Andrew Weatherall was many things - a stylish gent, storyteller, killer DJ, label owner, guitar payer, remixer and respected collaborator. It is the latter of those that comes to the fore here on Phonox Nights, the final album he was working on before his sad passing in February 2020. He was doing so alongside Nina Walsh with whom he had worked so often and for so long. The album is named after the club in which it had been road tested and is one that traverses his late-era sound - namely chugging disco, dark and psychedelic dub, minimal techno grooves and plenty of his own unique sense of melody.
