The latest release from Brooklyn's Wonderwheel label sees the return of Ocote Soul Sounds, the long-running collaboration between Antibalas founder Martin Pera and Adrian Quesada, co-founder of the Latin music powerhouse Grupo Fantasma. A Pesar La Vida is actually their debut for Wonderwheel and a fine 7" to boot, with Ocote Soul Sounds calling on the talents of Chico Mann and Quantic to make it all the more special. Naturally "A Pesar La Vida" sees Mann step up for lead vocals, ably assisted by the backing singers, whilst Will Quantic's enviable musicianship comes to the fore on guitar and accordion. Some beat on the cut too! Instrumental on the flip!
