Subway Gothic vinyl

The New York City collective Archie Pelago Trio offered up one of last year's most unique twelve inches with their self titled release for hometown hub Mr Saturday Night, a three track drop filled with stark originality and blossoming ideas. Arriving on the UK label Well Rounded Individuals for their next release is a most welcome surprise and this two track Subway Gothic 12" from Hirshi, Kroba and Cosmo D is just as refreshing a listen. The title track is worth investigation alone, ambitiously presenting a six track production that shows no fear in abandoning it's pleasant concoction of melancholic piano chords and driving rhythmic elements mid way through for a breath taking assault on the senses formed from sonic shadows, jolts, scrapes and odd shapes. Their wilfully experimental nature continues unfettered on the pleasant off key tumble of "Ladymarkers" which evokes feelings of Arthur Russel at his finest!
