Japanese R&B singer-songwriter Junpei Shiina has become one of the stars of his home country's music sonde over the course of the last 20 years. He's put out a couple of albums and a bunch of fine EPs that join the dots between jazz-funk, city-pop and soul in his own inimitable style. In May last year was when he dropped his latest 7", a cover of a soul classic, and it sold out in quick time. At Home Sound reissue it now with the sweet Ryuhei The Man edit on the flip. It's a cacophony of drums and jazz cymbals with the crooning vocals drifting about somewhere in the middle.
