After a year spent adrift, Rival Consoles - Ryan Lee West - returns with his ninth full-length, Landscape From Memory, and with it, a rekindled spark. Having stepped away from his self-built studio in Hackney amid the comforts of routine, West embroidered this record from scraps: demos recorded on the road, acoustic sketches caught through a laptop mic, grainy textures brass rubbed against lustrous synth tabula rasa. Leading light 'Catherine', a dedication to his partner, is bare and buoyant, following renewed processive energy. 'In a Trance', 'Known Shape' and 'Gaivotas' further flex West's fondness for propulsive rhythms and irregular sonics.
