Temptations 60 CD

It seems fitting that the Temptations are marking an astonishing 60 years in the business with a new album whose most impactful track, 'When We Were Kings', is a gorgeously nostalgic, loved-up telling of their own history. It's fitting, too, that the set is largely classic in sound (the hip-hop soul style opener excepted), mixing elements of 1960s, '70s. '80s and '90s soul, and that the now octogenarian group are still capable of belting out vocals as sweetly and soulfully as they did back in the day. There are plenty of other nods to their lengthy history dotted across the album, too, including a song recorded with Motown contemporary Smokey Robinson and an updated version of 'Come On', a song some of their members first recorded way back in 1959.
