Review: Fresh from wowing festival crowds big and small, Honey Dijon drops a fresh EP - one packed to the rafters with collaborative cuts and peak-time ready house workouts. Insanely heavyweight beats, relentless bass and restless cowbells come to the fore on the EP-opening Shake The Earth remix of Channel Tres/Sadie Walker hook-up 'Show Me Some Love', before fellow Chicagoans Mike Dunn and Ric Wilson join in the fun on 'C's Up (The Southside Remix)', a pots-and-pans percussion-laden Windy City house bumper. Elsewhere, Dope Earth Alien features on the similarly inclined, footworker friendly goodness of 'It's Quiet Now (The Sunlight Remix)', while the Set You Free remix of 'Not About You' sounds like the sort of dense, drum-rich jam that Classic co-founder Derrick L Carter would absolutely love.

Review: Leading up to her much anticipated Black Girl Magic album, Honey Dijon commits four cuts from the forthcoming LP featuring some darker, Chicago-influenced tracks ready for the club. On the A side you've got the jazzed up, late '90s style boompty house vibe of 'Work' (feat Dave Giles II, Cor Ece & Mike Dunn), while over on the flip 'C's Up' once again features local legend Dunn contributing his signature vocal work over a hypnotic acid house number complete with jacked vocals, followed by the strobed-out, heads down groove of 'Don't Be Afraid' (feat LATASHA).

Review: Honey Dijon's first outing of 2021, 'Downtown', sounds like a summer 2021 anthem in the making. A retro-futurist house workout featuring vocals from Annette Bowen and Nikki O whose lyrics celebrate the joys of dancing to underground dance music, the track is powered forwards by a heavy and hooky synth bassline and warm electric piano stabs. The long-serving DJ/producer's original mix is superb, but the accompanying remixes from Louie Vega are high-quality too. He first offers up a chunky, organ-sporting 'House 90Mood Mix' that's pleasingly percussive, before delivering a Mood II Swing-esque 'Raw Dub' and a 'Downtown Disco Dub Mix' full of walking bass and immersive, colourful chords.

Review: Honey Dijon, or Honey "Fucking" Dijon, as she is known on her new range of bags and wallets with Comme Des Garcon, is now getting the headlines she deserves after decades of paying her DJ dues. The Chicago house innovator links up with old friends Classic for this lush new EP which features steamy vocal house anthem "Not About You". It's built on a prying baseline and finished with neat chord stabs up top, while the soulful vocal brings all the character you need to rock the floor. Two KDA versions flip the beats to more afro patterns, one with the vocal, one a dub, both red hot.

Review: Honey Dijon and Josh Caffee is a powerful coming together of black talent on the long essential Classic label. After a spoken word introducing from Caffee - a lauded DJ and live act who regularly blows up the likes of Block9 at Glastonbury - comes "Le Femme Fantastique" (extended mix). It's a twisted bit of raw, brain frying house with prickly drums, spiky synths and a great vocal delivered over the top. KiNK & KEi serve up an extended remix that is drawn out and somewhat stripped back, so it bangs in different but equally high impact ways. This EP is pure club dynamite, make no mistake.

Review: Following the runaway success of her long-anticipated 2017 debut album, Honey Dijon returns to action via a feel-good, peak-time collaboration with storied Aussie vocalist Sam Sparro, who first rose to prominence in the late noughties following appearances on Basement Jaxx records. Sparro's trademark vocal naturally takes centre stage on the opening "Disco Version", a driving chunk of acid house/disco fusion that sounds like a summer anthem in waiting. The track's nagging TB-303 lines are naturally pushed to the fore on the darker Cosmic Energy Dub, while fellow Chicagoan Cratebug flips the script entirely on his flipside rubs. Choose between the deep house/disco fusion of the "Nova Remix" and the arguably superior "Supernova Remix", where twisted but funk-fuelled acid lines rise above a stripped-back groove.

Review: After years on the scene, NYC's Honey Dijon has finally received her dues on an international level and her move into production is showing great promise. Courtesy of the always reliable Classic Music Company, "Houze" is a driving and jacking acid odyssey optimised for pre-peak time energy levels complete with druggy pitch shifted vocals. Man of the moment and fellow New Yorker Eli Escobar turns in a more down and dirty rendition perfect for Brooklynite invite only loft parties, while Swiss high tech soul purveyor Deetron's extended remix is a total monster with that grinding, hooverish bassline and furious shuffle in the rhythm.,

Review: House music royalty par excellence, Honey Dijon is finally gracing us with a second album after she turned her artistry up a notch with 2017's The Best of Both Worlds. Once again shoring up with her spiritual home Classic, Black Girl Magic finds Dijon celebrating love in every sense of the word, and lead single 'Show Me Some Love' is a fine case in point. There's that twitchy, freaky energy she instinctively brings to the floor, plus some smouldering vocal turns from Channel Tres and Sadie Walker. Elsewhere on the album you'll find breakthrough talents and established legends aplenty, all pulled together into Dijon's sexy, funked-up strain of tech house.
