Amsterdam's Nachtbraker heads up Quartet Series which launched in 2016 and after four various artists EPs now presents its first solo artist 12" by local newcomer Scott Franka with The Gym EP. Starting out with the title track, which is a dubby and emotive exercise in deepness that has a classic, Larry heard style nostalgia about it, he also gives us "Toenail" which by comparison is much more rough and dusty but again utilising some really soulful pads and bumpy bass over its absolutely wicked drum patterns. On the flip things take a turn for the slightly more experimental on "Sorry" taking on the kind of UK sounds of Actress or the like, while "Street" goes for some electro style ghetto techniques.
