Review: "Love Will Tear Us Apart" , by Joy Division, is one of the few rock songs in which the lyrics genuinely stand up as poetry, the deeply personal and private revelations contrasting with a coldly robotic and metallic musical background that owes much to the vision of producer Martin Hannett. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" was recorded just two months before Ian Curtis committed suicide. It was originally released a month after his death, reaching number 13 in the UK charts in April 1980. The song has received many music accolades over the years, including being acclaimed as the 'Best Single Of All Time' by NME in 2006, and reaching number 179 in Rolling Stone's top 500 songs of all time.
