse and in their belly, with a rejuvenated collection of bluesy, grooving, nasty bangers that see Ward let loose in quite the articulated manner his growing frustrations and concerns with an increasingly hostile and ugly world.

Review: Returning with their follow up to 2020's hallucinatory epic Mestarin Kynsi, Finnish psychedelic black metal collective Oranssi Pazuzu deliver their most cosmic, alien reimagining of the genre to date with their sixth full-length Muuntautuja. Expanding their sonic palette beyond the already pre-established forms of blackened psychedelia and prog the group have made their name from bastardising, this latest work channels glitching elements of downtempo and trip-hop, resulting in the type of lysergic horror one could only imagine if the likes of Portishead or Massive Attack decided to switch lanes to pursue and fully embrace black metal in all its macabre, dissonant glory.

Review: The Orb's 13th album is a carefully crafted collection of tracks that are couched in minimal techno and ambient house. The first half embraces so-called 'Schaffel' rhythms, while the second half explores classic Orb sonic landscapes and features guest appearances from Schneider TM and Ulf Lohmann. The likes of 'Captain Korma' are warmly infused melodic jaunts with shimmering vocals, 'Cool Harbour' is a lumpy, dubby and off-balance workout and 'Kompagna (Zandic mix)' is a raw, experimental blend of harmonic tones, smeared samples and ambient bliss. This one, then, continues The Orb's legacy of genre-defying music which started in the late 80s when they pioneered chill-out and ambient house.

Known for their ambient house and psychedelic influences, The Orb's work has consistently pushed boundaries, from their groundbreaking 1991 debut album to their latest releases. Review: Originally released in 1993, seminal UK duo Orbital's Brown Album marked a bold leap forward in emotional depth and sonic ambition for electronic music. Tracks like 'Halcyon + On + On,' 'Impact (The Earth Is Burning)' and 'Lush 3-1/3-2' showcase the duo's masterful blend of driving rhythms and lush melodic textures. It was hailed as an instant classic at the time and made Mixmag's Best Dance Albums of All Time list. It has endured well over the last 30 years and is now reissued on vinyl for the first time in a decade, with a half-speed remaster and new liner notes by Andrew Harrison.

Review: Last year, the Hartnoll brothers gave their debut album, 1991's 'Green Album' (officially simply titled Orbital) the deluxe reissue treatment, offering an expanded quadruple CD edition backed with a detail-packed hardback book. They've now moved on to its similarly superb sequel (the 'Brown Album') from 1993. It gets a similar treatment, with a freshly remastered version of the original album (CD1) being joined by two discs of single versions, B-sides, remixes and 'Peel Session' cuts (including legendary Underworld and Psychik Warriors Ov Gaia takes on 'Lush 3', and the duo's own originally US-only extension of 'Impact'), and a fourth CD containing a previously unreleased live recording from the Limelight in New York in 1992. Oh, and a fine hardback book telling the story of the album. An early Christmas present for Orbital fans!

Review: There's a strong argument to be made that 1993's Orbital II, popularly known as 'The Brown Album', is the Hartnoll brothers' finest single album - a sublime fusion of bustling breakbeats, heady vocal samples (many provided by then unknown vocalist Alison Goldfrapp), twisted acid lines, memorable melodic motifs, and rush-inducing breakdowns. Here reissued in remastered and expanded form, the set - which includes fan favourites 'Lush 3', 'Halcyon' and the superb 'Impact (The Earth is Burning)' the album sounds as fresh and forthright as ever. This time round, it includes a second CD featuring key cuts from the two-part 'Raddicio' EP (including two takes on the Scott Walker-sampling 'The Naked & The Dead') and superb revisions of Lush 3 by Underworld and Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia.

Review: The iconic UK duo's equally recognisable second self-titled album i better known as the Brown Album i remains a towering achievement of early 90s electronic music. Originally released in 1993, it blurred techno, ambient and rave into a sprawling, richly detailed soundscape. This deluxe reissue, spread across four records, is the most rewarding edition into one of the genre's most enduring masterpieces. The remastered original tracks i from the shimmering melancholia of 'Halcyon + On + On' to the urgent pulse of 'Impact (The Earth Is Burning)' i still sound breathtakingly vital. 'Lush 3-1' and 'Lush 3-2' in particular benefit from the new half-speed vinyl cut, giving extra weight to their cascading synths and intricate rhythms. The real treasure for longtime fans lies in the bonus material including live recordings like the propulsive 'The Naked and the Dead' and the hypnotic 'Sunday'. Meanwhile, the lavish packaging i complete with a hardcover book, vintage flyers, and even a slipmat i reinforces how pivotal this album was in shaping Orbital's legacy. Sprawling yet intimate, futuristic yet deeply human, the Brown Album still feels like a world unto itself i and now, it's more expansive than ever.

Review: Gustav Horneij, under his Organic Pulse Ensemble alias, delivers a captivating collection of spiritual jazz compositions recorded entirely on a Tascam four-track tape recorder. This analog approach required Horneij to embrace spontaneity, capturing performances in single takes and transforming mistakes into defining artistic elements. His "problem-solving on the fly" ethos imbues the album with an organic, raw charm that celebrates imperfection as a creative force. Layered percussion, modal grooves and expressive saxophone and flute solos anchor the album's meditative and exploratory spirit. Influences of Ethio-jazz and Eastern music enrich its sonic palette, blending seamlessly with the soulful, improvisational energy at the album's core. Tracks like Solid introduce funk-infused grooves, adding an upbeat contrast to the introspective atmosphere. Horneij's multi-instrumental mastery shines throughout, with every sound performed by him. The limited LP pressing, a collaboration between Ultraaani Records and Puro Recordings, underscores his commitment to authentic, unpolished artistry. This project stands as a testament to the beauty of music created in the moment, offering listeners a deeply resonant experience that celebrates spontaneity and the art of adaptation.

Review: In an era where originality was essential for respect, few hip-hop groups earned more admiration than Organized Konfusion. The Queens-based duo of Pharoahe Monch and Prince Po reached their peak with their 1994 sophomore album Stress: The Extinction Agenda, now being reissued for its 30th anniversary. Supported by moody, bass-heavy, and jazz-infused production, Stress highlighted Pharoahe and Po's intricate, ever-evolving rhyme styles and undeniable chemistry. The result was an album that remains a beloved classic among hardcore rap fans, standing the test of time as a defining moment in the genre.

Review: We all know Italians do it better, but did you also know they seem to have the very best library reissues on the planet? Here the legendary singer and vocalist Nora Orlandi joins iconic jazz drummer Franco Tonani for a masterpiece of 1960s-early-1970s production that really encapsulates the ambience of a bygone age which feels dreamlike today. Fittingly, much of the music similarly invokes a sense of surrealism and psychedelia. You can almost feel yourself descending into the depths of a strange and beguiling night filled with weird and wonderful characters as these arrangements play out with pin point precision. A trip to another era, but also a trip into the mind's eye and all that may live there. Exquisite, masterful, but most of all utterly inimitable and difficult to countenance.

Review: Orlas, a father-son duo consisting of Victor Chicri and Vic Delnur, offers a vibrant blend of Brazilian musical traditions on their debut album Viver o Mar. Named after the Portuguese word for "shores," the project is a heartfelt tribute to the ocean, weaving together elements of samba-jazz, bossa nova, fusion, and disco-funk. Victor Chicri, a seasoned maestro and pianist with deep roots in Rio de Janeiro's 70s music scene, has collaborated with legends like Gal Costa and Seu Jorge. His extensive experience, including performances with the Quincy Jones Orchestra at Montreux Jazz Festival and a Latin Grammy win, shines through in the album's sophisticated arrangements. Vic Delnur, a versatile multi-instrumentalist and producer, brings a modern touch to their sound, drawing on his global experiences playing with artists like Sessa and Mahmundi. The result is a dynamic fusion of old and new, enriched by an eight-piece orchestra that adds lush textures to the grooves. The title track, 'Viver o Mar,' is a smooth, breezy fusion of samba-jazz and disco-funk that captures the spirit of the sea. 'Alagoas,' the second single, is a soulful tribute to Delnur's grandmother, celebrating the simple joys of life in the tropical paradise of her homeland. Viver o Mar is a celebration of Brazilian music's rich heritage, delivered with a modern flair.

Review: Nostalgia can be a dangerous thing. We don't need to cite examples why. In contrast, retrospect is important and retro sounds are, today, often capable of making us think about how we saw the future in the past. In some cases, that means staring down the barrel of the big question: did we heed any warnings, or has all the artwork and movies and music that sought to raise flags over the disappearance of humanity and individuality at the hands of 'progress' been for nought? Summoning the spirit of Depeche Mode, Eurythmics and more, Orphia present a stunning synth album which is at once catchy and poppy, even dance floor ready, but saturated in a kind of melancholy and juxtaposition of electronic and human. Robotic rhythms topped with organic emotions, there's a feeling of spiralling headfirst into lightning paced chaos and disorientation as the collection plays out. And that's about as apt as things get right now.

Review: BBE, known for its groundbreaking J-Jazz and J-Jazz Masterclass series, now shines a light on an inerasable gem in Japan's national discography: the debut LP Rainbow Love by Orquesta Del Sol, the country's first authentic salsa band. Salsa's roots in Japan trace back to the post-WWII era, with groups like Tokyo Cuban Boys, but it was the 1977 Fania All-Stars tour that initiated wider interest. Percussionist Masahito "Pecker" Hashida, influenced by New York's salsa scene, formed Orquesta Del Sol on his return. Their debut, put out in 1981, blends compositions in Japanese, Spanish, and English, while working in a cover of Noro Morales' 'Rumbambola'. Produced by Shuichi "Ponta" Murakami, the album's bold sound was a product of Japan's studio scene and the band's connection to the Nuyorican salsa style. This reissue includes seven bonus tracks from the band's later years, remastered for a new generation.

Review: Riz Ortolani's soundtrack to the 1969 Giallo thriller Cosi Dolce... Cosi Perversa is well sought-after but now pops up as a limited edition reissue. The legendary composer famously scored over 200 films and crafted a suspenseful and evocative work here that enhances the film's themes of deception and seduction. Directed by Umberto Lenzi and starring Carroll Baker and Jean-Louis Trintignant, the film remains a standout of Italian Giallo cinema and is immediately recognisable for its haunting main theme 'Why?' by J. Vincent Edwards. The soundtrack has been fully remastered from the original master tapes here - and naturally, it sounds superb.

Review: Dispatches From Solitude is their latest album from Ortrotasce on the mighty Dark Entries. For over a decade, the man behind this project, Nic Hamersly, has been making brooding yet propulsive darkwave anthems that draw on the similarities and differences between industrial and synth-pop, all while connecting past and present sounds. He recorded this album during the Covid and post-Covid era and it captures some of the prevailing moods of those times across eight expertly crafted synth-pop tracks that delve into grief, romance, and the weird and wonderful nature of our modern world.

Review: 1970's Hello Herbie reunites The Oscar Peterson Trio with legendary guitarist Herb Ellis for what proved to be a timeless jazz masterpiece. Ellis, who played with greats of the genre such as Stan Getz and Ella Fitzgerald, was a key member of Peterson's trio from 1953-58. This album marks their reunion with Sam Jones on bass and Bobby Durham on drums. Featuring playful interplay between Peterson's virtuosic piano and Ellis' thoughtful guitar, the album is a testament to their musical chemistry and for this reissue has been remastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Christoph Stickel. The LP also includes original tape scans and new liner notes by jazz journalist Scott Yanow to add some extra perspective.

Review: This album was a self-imposed ambitious project, conceived to spark creativity amid challenging times. Pivoting from our previous guitar and keyboard-centric albums, we embraced a new approach. I demoed everything on a cassette 4-track using drum loops, aiming for a return to simpler times. Tom and I selected synth sounds, creating samples across three octaves, loaded into Roland SPD-SX samplers, and learned the songs with drumsticks, transforming our writing process. Recording felt reminiscent of brass, so we added a saxophone horn section, thanks to Cansfis Foote and Brad Caulkins, enhancing the reedy bell tones. The result is a blend of Dexy's Midnight Runners, Von LMO, The Flesh Eaters, and The Screamers- a punk junk fusion that's poppy, hooky, heavy, and occasionally sci-fi. With boneheaded riffs and heady lyrics, it's a unique soundscape. Recorded at Stu-Stu-Studio on eight-track 1/4" tape, this album is a fresh, innovative pivot.

Review: Osees, led by the visionary John Dwyer, embark on a bold sonic departure with their upcoming album, Sorcs 80. Shedding their guitars and keyboards in favor of synths and drum loops, the band crafts a space rock odyssey that's both infectious and deeply atmospheric. Dwyer's penchant for experimentation shines through as the album brims with a wall of percussion and haunting saxophone melodies courtesy of Cansfis Foote & Brad Caulkins. Recorded on vintage eight-track tape, the album captures a raw intensity rarely seen in modern productions. Tracks like 'Cassius, Brutus & Judas' exemplify Osees' signature punk ethos, blending poppy hooks with heady lyrics that delve into themes of betrayal and human frailty. The result is a mesmerising blend of punk urgency and sci-fi intrigue with an avant-garde punk.

Review: Marysia Osu's debut album, harp, beats & dreams, is a stunning example of her musical evolution and innovative spirit. Known for her role in Levitation Orchestra and as a Brownswood 'Bubblers' graduate, Marysia blends her classical roots with contemporary exploration in this enchanting release. Originating from Poland and enriched by her musical education in London, she has embraced the harp with profound artistry, now intertwining it with electronic elements and personal introspection. The album opens with the hypnotic 'seatime,' a journey through coastal reverie that celebrates self-acceptance and inner harmony. It continues with 'care to care,' where Levitation Orchestra's Plumm adds ethereal vocals, advocating for self-care and personal space. The track 'memento mori' features YUIS's illuminating flute, echoing stoic reflections on life's impermanence. Marysia's return to the piano and spontaneous clarinet experiments, inspired by a vivid dream, add depth to her soundscape. The clarinet's breath symbolises life's essence, bridging body and mind, enhancing the album's introspective quality. Marysia Osu's debut is a an exciting debut, offering a serene escape thanks to her talent and unique vision.

Review: Osunlade's latest release continues his transformative journey, evolving from a major-label ghostwriter to one of deep house's most spiritually attuned and culturally conscious figures. His Yoruba Records imprint has long been a conduit for globally infused, soul-drenched house music, but here he turns inward, stripping things back to something more meditative while maintaining his signature warmth. 'Wiggle Room' opens with rhythmic vocals, strings and congas that gently invite movement. The pace slows in 'PASS!!,' building a quiet tension, before 'Hang Nail' introduces Middle Eastern-inspired melodies and sharp, punchy beats. 'Luv' offers a burst of warmth with lush chords and smooth vocals, capturing the essence of that classic deep sound. In 'She Represents,' heavy 303 basslines pay tribute to Shirley Chisholm, intertwining excerpts from her iconic speech with commanding rhythms. 'So Long...Stranger' reflects on the isolation of the pandemic, a quiet moment of introspection, before 'Modular Movements' closes the collection with an emotionally charged resolution. This set offers a journey that balances movement and stillness, reflecting Osunlade's own pathideep, unhurried and reverent, like the house music he's crafted throughout his career.

Review: Following his departure from The Sons Of Adam, Randy Holden joined forces with Jeff Nowlen, Geoff Western, Larry Brown, and Danny Woods to form The Other Half, a band that significantly shifted from garage rock to a powerful, big-stage sound. Relocating to San Francisco, the band made a mark with their Yardbirds and Rolling Stones-influenced style, performing at iconic venues like the Avalon Ballroom and recording an album alongside several singles between 1966 and 1968. Highlights include a blazing rendition of Arthur Lee's 'Feathered Fish,' and tracks like 'Flight Of The Dragon Lady,' which showcases Holden's guitar reminiscent of the Yardbirds' Jeff Beck/Jimmy Page era. The album also features powerful cuts such as 'I Need You' and 'Oz Lee Eaves Drops,' reflecting Holden's transition from The Sons Of Adam's sound to a heavier, more psychedelic approach. Fans of psychedelic rock will rejoice at being able to get a copy of this on vinyl to appreciate. Holden's relentless pursuit of his musical vision is in evidence here in abundance.

A year shy of its 40th anniversary, Inspiration Information enjoys a reissue and it's still as sparkly and soul-laden as it was in 1974. Ranging from the guitar-twanging smoky blues funk of "Rainy Day" to the sultry, strutting title track, it's largely regarded as Otis's most comprehensive work of that time. According to legend it took him three years to create... 39 years later and it still sounds as good as this? We'd say that's time well spent!

Review: This release feels like a collision of worlds, where abstract textures and rhythmic intricacies are forced into a dialogue with more accessible forms of electronic music. The opening track sets a tone of strange, mysterious propulsion, yet never fully gives in to any familiar conventions. Instead, it hints at a narrative unfoldingia journey, almost, where sound and intention coalesce but never fully resolve. It's a slow burn that rewards those who stick around, offering complex layers that reveal themselves gradually. Far from merely experimental, it finds a rare balance between artifice and soul, making each sonic twist feel purposeful and immersive.

Review: Responsible for two of the greatest indie rock albums of the century so far with his band Girls, he unexpectedly quit the band just as they were at their peak and they effectively ended. The band's producer and bassist Chet "JR" White sadly passed away in 2020 leaving a remarkable legacy behind. The label that put those Girls records out, True Panther, are now back with Christopher Owens for the first time since Girls, working with him under his solo moniker, which is an area with which he has had mixed results... until now where he's firing from all cylinders. This is Owens' magnum opus, with otherworldly melodies, heartfelt lyrics forward, and there's a genuine sense of vulnerability that's utterly compelling. This is John Lennon-level excellence in songwriting and the release comes after he hit rock bottom and built himself back up to deliver this marvel.

Review: 'Dreamstate' is Kelly Lee Owens' fourth studio album, hinting at a relatively bouncier electro-pop direction - in stark contrast to her much demurer, rougher-hewn earlier albums. Owens comments that Dreamstate is "the sound of a person letting loose and letting go while encouraging everyone else to do the same." Whether this necessarily results, for musicians, in an increased orientation towards chart-worthiness, remains to be seen, but we'd say this has certainly worked in the case of Owens, whose new forerunning singles 'Love You Got', 'Higher' and 'Sunshine' combine overcast dance productions and pristine angel voices from Owens herself, resulting in a much brighter yet equally thunderous sound, and 'Sunshine' is our favourite, future-avant progressive house number here.

Review: Frightened Rabbit's singer and chief songwriter Scott Hutchison devastatingly passed away in 2017 aged only 36. He's left behind an incredible oeuvre including this debut and sole solo album under the moniker Owl John. Hutchison as a lyricist had a warts and all approach, poetically delving into depressing subject matter in a spellbinding, artful way. The track 'Hate Music' is a case in point, his loathing of the record release cycle is conveyed with biblical imagery and brutal honesty. The cinematic polish of Frightened Rabbit is toned down in favour of a distinctive, more experimental aesthetic that resonates deeply..

Review: With roots in 1983's Stonehenge Free Festival, when brothers Ed and Roly Wynne joined forces with drummer Nick 'Tig' Van Gelder, bassist Eddie Myer, and keyboardist Joie Hinton to perform a six hour improvised jam session under the guise Bolshem People, Ozric Tentacles define the progressive rock-new age-ambient crossover story. Then they go on to write their own. It would be six years before they put a record out, 1989's Pungent Effulgent, preferring instead to keep things loose, open and, ultimately, unplanned. 12 months or so later, they emerged from Foel Studios in Powys, Wales, with the follow up - Erpland. A record that feels free, born in countless moments of spontaneous creativity, careering between free party dub and mind-melting (if overblown) electric guitar solos set against juggernaut metal rhythms. A remarkable beast.

Review: This album offers a smooth, nostalgic journey through classic 70s soul, with a modern twist that captures the essence of that era while infusing it with contemporary flair. The standout track, 'Rollercoaster', exemplifies the soothing, sensual style of the album, with falsetto vocals that echo the best of vintage soul. 'Mulholland Drive', a collaboration with Latoya Williams, further enhances this atmosphere, blending smooth grooves with a timeless feel. While the album leans heavily on familiar Marvin Gaye-inspired moments, tracks like 'Make Me Wanna' and 'Back To Your Place' draw listeners in with their rich, soulful melodies. The music itself is both comforting and captivating, with lush arrangements and a relaxed tempo that makes it easy to get lost in the vibe. Though some may find the album too nostalgic at times, the reverence for classic soul is clear and the execution is top-notch. For those who appreciate the golden era of r&b, this album delivers a satisfying, if sometimes familiar, experience that's sure to please fans of smooth, soulful music.

The album unfolds across three thematic setsiThe Hope, The Grind and The Ascent. That said, the reverence for Gaye is - obviously - evident, this heartfelt tribute to one of soul's greatest icons is given a properly contemporary feel through Snoop Dogg-mentored London's smooth falsetto and rich production. Review: This remarkable live jazz workshop brings together the talents of Yosuke Yamashita, Itaru Oki, Yuji Ohno and Kimiko Kasai for an unforgettable listen. Recorded in 1970 as part of Victor's "Japanese Jazz" series, this album showcases three powerful trios-Yamashita, Oki, and Ohno-with vocalist Kasai and each artist contributes their own unique style. Yamashita led the scene with his vibrant playing, Oki brought fresh perspectives from Osaka, Ohno's versatility spanned modern to new jazz and Kasai's vocal prowess was just beginning to bloom at this time. Together, the seven artists create a dynamic two-disc trip that is full of the famous originality and intensity of Japanese jazz.

Review: Twilight of the Gods features one of many evocative soundtracks from Hans Zimmer, Omer Benyamin and Steven Doar. Between them, they bring a sweeping cinematic scope to an epic narrative with their usual sense of masterful scoring. Zimmer and his collaborators blend orchestral intensity with atmospheric depth here to enhance the mythic tone of the story. From haunting melodies to powerful crescendos, this soundtrack captures the emotional gravity and grandeur of the gods' twilight moments and each track layers intricate instrumentation that pulls listeners into a vivid, immersive world that echoes the film's themes of fate, power and destiny.
