Argot offshoot Tasteful Nudes continues to be a bastion of internationally flavoured house music taste, with this fifth release introducing us to the work of Royer. Originating from Paris and apparently now based in Copenhagen, the standard of production shown throughout Royer's Tough Questions EP belies the fact this is his debut release. There's a considered hand and understanding of arrangement and subtle samples across the four tracks that is comparable to studio veterans. Largely operating at the doleful and soulful end of the deep house spectrum, "Us" does show Royer can implement a bit more toughness into his productions at times. Head to "Morning Thea" for release highlight, as frenetic percussion takes you on a rollercoaster ride through a familiar sample repeated over and over.
