Stars & Dust CD

In certain techno circles, the release of a new Yagya album is a genuine event. The Icelandic producer's sporadic sets are never less than sublime, with his previous outing on Delsin, 2014's Sleepygirls, being particularly alluring. Like that set, Stars & Dust is an emotion-rich affair, fusing the glacial ambient soundscapes of Biosphere with the blazed, low-end pule of dub techno, and the saucer-eyed melodiousness of classic British IDM. The tracks shuffle between impeccable downtempo beauty (see the superb "Through The Zodiacal Cloud"), and gentle dancefloor thrust, with a clutch of head-in-the-clouds cuts in between. In other words, it's brilliant.
